Recap
- Michael tells Phil that he feels unwelcome at Number 32
- Gaby and Annalise's plane crashes
- Michael packs his rucksack to leave Ramsay Street
Field
Annalise opens her eyes - she's bruised and bloodied. She sees Gaby slumped forward in the cockpit and realises what's happened. She pulls Gaby up and warns that the plane may explode - they have to get out. Gaby seems very dazed.
Number 32
Michael's in his bedroom. He finishes packing his rucksack and opens his window. Holly wanders into his room, eyes up his suitcase and starts to bark! Michael urges the dog to shut up, but the noise disturbs Julie who walks into Michael's room as he's halfway out of the window.
JULIE: Michael? What's going on?
Field
Annalise and Gaby climb out of the plane. Gaby, in particular, seems to be in a lot of pain. They look at the wreckage and Gaby apologises. Annalise says that they were lucky and the pair walk away.
Number 32
Michael, Phil and Julie are in the living room. Michael says he was leaving because he didn't want a big fuss - he'd already told Phil that he intended to leave. Phil and Julie think it's pretty poor that he just wanted to disappear without saying a word.
Michael thinks he'll be better off in a youth hostel with some mates. Phil wonders if Pam is to blame and accuses Michael of not trying. Phil and Julie talk about how much effort they've all put in to make him feel welcome.
MICHAEL: I'm like an unwanted guest here.
JULIE: What?!
PHIL: This is your home. We want you to feel free here.
MICHAEL: I don't. It's not just this house; it's the whole neighbourhood. Everybody's waiting for me to stuff up. Living in Ramsay Street is like living with the judge and jury all the time.
Phil urges him to give it time. The camera cuts to -
Number 32 - Hallway
Hannah is sitting in the hallway with Holly, listening to the conversation between Michael, Julie and Phil.
MICHAEL: Even Hannah's made it clear she'd rather see me back in a detention centre. I mean, she's my own sister and she hates me.
PHIL: You're being over sensitive with Hannah. She doesn't hate you.
MICHAEL: Come on, Dad. Let's face it. Me leaving would be best for everyone.
Hannah looks solemn.
Field
Gaby and Annalise shelter by some trees and look back at the plane. Gaby seems to be in quite a lot of pain. Annalise tries to comfort her, saying that she did pretty well - she got them down alive! Annalise notices that Gaby's hand is injured and offers to clean it up for her. She heads back to the plane for a first aid kit, checking with Gaby first that it's not going to blow up on her!
GABY: Thanks.
ANNALISE: I'd do the same for anyone who just tried to kill me!
Number 26
Wayne comes in with bundles of shopping. Helen says she'd normally help, but indicates to her broken wrist! Helen is surprised that Wayne's cooking for the third time in the week, and thinks it must be Annalise's turn, but Wayne doesn't mind - it stops him from getting bored. Helen comments that he hasn't done much socialising in the holidays, but Wayne says he hasn't felt like it. There's a knock at the door - it's Troy, Wayne's brother, who's turned up unexpectedly. He looks at Helen's broken wrist.
TROY: Hey, what's this? Wayne, have you been bashing Mrs D or something?
Helen asks after his parents, and Wayne reckons they'll be pretty annoyed with Troy disappearing during the harvest! Wayne's pleased that Troy's come to visit - he thought the holidays were going to bore him stupid. Helen insists that Troy stay with them at Number 26.
Number 32
Phil asks Michael if he's made a reservation at the youth hostel. Michael says he'll just turn up. Phil says he should come back if they're full. Michael reckons that they'll make space for him. He walks off, saying that he'll call them from his room when he's ready.
Michael walks past Hannah, who's still sitting in the hallway with Holly. Holly gets up and follows him. Hannah looks sadly after them.
Field
Annalise is bandaging Gaby's hand.
ANNALISE: I suppose this is where I ask you if you got your licence out of a cereal packet!
