Harold's Café
Harlow insists she doesn't know where Brent is, but Hendrix doesn't believe her, saying she's an unconvincing liar.
HARLOW: Yes, okay, fine, I found him (...) He's sorting out what to do next. Please don't say anything, okay? He just needs more time.
HENDRIX: I want to talk to him.
No 32
Jenna is with Aaron and David, while Emmett plays basketball outside; Aaron says Emmett's a little overwhelmed given how up-in-the-air everything is for him right now. Jenna's had a call from her boss about transferring to the New Zealand site; it's been approved.
JENNA: Thing is, they want me to start ASAP. Somebody's quit, so I'm just waiting to hear from the foster agency about the move. And Emmett's decision, of course.
David and Aaron don't know what to say.
JENNA: I'm not trying to make things harder for you guys. You've done right by my kids. I want to do right by them, too.
Jenna gets a call, and goes into the hall to take it.
AARON: We're about to lose Emmett, aren't we?
DAVID: Maybe. But I can't see him agreeing to go while Brent's still missing.
AARON: Really? Even if it means living with his mum again?
DAVID: That is what he's always wanted.
AARON: I mean, it has been nice, seeing them together again this time round. They seem more settled, don't they? You know what, maybe this is it. Maybe this is the payoff for being great foster parents.
Jenna comes back in. Leila from the foster agency has approved her taking Emmett to New Zealand, if that's what he wants. David and Aaron smile, ambivalent.
The Waterhole
Mackenzie points out Toadie's shirt buttons are done up wrongly, and he re-fastens them, while telling her about a client he's just lost. He notes that Mackenzie doesn't seem very happy, either, and asks what's wrong.
MACKENZIE: It's Harlow. It's like she's just ghosted me. The only person who seems to matter to her right now is Brent (...) Harlow was one of my main people. And main people don't ignore you.
She says she's still got Hendrix, who's a really good friend, and that she's glad the awkwardness with him has gone. Toadie looks shifty. Mackenzie decides to text Hendrix, to ask him to be her volleyball partner for Roxy's tournament.
Beaumaris Beach
Brent is in the boatshed he's been camping out in, looking at the photo of Emmett he's brought with him. He's horrified when Hendrix shows up, followed closely by Harlow. Hendrix accuses Brent of roping Harlow into his life of crime. Brent is annoyed Harlow has brought Hendrix.
HARLOW: I can explain.
BRENT: You told the one person worse than the cops where I am?
Hendrix tells Brent he pressured Harlow into telling him, and that Brent's making a 'gutless move' by making Harlow an accessory.
BRENT: You've put her through worse.
HENDRIX: Yeah. I have. That's how I know that the lying and the hiding, it only hurts people that you care about. You need to turn yourself in.
BRENT: You came all the way down here to tell me something I already know?
HENDRIX: Okay, well, let's go. Come on.
Brent says he can't go yet, because of Emmett.
BRENT: I know my brother better than anyone. And if I show up and get arrested before he gets on that plane, he'll refuse to go. I've screwed up that kid's life so many times, and I can't do it again (...) Once I know he's on that plane, I'll turn myself in, I swear. Just let me do it in my own way.
Harold's Café
Nicolette asks Chloe if she's mad at her for causing the rift between her and Aaron. Chloe says she's not blaming Nic, but that it 'just sucks'. Chloe adds that she's hoping Emmett's reunion with Jenna will help matters.
No 32
On the patio, David, Aaron, Jenna and Emmett are having a meeting about Emmett's future. David and Aaron tell him they'll support him, whatever he decides. Emmett's worried about what will happen if Brent comes back and they've gone. Jenna says Aaron and David will let him know where they are. She promises that if Brent does hand himself in, she'll help him out of it; he won't be alone this time.
JENNA: And neither will you. I'll be here with you. Brent's always wanted that for us. But like the guys said, it's your choice, and we'll support whatever decision you make.
Emmett says it would be easier for David and Aaron without him here, as Nicolette could move back in. But David tells him not to let that influence his decision.
AARON: Hey, you know there's always a place here for you if you want it.
DAVID: You can have more time to think about it.
EMMETT: No (...) I don't need more time. I want to go with Mum.
Jenna laughs, overjoyed. an emotional Aaron and David put on a brave face as Emmett asks if that's okay, telling him, of course it is.
The Waterhole
Toadie is still with Mackenzie, when Hendrix arrives to discuss his and Mackenzie's volleyball team-up. Mackenzie moans that Harlow cancelled on their plans together today because of Brent, but Hendrix is quick to tell her that that isn't the case.
MACKENZIE: How do you know?
HENDRIX: She's just busy with uni deadlines, that kind of stuff.
Toadie looks suspicious, and Mackenzie is surprised Hendrix and Harlow have even been talking to one another. Hendrix claims he hasn't; he's just assuming because Harlow is a 'study nerd'. Toadie looks even more suspicious, as Hendrix and Mackenzie get up to fetch drinks.
