Lassiter's Hotel
Chelsea eyes Krista's unconscious body hesitantly, then kneels down and tries to rouse her.

CHELSEA: Krista? Are you awake?

She checks Krista's pulse, then breathes heavily and goes over to pick up her phone. She dials triple zero, and is about to hit the call button, but then pauses, considering. It's at this point that Holly appears in the doorway with a pile of towels. She rushes inside.

HOLLY: What happened? Is she okay? Krista?
CHELSEA: It was an accident. I'm calling the ambulance.

Chelsea makes the call, while Holly keeps trying to wake Krista.

Terese is lying on her bed surrounded by work papers - and having another dream about Paul, from the day of her vow renewal.

TERESE: We sat down and we talked about who we are as people. And I told you that you're it for me.
PAUL: It's just a little cover- up. She's not even dead!
TERESE: I love you. I always have and always will.
PAUL: No harm done.
TERESE: I'd kill for you. I'd do anything for you.
PAUL: It's not too late. We can get back to this day. I can give you something that he never can.
TERESE: Nooooo! Toadie!

Terese wakes up with a start, to find real- life Toadie in her bedroom, saying her name!

Penthouse
A shaken Chelsea comes in, and tells Leo and Paul that Krista has had an accident, and is being taken to hospital now. Whether Chelsea is playing up the distress as she tells the story or genuinely feels it, it certainly looks convincing.

CHELSEA: She came to my room... drunk or high. I tried to calm her down... but she hit her head.
LEO: Well, how bad is it?
CHELSEA: I don't know. She wouldn't wake up.

Leo heads off to the hospital, while Paul comforts Chelsea, pouring her a whisky which she gulps back.

PAUL: Oh, you poor darling.

The Waterhole
Susan, Karl and Melanie are having an after- dinner drink. Mel is excited for the end of her community service sentence, which is only a week away. Mel asks after Susan's self- help courses that she was doing in Sydney. Susan says the most practical thing she learned was to identify all the things she's grateful for, and her aspirations and fears.

KARL: Has that given you any insight into Terese's job offer?
SUSAN: Yeah. Umm, I've decided not to take the job.
KAR: Oh, darling...
SUSAN: No, no - I think it's best that you and I keep work and home separate. Now that I'm home, I want to focus all my energy on us. On our happiness. Truly, that's what I want to do.

Karl kisses her.

MELANIE: Aww, you two! Always serving up the warm and fuzzies. Frankly, I find it sickening and I'm leaving.

But she's joking - she's just going home because she's tired. Susan's ready for home too, noting that Karl has to head back to work shortly (so why's he drinking beer?) But before they go, Karl has some news for Melanie - Toadie is coming home this evening, which is partly why they suggested dinner out.

MELANIE: That's very kind of you, but there's no need. If I see him or bump into him or whatever, I'll be fine. But seriously, you guys stay - have dessert. I could do with a quiet walk.

But Mel looks a little rattled as she leaves.

No 22
Toadie is in the kitchen, making Terese a tea to apologise for giving her a fright. He explains he texted about coming round to grab a few things, but Terese admits she didn't see it as she fell asleep. There's an awkward silence, so Terese asks how the kids are. Toadie reports that they're good; he's left them at the motel so as not to 'spring the whole crew' on Terese.

TERESE: Well, I'd love to see them. I've missed them very much.
TOADIE: ... They've missed you too.

He reports that he's looking for a rental property and will hopefully find one soon.

TOADIE: Not that that means I'm giving up on our marriage.
TERESE: Toadie...
TOADIE: Please, I have never stopped loving you. I want to do whatever I can to show you -
TERESE: That's enough. That's enough.
TOADIE: ...
TERESE: Thank you for the tea. You can go upstairs and get what you need.

She looks conflicted as he does as instructed.

No 24
It's dark and quiet when Aaron comes in, but he's still under the influence, and makes a lot of noise despite his best efforts, as he navigates to the kitchen to plug his phone in.

