Lassiter's Hotel
Izzy and Malcolm are in their hotel room. Izzy is selling the idea to Mal of moving into No 24, as he looks at the real estate documentation.
IZZY: Picture it - I'm laying by that pool, I take my top off so that I don't get any tan lines...
MALCOLM: Not what I'm worried about.
IZZY: It's the life we came back for! You can build me a swim-up bar and I'll call it the Scarlet Bar for old time's sake.
MALCOLM: You don't think it's too close to Mum and Dad's, do you?
IZZY: Well, that's the beauty of it. Neither of them think that we're good together, and this way, they'll see us every day, and we can prove to them that we are.
MALCOLM: Seriously, Mum is gonna think we're rubbing her nose in it.
IZZY: Maybe, at first, but it'll pass. Especially with Holly in the mix. I just want to speed through the awkwardness and get us to a good place.
MALCOLM: Can we just help them get their head around us first, before we tell them?
IZZY: Absolutely. I'm all for a good charm offensive. But we can't wait too long, ccs that house won't be there forever.
Mal looks a little apprehensive.
No 28
Susan is moaning to Harold about Izzy.
SUSAN: I promised myself years ago that I would not let her dictate my emotions, and I've never been able to stick to it.
HAROLD: Susan, you are just as strong as Isabelle.
SUSAN: Yes, but every time she waltzes back into my life, she ups the ante - and whatever peace I've managed to find with her behaviour last time just flies straight out the window.
HAROLD: Well, perhaps there's a way of keeping a healthy distance.
SUSAN: Not when she's got her claws into my son... I'm sorry, Harold. I'm sure you don't want to be dragged into this.
HAROLD: Oh, no, I well understand your concern.
Susan observes Harold's been a little quiet, and he admits he's concerned about Toadie and Melanie. He's pleased that the acrimony between them has been resolved, but he tells Susan that 'another situation' has arisen.
HAROLD: I said I wouldn't get involved, but I'm afraid it's coming to a head.

Toadie is telling a surprised Melanie about Amy's declaration that she thinks of him as more than a friend.
MELANIE: Are you sure you've got the right end of the stick?
TOADIE: I know. It sounds crazy.
MELANIE: It doesn't make any sense.
Zara comes in and asks what's going on. Toadie says he should let Amy explain that when she gets back - and at this point, Amy herself walks in, still upset.
AMY: I was hoping you'd all be in bed... which is where I'm going.
TOADIE: Hang on, hang on! Can't we talk, please?
AMY: I'm too tired, Toad.
MELANIE: Don't walk off! You've just dropped this bomb right before our wedding. We both want to understand.
AMY: Can we not talk about this now - please?
MELANIE: It sounds to me like you've had feelings for Toadie for quite some time, and you never said anything to me? I thought we were friends!
AMY: We are.
MELANIE: Not really my idea of friendship.
AMY: I'm really sorry.
Amy tells Zara to go and pack some things, so they can go and stay at a hotel. Toadie and Melanie look at one another in surprise.
No 24
The next morning, Freya is showing Mackenzie and Chloe the Facebook group she's made for the new Ramsay Street history book.
FREYA: Heaps of people are sending in all their photos and memories, it's great. Look, there's, like, Rachel Kinski... Brett Stark... Rick Alessi... Bronwyn Davies... Do you guys know these people?
CHLOE: I think Aaron knew a *Nate* Kinski.
MACKENZIE: I think Rachel must be Susan's stepdaughter from her previous marriage.
CHLOE: This is so cool. All these people lived their lives right here before us.
FREYA: It's amazing how many of them moved to Queensland.
Freya explains that she and Levi are going to surprise Harold by showing him the Facebook group later this morning. She then suggests that she and Mackenzie could then check out some new houses, which Mackenzie agrees to.
There's a knock at the door, and Chloe goes to open it. It's her old best friend and flame, Elly Conway!
ELLY: Hi, Chloe!
CHLOE: ...