No 32
Aaron and David are coming to terms with having to say goodbye to Emmett again, but console themselves knowing that Jenna seems genuine this time about having changed. David adds that they can talk about Nicolette moving back in now Emmett is going.
DAVID: Her Mama Bear attitude really came out of nowhere. And it makes me nervous about what we're gonna be up against, raising our child.
AARON: Yeah. Look, I guess it can't hurt to ask. And what we really do need is to reconnect.
DAVID: Nicolette is a reasonable person. She was great when she first moved in here. We need that version of her to talk through baby non-negotiables.
Jenna comes in; she's booked tickets for her and Emmett to Auckland. The flight is tomorrow morning.
JENNA: I know it's quick, but the sooner we settle in, the sooner we can work on being a family.
DAVID: And we want that for you, too. So if there's anything we can do to make tomorrow easier...
AARON: Yeah, we're here for it.
Jenna smiles.
Lassiter's Complex
Terese and Paul run into Nicolette and Chloe, and ask if they've heard any news about Emmett. They haven't, but Paul says he's convinced it's the right move for him to go to New Zealand - he and Jenna really do love each other, and he thinks she'll stay on the wagon this time as she knows how important it is.
Emmett turns up on his bike, and reveals he's made his decision; he's leaving tomorrow. He thanks Paul for tracking down Jenna and convincing her to come back for him. Paul says it didn't take much convincing, and says he's glad it's worked out for him. Emmett also apologises to Nicolette for not saying something earlier about the break-ins, and her getting hurt. Nicolette says that means a lot.
Paul and Terese take Emmett for a last milkshake.
CHLOE: I know Aaron and David really love Emmett, but I think this is the best thing for him. Maybe for us, too.
Nicolette smiles, and they walk off, hand-in-hand.
Beaumaris Beach
Brent and Harlow are also hand-in-hand, walking along the rocks by the sea. They're relieved that Hendrix is not going to dob Brent in. Harlow gets a message from Terese, telling her that Emmett is definitely going to New Zealand with Jenna tomorrow.
BRENT: ... Guess I'll turn myself in, then.
HARLOW: Hey. I didn't think it'd be as soon as this.
BRENT: I know (...) I can't even say goodbye to my own brother.
Brent takes off his wristband, and gives it to Harlow, asking her if she can give it to Emmett for him.
BRENT: But don't tell him it's from me.
HARLOW: Don't worry. I won't give him a reason to not get on the plane.
BRENT: He's moving on to his new life, and I'm stuck here with my old one.
HARLOW: Hey, it might not be as bad as you think.
BRENT: None of the stuff that I've done before has been as serious as this. This is really gonna be hard to come back from.
No 32
Aaron emerges from the kitchen where he's been preparing Emmett's favourite meal, mac and cheese, for his last night with them. He joins David on the patio; and Paul arrives with Emmett, back from their milkshakes. Jenna comes out and tells them all their taxi to the airport is booked for 9am. An excited Emmett goes inside to pack, and Aaron and David go indoors too.
JENNA (to Paul): Thank you for making this happen.
PAUL: No, Emmett deserves a break. You just make sure you do the right thing by him this time, yeah?
JENNA: I will. And you'll keep up your end of the deal, right?
PAUL: Oh, yeah. I'm a man of my word.
Paul smiles mysteriously.
Later, in the house, Aaron and David are getting sad about Emmett's departure.
AARON: It's gonna be weird not tripping over his shoes in the living room all the time.
DAVID: Yeah, or banging on the bathroom door when he's been in the shower forever.
AARON: I think we're gonna have to get used to having less food in the house.
DAVID: Actually, hold off on that, cos I'm gonna need to eat my feelings.
Chloe and Nicolette turn up, explaining they wanted to say goodbye to Emmett, and check the boys are doing okay - they've even brought a 'care package' full of junk food, and offer to cook them breakfast at No 24 tomorrow after Emmett leaves.
DAVID: That'd be great. It'd be hard eating here without Emmett at the table.
Chloe also offers her shoulder to cry on if needed.
AARON: Thank you, Elliott.
No 30
Mackenzie and Hendrix are eating snacks on the couch, while Toadie is in the kitchen. Mackenzie quietly tells Hendrix that Karl is convinced Toadie's seeing someone.
MACKENZIE: He's been working late, and I mean, you would've smelled his aftershave before.
HENDRIX: Yeah, yeah, it's like walking through a fragrance section in a department store.
Toadie overhears the end of this, but Hendrix makes out he was talking about a kid from school. Mackenzie still hasn't heard from Harlow. Hendrix is quick to say that Harlow will just be in 'study mode', and Toadie pointedly asks Mackenzie to go and bring in some washing from the line, so he can talk to Hendrix alone. He slaps Hendrix's hand as he reaches for more snacks!
TOADIE: Are you gonna tell Mackenzie what's going on, or am I?
HENDRIX: ... It's complicated.
TOADIE: Oh, you reckon? (!) You're back on with Harlow, and you're keeping it from Mackenzie.
HENDRIX: What?!