Jane and Nicolette come out of the bedrooms, roused by the noise. Aaron admits he's just got home, but when Nic asks if he was with Krista the whole time, he says no, explaining he went out clubbing 'with some of the boys from the Shed'.

NICOLETTE: So you left Krista all alone?
AARON: Well, she wanted some alone time, so I just...
NICOLETTE: Well, that's not what she needs right now. She was really upset about Penny and the sauna.
AARON: She wanted to have a bath and things. I dunno.

Aaron gets a message from Leo, telling him Krista's in hospital.

Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron and Nicolette arrive and convene with Leo. He doesn't know anything about Krista's condition, but passes on the story Chelsea told about her falling over and hitting her head. Karl emerges to update them on Krista's condition.

KARL: She's got a concussion (...) She's stable.

But they can't see her, Karl says, as she's sleeping currently. That's all he can say, but he's a bit cagey about it, as if he's holding something back. He tells them they'll have to wait till tomorrow, then leaves them to it.

LEO: Chelsea said when she found her, she seemed like she was on something.
NICOLETTE: No, I would take that with a grain of salt.
LEO: No, I dunno. I was already worried she might've relapsed, and Dad said she was pretty upset when he spoke to her. How was she with you guys?

Aaron has been listening quietly, looking very guilty. Nicolette says she was riled up, but repeats Aaron's lie that he left No 32 because Krista was going to take a bath. Aaron confirms this when asked, but feeling too guilty to answer any more questions, he rushes outside, claiming he needs water.

Harold's Café
Paul and Susan are chatting at the counter; Susan is concerned for the café staff, not knowing if or when Haz will return to work.

PAUL: Well, whether he comes back or not, I don't really care (...) Just as long as he sells the lease and does it quickly.
SUSAN: ...
PAUL: What? I don't like the idea of a café being run by a crook in the middle of my business.
SUSAN: Always a ray of sunshine, Paul (!)
PAUL: Oh, god, and here comes the dark cloud.

It's Toadie he's spotted...

TOADIE: Hello, Paul.
PAUL: Hello, Jarrod.

... so Paul makes a swift exit, leaving Toadie and Susan to catch up. It's awkward.

SUSAN: Well, I don't know whether to give you a hug, or a very stern talking to.
TOADIE: Can I suggest both?
SUSAN: Oh, Toadie.

Susan goes for the hug first, and asks after the kids, before Toadie steels himself for his 'stern talking to'.

SUSAN: I just hope that you know what you want now.
TOADIE: I do. Terese.
SUSAN: And that is clear in your mind?
TOADIE: Crystal.
SUSAN: Then I honestly wish you the very best of luck.
TOADIE: Thank you.

Melanie appears at the door during this conversation, but seeing Susan and Toadie, sneaks back out again.

The Waterhole
Holly, Leo, Nicolette and Aaron are all having a drink, comparing notes on Krista's situation. Paul listens from the bar nearby.

HOLLY: I didn't know what to think when I walked into Chelsea's room and she was out cold. Do you know what she was doing there?
LEO: No. No idea. These guys saw her before, and I know she was upset after seeing Dad talk to Penny.

Aaron continues to look guilty; and meanwhile, Chelsea has arrived and overhears some of this too. Paul tells Chelsea that Penny is denying everything.

CHELSEA: Well, if she's sticking to her story, and there's no hard evidence...
PAUL: No, I'll get some evidence. I should take another look at that IT report, I think. There's got to be something.

Chelsea looks worried, but doubles down on her story about Krista 'babbling' and not making sense when she came to her room. Leo gets a call from the hospital, saying Krista's woken up. Chelsea now looks even more worried, as Leo, Nic and Aaron prepare to head back there.

Erinsborough Hospital
Karl is tired after a long late shift (and no doubt the pint he had with dinner hasn't helped!) when Toadie arrives to tease him about 'Dr Pooper'.

KARL: And if you think the first thing we're gonna talk about is that billboard, you can think again.

Karl gives him a welcome- home hug.

