Number 32
Mishti stands almost in shock for a few seconds before Chloe tentatively walks to the back door with her arms held up as if she is surrendering.
MISHTI: Oh my god, I thought you were Dilhan.
Chloe seems relatively calm about the whole experience in comparison and whether it's meant as comfort or not, says that Mishti missed her (and Clancy) by a country mile!
The Waterhole
The K's and their nieces chat about Toadie's predicament and Susan remarks that at least this time "there is no chance of the DNA being messed around this time."
Mark comes over to see if Elly is doing something in the morning and unluckily for him she is - helping Bea and Xanthe study. Since its bad news, he scurries off and Karl is in a hurry to get home too, to prepare his speech for the forthcoming conference where he is hoping that the Erinsborough trial shows as much positive news as the other ongoing trials that are further ahead.
Number 32
"It was just a warning shot," Mishti explains to Chloe and that she did issue a warning, which Chloe didn't hear because Clancy was barking.
Aaron comes around as he thought he heard a bang and Chloe brings him up to speed on what happened but adds that "everyone is fine." "Did you shoot at her?" Aaron asks and Mishti confirms that she did, and it goes against all her training. Chloe explains that she was creeping around outside in case Dilhan came calling, as she knew Mishti was freaked out that he would.
MISHTI: Instead I could have killed you or Clancy.
Chloe reassures her that didn't happen, everything is fine and doesn't think Mishti should report it either. We know Mishti is a stickler for the rules and wants to report it immediately, so Aaron volunteers to drive the ladies to the station.
Harold's café
Chloe and Aaron sit patiently waiting in the café whilst Mishti gives her statement and from how they are talking, she's been in there a while. Shane arrives moments before Mishti does to hear the news - they will conduct an internal review and then decide whether she keeps her job or not.
Bea's place (next day)
Bea is on the phone to Finn and tells him that she misses him and hopes the trial will be over soon. Finn lies and says it is dragging on and he could be at least another day in Sydney although does add that he has used some of the down time to look at engagement rings for her. He perks up tremendously when she tells him about what she was talking to her family about, (in particular Karl's forthcoming speech) and after they have hung up, Finn gets onto his laptop and starts doing something.
Number 32
Leo is round and seems very concerned that Mishti could lose her job. "I deserve to," she remarks and of course has a backup job already - working at The Shed. Leo thinks its all his fault and tells her about the set-to with Dilhan that caused Chloe to be jumpy. "I wish you hadn't got involved," Mishti tells him bluntly before adding that "it wasn't your fault," and instead is giving herself a hard time for letting her anxiety get to her.
LEO: No-one blames you for being so scared.
MISHTI: Except me.
Harold's café
As they chat, Aaron tries to tell his sister that she doesn't need to laugh off what happened last night. Eventually she admits to being "a little bit shaken," but is keeping quiet so not to make Mishti feel bad.
CHLOE: But a couple of inches in the other direction...it could have been me.
Aaron reminds her she can use the police counsellors, but she doesn't think its that bad but thanks him for caring.
AARON: I don't really have a choice, do I? I don't have any other annoying sisters to bother!
Hospital
With the girls taking over the livingroom at home, Susan meets up with Karl outside the hospital for a cuppa and he tells her about the great news from the other trials, in particular the one in Bucharest. Both seem extremely thrilled at the news apparently in that trial, patients similar to Susan have regenerating myelin within a 6-12 month timeframe with virtually no side effects. "It hasn't been peer reviewed," he adds, this is just his interpretation from the data, but thinks that its showing more than they could ever have hoped for and plans on talking about it in his presentation.
Number 28
Elly declares it's time for a study break and Bea volunteers to show them some mindfulness meditation, which they then do. Bea seems curious that Xanthe seems to know the routine (and the words) so she explains that Finn used to teach it to them occasionally before lessons. "That horrible guy you told me about?" Bea asks and silently Xanthe just nods her head. Bea explains that her boyfriend Patrick taught her and apologises for bringing it up but despite who taught her it, Xanthe agrees that it is good to meditate.
The pair then compliment Bea on having a boyfriend who is so chilled out, little knowing of course exactly who her boyfriend actually is!