TOADIE: Come on! She's gonna be so upset when she finds out what you've been up to. You are her main people, and you're keeping this massive secret from her.
HENDRIX: Me and Harlow are not back together.
TOADIE: Oh, don't try that on me! I saw you lie to Mackenzie's face about seeing Harlow today.
HENDRIX: It's not like that.
TOADIE: I know that Harlow was in the hotel room with you.
HENDRIX: Yes. Yes, I was helping her out at work.
TOADIE: Come on, do you expect me to believe that?
HENDRIX: It's the truth!
TOADIE: Oh yeah? Alright, then why don't you tell Mackenzie that?
HENDRIX: Why don't *you* tell Mackenzie about *your* little affair that you've been having? Hmm?
TOADIE: ... I don't know what you're talking about.
HENDRIX: No-one books a hotel room for a business meeting, mate. And cleans their own toilet. You were trying to get rid of me so you could have your own little afternoon delight.
TOADIE: In your dreams!
HENDRIX: That's not my dreams. That's yours. Who is she?
TOADIE: No-one.
HENDRIX: It's pretty easy to find out who booked that room, if you want me to go digging?
TOADIE: Alright, fine. Fine, I won't say anything about what you've got going on, if you don't say anything about me.
They agree on this deal. Hendrix cheekily reaches for another snack, as Toadie looks annoyed.
Ramsay Street
Aaron and David are helping to load Emmett's cases into the waiting taxi.
JENNA (to Aaron and David): Thank you isn't really enough for everything you've done.
DAVID (sadly): Well, we've loved every minute of it.
JENNA: You're already great dads for my kids. This baby got really lucky with you two.
Jenna gets into the taxi, just as Harlow turns up. She gives Emmett the wristband as Brent requested.
EMMETT: Brent has one exactly like this.
HARLOW: That's why I got it for you. So you can have a piece of him, even if it is just a memory. This is your shot, okay? Don't mess it up. Don't sit at the back of the classroom with the guys, or at the front with the nerds. And don't worry about where your brother is. Just go out and live your best life, because you deserve it. And that's what he would've wanted, and you know that, right?
EMMETT: I get it now. Thank you, Harlow. You're the best.
DAVID: We're so excited for you, mate.
AARON: Hey, this is your chance, buddy, alright? You deserve it. But we're gonna miss you like crazy, you know?
EMMETT: I never had a dad. And I didn't think I needed one. But having two has been kind of awesome.
DAVID: We're so proud to have been in your life, mate.
David hugs Emmett, and so does Aaron.
AARON: We're gonna miss you, mate. Go on, get out of here.
Emmett joins Jenna in the taxi, and waves goodbye. Harlow films this on her phone. David and Aaron look upset as the taxi drives away.
Beaumaris Beach
A musical montage begins, as Harlow has rejoined an emotional Brent, and shows him the video of Emmett and Jenna leaving.

Beaumaris Beach
We're back with Brent and Harlow again, looking sad.

Paul looks at messages he's sent to Harlow. They read, 'Just checking you're okay', 'Let me know if you need anything', and 'Harlow, I'm sorry'. She hasn't replied.

Deep in thought, Paul puts the phone down.
No 24
Aaron and David have now joined Chloe and Nicolette for breakfast, as arranged.
AARON: It's gonna take a while to get used to having no teens in the house.
DAVID: We were hoping we could have a chat. We want you to know that you and the baby are our number one priority.
AARON: Yeah, always have been.
DAVID: And we're sorry if it didn't feel like that when Emmett was here.
NICOLETTE: Thank you, guys, that means a lot. And I'm sorry, too.
AARON: Thank you. And look, we understand that you probably love living with Chloe - I mean, come on, who wouldn't? But we thought maybe you'd think about moving back in with us?
DAVID: It'd go a long way to getting things back on track.
NICOLETTE: Uh, you're right, guys - I do love living here with Chloe. I feel really happy and settled.
AARON: Well, can you just at least consider it? Like, we only want what's best for the baby here.
DAVID: Exactly. This isn't about us, or you.
Sensing tension mounting, Chloe suggests they talk about it after breakfast.
NICOLETTE: Really, we don't need to talk about this anymore. I'm happy - I'm gonna stay.
Nicolette goes out to the car, where she's left the bagels for breakfast.
AARON: She didn't even want to hear us out.
Uncomfortable, Chloe goes to make coffees.
AARON: Chloe, you get it, right? If Nic goes back to living with us, like, we can go back to supporting each other through the pregnancy. Just like we used to.
CHLOE: I get what you're saying. I understand. But I don't know what you want me to do about it.
AARON: I want you to work on her. I want you to talk her around.
Chloe doesn't want to get involved, but Aaron says Nic will listen to her.
CHLOE: I think you're underestimating her stubborn streak.
AARON: Yeah, and that's exactly why we're asking for your help.
CHLOE: No, you're asking me to take sides.
AARON: You know what? If you're not even willing to try to talk her around, I think you've already chosen one.