TOADIE: I know you're at work, but I just couldn't hold off any longer. I'm just... I'm sorry, okay?
KARL: Before you went away, you confessed you still had feelings for Melanie. Did you ever resolve those feelings?
TOADIE: Absolutely.

Conversation moves on to Susan's job offer at Eirini Rising. Karl thinks it's a 'stroke of genius' by Terese to offer the operations manager job to Susan, and a shame she won't accept it. But Toadie reports that Susan seemed quite excited by all the ideas she had for Eirini Rising when they spoke, which she's planning to pass on to Terese, even though she won't take the role...

Lassiter's Complex
It now seems to be morning, but Chelsea hasn't been to bed, and is drinking a coffee outside the hotel, looking exhausted. Terese is about to breeze by, when...

CHELSEA: Keep walking.
TERESE: Well, I wasn't gonna stop and chat.
CHELSEA: Good. I'm having a bad day; I don't need it getting any worse.
TERESE: You know, what is your problem?!
CHELSEA: You. You've ruined Paul for any other woman.
TERESE: Excuse me?!
CHELSEA: He'll always hold a candle for you, Terese. Never stood a chance.
TERESE: Chelsea, you're in a serious relationship with Paul.
CHELSEA: Our relationship - if you can call it that - it isn't serious. It's convenient.
TERESE: Okay, uh... I'm just gonna say that this is more about you, and not me. I mean, if Paul's not serious about you, it doesn't mean he has feelings for me.
CHELSEA: Come on, Terese! Open your eyes. You're an intelligent woman - how can you be so oblivious? Are you really going to force me to admit the main reason he's with me is to make you feel safer in his orbit? If he has a partner, you'll feel confident he only wants to be friends.
TERESE (flustered): Has he... has he said that to you?
CHELSEA: I'm his bit of fluff. I see it. I called him on it. He didn't deny it. Paul's playing the long game... and I'm the loser. As much as I want to be his number one, I could never compete with you.

Terese is lost for words.

Erinsborough Hospital
Karl is still working as Leo and Aaron head into Krista's hospital room. She's now wide awake, and Karl says they're keeping an eye on her concussion.

KARL: There's some information I couldn't disclose last night, because you're not next of kin.

Having sternly dropped that bombshell, Karl just walks out to leave Krista to explain!

KRISTA: I've been using drugs again. Sorry, Leo, I... I was trying to bury my head and switch my brain off. But then all the coping strategies that I worked on with David, they just went out the window. He'd be so disappointed in me.
LEO: Why didn't you come to me?
KRISTA: Because I didn't want to let you down. And then, yesterday was just really hard... and finding out that Penny might've been the one to lock me in the sauna. It brought all that pain back up, and it was just too much.

Leo turns on Aaron.

LEO: You've been spending time with her. You were supposed to look out for her! (...) You were supposed to let her know that she could come to you with anything.
KRISTA: He did, he's been great.
LEO: Well, clearly not that great! How didn't you notice?
AARON: I did! I knew everything - we spoke about everything. We've been partying together!

Dramatic music...

Penthouse
Paul is at home when Terese comes in, and starts raging at him.

TERESE: Are you using Chelsea to make me feel comfortable being around you?
PAUL: Where did that come from?
TERESE: Chelsea told me! Is it true? Was it a front? Don't lie to me.
PAUL: ...
TERESE: It is.

He gets up and tries to take her hand, but she snatches it away.

PAUL: Terese... Terese, I love you. I always will.
TERESE: Chelsea's a... I can't *count* the number of times I've reminded you that people are human beings! They're not pawns for you to play games with. You'll never learn!
PAUL: She knew what she was signing up for. Besides, it's a two- way street.
TERESE: I can't believe this. And here I was, worrying that she was taking advantage of you!
PAUL: Hang on. You don't even like Chelsea, so why are you getting so upset about this?
TERESE (tearful): Because I feel like a fool. Because I feel like I've let my guard down, and you got me, again! And I let myself see you as a friend, and a confidant, and... somebody who I could trust!
PAUL: Terese, I am all of those. And I can be so much more, if you'll just let me.

