AARON: Let's put everyone out of their misery.
Cue titles!
Number 28
Angus' flight is on time so Sarah is about to leave for the airport to collect him. She hopes that Ben will be friends with him and he asks how long the lad is staying and her reply is she isn't sure but he has an open ticket. Before she goes, she asks Karl/Susan to keep quiet about her cancer to Angus even though they think she should tell him.
SARAH: How do I tell my son I've got a terminal illness?
Karl thinks that not telling is worse especially when it eventually comes up but they agree not to say anything, nor to Ben either. After Sarah leaves, Karl admits to his wife that he's still surprised she agreed to this. "See how we go," is her non-committal reply.
Robinsons motel
Nate and Aaron find Mark (who is hurriedly dressing after his afternoon delight with Steph) and blurt out that Tom is alive. Paul overhears and is happy stunned at the news and thinks that Tom keeping low is a sign of his guilt! Mark reminds him that there is still a ton of evidence implicating him before hurriedly departing.
Ramsay Street
The K's are surprised to see Sarah still outside as she should be on her way to the airport and she explains that she's just had a call from her oncologist with bad news - the last round of treatment hasn't gone as well as he'd hoped and is recommending more chemo as soon as it can be arranged. Sarah doesn't want any more chemo as she thinks its simply reducing the quality of the life she currently has left and wants to stick to her plan of delaying telling Angus as for as long as she can... "and then I'll be relying on you guys."
Number 28
"We can't let her give up," Toadie tells Susan after she's obviously told him the news. She tells him that Karl is at home doing some research and admits after Toadie asks if she can handle it that previously she'd have walked away but being a mum has made her think differently. Toadie can see where she is coming from and offers his services any time she wishes to vent.
Police station
Aaron finishes writing his statement as Mark organises the other officers to find Tom. Mark admits to Aaron that he thinks the news will be a double-edged sword for Julie - pleased to hear he is alive but not so happy to hear he's in the frame for what happened. Given the latest development, and the fact Paul's continually protested his innocence, Aaron puts it to Mark that maybe Paul is right, he is being framed for what happened?
Lassiters Complex
Mark pays a visit to the cordoned off area of the complex a visit to consider if what Paul has been saying (that he's innocent) is true.
Number 28
News has spread quickly about Tom being sited and Karl, Susan and Ben briefly talk about it just before Sarah/Angus arrive. Sarah introduces her son to Karl/Susan and reminds him that they are Uncle Mal's parents.
ANGUS: Right, so you're the one who thinks he's a rock star?
Karl laughs it off and Susan confirms she is the School Principal (but not on the job today) before introducing him to Ben. Susan sends Ben off to show Angus the bathroom (to freshen up) and to hang out a bit to let the adults chat. Sarah is exasperated because Angus is virtually incommunicado with her and they remind her that he's just come from the other side of the planet and that it's been a while since they've seen each other. "Maybe you're right, it's just going to take time," she replies.
Robinsons motel
As Steph tries to service a room, Paul reminds her of what Tom has done - being fired by Julie and trying to team up with him to get revenge on her but when he refuses, the explosion at Lassiters happens.
PAUL: How coincidental.
"How can your boyfriend still be trying to pin this on me?!" he asks Steph and she explains that Mark won't be neglectful in his duties just because he doesn't him. Paul then let's slip that there are other witnesses he hasn't interviewed, so she wants to know how he knows that.
PAUL: Look, Constable Brennan has already decided that I'm guilty, so how can I trust that he's going to thoroughly investigate what's going on with Tom Quill?
STEPH: He will, he's a good cop. You can't question his integrity just because he's not proceeding the way you wanted him to.
Paul wishes he could chase Tom up himself but is forbidden from leaving the premises so begs Steph to help him. Steph refuses, not because she doesn't believe him, she does but rather she doesn't want to go behind Mark's back much to his annoyance.
Harold's Café
The K's are trying to talk to Sarah about her refusal to have more treatment but it's falling on deaf ears. Karl mentions Rhonda's miracle cure in Germany and turns out Sarah is on the waiting list for there, so he offers to call Georgia but she's accepted her fate and would rather spend the time getting Angus settled with them. They then ask when she's going to tell Angus he isn't here for a holiday, so she replies she will settle him in with her at #26 before spending time together
SARAH: And when the time is right I'll tell him everything.
Number 28
The boys are hanging out jamming on Ben's guitars while the parentals are out. Angus isn't sure how long he's staying for and explains after Ben brought it up that he doesn't have more of an English accent because his dad's Australian.