Lassiters hotel
Karl is going over his speech in the courtyard when Clive comes out to chat with him. He acknowledges that he hasn't seen eye to eye with Karl on the MS trial but is sure that he will do the hospital proud at the conference. Karl thanks him and adds that he might be "blown away," and then explains to him about the preliminary data he's seen in the overseas trials. Clive isn't sure Karl is doing the right thing, but he's so hyped with what he's seen that nothing is going to stop his speech!
Trial HQ/Number 28
Finn's smile is wiped off his face when he sees the visitor to #28 - Mark! He is round with study supplies and volunteers to help Bea with the bits she is stuck at in the module she is working through.
Finn is forced to quickly closes his laptop when a colleague comes in. The guy remarks that it seems Finn doesn't have a life outside of work! "I've got a girlfriend," he replies and admits to dating her because she reminded him of an ex but makes it clear to the guy that he is over her.
FINN: Believe me mate, she caused me nothing but trouble. Same goes for the people close to her. They're dead to me.
Number 28
Everyone has relocated out to the backyard and while Bea and Xanthe are otherwise occupied (doing some yoga poses), Elly thanks Mark for helping Bea out. He is more than happy to do that for his apprentice plus it means he is with Elly too.
Susan swaps places with Mark and she tells Elly all about the trial's great results that Karl has discovered. They are soon joined by the girls and after Bea gets a text invite to be Yashvi's partner in the scavenger hunt, Susan agrees to Xanthe's request to be her partner.
When they are alone, Elly checks on how Xanthe is going after Finn got mentioned earlier and she reassures Elly that she is fine.
XANTHE: Honestly, I can hear his name without freaking out now.
The mouth may have said that, but from the look on Xanthe's face, she is shook up.
Bench somewhere/Number 28
Bea comes inside to call 'Patrick' and he lies that he is about to head back into the court. She asks what he is doing to pass the time and he replies back that he is putting it to good use by researching the people that hurt him.
BEA: Researching what?
FINN: If you're going to get justice, you need to come at it from every angle.
BEA: Isn't that the job for the courts?
FINN: Yes, but I'm going to help them out as well. Everything about these people - their relationships, their livelihoods, everything needs to be held to account.
She's not sure what he is going on about, so he explains its for his Victim Impact Statement, which he needed the time and space [away from her] to get it clear in his head.
BEA: Have you?
FINN: One day in court won't solve everything. There will always be some that get away, but karma catches up with everyone in the end.
Erinsborough Greenway
Shane finally catches up with Mishti to hear the news about her job - she's not being fired but has a serious warning on her record. She also has to undergo counselling and will lose her gun until she re-does her firearms training.
SHANE: That's all okay isn't it?
Mishti feels like her punishment is too light... because they don't know about the other time that she used her gun. "That was different," he reminds her and tells her to stop being hard on herself. She is doing the what if... scenario and feels like the book should have been thrown at her.
Lassiters foyer
It appears that Karl's speech to the conference went very well, Clive reports that other hospitals are now interested in running trials too. "Isn't it exciting to be part of this," a delirious Karl asks but Clive isn't counting his chickens just yet.
It looks like Clive was right to not count his chickens just yet after he receives an anonymous call from an employee at the research team (aka Finn!) to say there is an issue with the data from the overseas trials. He is essentially suggesting that Karl fudged the figures to show that the results are better than what they actually are.
Power Street
Leo is pleased to see that Mishti is still dressed in her police uniform when he spots her doing traffic duty - it is her own self-punishment to take the task on since it is something everyone usually hates doing. He asks if he can take her to dinner (just as a friend) to help take her mind off things, but she turns the offer down.
Lassiters foyer
While Karl tells Susan how great the conference went, in the background Clive is comparing the data Karl used with the (real) data in the files Finn sent him. Eventually he goes over to talk to Karl and informs him that there is a problem - the figures in the data Karl used had been altered.
KARL: I don't follow.
CLIVE: Someone's tampered with the numbers to make them better than they actually are. This is the worst possible kind of breach Karl and if it's true, this is serious, not just for you but for the whole hospital.
Clive then announces that the trial is on hold until further notice to allow a full investigation to take place.