But she backs away as he advances.

TERESE: No. I will not. I will never. I'll never have you play me again.

She storms into the lift, glaring at Paul as she goes. He looks sad.

Ramsay Street
Karl arrives home from his shift and greets Susan in the front garden. He wants a chat about her job offer before she goes to Terese to turn it down, explaining he spoke to Toadie and that he mentioned she had lots of ideas for the job.

SUSAN: My concerns haven't gone away, Karl.
KARL: Okay, you live to help. That's who you are. I am not going to let you turn your back on an opportunity to do that in spades. You and I will be fine. I insist you take the job.
SUSAN: Are you telling me what to do?
KARL: Yup.
SUSAN: Brave man.
KARL: Mm. Probably the last chance I'll get to do it, since you're about to become my boss. You are the best candidate. Just go there and say yes.

Susan raises her eyebrows.

No 24
Jane offers Terese something for her headache; she's come round for a chat about the situation with Paul. Terese admits he dreamt about him again last night.

TERESE: And if that wasn't bad enough, I woke up to Toadie standing over me.
JANE: Oh my goodness.
TERESE: At least I'm not confused anymore. At least where Paul's concerned. I see it all now. The dreams are just a warning; he's a recurring nightmare and has no place in my life.
JANE: And what about Toadie?
TERESE: Yeah. Toadie said he'll do whatever it takes to win me back.
JANE: And do you think that might be possible?
TERESE: I won't be any man's second choice.

Erinsborough Hospital
Leo is having a go at Aaron in the corridor.

LEO: I came to you, Az. I told you I was worried about Krista - you were supposed to look out for her.

Nicolette comes in and asks what's going on.

LEO: Krista did drugs last night, with him. And it's not the first time, either - they've been getting on it for I don't know how long.
NICOLETTE: I knew that you were being cagey about something - but this?!

Aaron starts to walk away.

NICOLETTE: No, don't even think about it! You don't get to drop a grenade like that and run.
AARON: I'm sorry!

Meanwhile, Leo returns to Krista's room. She says she's tired and tells him to go home.

LEO: I'm not going anywhere. I'm not letting you go through this alone.
KRISTA: Yes, you are. Look, I broke up with you because I didn't want you to have to deal with me anymore, and that hasn't changed.
LEO: Krista, come on!
KRISTA: No, it's not your job to take care of me anymore. Please just go.

Leo reluctantly leaves.

No 22
Terese is folding some washing, when she comes across the maroon trackie bottoms that Toadie gave her. She pauses for a moment, thoughtful, then screws them up and throws them into the corner. Then, feeling sick all of a sudden, she rushes into the bathroom to vomit...

Harold's Lakeside
Jane is playing with a bubble- wand with Isla on the grass near the café, while Holly is talking to Chelsea, who's sitting at a table.

HOLLY: Apparently, Krista can't remember anything from last night. She's got no idea why she was in your room.
CHELSEA (smiling): Well, that makes two of us. I guess we'll never know.

As they leave, Aaron and Nicolette approach from the car park, Nic visibly still furious and Aaron trying to talk her round.

AARON: Yell at me, alright? You can't possibly say anything worse than I've already said to myself.
NICOLETTE: You don't think?

They approach Jane and Isla. Jane asks what's going on.

NICOLETTE: Aaron's been taking drugs, for weeks. And when he hasn't been high, he's been drunk. Does that about cover it? And now he wants me to say something, so here goes - you've been putting my daughter at risk, and I won't stand for it. So until you pull yourself together, you are not going anywhere near Isla.

Nic sits down next to an upset- looking Isla and hugs her. Jane and Aaron look worried.

- Mackenzie worries about Haz, telling the Kennedys that the path he's on now is all because of her
- In an office somewhere, Wade tells Haz that they have 24 hours to complete their first job
- Aaron tells Jane that Isla can't take his daughter from him; Jane says it's not going to happen
