Eirini Rising (Karl's office)
The K's are having 5 minutes out from their manic day when Harold comes calling they are pleased to see him though! The good news is Gino is back from hospital but Harold has picked up on the unrest in the facility and checks how the K's are doing - they reassure him that they are okay.
The Waterhole
As they chat, Krista can sense Melanie isn't herself. When Melanie spots Vic entering the bar, she quickly asks Krista to play along with what she says, promising to explain all later.
Vic invites Melanie out for lunch but she's can't manage, as she's going to the cinema with Krista. When he tries for the next day instead, Melanie literally grabs Krista as they are running late for their cinema date!
After the ladies hastily depart, Vic smells a rat especially after he picks up Melanie's cup and discovers the contents are still hot.
Harold's café
Nicolette isn't too amused at the K's have relocated to the café to get peace and quiet from the Eirini residents! However she proves to be a very useful source of intel - apparently some of the residents (especially the ones knocking on Karl's door) have been meeting 3 days on the trot in the café with Moira taking notes. The K's think that the residents are planning on taking legal action against Eirini Rising.
Rotunda
Now they are alone, Melanie can tell Krista all about [according to Nicolette] Vic hooking up with others while chatting to her online. Melanie has no reason to disbelieve what she was told and is kicking herself for not seeing it coming and getting "suckered in" by Vic, although she does admit to being grateful to have caught him early! Krista thinks she should talk to him to gain back some of her power, to enable Melanie to "move on from this chapter completely."
Lassiters Complex
Taking what Krista said, a very determined Melanie makes a beeline for Vic and demands to know what he wanted to talk to her about. He's surprised to see her, but does answer the question by informing her that he and Jane have hit the pause button… and he is shocked to hear that it is old news to Melanie! Vic then compliments Jane on being a smart woman and that she saw he had feelings for Melanie. She wants to know why he's saying this to her now? "Because I need to know how you feel," but Vic then thinks he's missed the joke when instead of replying, Melanie just starts smiling at him - turns out she's bemused why he is even asking her this because even the proverbial blind man can see he should be with Jane.
MELANIE: No buts Vic. What we had was a brief flirtation, nothing more.
VIC: (confused) I don't understand why you're saying this? Jane is completely understanding!
MELANIE: I wish you all the best Vic, I really do. But what we had was nothing.
Harold's café
Nicolette is ignoring her dad's 'woe is me' by trying to come up with a new slogan for the café post Haz! When he twigs she isn't listening, she bluntly tells him that he needs to respect Melanie's decision and the only person he should be contacting is Jane who is probably patiently waiting for an update.
Number 24
And right enough she is when the camera briefly cuts to #24.
Harold's café
Vic isn't sure it's right to go back to Jane after Melanie turned him away and thinks it would be best to ask instead for more time. That earns him his daughter's wrath who warns that if he doesn't act immediately, then he could lose Jane all over again, adding that she could be making other plans while they are talking.
Number 24
Jane puts the phone down and decides to tidy up Isla's toys that are lying around instead.
Harold's café
Vic is confused, he thought Jane would be waiting for an update.
NICOLETTE: Mum is finally willing to give you another shot. So whatever Melanie said, treat it as a sign. And if you don't believe me…
And to make her point, Nicolette then shows her dad the new slogan she's come up with - coffee makes everything clearer!
Number 24
Vic watches Jane through the door for a moment before entering the house. Immediately she asks if his feelings are any clearer and it is a clear "yes!" He thanks Jane for her patience on this unique situation and he confirms despite his initial thinking, he doesn't have a connection with Melanie and wants instead for them to give it another go. Jane seems pleased with this news and goes to hold his hands in hers.
Eirini Rising (Karl's office)
Karl is dithering about how to ask Moira, so its Susan instead who is the one to ask if the residents plan on taking legal action against Eirini Rising? "Of course we are!" she confirms and explains that several of them have suffered severe physical and mental health issues "due to your negligence!" Susan thinks this is a bit extreme but Moira's comeback is that they are naïve to think there'd be "no consequences from the gas leak." Karl reminds her that Terese has stepped down but Moira has more than said enough and heads out of the office.
