The 82
Holly gets up from the bed and assures Karl this isn't what it looks like. But he doesn't appear to believe her and starts ranting at Felix.
KARL: Holly's extremely vulnerable and confused right now, and I'd hate to think you were taking advantage!
HOLLY: Wait, Dad...
KARL: It's my responsibility to protect my daughter. So clearly I need to remind you of some boundaries here.
FELIX: Nothing happened.
HOLLY: Dad, please, stop.
KARL: It would be completely inappropriate for you to start something with her when she's in this state!
HOLLY: Dad, I'm not your property, and I'm right here! Will you listen to me? Felix has been helping me, okay? Ever since the siege, I've been having panic attacks and night sweats, and Felix has been helping me cope.
KARL: Panic attacks? Why didn't you tell me?
HOLLY: I don't know - because I couldn't! But Felix saw and he helped me through it. And not that it is any of your business, but I came here tonight because I was upset about that stupid psychological assessment, and he was kind enough to let me stay here. He's my friend. That's it.
No 30
The Varga- Murphys are all lounging about on the sofas when Cara declares it's time for bed. Remi suggests they should have a two- minute tidy first.
REMI: You'll thank me tomorrow.
DEX: I don't think we will!
CARA (quietly, to Remi): If we do have another kid, we're training them to be tidier.
REMI: Agreed.
As they tidy up, Remi mentions that she's keen to apologise to Felix again having misjudged him over the missing money at the tram. She asks JJ how he feels about it all.
JJ: Yeah. No, I'm glad he didn't do it. I didn't want him to be the bad guy again.
Remi changes the subject to Cara's last day at uni for her course, and says she'll be making her favourite - spaghetti bolognese - tomorrow to celebrate.
DEX: And dessert, right?
REMI: Well, obviously. It's a celebration.
DEX: Awesome.
JJ has a question for Remi and Cara - he wants to know if they'll let him go to Colac sometime soon to see Nell.
JJ: She's not loving it over there, and I really want to see her.
Remi promises to give Toadie a call and see what can be arranged.
No 22
The next morning, Remi calls round to see Terese. We learn that Remi called Toadie last night, who agreed that Nell could come and visit today, to join the Varga- Murphys' family dinner. She's already on her way, but none of them felt comfortable about her sleeping the night at No 30, so Remi was wondering if Nell could stay with Terese tonight.
TERESE (evasive): Well, normally, of course it would be fine. But, umm, I actually have a work event on tonight.
REMI: Oh. I mean, she's with us for dinner. We're happy to keep her until you're back.
TERESE: I'm gonna be home quite late.
Remi seems a little surprised by Terese's reaction, and apologises for coming to her at such short notice.
REMI: It's just, they've missed each other so much.
TERESE: ... You know what? I'll just give the work thing a miss. I'll tell Nell she's more than welcome to stay here.
Ramsay Street
As they retrieve their respective mail, Karl chats to Cara about having jumped to the wrong conclusions when he found Felix and Holly together last night. At this point, Holly herself shows up, and Cara leaves them to it. Holly doesn't seem in the mood to talk, but Karl is upset that she didn't feel able to talk to him about her PTSD symptoms - there's so many ways he could've helped, he says.
HOLLY: I didn't feel like I could.
KARL: Did you think I wouldn't understand?
HOLLY: No, it's not that. I just... I didn't feel like I could ask for help when everything that happened was my fault. I hooked up with Heath; I took the money. Everything that happened after that is on me.
KARL: No, no - that's categorically not true. And even if it was, doesn't mean you can't ask for help.
HOLLY: Doesn't it? I'm the one who hurt people. Why do I deserve support?
KARL: You're being way too hard on yourself.
HOLLY: Dad, you need to apologise to Felix. He's been a really good friend to me.
KARL: Yeah. I can see that. And I'm glad he saw what was going on when I didn't. Between that psychological assessment and this, I barely deserve a Father's Day card these days.
HOLLY: ... I don't have the bandwidth to make you feel okay about that right now. Sorry.
Holly walks off, leaving Karl looking dejected.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside the hotel, Paul, Sam and Leo are having a meeting about a Yorokobi wine order for a conference. But Paul is distracted looking across the courtyard to where Terese is greeting a newly- arrived Nell. As Terese and Nell head into the café, Leo pulls Paul back to earth and they resume the meeting.