They stop playing when Angus vigorously strums the guitar and Ben claims it needs tuning rather than how it's being played (although that is probably the real reason!) Ben then warns Angus off touching his guitar case on the pretence that one of the catches is loose and ignores the offer to have it repaired when Angus claims he's good at locks...picking locks! After Ben leaves disappears to his room to tell Xanthe (on the phone) that Tom is alive, Angus ignores what Ben said and opens the guitar case.
Robinsons motel
Paul has got Glen in to see him on the pretence of a job interview! He puts the CV aside and just as Glen is telling him about his experience, Steph enters the office wanting to know what is going on. "I'm here for the job interview," Glen explains and is told that there isn't going to be a job coming up any time soon.
Paul isn't letting that fact stop him from chatting to Glen but as soon as he starts questioning him about the explosion, Steph puts a halt to proceedings and asks Glen to head outside so she can talk to Paul. Steph demands to know what's going on and Paul says that he's trying to save his own skin and that Glen is a witness to back his theory up that it was Tom who was responsible. She wants to know how Glen is a witness and he confesses to looking at Mark's notebook when they weren't looking.
STEPH: That's wrong on so many levels!
Steph then goes to call Mark and Paul pleads with her not to.
PAUL: This is my life we're talking about here. Oh come on, of all the people who should know how I feel right now, it's you. Everyone wanted to write you off when you first came back to town but you fought to prove yourself didn't you? Well that's what I am doing right now. Oh come on Steph; please back me on this one... please.
Number 28
Angus wants to give the afternoon tea a miss as it feels like 5am for him, so Susan offers to give him some cereal to eat! He wants to know why they are spending time at #28 and is told by his mum it's because "they are lovely people and I want you to get to know them."
ANGUS: Uncle Mal says they hate you.
KARL: We're all friends now.
Susan is the one to talk him into sitting down because nobody disobeys her!!!
Robinsons motel
With Steph out of the way, Paul is back to questioning Glen but not for long because not only does she return but so does a very unimpressed Mark! He's not amused at his business partner but she explains that she is on his side but won't lie to Mark. Paul wants Mark to question Glen about the fight between Tom/Julie but before that happens, he wants confirmation Paul hasn't harassed him, however when Glen discovers there isn't a job, he up sticks and leaves.
MARK: This is the last time I'm going to say it, stay out of the investigation!
PAUL: If I thought you were doing a decent job I would!
Things don't go any further as Mark bolts out of the office having received a phonecall.
Number 28
This time Sarah gives in to her sons demands to leave and Susan escorts them across the road to get out of doing the dishes.
Alone with his grandfather, Ben describes Angus as "a tool" and puts it down to having an attitude problem when he's asked if something happened when they were out. Karl tries to put it down to the long flight from the UK (still not washing) but gets somewhere when it's put to him that Angus' parents aren't there for him and somewhat reluctantly, gets agreement from Ben to give Angus a helping hand.
The Waterhole
Aaron arrives to give Nate the good news - Tom has been arrested after being discovered in Elliot Park - and admits that the arrest has taken the weight off his shoulders. Nate then seems to think that Aaron doesn't need him now but is told that he'd never have gotten through this without him. Aaron reaffirms his love for Nate but leaves the ball to what happens next in his court especially since he could be facing jail time. "I'm willing to take the risk," Nate firmly replies adding that Aaron is stuck with him!
Number 28
Sarah explains to Angus why the house is so quiet - Sheila and Xanthe are in Frankston while Amy/Jimmy are at the movies but will meet them all tomorrow. The lad isn't exactly jumping for joy at the living arrangements and wants to know why they aren't living in a hotel. She tries to put a positive spin on it by saying its homely and that he'll get his own bedroom but its not exactly washing on the lad especially as he feels he won't be here forever.
At this point Sarah gets emotional, which does seem to freak the lad out, and she puts it down to the emotion of him being with her... which he casts up by pointing out the fact he is sent to boarding schools. Susan steps in and tries to say the crying is just something mums do and kids have to put up with it before suggesting he goes off to have a shower and then bed as he must be tired.
SARAH: Ever moment is so precious, I just... I feel like they are being ripped apart from me.
Susan uses this to tell her not to give up on treatment especially if it means she gets more time with her kids.
Number 28
Ben is back on the phone to Xanthe talking about Tom's money and feels now he's 'alive' will want it back. After hanging up, he goes to his guitar to count the money (promising to call her back when he's got a total) but when he opens the case up its empty!
Number 26
While Susan/Sarah are having a cuppa in the kitchen, Ben sneaks into the house to confront Angus. Of course the lad denies he'd anything to do with it and suggests talking to his grandparents. At that, the adults discover Ben is in the house and Angus explains that he just wanted to tuck him in and say goodnight, which they don't exactly buy!
