The Waterhole
Fay is very certain that she will manage to convince everyone that she was to blame despite Mark appearing very sceptical.
FAY: I stand by what I've done, and I'll ask you to respect that.
Fay changes the conversation to ask Mark how Aaron is (not good), so she goes to call David to see if they can catch up.
Tyler swaps places with his mum and tells Mark about talking to Mishti. He isn't impressed at his brother talking to the police without Toadie being present, but Tyler reassures him it was fine. Tyler quizzes Mark about the conversation he had with Fay on the night Hamish died, he wants to know if she was out walking (as she would have needed to be to be the one responsible) but Mark can't remember and pleads with Tyler to let Mishti do her job.
Police station
Mishti is running over Fay's new claims with Det. Graves and her original alibi. It is very sceptical if Fay's story is achievable but equally they can't disprove it either. "Remember, you're on no one's side here," Det. Graves advises Mishti as she heads out to question the Lassiters staff again.
Number 28
Susan arrives home and subtly tries to talk to Karl about Paul and the hospital wing but he's in a mood about Paul and is refusing to have anything to do with it now out of principle! The pair are having a right argument about it and Susan accuses him of having his blinkers on, just like he has with Izzy! That comment doesn't go down well at all and Karl now accuses Susan of being unreasonable.
Karl sulks off to the bedroom after his departing comment, so isn't around to witness Susan calling Paul to accept the position he offered her.
The Shed
Rory tries to tempt Aaron into meeting up with some of the guys, but he doesn't want to, and Rory tells him not to act the tough guy in front of him. Thankfully Fay arrives at this point and Aaron does the intros before Rory finally leaves Aaron's side. Fay suggests that the pair of them go for a walk to talk about David, but Aaron isn't at all interested in doing that.
FAY: I might be able to help.
AARON: I doubt that.
Penthouse suite
David is trying to forget about Aaron by burying his head in some medical books in advance of starting his course. Leo has a better suggestion - getting David signed up to a dating app but the lad doesn't want that and is grateful when Mishti arrives so that he can escape from his brother.
Mishti is here on police business - wanting to see pictures that weren't uploaded onto social media from the gala night. Leo goes onto the computer to get the photos and after looking though some, Mishti comes across one with Fay in it talking to some unknown guy.
Harold's café
"A part of me wants to believe that she did it, if it means that Ty is safe," Piper admits after she brings Susan up to speed about the case developments. Susan gets the gist of her feelings and points out that Piper needs to look after herself too if she wants to supper Tyler.
Mishti comes over to see if either of them recognise the unknown guy Fay was talking to and while Piper doesn't, Susan tells the officer that she knows who the guy is.
The Waterhole
David finally finds a suitable photo for his dating profile (after of course seeing one of him and Aaron together) before uploading it although he still doesn't exactly look enthralled about the whole thing!
Karl spots David sitting at the bar and approaches him wanting an update about the hospital wing and isn't amused at all to find that things have progressed while he was away, and that David is on the committee. He thinks David is mistaken too when he mentions that Susan is organising things!
KARL: Susan would never get involved without consulting me.
Karl heads off to presumably go see his wife and Fay enters the bar and wants to chat to David about his break up with Aaron. "Aaron regrets lying to you," she tries to reassure him with and only did so because he was desperate not to hurt David. "We really are over," David tries to tell her, and she pleads with him to have one final talk with Aaron.
Number 28
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Madam Chair," Karl greets his wife with as he arrives home. That is a prelude to the pair bickering again about her new role, but Susan says that they are both too tired and jet-lagged to talk properly and that they should talk later to avoid saying something that might be regretted. She'd had been as well to have saved her breath as Karl isn't letting it drop, and the pair go back to squabbling until Karl demands that she should resign but the lady doesn't have any interest in doing that!
Lassiters Complex
We find out now that the unknown man is called Bill and Fay has just arrived to meet him after he called her. He explains why they are meeting - the police called and asks if he wants to tell the police the truth if they pull him in for questioning? She asks that he keeps quiet and let them focus on her but looks like its too late, as Mishti has come across them, but before she can almost get a word out, Bill has taken off at a rate of knots!