Harold's Café
At a table, Nell thanks Terese for letting her stay, and also for not telling anyone about Nell's last visit - if Toadie had found out about that, he'd never have let her come today.
Felix comes in, and Terese breaks off her chat with Nell to have a word - she's putting on a woodwork course for the folks at Eirini Rising tomorrow, and she'd heard Felix has some experience. It would be paid and all he'd need to do is show the residents a few simple things. Felix says it sounds good; if she texts him the time, he'll be there.
Nell then suggests that she and Terese could watch a movie together when she gets back from her dinner with the Varga- Murphys. We perhaps see a flicker of regret over losing out on another boozy evening cross Terese's face, but then her response feels genuine.
TERESE: Yeah, of course. That'd be lovely. I've missed our movie nights.
NELL: I've missed them too. I've missed *you*.
Nell realises she forgot to ask for no pickles with her food order, and rushes to the counter. Terese looks wistful.
No 30
Cara has got the results of her fertility test, and asks Remi to translate the 'medical stuff' for her. Apparently her FSH and LH levels are normal, and there's nothing that the doctors are worried about.
REMI: Which means in theory, we are good to go!
CARA: I can still have a baby?
REMI: You can still have a baby!
They hug excitedly, and kiss. Cara thinks that with this in mind, they need to reconsider their budget again; and it's only at this point that Dex appears in the doorway, overhearing. Cara suggests to Remi that selling the New York trip that they won in the Lassiter's Longest Lie- In would give them a really good buffer financially, and asks Remi what she thinks. Dex looks worried, again assuming his course is to blame.
Harold's Lakeside
Paul is at a table doing some work on his laptop, when Nell emerges with a cake box she's taking to dinner. She hesitates, then greets him. Paul's pleased to hear that Nell will be staying at Terese's tonight.
PAUL: You know she loves having you around.
NELL: Yeah, I've really missed her... How has she been since we've left?
PAUL: Uh, yeah, she's been keeping herself busy with work. Why? Is there something that's worrying you?
NELL (unconvincingly): No. Just making sure she's as good as she seems. I mean, you know how she is. She doesn't like to bother people.
Paul visibly senses that Nell isn't giving him the whole story, but opts not to press her on it for now. But he says before she goes...
PAUL: If you are ever worried about Terese, you know where to find me, okay?
NELL: ... Yeah.
Paul looks thoughtful as Nell goes on her way.
Harold's Café
Holly is moaning to Felix about Karl's reaction to finding them together last night. Felix reminds her that he's just worried about her as his daughter.
FELIX: I'd be worried about you too if you hang around people with my history.
HOLLY: You're not only what you've done.
FELIX: Yeah. The world doesn't know that yet, though. I've still got to show them who I am now.
Felix adds that it must be tough for Karl to get his head around some of the content of Holly's psych assessment. Holly doesn't think Karl should feel guilty about that - but at this point Karl himself comes in, and apologises to Felix for being out of line yesterday.
KARL: And thank you for being such a good friend to Holly.
FELIX: It's okay, Karl. There's no hard feelings.
KARL: Oh, that's very good of you.
But Karl then pulls up a seat and starts to go overboard on how grateful he and Susan are for Felix's support of Holly.
KARL: As a father, I'm humbled by the -
HOLLY (annoyed): Okay, Dad, that's enough. You've apologised, it's all good.
Karl looks hurt but does as he's told, and leaves them to it.
The 82
Dex is dressed up in a shirt and tie and is walking past the tram when Felix greets him. Dex is looking nervous, and Felix asks him if he's okay. Dex says he is and keeps on walking - but then turns back, and starts asking Felix for advice on how to go about shaking someone's hand! Felix notices the document Dex is carrying, and Dex admits he's on his way to hand in his CV at Grease Monkeys.
FELIX: Follow the lead on shaking hands. If they offer, make eye contact. Nice firm grip. Don't break their hand or anything.
DEX: Yeah, thanks. Any other tips?
FELIX: Well, introduce who you are and just be yourself. You're a good kid. If they've got any sense, they'll see that.
DEX: Yeah, I really want this job.
FELIX: Oh, well, tell them that too. You know, people want staff who want to be there (...) Good luck, buddy.
