- Kate pashing Mark then promptly running off!
Penthouse suite
Kate is expecting Paul when the lift pings but its Mark who appears. He wants to talk about the kiss but she refuses to talk about it. Kate pleads that kissing him was a huge mistake due to her confusion and promises it will never happen again.
MARK: I want to be with you Kate and I know that's what you want too.
After a moment's pause, her reply is for him to leave, which with a heavy heart he does.
Number 30
Sonya now has an attack of the nerves after agreeing to chair her first meeting the next day... and suggests to Toadie that they *do something* to take her mind off it (and the fact he's feeling guilty for fighting with her recently too) and cue the pair of them jumping on the sofa taking advantage of having the house to themselves!
(Later)
Cal lets himself into the darkened house and heads straight for the kitchen and the fridge when he hears a noise from the living room, which looks in a dishevelled mess with the sofa tipped over. Going towards it he shouts out that he knows karate and cue two very nervous... and very naked parents making themselves known!
CALLUM: What are you guys doing...
As soon as he's said it, he realises what they were up to but gets out his phone and (while trying not to look) takes a picture of the pair of them as insurance in case he needs to get out of some strife in the future!
Ramsay Street (next day)
Chris is helping Sheila load the car up with some junk before heading off to see Hudson. He leaves and she asks newly appeared Kyle how the babysitting went yesterday and he's decided to take 'the glass is half full' stance and adds that he thinks that they can find their way back to each other with a bit more time.
Number 30
Karl is round helping Georgia, Toadie and Sonya get their junk ready for the sale...unfortunately just as they are getting ready to leave (and unknown to the others), Toadie adds in the stuff from the safe pile that wasn't for sale!
Community Centre (exterior)
Sonya waits outside for people to arrive and meets a relapsed member (Patricia) and they head indoors together.
Ramsay Street
Mark is peeved at Kyle for messing Kate around which the knock on effect is her messing him around. "I have no idea what you're talking about," Kyle pleads as Mark walks away to enter the house.
Number 24
Kyle follows Mark into the house and is asked to say what happened (in his relationship with Kate) because of the mixed messages that she is giving him. "It was more an idea than a relationship," Kyle explains and adds that it was over before it really started. Mark doesn't exactly believe him but Kyle is bemused why Kate is acting like she is with him. Kyle firmly denies that he's any threat, they weren't meant to be, and reminds Mark that the last time they were in a situation like this, Kate chose him.
Lassiters car park
The car boot sale is in full swing with lots of cars there selling their goods. Cal secretly buys one of his dad's VHS rom-com's that he's selling (only because he now has them on DVD!) but barely has he picked it up when Bailey pinches it off him.
Paul drops by to inform Karl that he should have got a permit to hold the car boot sale and Karl pleading that it's for charity seems to be falling on deaf ears.
Harold's Store
Sonya has a coffee with the newbie Patricia who is annoyed (at herself) for not having the guts to introduce herself at the meeting. Instead she explains to Sonya how she got addicted but has managed to keep it under control until the past few months when empty nest syndrome meant she returned to the pokies. Patricia also mentions that none of her family knows about her addiction/attending GA meetings. Sonya urges her to tell them but hubby is in Greece plus she wants to do this on her own.
Number 30
Georgia (and Nell) return from the park to discover that the 'safe' items are missing so head back out of the house to go see Toadie at the car boot sale.
Lassiters car park
Sheila and Toadie are trying to tempt Kyle into making some purchases but its Toadie who is taken with one of Sheila's items (the original soundtrack to An Officer and a Gentleman) and while he's off seeing that, Kyle notices Georgia's earrings (they were in the 'safe' items pile). He puts his $2 into the tin and walks off dejectedly stuffing the earrings into his pocket.
(Later)
Georgia arrives and reassures Toadie that Nell isn't ill and instead asks about her earrings. Toadie explains that he thought they were an old pair of Sonya's and apologises for what he's done. Georgia goes around asking the punters if anyone bought said earrings (because they mean a lot to her) to no avail.
Lassiters hotel
Karl is stunned when Paul hands him a permit for the car boot sale that he should have got in advance.
KARL: You just did this?
PAUL: Yes, I am the mayor, I can make things happen!
KARL: Okay, what's going on?
PAUL: Nothings going on.
KARL: Have you had another brain tumour?! Is that why you are being nice and reasonable!
Paul eventually says there is a reason; he is after Karl to do him a favour... one which he will get back to the good doctor about.
As Karl leaves, Mark arrives wanting Paul's help.
Penthouse suite
Paul shows Mark to where Kate is sitting and tells him that it's against his better judgements but he's got 5 minutes!
Mark explains he's only got one question to ask her - was she really in love with Kyle? "I really care about Kyle and I lost two of my best friends because of it," she replies. He tells her that she needs to stop shutting herself down and that they have something special, which they owe it to themselves, to make it work. Her reply is for him to go! When he doesn't listen, she spells it out bluntly - "I don't want you here" - and at that point, Paul returns to usher Mark out.
Charlie's
Sheila spots that Kyle looks very down as he nurses a beer and goes over to see what is wrong. He explains that Georgia sold the earrings he gave her and Sheila is puzzled that she has been so heartless.
KYLE: The only thing I am sure of now is the glass is definitely half empty, or totally empty... no actually, it's smashed.
Sheila tries to say he's misinterpreting it but he's taking it as meaning she no longer wants anything to do with him.
Penthouse suite
Paul quizzes Kate on what is going on with Mark and she admits that he is a really great guy but knows it's not worthwhile pursuing it because every time they get close, something happens and she ends up hurt and doesn't want that to happen again. "Fair enough," he replies which puzzles her as she thought he'd convince her to get back with him like previous.
PAUL: No, I think you're right.
KATE: Really?!
PAUL: Darling, the last thing I want to see is you heartbroken again. You need to surround yourself with people who make you happy, who bring out the best in you, which is exactly what I'm trying to do. And if you think that Brennan is not one of these people then I think you're right to send him packing.
KATE: Yes right, thanks.
Harold's Store
Sonya tells Patricia that there is another meeting later on that day and invites her to go along, which she readily accepts. When goes to pay for their coffees, Chris enters the store and immediately spots Patricia... his mum! She then notices that Patricia/Chris seem to know each other and Chris explains that's his mum and wants to know if they've been having lunch together. Seeing the silent pleading in Patricia's eyes, Sonya makes up an excuse about how they met/started chatting without obviously explaining the real reason. With her cover safe, Patricia invites Chris and Hudson (if he's free) to supper and Chris doesn't immediately say why Hudson won't be joining them (and Sonya looks puzzled but again doesn't say anything) before Patricia leaves the store.