"Can I help?" Fay asks instead and Mishti shows Fay the photo of her talking to Bill. Fay explains she was simply chatting with an acquaintance and from the look on Mishti's face, she doesn't believe Fay one bit!!
Police station
Fay doesn't look too impressed to be talking to Det. Graves about Bill and repeats he is just an acquaintance. "We think he might be something more than that," Det. Graves replies as Mishti joins them. It would appear that Bill stayed the night in Fay's room although Fay refuses to confirm that. After Mishti lays the pressure on to Fay about giving false testimony, Det. Graves asks if she killed Hamish.
FAY: No. No, I didn't.
"Why don't you tell us what did happen," Mishti says.
The Waterhole
And Fay does just that but to her boys in the pub. She explains that on the night of the gala, after they found out all the information about Hamish, she was upset. Drinking in the hotel bar, she met a nice man (Bill) and wanted to forget herself for a while. "So even your original statement wasn't true?" Mark comments and Fay admits that she was ashamed hence telling the police she was alone when really, he was in the room with her. The boys make it clear that they aren't judging her and "another in a long list of mistakes" doesn't include taking the fall for Tyler.
FAY: You are so young. You should have your whole life ahead of you.
TYLER: Yes, and I shouldn't spend it feeling guilty that my mum is in prison for something that I did.
Mark doesn't think Fay will be charged for giving a false statement and she wishes, that she'd been honest from the before Tyler was born, "none of this would have happened." "This isn't on you," Tyler points out and he's to face the consequences of his decisions that night. "Something else could still turn up," Fay says hopefully and reminds them about the caller Sheila had. Tyler thinks that was Hamish and that now they should focus on his trial "and hope for the lightest possible sentence."
Number 28
"Oh well if you're not going to drink this," Susan comments after spotting an open bottle of wine on the table. The pair then discuss what seems to be the issue with Karl - is scared of getting older? "I want to change lives while I can," he explains hence getting involved in the various campaigns over the years and the hospital wing was his legacy. Susan questions if his family and patients aren't his legacy? "I'm proud of the kids and the grandkids," he replies then admits he looks at new young doctors like David and wonders if he has become irrelevant.
SUSAN: Getting older doesn't mean shutting down, you and I have so much ahead of us, we've just got to try and stay open to new things. Think about this, if I'm heading up this committee, I can help you achieve your ambitions for the hospital wing.
KARL: You'd do that?
SUSAN: Of course. You just have to tread softly.
Lassiters Complex
Rory is waiting for David when he exits the pub although he's not giving too much away as to what he was doing inside. Aaron does though tell Rory about Fay's wish for him to reunite with David. "A bit awkward having your mum involved," Rory remarks which Aaron agrees but "I'm willing to do anything at this point," he adds.
"Don't you think you should try and move on?" Rory remarks and when it looks like Aaron isn't going to be dissuaded about trying to reunite with David, Rory tells him about David having an online dating profile.
RORY: Sorry Aaron, he's already moved on.
Number 22
Fay tells Tyler that she will be back for the trial, but he would rather she wasn't there, as he thinks it will be too hard for both of them. Reluctantly she agrees as they walk into #22's backyard so she can say farewell to Piper (she is leaving tomorrow). Sincerely, she thanks Piper for supporting Tyler and is pleased that the lass will join her for dinner later at the hotel.
After Fay leaves, Piper asks Tyler if he's heard from Banks (no) but would rather simply forget about it for a while. And to help keep his mind off forthcoming events, he suggests that they take the road trip tomorrow and after he reassures her that it's feasible with his bail conditions, she wholeheartedly agrees to the road trip.
Number 24
"I'm here for you," Rory reminds the very depressed Aaron who is still down in the dumps about hearing David has moved on. Rory tells him of how he felt after they split but Aaron points out that his relationship with David was different to the one they had.
AARON: I'm such an idiot.
"Hey, you're not alone," Rory tells Aaron before leaning in to kiss him and when he pulls back, it's Aaron who is first to begin the pashing.