Annalise asks what caused the accident, but doesn't understand Gaby's response. Gaby is pleased with the bandage and says that Annalise should've been a nurse. They start to walk across the field, saying they ought to start thinking about how to get home as night will fall soon.
GABY: Well, no-one's going to be looking for us, that's for sure.
ANNALISE: No?!
GABY: Well, not yet anyway. Not in this area. We didn't tell anyone we changed our plan, did we?
ANNALISE: (sighs) Fantastic(!)
Number 32
Pam is at the door. She wants to apologise to Michael, and apologises to Phil for jumping on Michael - she reckons Michael must hate her for pre-judging him. Phil calls Michael into the hallway and offers to leave, but Pam says she doesn't mind eating humble pie in public!
Michael accepts the apology and asks if Pam is ok with him and Cody staying friends. She is, and Phil is pleased and tells Pam he appreciates her coming over. She leaves.
PHIL: You see. It is possible to get treated fairly around here. That was a genuine apology and it wouldn't have been easy to do.
Michael thinks that Pam still thinks he'll stuff up. He hasn't changed his mind; he's still calling the hostel. Phil is deflated.
Field
The radio in the plane is as dead as a doornail.
ANNALISE: Can't even pick up a good FM station?
Gaby laughs - it's not that kind of radio! Annalise says she was joking, but it looks like they're stuck.
Number 26
Wayne has worked out that Troy had been invited to stay by Helen - she was worried about him going in on himself. Troy reckons he's going to make the most of being with his big brother in the big city! Wayne's worried about his parents on the farm and them coping with the harvest, but Troy tells him that their dad was more concerned about him sorting Wayne out.
WAYNE: Nice to see everyone's taking an avid interest in my welfare(!)
Troy wants to go out and pick up some city girls later on, but Wayne wants a quiet night in.
TROY: You're not still bummed out over that Beth sheila, are you?
Troy tells Wayne that he'll be missing out - he's going looking for action!
Coffee Shop
Troy tells Lauren that he's new to the area and wants to know where everyone goes to rage. Lauren says she doesn't go out much.
TROY: Boyfriend got you on a rope, eh?
LAUREN: What boyfriend? No, it's lack of money.
TROY: Hey, I've got bread. What are you doing tonight?
LAUREN: Do I look dumb enough to go out with a total stranger?
Troy puts his hand out for a handshake.
TROY: Hey, I'm Troy.
That's the total stranger bit sorted then! Troy tells Lauren that he's got a brother who's a bit shy and backward (!) and suggests a double date. Lauren says that she doesn't know Troy and she refuses to go out alone with people she doesn't know. Kristy appears at the counter.
TROY: Hey, she said she'd go out with me if you'll come along as my brother's blind date.
LAUREN: That's not exactly what I said!
KRISTY: What's he like?
TROY: Above average. He's not as spunky as me but close. He's no dork!
Kristy eventually agrees, and Lauren reluctantly has to go along with it. Troy is triumphant!
Number 26
Hannah is making cakes with Helen. She tells Helen that Michael is going to live in a youth hostel and says that she's pleased about it because he's taken Holly off her. Helen points out that if Holly likes Michael so much, it must be because Michael is very kind towards her. Hannah shrugs.
HELEN: Holly's a smart dog, isn't she?
HANNAH: Yes.
HELEN: Well, if Holly thinks it's a good idea to welcome Michael back into the home, don't you think you should do the same?
Number 32
Michael is in his bedroom, stroking Holly. He's on the phone, confirming a place at the youth hostel. He gets off the phone and makes a fuss of Holly, telling her that she'll be the only one who misses him.
Number 28
Pam is really anxious that Gaby is late. Doug makes some suggestions - like her stopping to have a drink with Annalise after the flight, but Pam isn't convinced. She calls the airport and is upset when she finds out that the plane is late back and they can't get a response from the radio.
Field
Gaby and Annalise have got out the hamper that Annalise packed. It's extremely well stocked, and Gaby is impressed. Annalise reluctantly tells her that she learnt how to look after herself so well from being in the Brownies!
