While Andrew is talking, Chris reads an email telling him that his University preferences have to be in very soon.
Lucas, still dressed as Spartacus, is helping Sonya to clean up. Sonya is a bit upset that Toadie has to go back to work.
It's almost midnight. Toadie looks at a silly photo of Sonya on his phone and smiles.
Sonya tells Lucas that she's fine. Lucas points out that it's just turned midnight, so it's now her actual birthday. He wishes her a happy birthday and then Toadie sends a video message. He's got a little cake with a candle at the office. He wishes Sonya a happy birthday and tells her he loves her.
Toadie is still working. His boss comes in and Toadie tells him that he's not sure that there's a way around the protection order. He's irritated that his boss has called him back to work tonight - they'll just have to sort things out tomorrow. His boss just goes mental and tells Toadie to stop wasting time calling Sonya on her birthday(!)
Sonya is asleep on the sofa, still wearing her Sandy from Grease costume when Toadie comes in. He puts a blanket over her and kisses her gently. Then he sits down and starts reading another law book.
Charlie's the following morning
Toadie and Sonya are having a coffee when Toadie's boss comes in. He shows Toadie the Erinsborough News, and just then Ajay the councillor called. He asks him what's going on with the protection order, but Ajay says there's nothing they can do. Toadie's boss says he promised the developers he's sort it and goes mental again!
TOADIE'S BOSS: I want a solution on my desk by close of business today. Or you're fired.
Andrew and Chris come around to beg Lucas to find the car for Eric. Lucas says he's late for work, so he gives them a list of his business contacts - Andrew and Chris will have to call them themselves.
Toadie is trying to think of a way around the development, but he can't. He tells Sonya there's no way around the protection order, and he'll be sacked if the project falls down. Sonya tries to calm him down and tells him to look through again in case he missed something. Sonya assures him that they're a team - whatever happens, they'll be alright.
Sonya brings Toadie a biscuit and a cup of coffee. He's sorry for working on her birthday, but Sonya says she had a good party yesterday. Just then, Lucas come in with a present for Sonya and they make lots of noise. It's a puzzle. Sonya gets very over- excited, but they quickly tone it down because Toadie looks fed up.
Andrew and Chris are still trying to locate a car for Eric. Chris has apparently seen Eric, and he wants his money back. Mal comes over and observes that he had a friend in school whose grandfather had that car - but it was crushed and buried with him(!)
Eric comes in and demands to know where his car is. He tells Andrew angrily that he wants his money back!
Andrew has brought the money and gives it back to Eric. But just then, Lucas drives up in the right car! Andrew takes the money back and Eric agrees to come and pick it up this afternoon, after Lucas has given it the once- over.
When Eric has gone, Andrew and Chris thank Lucas profusely (he got it from a mate) Lucas says that Chris can handle inspecting the car by himself! Chris is pleased.
Mal pops round and Toadie pours out his woes to him. Mal tells him that he just has to go around the problem - don't try to topple the preservation order, try to find a way around it.
Chris has finished sorting out the car. Eric arrives and is very pleased with the car. He gives Andrew the rest of the money and then drives off.
When Andrew has gone, Chris thanks Lucas for letting him work on the car on his own. Lucas says he did a great job. Chris tells Lucas that he's got his apprenticeship papers sorted - he's decided not to go to Uni.
Toadie is still puzzling over the development. He looks through paper after paper, law book after law book. Finally he stats pouring over a map of the area. When Sonya comes in - he says he might have a solution - they just need to find an alternative location for the car park. Sonya says if he needs any help - she's good with puzzles. Finally Toadie cracks it, but unfortunately the location of the new car park will be directly on the site of the garage and Kyle's business.
Toadie meets his boss and tells him he might have a solution - put the car park on the other side of the complex. They'd have to acquire the businesses currently on the land though. Toadie's boss apologises for being so hard on him, but Toadie just looks gutted. Lucas comes in and Toadie looks even more guilty. Then Lucas tells him that he's signed Chris's apprenticeship papers and is looking forward to the future of the garage. Toadie looks almost suicidal(!)