Ramsay Street
Toadie returns from the shop with some milk, as Melanie retrieves the West Waratah Star from the mailbox. She admits she's had a sleepless night, worrying about the situation with Amy and how long she's been feeling this way about Toadie. Toadie decides to text Amy to ask when she's coming home.
MELANIE: Before she gets here - I know you spoke to me about this straight away, and I shouldn't even ask, but... there isn't anything mutual there, is there?
TOADIE: Absolutely not! Come on, you know that!
MELANIE: I do, I do. But -
TOADIE: It's completely thrown me, too. I was up all night just racking my brain, thinking if there was some way that I encouraged this. I don't see how.
Toadie gets a reply from Zara, texting on Amy's phone.
TOADIE: They're at the airport. They're boarding a flight to Cairns. She's done a runner!
No 24
Chloe is making tea for herself and Elly, the others having vacated to give them time to chat. We learn that this isn't their first encounter of late - it was Elly that Chloe was visiting in Sydney en route back from Adelaide.
ELLY: When you left me in Sydney, I bet you didn't think I'd follow you back down here.
CHLOE: I really didn't.
ELLY: Even though you turned up at my doorstep first.
CHLOE: Well, you told me you'd broken up with Shaun and moved back from Switzerland - I was already at an airport, it made sense to check on you.
ELLY: I also told you, apart from living with my mum, that I was great, and Aster was great. Even Shaun's fine - he's got himself a Bondi Beach pad.
CHLOE: I'm glad.
They smile at one another meaningfully, having run out of words for a while.
ELLY: I wasn't gonna chase you, Chlo - but knowing this place was up for sale, I knew it'd get snapped up pretty quickly (...) which would mean that you wouldn't have much time to decide whether it was still Adelaide, or... whether it might be Sydney now?
CHLOE: Just when I'd made a decision, you had to throw me a curveball.
ELLY: You took off, before we had time to discuss it properly.
CHLOE: I was confused... it sounded like you were implying that we could be a thing again.
ELLY: Not implying. I *knew* we could. You just didn't give me a chance to explain. But let me try and do that. Since leaving Erinsborough, I have been thinking about you constantly. At first, I thought I was just missing a friend. But as time went on, I realised, it is so much more than that. Shaun and I - we make sense, we're... it's easy. But I never felt for him what I feel for you.
CHLOE (laughs nervously): I hope you didn't tell him that.
ELLY: He knows it well enough to realise. Shaun's a good guy, but... he never topped me from trying to figure out who I am.
CHLOE: And what did you figure out?
ELLY: That I love you. I want to be with you, Chloe.
Chloe can't quite believe what she's hearing. Shortly afterwards...
CHLOE: Elly, we've been here before -
ELLY: No, just let me finish, okay? Last time when we were together, you told me we didn't have a balanced relationship, because you were all in, and I didn't know who I was. And you were right. I didn't even know if I identified as being queer. But I do now. You told me you wanted to be with someone who was on the same level of self-knowledge and self-acceptance as you are. And I know it's taken me a while to get there... but I am now. Chloe, I have always loved you. And this time, I'm ready. I'm sorry - I just didn't know how to tell you that when you came and visited.
CHLOE (emotional): ...
ELLY: I'm sorry - I know this is a lot. Just take your time. We can talk about it whenever you're ready.

Harold is with Karl and Susan. Malcolm has messaged Karl to invite him and Susan to lunch.
KARL: He says, 'Would you like to join *us*?', so I assume...
SUSAN: Isabelle will be there.
KARL: Mm. I'm not bouncing up and down with excitement either, but... it's a good chance to see Mal.
SUSAN: I was talking to Harold about this last night, and he suggested that we get some space, weren't you?
HAROLD: Well, I may have said something, yeah.
KARL: I appreciate that, Harold, but we can't avoid them forever.
Karl adds that they need to keep an eye on things for Mal's sake, but Susan says if Izzy pushes her buttons again it won't necessarily help Mal at all. Levi emerges from his bedroom, and asks if Harold is ready to head out for the surprise he and Freya have arranged. At this point, Elly drops in to reconnect with her aunt and uncle, and they're thrilled to see her.
