Penthouse
Courtney tells Susan that she and Paul have passed their compatibility test. Susan is surprised, but agrees that now she can marry them.
COURTNEY: I'm going to be the next Mrs Paul Robinson!
SUSAN: Yeah, the *next*...
Paige arrives as Susan is leaving. She tells Paul that they've had a call from the police regarding Sheila and Gary's check-in time on the night of the Gala. Apparently they checked in at 10.45pm, not 8:49pm. Paul looks agitated and tells her he'll get IT to have a look at it. Paige goes on to tell thim that the police want to question the staff from that night, and probably her and Paul too.
When Paige has gone, Paul gets on the phone to Gary, but Gary doesn't take the call.
Outside No.22
Gary tells Terese he was worried about burdening her, after what happened after Josh's death (she framed Paul). Terese protests that she paid the price for her mistakes. But Gary says he couldn't let her take risks for him. Terese heads off to meet Piper.
Poice Station
Mishti apologises to the sergeant for getting involved in the case. The sergeant isn't bothered, saying Mishti's instincts were correct and she did them all a favour.
SERGEANT: So, you've been in the force before, right?
MISHTI: In New South Wales. I'm on indefinite compassionate leave.
SERGEANT: So, have you ever considered returning to duty?
MISHTI: Why are you asking?
SERGEANT: Well, we need women with experience. With smarts. And the sort of initiative you demonstrated. Why don't you come on inside and we'll have a talk? Come on.
Mishti looks surprised, but follows.
Harold's Cafe
Piper is nervous about giving her statement at the police station. Tyler, Ben, Paige and Mark all support her.
PIPER: If they don't find Louise, we might not ever know the full story.
PAIGE: Listen, the police are asking questions everywhere. They're following leads, they're checking alibis. It's only a matter of time before they get a break.
Mark and Tyler exchange a worried glance.
Pub
Mishti tells Leo that the sergeant has offered her a job! She chuffed, but will need to work out what to do with The Shed. Leo asks if she's sure she's ready, and Mishti thinks that she is.
MISHTI: Now that the offer's on the table, my gut's telling me I should go for it!
No.24
The police are not too happy with Gary for disturbing a crime scene, but he is off the hook.
MARK: So Sheila heard a knock on the door, thinking it was Hamish, but then saw him around the back immediately after?
GARY: Well, that's what she said...
MARK: So, the knock couldn't have been Hamish?
GARY: I don't know.
Mark asks what the police took in evidence - apparently it was just the gnome.
When Gary has gone, Tyler points out to Mark that his fingerprints and DNA will be on the gnome. He wants to go to the police and confess.
MARK: He was still OK when you left.
TYLER: But who will believe me?! The head injury could have caused him to keel over into the spa after I left.
MARK: Look, there's only one person who could've knocked on Sheila's door. The same person who left the briefcase at our doorstep.
TYLER: Louise?
MARK: You may have hit Hamish, but she's the one that finished him off. OK? I'm not going to let them blame you for this! And you're not going to go to jail for this, OK?
TYLER: Whatever hapens, it's out of our hands.
Mark looks conflicted.
The Shed
Mishti breaks the news to Aaron that she's re-joining the police force. She wants to remain a financial partner until Aaron can buy her out. Aaron doesn't think he can run The Shed on his own. She says he'll have to hire someone. He's a bit gutted, but accepting.
Harold's Cafe
Piper has made her statement and is having a milkshake with Terese. Piper asks her about Gary, saying he'd do anything for her.
PIPER: Mum, you should *be* with him, you should be happy! Otherwise, you're only hurting yourself, and you're letting Paul win.
At another table, Paul joins Leo and David. Leo tells him that Mishti has decided to re-join the police force. From now on they'll have to do things more legally(!)
PAUL: If Mishti really wants to go back to the police force, then so be it.
DIPI:(overhearing) Mishti's doing what?!
