Erinsborough news
Over a musical montage (why?) Susan debates with herself what to do. She looks in turn at Paul's office door, then at Summer, beavering away at her desk, then at her expose article.
There's a call for Susan from the West Waratah Star, but she doesn't take it. Summer goes off to research her Conrad Jackson article again.
When Summer has gone, Susan deletes the article from her laptop.
Ramsay Street
Summer is asking Kyle about Conrad Jackson. He suggests she asks Jade.
When Summer has gone, Andrew looks wistfully after her.
No.32
Andrew has decided to help out Kyle with the repairs to the house. Kyle tells him he's heard about the break-up with Summer and sympathises.
Kyle bends down and starts fixing the wall (the section that always seems to be damaged by No.32 parties - Darren Stark was fixing it in an old episode I was watching the other day, but I digress) Kyle and Andrew chat about how Kyle used to be a bit wild at school but has calmed down now. Andrew says he can't believe Paul is paying for the damage to No.32 - it's not like Paul was responsible.
Charlie's
Summer is interviewing Jade about Conrad Jackson, but she doesn't know anything. Summer thinks maybe her instincts were off, but Jade tells her to trust her instincts.
When Jade has gone, a bloke comes in that Summer remembers seeing at the party. He's even got the same clothes on(!) She goes over and asks him about the party. He tells her he heard about the party from "some dude in the bar" who persuaded them to go to the party. The bloke realises that Summer is a journalist and makes a sharp exit.
Harold's Store
Summer tells Susan her latest findings from the bloke at the bar. Paul is also there and says the bloke probably just saw the party posted online. Summer won't drop it though. Paul tells her there's not enough for a story and Susan is forced to back him up. Summer is confused.
Lassiter's
Summer follows Susan and tells her she can't understand why she's done a back-flip on the story. When they arrive back at the office, Paul asks Susan to come into his office. While she's in there, Summer checks Susan's laptop and quickly finds the Paul expose in the Trash folder.
Summer wanders outside (for some reason) and overhears Ajay talking to some friends about Paul assassinating his character. Priya comes over and asks her how the job is going. Summer says she hopes she didn't paint Ajay in a bad light over the merger story. Priya assures her that Summer was very balanced, it was Paul that manipulated it afterwards. Priya tells Summer that Ajay is being pushed to resign from the council. Summer is shocked.
No.32
Andrew opens the door to Tash's bedroom and looks regretfully at Tash's bed (where he was kissing the girl Summer caught him with). Kyle asks Andrew what happened with him and Summer. He explains about the extra-curricular kissing with the girl (called Belinda apparently). Kyle tells him he's got an idea to make him feel better.
Park
Kyle has brought Andrew to the park. Jade's singles bootcamp is going on, but Kyle and Andrew are just going to have a kickabout of a football. They do this over yet another musical montage (why?).
Lassiter's Lake
Summer is thinking about the whole Conrad Jackson/party situation through flashbacks of scenes from earlier in this episode, just in case we couldn't remember them. Summer sees Susan and rushes up to her, telling her that Ajay is going to resign, and that she's see Susan's expose. Susan says she can't do that.
SUMMER: Why are you protecting Paul?!
SUSAN: I'm not!
SUMMER: Did he threaten to fire you?
SUSAN: No!
SUMMER: Then why else would you cover up something this big?
SUSAN: Summer, this isn't about me!
SUMMER: Susan, you are putting your job before the truth! How can you let him do this to Ajay?!
SUSAN: It's not my job on the line, Summer. It's yours.
Harold's Store
Susan has explained the whole sorry tale to Summer over a coffee. Summer tells her to publish the story anyway - even if she loses her job. She wouldn't be a proper journalist if she wasn't prepared to put herself on the line for the truth.
Park
Kyle and Andrew are lying on the grass talking about women. Kyle advises him to keep things simple and "go with the flow". He doesn't have an easy time with Jade - she is even more complicated than Summer.
Jade comes over and she and Kyle head off.
No.22
Andrew comes in and wanders around aimlessly a bit. There's a parcel there from the police - his personalised number plates were found near where his car was stolen from. He flashes back to his 18th birthday when Summer gave him the number-plates.
Charlie's
Summer comes in and hands Paul a folder - containing the "Conrad Jackson" story. He opens it, reads a little and then looks up sharply.
Lassiter's
Priya tells Ajay that he doesn't have to resign. He will do it at the opening of the Community Centre.
Charlie's
Summer tells Paul that she doesn't care if he fires her. Paul threatens her a bit, but Summer just tells him that Susan is on her way to the Community Centre to expose him at the Council Meeting.
Community Centre
Susan is trying to persuade Ajay not to resign when Paul rushes up. Susan therefore shouts Paul's involvement in front of everyone.
SUSAN: This wasn't just an editorial, this was a defamation plot designed to get Ajay Kapoor to step down from the Council! but it wasn't Ajay that was responsible for putting young lives at risk that night. It was Paul Robinson!
The press rush over to Paul who says he has nothing to say.