KARL: I think we could be in trouble here.
The K's are discussing what to do next when Harold interjects to comment on how Moira likes "nothing more than a good battle!" Susan wonders why that's the case and Harold thinks it's because Moira is lonely and is using this situation as a way of contacting people. Karl asks if she's friendly with him (yes) so asks Harold to take on for the team and become more friendly with Moira!
The Waterhole (beer garden)
Curiosity is getting to Jane and she asks Vic how things went with Melanie. Vic's reply is that Melanie gave him all the clarity he required but refuses to say more when Jane presses him, instead he thanks Melanie for making him realise how lucky he is to be back with Jane again. Jane confirms with Vic that she feels the old magic they had is back and leans in to kiss him before they resume playing their board game.
Harold's café
Harold is doing as requested and has taken Moira out for coffee and cake. The pair reminisce about making friends at their age, especially after losing their partners, but turns out that she's loved the chats with her fellow residents post gasgate!
Lassiters Complex
As they arrive at the complex, Krista is hearing about Melanie's chat with Vic including that she didn't fully tell him what Nicolette had told her, wanting instead to start getting over him and moving on.
When the pair then spot Vic and Jane together outside The Waterhole, Melanie starts to get a bit upset, but not for herself (as Krista thought) but for Jane as per what Nicolette said to her. The pair walk way when they spot Nicolette heading towards her parents, happy that they are back together again.
Harold's café
When he hears that Moira is planning on another meeting to discuss the class action (and invites Harold along to it), he wonders if the lawsuit is about "genuine injuries" or if it is instead about her? She is offended by his accusation about "talking a lot of pleasure out of the social aspect" over what his happening! Moira then starts to list some of the residents and what is wrong with them, but Harold counters each one with a rational explanation much to her annoyance! When Moira doesn't have a reasonable comeback to his statement that she is lonely, he then adds she knows deep down that "pushing ahead with unfounded claims is not the way to find friends."
Eirini Rising (Karl's office)
Karl tries his best to distract Susan from work by getting a bit amorous with the stethoscope when Moira and Harold walk into his office. Moira subtly say that some residents are double checking their symptoms and were also a bit "too hasty with their complaining" and leaves to go have another chat with them.
HAROLD: Crisis averted!
The Kennedys can't but thank Harold for his help and he is very grateful for his friendship with then rather than being alone.
Harold's café
Krista gives her thumbs up to the slogan before then subtly confronting Nicolette over what she said to Melanie. Both agree that they want Melanie to be happy, and Kirsta assumed Nicolette would want that for her mum too… so why has she not said anything to her about Vic's 'wondering hands'?
NICOLETTE: Are you going to say something?
KRISTA: That wouldn't be my place. But when things are said, they have a way of coming out eventually.
Brasserie
When Vic heads inside The Brasserie to get drinks for himself and Jane, Nicolette takes the opportunity to pop over and have a chat with her mum. She comments on how great it is to see them both happy and asks what Vic said about his chat with Melanie? "Not much," Jane replies, she got the impression he decided that "no- one could compete with our shared history." She has the impression Nicolette is holding something from her and reluctantly, she begins to tell her mum about her chat with Melanie. Jane wants to know "exactly" what that chat involved!
NICOLETTE: Ah, just the obvious okay, that dad is very charming but he can't help himself. But he would never disrespect you after everything you two have been through.
JANE: Alright, and is that all?
NICOLETTE: And I might have insinuated that dad might have been hooking up with other women.
That last part severely disappoints Jane especially when it dawns on her that is the only reason Melanie backed off. Nicolette tries to reassure her that isn't just the only reason, they love each other and Vic would have chosen her "regardless." She now begs her mum to keep what she's just admitted quiet, so not to spoil her happiness!
Lassiters foyer, Piano bar
Vic can sense Jane is a bit down when he returns with their drinks and hope she isn't regretting things! "No, not at all," she replies but given she doesn't want any secrets between them, but when Vic starts to talk about the plans for their future she quickly backtracks from saying what she was going to say, instead wanting to hear more about his plans for them.