No.32
Dipi and Shane can't believe that Mishti is going back to the police - they're worried that it'll bring bad memories back for her. Dipi says that Mishti took the law into her own hands, and she'd be in jail now if it wasn't for Shane.
MISHTI: I am stable. I'm in a good relationship and I am ready to return to work!
DIPI: This is a mistake. But it's pointless trying to convince you. Go ahead! Ruin your life!
No.24
Tyler is looking at the model of the boat. Mark sees him and look very worried, especially when Tyler starts to cry.
Police Station
Mark turns up early for his shift in order to "do some paperwork". When the coast is clear, he gets the key for the evidence room from the desk. Then he retrieves the incriminating garden gnome from its locker and wipes it clean. He replaces it in its locker, breathing hard.
Outside No.22
Terese has set up a couple of chairs on the front lawn and called Gary over.
TERESE: Take a seat.
He sits.
TERESE: So, I've decided to forgive you.
GARY: You have? Why?
TERESE: Because you've forgiven me. But there are some new rules. No holding back. No holding out on each other. We're a team, and if one of us gets in trouble, then we face the music together.
GARY: That's a given.
TERESE: And stop apologising for yourself! I love you. And I just hope that you can still love me after all of my mistakes.
GARY: Course I do.
TERESE: Good. Because there is noone that I'd rather sit next to in a camp chair.
Terese has hired a caravan for the weekend so she and Gary can get away for a couple of days.
GARY: But I thought you were flat-chat at work?
TERESE: We're more important.
They kiss.
No.32 (Garden)
Clancy the dog is in the dog-house in more ways than one - he has ruined a some clothes. Mishti comes out and tells Dipi that it's her life and she'll live it whatever way she choses.
MISHTI: You can't expect me to turn down this opportunity because you're afraid!
DIPI: I can't help it! I worry about you as much as I do the girls.
MISHTI: But I'm not a child, I'm an adult! I have to make my own choices and live with the consequences.
DIPI: I remember when you were born, Mish. This tiny little bundle, wrapped up so tight. My heart stopped. And I made myself a promise right then and there, that I would be here for you. But how can I be here for you when you're out there and anythign can happen?
MISHTI: I can't lock myself away and hide from life. this is what I want. And I hope, one day, you'll support me.
She stomps off.
Garage
Ben and Tyler are playing basketball and chatting. Presently, Mark arrives in a police car. He tells Tyler that his prints and DNA have been removed from the gnome. Tyler is shocked to hear that Mark has tampered with evidence. Mark says that Tyler is innocent and he cannot let him become the prime suspect.
MARK: I've seen people convicted on shakier grounds that this.
TYLER: If they find out what you did, we'll both get charged.
MARK: It's not going to happen.
He drives off.
Pub
Gary is filling in his leave form when Paul comes in. Susan intercepts him and tells him that she doesn't want to be his celebrant. Paul isn't bothered(!) Susan bangs on about how unsuited Paul and Courtney are.
SUSAN: It looks very much like a mid-life crisis. Karl's had several, so I can spot the signs(!)
Paul pushes past her and goes over to Gary. He demands to know why he told the police he and Sheila checked in at 10.45pm. Gary says there was nothing to cover up and he doesn't care if it gets Paul into trouble(!)
GARY: There's nothing you can do about me and Terese anymore. We're going on the honeymoon we never had. Your interference in our relationship is over. You've lost.
Gary walks past Paul and joins Terese, who has just entered the pub.
Lassiter's (Outside)
Mishti tells Leo that she's decided to re-join the police force. He tells her he supports her all the way.

Paul barges in and tells Courtney that he wants to go straight down to the registry office.
COURTNEY: Are you serious?
PAUL: Let's elope!
COURTNEY: Really?
PAUL: Yeah, really!
COURTNEY: OK, well, lucky for you, I've already put in our paperwork!
PAUL: That sounds ike a yes!
COURTNEY: Yes! Yes, yes!
She hugs him, excitedly. Paul doesn't look convinced, though.
