No 26
Chris asks Summer if she's sure about the pills. Summer says of course she is. Aidan says it's none of their business. Chris suggests it might be harmless, but Summer doesn't think so...
Charlie's
Tash is hopeful that Summer will drop it.
ANDREW: Have you met Summer Hoyland?
Tash points out going out with Bradley has made her less uptight, but Andrew says she'll still ask questions...
No 26
Summer says the name was "Pheno-something" and asks Aidan what it could be. Aidan doesn't want to guess, and stalls by putting Tash's meal in the fridge...
Charlie's
Tash says that Aidan will help - he's helped Andrew before. Andrew says he's not Aidan's favourite person. Aidan's not happy about him buying the meds online. Tash can understand that, but she gets out her phone anyway...
No 26
Chris suggests to Summer that it might be personal. Summer's response is that they should interfere help. Aidan gets a text from Tash asking him to "talk Summer down or we're all screwed!!" Summer wants to find out what they're for. Aidan interrupts, and tells them the pills are for Tash. They ask what they're for. Aidan says he shouldn't say anything... but they're for stress. Chris says she has been through a lot, while Summer looks concerned. Aidan warns them not to say anything, as he shouldn't be discussing Tash's medical issues, and she wouldn't want her friends to worry. Chris agrees, and so does Summer (reluctantly).
Outside No 26
(Next morning)
Kyle is walking down the drive, leaving a message for Jade. He assumes she's busy as he hasn't heard from her for a couple of days, and asks her to call him. At the bottom of the drive, he sees Jade, who has just got out of a cab! Kyle is thrilled to see her. He asks why she's back, as he didn't think she'd be back for three weeks. She says she needed to see him. He tells her their room is a disgrace, but she says not to worry. She's bought him a present - a 21 megapixel digital SLR camera - which he's very pleased with. However, he has to go off to work. As he leaves, her smile fades.
Harold's
Sophie is sitting doing some homework when Lucas and Chris walk in. Chris is leaving a message on Tash's voicemail, wishing her "happy actual birthday". He adds that he wants to make sure she's OK since she had to go to work during her party. Lucas asks if Tash is having dramas, so Chris retorts by asking Lucas about whether he and Vanessa are still in love. Lucas says that actually they are getting married. Chris thinks it's stupid. Lucas tells him Sonya thinks the same. Chris supposes he should say congratulations, but Lucas suggests he buy breakfast.
CHRIS: Consider it your wedding present.
While Chris is getting the food, Lucas goes to chat to Sophie. He asks if she's going to the Open Mic night. She says the acts will probably be lame. Lucas says he thought she'd want to compete. Sophie says she doesn't play any more: it was just a phase and she's over it. She leaves. Chris looks thoughtful.
Outside Harold's
Sophie is walking on her crutches, and drops her backpack. Chris catches her up and picks it up for her. He tells her he overheard what she said. She says she's fine. He says he was thinking about learning music and asks her if she'd give him some lessons. She says he must think she's dumb. He asks why, and she says that he must think that she's given up music because she thinks that's the reason all this happened. He asks if he's wrong, and she looks away. He tells her that after he got bashed at the garage, he couldn't go back in, or even stand outside. She insists that this is nothing like that. He apologises for getting it wrong. She thanks him for picking up her bag, and walks off.
No 28
Summer is making breakfast, when Tash comes into the lounge (obviously having just got up). The table is decorated, and Tash is impressed. Summer gives Tash her birthday cards. The first one is from her dad and Emilia. Summer apologises for not checking the sender. Tash says it's better than last year! Summer tells her to forget about it and relax. Tash asks why she's being so weird, and Summer apologises for being nosy. There's a knock at the door: it's Aidan. Summer goes off to get Tash's present. Tash asks Aidan why Summer is acting so weird, and he tells her that he told them that the pills were hers, and were for stress and anxiety.
TASH: Well, that explains the whole caring, sharing routine. Great.
Aidan points out that it's Andrew who got them into the mess.
Harold's
Kyle tells Rhys that Jade's back. Rhys asks if she's back for good, and Kyle says it's just a visit. Rhys asks why she's back so early. Kyle says she loves him, and because of the long distance but Rhys is sceptical. Kyle asks if he thinks there's another reason. Rhys asks if she bought him a present. Kyle says yes, the camera, and Rhys remarks she's bought a lot of presents. Kyle says she makes good money, but Rhys says it's the sign of a guilty conscience. Kyle scoffs and says everything's fine. Rhys says if she starts pulling away, something's going on. Kyle points out that Jade's come 10,000 to see him, so why would she pull away. Exactly, says Rhys and leaves. Kyle looks a bit concerned.
No 26
Jade looks at a picture of her and Kyle on the fridge, and sighs. Kyle comes in and kisses her. He's pleased when she says she wants to catch up and tells her that they have the place to themselves, but Jade says she wants to talk. She asks about the camera. He tells her he's already taken some photos and he takes a photo of her. He says he realises why she got it: she knows how hard he finds the long distance relationship, and she's trying to make it better. He kisses her again. She pulls away and says she's got to talk to Sonya. He's about to go with her, but she says she wants to go alone. He looks baffled, as he stares at the serious-looking picture he took of Jade earlier.
Charlie's
It's busy, and Andrew gives Tash three things to do. Summer comes in and orders a peppermint tea from Andrew. Summer sarcastically says she expected him to get Tash to do it. He says that Tash is busy. Summer says she can see that, and he's giving her lots to do. Andrew asks what her problem is. Summer leans in and tells Andrew that Tash is on medication for anxiety, and she asks him to go easier on Tash. Andrew asks how she knows. Summer says she found Tash's pills. Tash comes over and reminds Summer she told her to butt out.
