Number 32
Piper and Lauren both step in to stop the squabbling ex's and Lauren wants to know what's changed as according to Bailey they've been getting on well. Both remain silent until eventually Kathy leaves the kitchen to go get ready for the jewellery party and Lou comments that "Bailey doesn't know the half of it!" but refuses to say more other he'll call Brad to meet him at the pub.
LOU: I need some space from this debacle.
After he leaves, Piper comments that "there goes a couple that are better off apart," to which Lauren can do nothing but nod!
Number 26
Brooke is happy how everyone is working towards getting the place set up for the party, especially Sheila.
Gary remarks on how well the pair of them are hitting it off and Sheila concedes that Brooke is doing well with Xanthe but is still concerned she doesn't know what her long term plans are. Gary thinks support from Sheila will encourage Brooke to stick around and when she questions how well he is getting on with her, Gary refuses to comment!
As they finish setting out the jewellery, Brooke admits to Xanthe she is nervous as it's all her friends who will be coming. Xanthe is pleased her mum is taking control of her life (through her jewellery party selling) and that they "can do this together." "Nothing could make me happier," Brooke tells her daughter but once she turns away from her, the face tells a very different story.
The Waterhole
Karl does the intros to David/Elly when he spots Lou in the bar and Elly adds in her remembrance of Lou (that he is a legend with the ladies!). Karl/Elly depart to go celebrate his good news with Susan, leaving Brad to try to get to the bottom of what is up with Lou/Kathy but Lou is keeping quiet!
Number 32
Kathy is showing Piper/Terese some of the latest pics of Matilda and tells Terese she is welcome any time for a visit and it would appear that the pair of them would like to take Kathy up on her offer. Just like with Brad/Lou, Lauren tries to quiz her mum but she too is keeping quiet!
Number 26
The initial mother/daughter gushing ends when Brooke discovers that Xanthe has spent her share of the winnings buying a tanning bed (so she can keep her Queenslander tan topped up!) although tries to go at it from the safety aspect while the others are more concerned as to where it will go! Xanthe isn't amused at her mum now being in parent mode and reminds her about dumping her in Erinsborough for 10 months before telling her mum to find a new model. Brooke runs after Xanthe just as the doorbell rings with the first guest.
AMY: Showtime!
Number 26 backyard
Brooke hasn't enjoyed doing the tough love parenting and wants to go call Xanthe but Gary and Sheila tell her not to, she just needs time to adjust to having her mum back in her life. Amy pops out the backdoor to mention that the guests have arrived and is asked to step into Xanthe's shows to model the jewellery alongside Brooke (Sheila on drinks) while Gary will try and get hold of Xanthe.
Number 26
Brooke is in full salesperson mode while Amy stands modelling the pieces before she urges the guests (and randomers) to go look at it themselves.
Lauren is still trying to get to the bottom of things with her mum (about Lou) but Kathy still isn't talking.
Paul offers to shout Amy something, despite her protesting jewellery isn't her thing, but he's not taking no for an answer and tells Brooke she has a sale.
Piper finally asks Brooke where Xanthe is as she thought this would be right up her street...
Number 26 backyard
... and we cut to the backyard where Sheila has come out to tell her granddaughter she's missing the fun inside while bringing supplies as she thought Xanthe would be hungry. After being met with silence, Sheila asks what is really going on and she admits that she didn't really want a tanning bed, she just bought it to impress her mum.
XANTHE: I just thought if I was more like her, maybe more cool, then maybe she wouldn't leave again. Stupid, I know.
SHEILA: I know your mum let you down but I really believe that she does love you.
Sheila then confesses that she was also a bit scared that Brooke would take her away from them and Xanthe is quick to reply that she'd never leave them as she loves everyone. "Can you please tell me what to do, should I trust mum?" she asks her Grandma. Sheila really struggles to reply before eventually telling her to "trust her judgement" and urges her to speak her mind but to give Brooke another chance.
SHEILA: She might just surprise you.
Number 26
Brooke tries and fails to get Elly to buy something (she thinks buying jewellery is a man's job) but suggests that she speaks to the newly arrived Karl who might be after something for Susan for their anniversary (when all viewers know their anniversary isn't until March!!).
However before she gets to Karl, she spots Gary and asks how Xanthe is and he replies that she is ready to talk, and before she heads outside, grabs the ring that Xanthe was modelling earlier.
Number 26 backyard
Xanthe begins by apologising to her mum and would like her to stick around but it's got to be her choice. "I won't let you down again Xanthe," Brooke promises her daughter and they hug after agreeing to start again by wiping the slate clean. Xanthe has also decided to cancel the tanning bed as she wants her mum's input in investing her money but that's a conversation for a later day and before they head back inside, Brooke gives her the ring she was modelling as a gift to celebrate their reunion.
Looking out from the kitchen window, Terese spots the family having a hug and doesn't look too happy.
Number 26
Xanthe and Brooke work together to get Karl to part his cash on a 38th anniversary present for Susan (again when viewers know they've only been married for 9 years!)
Number 32
Kathy, Piper and Lauren are back from the jewellery party and there is still friction between Kathy/Lou, this time over her opulence in buying gifts for Piper/Paige. Both retreat to different places and Lauren tells Piper that according to Amber (who she has just called) they were both getting on fine when she saw them at Mount Cootha. "Well they're not anymore!" Piper points out and wonders what happened?
Number 26
Xanthe is still on a high from the party as they put away the jewellery, especially the sale to Karl. "I love seeing you so happy," Brooke gushes and Xanthe asks her not to leave, she wants her to stay in Erinsborough permanently. "Believe me, I want to be here," she replies before hugging her daughter.
Number 32
As they get ready to eat, Lauren/Piper are bemused by Kathy/Lou now suddenly being nice to each other and eventually Lauren comments that "it's worse than the bickering!"
KATHY: Your father loves my cooking!
LOU: Mmm.
Lauren demands that they stop pretending nothing is going on and wants to know what has happened as according to Amber they were best of friends only yesterday.
LAUREN: (pleading) So what has happened?
Both deny that anything has happened, things are simply fine. Lauren still isn't buying it and is worried that there is something seriously wrong and if so would prefer to know before the wedding. Kathy/Lou look at each other and Lou nods his head to give Kathy permission to tell.
KATHY: Your father and I wanted to keep this to ourselves BUT we've been spending a lot of time together in Brisbane recently and the other night things escalated and there was a bit of an encounter.
LOU: It wasn't planned!
KATHY: Just one of those things.
LOU: Mmm.
LAUREN: (puzzled) What do you mean?
KATHY: WE SLEPT TOGETHER!
Lauren is stunned at the revelation and Piper (who has just come back inside) looks like she's ready to drop the tray of food she is carrying!
LAUREN: Dad?
Cue everyone suddenly looking at their food and Piper calculating how quickly she can escape from the kitchen!
The Waterhole
Brooke nervously enters the bar to meet some guy who asks how they did today. She replies that they make $2k after overheads, which according to the guy means, with the profit from another party, she now owes them $4k... which turns into $4750 after she tells him about giving Xanthe one of the real rings as she couldn't rip off her own daughter. Brooke also asks for the order to be delayed as she's nowhere to store it plus once they discover its fakes they are getting, will need to leave town immediately.
BROOKE: And before that happens, I really want to spend some time with my daughter Xanthe. She's just beginning to trust me now and I think with a bit more time, I can convince her to come with me when I go.
"I'll think about it," the guy replies but warns if she's late with the next instalment the penalty clause kicks in and she will owe even more money.