SUSAN: You remember Harold, don't you?
ELLY: Yes, it's been a while. I think I was about sixteen - but it's lovely to see you again!
HAROLD: Likewise!
LEVI: Hey, Elly. How's Bea?
ELLY: Yeah, yeah - she's great. I'll have to catch you up.
Levi and Harold head out, and Karl asks how long Elly is staying.
ELLY (uncertainly): Not too long... do you guys have a bed for me?
The Kennedys confirm that they can make it work. We learn that Aster isn't on the trip; she's stayed with Shaun in Sydney, Shaun having agreed to return to Australia despite the split from Elly, presumably so he could be in Aster's life. Susan's keen to hear all Elly's news, including what's brought her back here. Karl reminds Susan about Mal and Izzy's brunch, but Susan is happy for the excuse not to attend!
ELLY: Mal as in *your* Mal?
KARL: Yes, the one and only.
ELLY: Oh, I'd love to see him. Can I come with you?
SUSAN: ... Uh... yeah. Yes, actually. I wouldn't mind your take on his new relationship.
ELLY: Is there something I'm missing?
Harold's Café
Mackenzie and Freya are getting a coffee, and gossiping about Chloe and Elly.
FREYA: When did Chloe have, like, this big love? Because I know she was married to Pierce, right?
MACKENZIE: A mere footnote, apparently (...) I wonder why Elly's down here? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
They agree to meet up later for a house viewing, and Mackenzie leaves, just as Harold and Levi come in. Harold is very curious to know what's going on - and Freya unveils a huge book from a bag, bound and embossed with the words 'The History of Ramsay Street' on the front. Harold is thrilled.
FREYA: We thought it was too good of a tradition to let go of.
LEVI: Yeah. And now it's not just the people who live on the street that can write in it.
FREYA: We put out a call on Facebook, and people from everywhere are sending photos and stories that we can transfer into it.
HAROLD: Oh, I don't know what to say!
LEVI: Actually, quite a few people have mentioned you specifically in what they wrote. We got Eddie Buckingham...
HAROLD: Mm.
LEVI: Annalise Hartman...
HAROLD: Mm.
LEVI: Lisa Elliot...
HAROLD: Who?
LEVI: I don't know. Evan Hancock...
HAROLD: Yeah... well, yes, I remember most of them, but - oh, you'll have me choking up!
FREYA: We actually thought that you should make the first entry. And then we can start bringing in stuff from everyone else.
HAROLD (thrilled): Oh, that'd be an honour and a privilege.
LEVI: And when it's done, we can give it back to Toadie to be the caretaker.
Harold agrees - but the mention of Toadie reminds him of 'something that I've been neglecting', and he wanders off to take care of it...
The Waterhole
Izzy, Malcolm, Karl, Susan and Elly have convened for brunch. Mal expresses regret that he and Elly didn't catch up while she was in Europe.
IZZY: I love the Swiss Alps.
SUSAN: Isn't that where you met your last husband?
IZZY: Oh, Clint loved high altitudes. May he rest in peace.
Elly and Mal agree that they're excited for Aussie summers again, and Karl says it's nice to have them back so their brood is within arms' reach.
IZZY (to Susan): I don't know how you handle it, all your babies and grandbabies being so far away. I wouldn't have thought you'd be able to stand it.
Susan slices some bread rather vigorously with a knife as she listens to Izzy!
IZZY: I mean, I hate being so far away from Holly.
SUSAN (passive aggressive): Yet somehow, you manage!
IZZY: Just... wanted to sympathise, mother to mother.
Susan just glowers at her, as Elly asks Izzy what's good to see and do in London should Elly ever go there.
IZZY: I could write the book. Actually there's *the* most beautiful boutique hotel. It's where Mal and I had our first date.
Susan's grip on her knife tightens!
