A church confessional
Jack confesses that he still has inappropriate thoughts of Paige. But now he has another problem: Simone. Paige doesn't trust her, and he thinks she is jealous. He says he doesn't know how to deal with things.
JACK: I'm just so lost now.
The credits roll.
Harold's
Simone comes in and pays for a take-away order, and she and Paige exchange snarky comments. Paige tells her she's hurting Jack by doing something wrong then vanishing. Simone says Paige doesn't know what she's talking about.
PAIGE: Yeah, I do. It's emotional blackmail. Fear, guilt, obligation. But soon he's gonna see right through you. And then what? You're gonna lose him for good.
Simone says that if Paige thinks Simone will lose Jack, she doesn't know Jack at all.
Garage
Ben wonders why anyone would admit to stealing a BMW. Tyler says that he wishes he'd shut her down straightaway. Ben tells Tyler that Xanthe wants alone time because she's upset about Angus.
TYLER: That doesn't sound good.
BEN: Nah. We're OK. At least... I think we are. She just doesn't want to talk about the Angus thing. At least, I think she doesn't.
TYLER: Well, good to hear you know where you stand!
Paige arrives with a sandwich for Tyler. She tells him about the Men's Shed being up for tender, and he says that Simone's staying there, and that he should go and warn her. Paige says she'll go instead.
BEN: That looks like trouble.
TYLER: Yep.

Elly shows Susan the letter and she says Elly obviously has an ardent admirer. She asks again about Angus and Elly shakes her head. Susan says the handwriting looks vaguely familiar and offers to go to school to try and match it. Karl comes into the room in cycling gear, looking preoccupied. Susan asks him to get some groceries, then walks up to him.
SUSAN: Promise me you're not going to ride around the streets feeling anxious. Worrying about the coroner's hearing is not going to change the outcome.
Men's Shed
Paige looks around the shed and sees Simone's backpack. She pulls out a journal and three bottles of tablets. She puts the bottles back, and opens the book. There is writing on the page and the camera picks out the words "HATE", "PAIN", "FILLED WITH SIN SICKNESS INSIDE". Simone arrives and is furious that Paige has gone through her stuff. Paige asks if she's OK, and Simone replies by throwing a spanner at her.

Xanthe and Ben confront Angus about his decision to leave.
XANTHE: Everything you have is here. Why would you leave?
I guess his parents aren't brilliant... but anyway, Ben says he's worried Angus will have to go to Germany.
XANTHE: Just tell me that you're staying.
ANGUS: No. This is my life, not yours.
Xanthe stomps out, followed by Ben. Elly tells him that Xanthe has a point.
ELLY: Whatever it is that is upsetting you, it's not worth up-ending your whole life over.
ANGUS: "Whatever it is" - like you don't know.
He says he only went to school to be with her, and now there's no point. She reminds him that she told him repeatedly she wasn't interested and he has to respect that.
ANGUS: I hear you loud and clear. Maybe if I did get sent away, it would be for the best.
Hospital
Paige catches up with Jack, who has just been visiting a patient. She tells him about the pills (prescribed to different people) and the journal, and says that Simone attacked her. Jack says maybe it was because Paige violated her privacy. She says she thinks Simone needs medical attention. Jack says that Paige's judgement is being clouded and that he can help Simone himself.