Number 32
Michael is sitting on his bed with Holly. Hannah knocks at the door and tells him that it's ok by her if he plays with Holly.
HANNAH: You know when you hurt Holly when you first came back?
MICHAEL: That was an accident.
HANNAH: Holly didn't know that but she gave you a second chance. She still liked you.
MICHAEL: Are you saying you still like me?
Hannah says that she wants him to stay but Michael thinks it's too late - his place at the hostel is booked. Hannah says that Phil will be really upset if he goes, but Michael says it's too hard for him in Ramsay Street. Hannah gets very annoyed and tells Michael that he's wimping out - they all want to give him a second chance, so why won't he give them one?
Field
Gaby is looking at a map trying to work out where they are.
ANNALISE: I know where we are. In the middle of nowhere!
The nearest road is miles away - they're cold and miserable. Annalise thinks that they're going to die. Gaby and Annalise discuss their lives, and Gaby tells Annalise that she's not upset that she didn't get to date Mark but she is envious of Annalise having a relationship. Annalise admits that she's jealous of Gaby - she's always wanted to be a successful career woman. Annalise tries to reassure Gaby about her relationship woes.
ANNALISE: Your knight in shining armour will come along on a white horse...
Gaby shushes Annalise - she can hear a helicopter. The helicopter comes down to land and the pair hug each other excitedly.
Number 32
Michael walks into the living room and Phil assumes that he's ready to leave. Michael tells them that he's been thinking and a hostel place should only be taken by a kid who really needs it. He says he wants to stay and make a go of it. Phil and Julie are overjoyed and they both hug him. Julie promises that he'll be a real part of the family - no more special treatment.
Phil asks what changed his mind and Michael says that he was made to wake up to himself. He winks at Hannah, who jumps up and joins in the family hug.
Number 28
Pam receives the news that Annalise and Gaby have been found safe and well. She and Doug rush out of the door to collect them from the airport.
Number 26
Helen receives a phone call - she's won a holiday in a supermarket raffle. Unfortunately, the holiday is a romantic trip for two at the Nepean Country Club, and Helen thinks she'd be severely hindered in going by her wrist anyway. She has a sudden burst of inspiration and tells Wayne that she's going to go and give someone a very pleasant surprise!
Wayne carries on making a meal when Troy comes in - he tells Wayne that he's found some really hot city sheilas! Wayne warns him not to use that phrase.
WAYNE: What are their names?
TROY: Ummmmm, Kirsty is yours and Lara!
Troy eventually manages to talk Wayne into it.
Airport
Pam and Doug rush to hug Gaby and Annalise.
Number 32
Phil and Julie tell Helen the good news about Michael staying.
HELEN: Well, I've come over to tell you what might be the icing on the cake. ...I have won a holiday in a raffle.
JULIE: Ohh, Gran that's great!
PHIL: Congratulations!
HELEN: And I'd like you both to have it.
Phil and Julie are shocked. Phil suggests that Helen could go when her wrist is mended, but Helen is insistent. Julie tells Phil that it could be their second honeymoon! Phil worries about leaving Michael on his own, but Helen thinks that he and Debbie will be fine looking after themselves, and Hannah can stay at Number 26.
Julie says that it's a great opportunity for them to show Michael that they trust him. Phil accepts Helen's offer - and then asks where they're going!
The Waterhole - Outside
Troy is sitting on a bench, and Kristy approaches him. She tells him that she's not staying - she's got an extra shift at the uni library and she can't get out of it. She leaves, and Wayne appears from the bar with two beers. He asks where the girls are and Troy indicates to the departing Kristy.
TROY: That's yours just leaving. She must've got a quick look at you, mate!
Wayne isn't too bothered - he's going to drink up and head home. Wayne tells him to have a good time with Lara. Troy thinks that Wayne needs the date more than he does.
WAYNE: She has no say in all of this?
TROY: Well, let's ask her!
"Lara" approaches them - only, of course, it's Lauren!