IZZY: Remember that lamb ragu we had for room service dinner? Actually, I spilled it all over myself and Mal was adamant we wouldn't waste the food, so -
MALCOLM: They don't need to hear about it.
Susan is fully grimacing now, as Karl and Elly look uncomfortable.
IZZY (chuckles): TMI!
Susan's eyes narrow.

Harold has convened with Toadie and Melanie to discuss the situation with Amy. Harold wonders if he should have said something to Toadie earlier, but Toadie accepts that Amy had tried to convince Harold there was nothing to worry about.
HAROLD: For what it's worth, I think she's got herself thoroughly confused.
TOADIE: (...) In the meantime, we're down a set of hands with the wedding prep.
MELANIE: The wedding dress! The catering! (...) We're about to walk into more chaos than a tarot full of Towers!
Melanie sighs dramatically - but who should appear at the front door to lift their spirits, but Toadie's niece Yashvi...
YASHVI: It sounds like you need yours truly!
Thrilled to see her, Toadie gets up and gives Yashvi a hug.
YASHVI: I'm here to help you out.
The Waterhole
The brunch from hell continues, as Karl asks Izzy and Malcolm if they know where they want to live. Mal replies that this is 'still up in the air'. Elly gets a text from Chloe, saying, 'Ready to talk if you are' - so she excuses herself, saying she has something really important to attend to, and leaves.
IZZY: We're making a shortlist of houses.
MALCOLM: Nothing definite, though...
Karl asks them what their priorities are in a house - Mal says there needs to be room for both Holly and Susannah when she visits, but Izzy talks over him.
IZZY: My priority is a pool!
SUSAN (snarky): Sounds like you haven't worked out your priorities as a couple. I suspect you'll have wildly differing expectations.
MALCOLM: Oh, we're willing to compromise.
SUSAN: You mean, *you* are. I can't imagine Isabelle giving up anything on her wish list for you.
IZZY: Actually, there is a place that we've been looking at that has *everything* that Malcolm needs.
MALCOLM: Izzy...
SUSAN: Oh, I bet you're thinking Paul's penthouse. Sadly, it's not for sale.
IZZY: No. But there is a place on Ramsay Street that is.
Susan scowls...
No 24
Chloe is chatting to Paige; Chloe wonders if she's invited Elly round too soon.
PAIGE: Don't ask me. I'm biased, and I want you to come to Adelaide. But... I dunno. All I can say is, I love you both, but be careful.
CHLOE: Honestly, I don't know if my heart is capable of taking a risk on her again.
PAIGE: I don't blame you.
There's a knock at the door, and Elly walks in. She briefly greets Paige and they promise to catch up later, before Paige leaves them to it.
ELLY: I thought you would've wanted more time.
CHLOE: ...
ELLY: Obviously you're not gonna jump at this - but please, just don't say no yet.
CHLOE: ... Of all the relationships I've ever had, you've meant the most. But how can I know this is real?
The Waterhole
Malcolm explains to his parents that he and Izzy only just heard about No 24 being on the market.
MALCOLM: I haven't even seen it yet. Izzy knew I had concerns. It's just more of a thought bubble, really.
IZZY: We wanted to make sure that the two of you were okay first.
KARL: Well, your mother will need a little bit of time for this news to sink in.
Susan glares at him.
KARL: As will I.
But Susan has had enough. She gets up and walks out, and Karl gingerly follows. Izzy tries in vain to put a positive gloss on things.
IZZY: Thought she was gonna go crazy there for a minute - but she was as cool as a cucumber!
Malcolm looks bemused.
Ramsay Street
Susan is looking at the 'for sale' sign outside No 24, while Karl watches from a distance across the street. Paige emerges from the house.
PAIGE: Ah, Susan - look, I don't know if you've heard...
SUSAN (grimly): Oh, I'm all over it. It's just the latest in a long series of very unpleasant shocks.
PAIGE: Yeah. I did warn Izzy that you might not like it.
SUSAN: She knew.
PAIGE: She just seemed so confident that it would all just -
SUSAN (desperate): You have to make sure that she doesn't get this house.