Felix smiles as Dex goes on his way.
Harold's Lakeside
Paul is still working when Karl shows up and sits at another table.
PAUL: Dr Dolittle! Having another long lunch on Terese's dollar, I assume?
But Karl is distracted and not really listening to Paul's jibes.
KARL: Sorry, Paul, I didn't see you there.
PAUL: Is everything okay?
KARL: Oh, sometimes it's hard to admit to your failure as a parent.
PAUL: ... Yeah. Yeah, it is. It's, uh... it's about the worst feeling in the world. Still, none of us are perfect. I guess the best we can do is just make sure we don't repeat our mistakes.
Karl comes over to join Paul.
KARL: You know, it's bigger than that. I'm beginning to think I should've tried to get custody of Holly when she was a baby. And there was a time when I would've had a good chance in court.
PAUL: Yeah. Problem with that is, then Holly would have been separated from her mother.
KARL: Well, that's what stopped Susan and I going down that route, yeah. But maybe we should've.
PAUL: There's no easy answer here, is there? You know that. Still, I tell you what; I would swap my record as a father with yours any day of the week. In a heartbeat.
KARL (surprised): That's a very kind thing to say. Thank you.
PAUL: It's not a very high bar. I wouldn't get too excited.
They both laugh and, this brief bonding session over, awkwardly go back to what they were doing!
The 82
Dex is on his way back from Grease Monkeys, and thanks Felix for his advice earlier. Dex thinks it went well - they're going to look at his CV and get back to him. Felix says he'll have his fingers crossed for him, and Dex goes on his way. But, looking briefly conflicted, he then turns back to Felix.
DEX: Hey, umm... you should come over for dinner tonight.
FELIX (surprised): What, to your place?
DEX: Yeah, we're celebrating Mum finishing uni. Spag bol.
FELIX: Ah, I think I'm probably the last person your mums want to be celebrating with.
DEX: ... It'd be good for you to be there. For JJ.
FELIX: Why do you say that?
DEX: Just things he's said. And you're not going anywhere, and you'll always be his donor. Might as well get the weirdness over with as soon as possible.
FELIX: Yeah, I just promised your mums I'd steer clear, and I don't want to break that.
DEX: Well, they have been talking about you being part of our lives. I think they're up for it.
FELIX: Well, if they're on board... what time should I be there?
No 22
Terese asks Nell to text her before she comes back here tonight, claiming it's in case she pops over to Eirini Rising - though we're left to wonder whether it's really to give her a chance to hide any wine she might be drinking. Sure enough, the moment Nell leaves for the Varga- Murphys' place, Terese retrieves a bottle of wine from under the sink.
She's about to open it, but then hesitates for a long time. Eventually, she puts it back into its hiding place unopened...
Lassiter's Complex
Paul is outside the pub with Leo, and confesses to him that he feels something is not quite right with Terese - explaining about Nell asking him how Terese has been lately. Leo suggests Nell was probably just being sweet.
PAUL: No. She's hiding something. I've just got to speak to Piper.
Aaron is lingering nearby collecting glasses, and overhears this.
AARON: Piper? You won't hear from her for a few days. She's busy partying it up in Honolulu.
PAUL: Piper's in Hawaii?
AARON: Yeah, yeah - she's been sending me photos all week.
Paul looks alarmed, and is obviously thinking that if Piper's in Hawaii, where did Terese really go when she claimed to be visiting her in Adelaide?

Remi and Cara are preparing dinner, while Dex and JJ are in the living room. There's a knock at the door and Dex looks apprehensive as JJ is sent to answer it. But...
NELL: Surprise!
JJ is thrilled to see Nell but doesn't understand why she's here. She explains how it was all arranged between Toadie and his mums. JJ kisses her and says this is awesome.
JJ (to Cara and Remi): Gotta love it when you two use your powers for good.
Nell is just getting settled in when there's a second knock at the door! Now Dex looks really apprehensive.
DEX: I invited Felix for dinner.
CARA and REMI: What?!
DEX: We have to get to know each other sometime.
REMI: Dexter!
JJ looks bewildered as Dex goes to answer the door. Sure enough, it's Felix, bearing wine and flowers for Cara and Remi. He thanks them for having him, and it takes him a little while to gauge from everyone's reactions what's going on.