SUMMER: He's putting too much pressure on you, Tash.
TASH: You're wrong.
ANDREW: She's right.
TASH: What?
Andrew apologises to Tash because she has to deal with his issues and she has to lie to her friends. He tells her to take the day off: she should enjoy her birthday. She's earned it.
TASH: Damn straight I have. Let's go before he goes back to being a tool.
As Summer and Tash leave, Tash turns and smiles warmly at Andrew, who smiles back.
No 30
Jade is shocked to hear that Lucas and Vanessa are getting married. Georgia thinks it's no big deal. Sonya changes the subject and asks Jade about LA. She says it's great, the business is great. Then she says to Sonya there's something she really needs to talk about.
GEORGIA: Did a celebrity enrol in your class?
Jade says no, and then tells Georgia that she wants to talk to Sonya alone. Georgia says that's OK: she'd just been so excited to hear about it all. After Georgia leaves, Jade tells Sonya that she wanted to tell Kyle first but she couldn't...
No 26
Kyle tells Rhys that Jade is at Sonya's. Rhys says he was messing about before: it's probably nothing. Kyle says he thinks Jade is hiding something, and he's worried it's serious...
No 30
Sonya says she didn't see it coming, and Jade should have told Kyle straightaway. Jade says she wanted to, but she couldn't, because Kyle was so happy to see her...
No 26
Kyle asks Rhys what he thinks, since Rhys can do the "Dr Freud thing" and read people. He wonders if she doesn't want to tell him she's having a good time. Rhys thinks it's more serious. Kyle suggests maybe the business isn't going well, but Rhys reminds Kyle she can afford presents. He says there's another option. Kyle doesn't want to think about it. Rhys points out that she's meeting new people and one thing leads to another. Kyle refuses to believe Jade would do that. Rhys picks up Jade's phone, and says a quick look at her texts would probably give Kyle the answer.
KYLE: Dude, you don't do that to people you love. It's dishonest.
RHYS: So is cheating on your boyfriend.
KYLE: She wouldn't.
Rhys walks out. Kyle frowns and glances at Jade's phone.
No 30
Sonya tells Jade that she and Kyle have been through a lot, and maybe they can get through this. The only way to find out is to tell Kyle everything. Jade sighs.
Harold's
Sophie is having lunch by herself. Lucas and Chris come in for their lunch. Lucas thinks she wants to be left alone, but Chris is dubious and still wants to help. He picks up an "Open Mic Night" leaflet. Lucas says he tried that, but Chris goes over. He reads out that "first-time performers invited". Sophie says that she's not interested, but Chris says he meant himself. Sophie wonders if he's even held a guitar before. Chris says he's got two weeks to practise. Sophie says he can't learn in two weeks. Chris asks her to teach him, but she refuses. He says he'll get online lessons.
Charlie's
Tash walks in and plonks a plate of cake on the bar. Andrew tells her she can't bring it in because she didn't buy it there. He asks why she's there, since he gave her the day off. She points out that makes her a customer and she's always right! She picks up a spoon and asks him if he wants any cake.
TASH: Birthday cake doesn't make you fat. It's a little-known scientific fact. [Andrew tries to take a spoonful] Oh, are you allowed all that sugar?
ANDREW: That is a diabetic. I am an epileptic.
TASH: There's a difference?
ANDREW: Hah!
TASH: Whatever. I'm a mathematician, not a doctor.
Tash asks if she gets double time for being in on her birthday. Andrew says she's not working. Tash says she made him laugh about epilepsy - and that deserves a medal. They enjoy the cake, and then she feeds him a spoonful.
Lassiters' complex
Chris has a guitar, which he is strumming tunelessly. Sophie walks over. She tells Chris it's not a bad one. He agrees, but adds that it sounds bad. He asks what he's doing wrong, but she reminds him that he said he could teach himself. He asks for a couple of tips. She rolls her eyes, and tells him the guitar's the wrong way around... and the music's upside-down. Now he manages to play a chord, and he asks Sophie if there are any songs with just one chord. Sophie says a few, but not any that the Charlie's crowd would like. So Chris tries another chord (not very well) and assures Sophie that he'll improve, and when he's onstage, he'll tell everyone she was his inspiration. Sophie laughs, and says she'll teach him some basics. Chris is pleased, and strums a bit. Sophie realises she's taken on a big task.
No 26
Kyle is carrying a pile of washing. He stares at Jade's phone, then strides into the kitchen. The phone beeps. He checks it - it's just from the service provider. He walks off and it beeps again, so he comes back to check it. It's from Rick: "Did you tell your boyfriend yet?" He frowns.
(Later)
Kyle is sitting on the couch, when the door opens. Jade apologises for taking so long, as she's been for a walk. She says they need to talk. He says she's right. Jade says there's something she needs to tells him but it's hard. Kyle says he knows what's going on because he read her text. She sighs. He adds that he deserves it after what happened with Kate. Jade is puzzled. Kyle says it's the same thing: him and Kate, her and Rick. He asks if it was a one off. She tells him she hasn't been cheating on him. If he'd read all her texts, he'd know. Rick is 65, happily married, and a rep for the investors. Kyle asks what it was that Jade wanted to say.
JADE: Look, they've asked me to stay in LA for another year. And I said yes.