PAIGE: How?!
SUSAN: Find another buyer. Someone with more money. Anything! Whatever it takes! Just make it stop!
Susan hurries away, leaving Paige shocked.
No 30
Mackenzie has called round to catch up with Yashvi, and greets her with a hug, while Melanie prepares cocktails for them all.
MACKENZIE: How's Ned?
YASHVI: Same super-hot, brooding art boy.
TOADIE: Do I detect a hint of pride in the new-slash-old boyfriend?
YASHVI: Well, it's funny how timing works. We just both needed to mature. And now we're on the same page, so... we're golden.
MELANIE: When it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
She hands out the cocktails.
MELANIE: Greyson Grasshoppers, in honour of Hendrix.
YASHVI: Here's mud in your eye, Hendo.
They all toast Hendrix.
YASHVI: At least I'm here to represent the Sharma-Rebecchi lame-os who can't come to the wedding.
TOADIE: No, no - I don't blame anyone who can't rock up at such short notice.
YASVHI: Well, you've got the best one, anyway.
Mackenzie asks if Amy is likely to come back before the wedding, but Toadie has no idea. Melanie's worried they're crazy trying to pull off a wedding in so little time. Toadie explains to Yashvi that, in order to surprise one another, they've split organisation of the day into two - he's doing the ceremony, while Melanie organises the reception. Yashvi volunteers to help, and Mackenzie says she's keen, too.
MELANIE: Oh, that's very sweet of you, darling, but I couldn't ask.
MACKENZIE: No, I don't mind. I actually think it'll be good for me to focus on something fun and happy.
Toadie thanks them, and gives them both a hug.
YASHVI: I know we're heroes, but save the applause till we pull this thing off.
No 24
Chloe and Elly are still talking.
ELLY: There's nothing standing in front of us this time. I just wish I knew what else to say.
CHLOE: Maybe there is nothing.
ELLY: I know what our life would look like together. We could get our own place, maybe somewhere near the beach. We'd spend half the time running around after Aster, like this cute little family. And on the days when she's with Shaun, we could go away for the weekend - or we would spend our days at home cooking, or spend the day in bed, wrapped up in each other's arms. Just the two of us. It's what I've been dreaming about.
But Chloe looks deeply ambivalent, as if scared to let herself believe it.
CHLOE: We had dreams last time. It was reality that was the problem.
ELLY: Whatever reality throws at us, we can deal with it together this time. You are the only partner I want in my life.
They share a brief kiss on the lips, before Chloe pulls away.
CHLOE: Elly... I need to, umm... I need to get my head around this.
ELLY: Just give me a call whenever you're ready.
No 28
Karl tells Susan he expects there will be a lot of interest in No 24.
KARL: With a bit of luck, somebody might beat Mal and Izzy to it. That's even if they decide to make an offer. Didn't seem to me that Malcolm was completely on board.
SUSAN: Oh, it's impossible to know what Malcolm's thinking at the moment. Isabelle's corrupting him at every turn.
Malcolm comes in.
MALCOLM: To be clear, that's not how I wanted to tell you about Number 24.
SUSAN: But Isabelle couldn't wait to stir us up, is that right?
MALCOLM: That's not fair. You were asking questions and she was answering honestly.
KARL: Malcolm, you must know moving in two doors down is asking for trouble!
MALCOLM: Even if it means you guys seeing more of me and Izzy, and for all of us feeling like family a bit quicker?
KARL: A sort of baptism by fire - is that how she sold it to you?
MALCOLM: Can't you see how hard she's trying? All we want is for you to accept our relationship - be happy that we're happy.
KARL: It might be too much to ask.
MALCOLM: Honestly, how many people would be willing to move closer to their partner's parents?
SUSAN: I don't think it's gonna do us any good to keep discussing this. Malcolm, however you choose to move forward, your dad and I will do our very best to try to support you.
MALCOLM (surprised): Thanks, Mum. I'll take that.
Karl also looks at Susan with surprise.