FELIX: You didn't know I was coming, did you?
CARA: We... did not.
Dex smiles innocently, then looks worried!
FELIX: Well, if it's not cool, I can leave. I don't want to step on anyone's toes.
Cara and Remi look across at JJ, who shrugs as if to say he doesn't mind.
CARA: It's... it's fine. Can I get you a glass?
FELIX: Just water's fine for now, thanks.
He looks awkwardly into the living room...
No 28
Karl asks for a word with Holly.
HOLLY: Dad, you don't need to keep feeling guilty about that assessment or my panic attacks. We're good. I promise.
KARL: This isn't about me. I want to focus on you. I really think it would help for you to talk to someone. So I have tentatively made an appointment with the psychologist - you don't have to go. But I really do think it would help.
HOLLY: Okay...
KARL: But most of all, I just want to... I just want to listen. I want to hear what you want, and need. Because I love you. And I want to help.
Holly is becoming tearful, and gives Karl a hug.
HOLLY: That assessment doesn't know anything about me or you. All it did was focus on the negative parts of my life; it didn't mention any of the good bits. Like... like how much fun I have with Mum. How much she can make me laugh. Or how special and loved you've always made me feel. Like right now. I just want to forget all about that stupid report, and go back to being normal. Can we do that? Just be plain, boring old normal.
KARL (emotional): Of course we can. Of course we can.
He hugs her again, Karl now also welling up.
No 30
In the kitchen, Cara and Remi corner Dex, asking him what prompted him to invite Felix to dinner.
DEX: Well, Felix was really nice to me earlier. And it made me realise that he deserves a second chance. At least you got a chance to apologise to him again. You said you wanted to.
Dex then gets a text from the manager of Grease Monkeys, and goes into the living room to tell everyone that he's got the job and can start as soon as possible.
FELIX: Ah, I told you they'd be crazy not to hire you.
REMI: You've got a job?!
DEX: Yeah. At Grease Monkeys. After school and weekends.
JJ: Since when did you want a job?
DEX: Ever since they signed me up for those expensive coding courses.
CARA: What? No, Dex, you don't have to get a job to pay for your classes.
DEX: I heard you guys talking about selling the New York trip. But you won't have to now, because my pay's going towards our budget.
REMI: No, Dexie - Mum and I are just saving for something else important, that's all.
JJ (excitedly): Oh, you're gonna do it, aren't you? You're gonna have a baby!
Nell, Dex and Felix look surprised, while Cara and Remi look frustrated that it's out in the open.
DEX: What? Since when is this happening?
His mums look awkward... and so does Felix.
No 22
A sober Terese is cleaning to keep herself occupied when Nell comes back, and asks how dinner went.
NELL: Interesting, to say the least.
Nell explains about Dex having sneakily invited Felix, and JJ telling everyone that Remi and Cara were thinking of having another baby.
TERESE: Interesting is certainly the word!
Nell gives Terese a spontaneous hug.
TERESE: Oh, sweetheart. What's this for?
NELL: I'm so, so proud of you. I was really worried that maybe you were still struggling, but... you seem really good.
TERESE: Listen, I'm really sorry if I scared you the last time you were here.
Both Terese and Nell are too tired for movie night, so they agree on a raincheck, and Nell goes to bed. Once she's gone, Terese gathers her things to go upstairs herself... but then has a thought. She goes to the kitchen cupboard and retrieves the hidden wine bottle, then drops it into her handbag and heads upstairs...
No 30
Remi and Cara are clearing up after dinner, and Felix thanks them for having him.
FELIX: Don't take this the wrong way, but that was the best spag bol I've had since prison.
CARA: Why, did you have a chef in the cells with you?
FELIX: Yeah, we did. At least, he was a chef before he became a gangster... Hey, and thanks for making me feel so welcome.
CARA: It's a start.
REMI: A good one.
Felix is about to head home, then has a thought and turns back to them.
FELIX: Oh... I dunno how far along you are with the whole baby thing, but, umm... if you do decide to go through with it, I'm happy to donate again. You know, if you want.
He smiles and leaves without waiting for a response. Cara and Remi exchange a disbelieving glance!
Coming up on Neighbours