Susan and Elly discuss what will happen to Angus. Susan says he will probably have to go back to Sarah. Elly says he hated living on the cancer ward. Susan says it was bad for his well-being, which is why she doesn't want to take that step. She's going to ring Sarah later. However, she has solved one problem...
Harold's
Susan asks (teacher) Wayne if he realises how inappropriate it is. He asks if she realises how inappropriate it is to be disciplining him a coffee shop. Actually no, he doesn't, but Susan has no excuse - she has an office!
ELLY: Do you understand how badly written this is? Seriously, you misspelt "passion"... twice. And don't even start me on the grammar.
WAYNE: Look, I was nervous. I wrote it in a hurry.
ELLY: Yeah.
WAYNE: Too nervous to ask you out face-to-face.
Elly tells him she's not interested, and says to Susan that she doesn't want to take it any further. Susan gives him a warning. Two of my teachers got married - how inappropriate - so who knows how many warnings Susan would have given them.
ELLY: Thank God he's not an English teacher.
Garage
Jack comes to talk to Tyler about Simone. He tells him that he'd already offered Simone a place at the church, and wants to know how Tyler knew Simone. Tyler said they'd just met, but it seemed like she was in trouble. Jack wants to know why he would help her and Tyler says it's complicated. Ben tells him he's making it worse, so Tyler admits that he took the car, but Simone suggested that she take the blame.
TYLER: I shouldn't let her, but I did. And before I knew it, Mark had bought the story, and there was no going back.
Tyler admits that he paid Simone, and Jack tells him to tell Mark.
Men's Shed
Simone claims it was all Tyler's idea, but Jack doesn't believe her. She apologises for lying and says he's better off without her.
SIMONE: ...and that's why I needed Tyler's money so that I could get out of your life for good.
He asks her about the pills, which she says she found at the hospital dumpster, and she's selling for cash. As for the journal, she says she's writing a book drawing on their past. She says she should just go, but he promises to be there for her.

Elly tells Angus that he crossed the line, but it's not worth quitting school over.
ELLY: I don't want to see you throw your future away.
ANGUS: Who cares about my future?
She says that she only considered being a teacher for the holidays, and didn't think about the marking and lesson plans. She thought a knight in shining armour would come along and they'd live happily ever after.
ELLY: I'm single, nearly broke, living with my auntie and uncle in the 'burbs. It's not exactly the life I imagined.
ANGUS: I guess not. So you're saying that I should plan my entire future at the age of 17?
She tells him to think about who he wants to be. She tells him he has so much potential: she encourages him not to thow it away.
Harold's
Tyler admits to Paige that he took the BMW.
TYLER: If I get charged for this, it's over. Insurance won't cover for what I did, and I've still got a suspended sentence from the Dimato stuff. I could go to jail for this.

Ben and Karl arrive home, and Ben says that he told the coroner that Karl was completely in control when he operated on Regan. Karl thanks him, but is downbeat about his chances. Susan asks him about the groceries he was supposed to get (how thoughtful) and he leaves. She tells Ben he'll feel better after the result.
BEN: Unless it goes badly.
Angus comes out of his room, looking cheerful. He says that he's found a School for the Gifted™ an amazing music school and he'd like to enrol there. Sarah is willing to pay for it, if they are happy for him to stay. Susan agrees, and congratulates Elly for getting through to him.
Harold's
Xanthe hugs Angus, saying she's glad he's staying. He asks why she was so upset. She says that everyone she loves always leaves. He points out that her mum is back, but she says she doesn't know how long.
XANTHE: She ditched me for like nine months. What's stopping her from leaving me again?
ANGUS: Your awesomeness.
XANTHE: It's just hard when there are no guarantees.
At the counter, Simone tells Paige that Jack is taking her on the Blaze hiking trip. He said it will be good for them to have time to bond.
SIMONE: Jack has a saviour complex, and I need saving.
PAIGE: You need help. REAL help.
SIMONE: Not now that I have Jack.
She tells Paige that she doesn't need Jack, so he doesn't want her. Paige says that Jack admires her independence.
SIMONE: When was the one time that Jack gave into tempation with you? When you were broken. When you needed saving. Jack might admire you for being feisty, but that won't keep him around for long. There's no way he'll leave the priesthood for you.
Outside the Police Station
It's dark and Tyler is looking at the illuminated sign. Paige comes up to him, and he tells her he can picture Mark's face. She says she knows that look well.
PAIGE: The only way to fix it is to face it.
She offers to come with him, but he says he needs to do this alone. Paige goes off to see Kathy, who is on her way from Brisbane.
