This week on Neighbours
- Kate annoyed at Sophie.
- Sonya wanting a baby.
- Kate talking to Noah about relationships.
- Peter warning Toadie to sort it out or he's fired!
Previously on Neighbours
Toadie wanting to celebrate Sonya's birthday.
Lorraine giving Paul a clue to help him stop the development.
Development site
"History Kyle," Paul tells Kyle who doesn't seem too keen on it until Paul tells him of his plans - an interim order to stop the development (for at least 4 months but Paul hopes permanently) to allow the old Erinsborough News offices to be put on a historic list!
Number 30
Toadie calls to let Sonya know he's got to attend a meeting but promises to be home in time for her party. He also refuses to say what his costume is bar he picked it up from the fancy dress shop.
Simmons & Colbert Offices
Peter arrives for the meeting and he's in a good mood - the EPA report Toadie organised is excellent so there is no stopping the development now! He's even agreed that the meeting won't overrun so Toadie can get home for the party.
Development site
Paul finishes talking to the deputation of councillors that have turned up to inspect the "historic" site although Kyle isn't too keen on one of them - they are all hands apparently! And no, it wasn't a female councillor and when he complains, Paul reminds him that they all need to make sacrifices!
Number 26
Jade is impressed at #26 being clean but less so when Rhys explains it wasn't him who cleaned but Lorraine the cleaner. She shows him her costume for the party - a Supergirl outfit but then discovers the skirt is missing and eventually discovers it in the sink (it's been used for cleaning). Jade goes to blame Rhys (his revenge for her ruining his shirt) but he denies it was him so she now blames Lorraine and demands her number from him.
Charlie's
Scrooge Karl is back again when he's refusing to stump up for the beer but Lucas and Mal make sure he pays. The trio discuss costumes for the party - Karl is being a skinflint according to Mal for wearing his white coat (as a scientist), Mal is going as a spy and Lucas is going as Spartacus.
Paul approaches the trio to enlist Karl's help in doing a historical article for the paper and he isn't keen on helping but the lure of a photo opportunity swings his decision.
Number 26
Jade and Lorraine debate "the rag" aka the skirt for Jade's costume. Lorraine can't believe that Rhys and Kyle "share with girl like this!" and suggests they get a proper woman for the house to feed them up and keep them strong! As you can expect Jade is not amused!
JADE: I'm sorry, what decade have you just dropped out from?
LORRAINE: A woman's place is home, not prancing around street wearing cleaning cloth.
JADE: It's a skirt!
The boys suddenly decide they need to be elsewhere and Kyle drops in that he might not be at the party either. Since her skirt is ruined, Jade demands that Lorraine makes her a new skirt... which she agrees to do once Jade has said please!
Simmons & Colbert
Paul arrives to see Toadie but discovers from Peter that he's left for the day, so tells him instead about the article he is running about the historical Erinsborough News offices... and announcing and interim protection order too.
PAUL: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but guess the developers are just going to have to put their spades away.
Number 30
Sonya and Callum are relived that Toadie is home so he can help finish getting the house ready but he has his mobile stuck to his ear reassuring someone that there is no problems with the development.
Simmons & Colbert
Peter tries to knock the smile off Paul's face by informing him they will challenge the order but he's thought of that one already - it will be too late as the citizens of Erinsborough will be firmly on his side by then (after reading it in his paper tomorrow) thus the development will stop forever.
PAUL: I smell a win and I love the smell of victory.
Like earlier, Peter doesn't look amused and as Paul leaves he reaches for his mobile phone.
Number 30
Toadie has finally finished with work and is about to enlist with the preparations when his mobile phone goes off. The appropriately dressed Squid tries to tell him not to answer it - it is Sonya's birthday after all and he's been at work all day. Sonya pleads with him too and he switches off his phone and hands it over to her!
Simmons & Colbert
The caller was Peter and he leaves a voicemail for Toadie telling him the development is in trouble and for him to call him urgently.
Number 30
But the mobile phone lies switched off in a bowl at #30.
Number 26
Lorraine finishes making a skirt for Jade and wants 1 hours pay for doing it. Jade refuses to pay up and after a ding- dong between the two of them, informs Lorraine that she is sacked! After muttering something in Polish, Lorraine storms out of the house. Jade heads into the laundry room to get the boots to go with her outfit and unfortunately locks herself in there because the door is still sticking (Kyle hasn't fixed it). She shouts for Lorraine but of course she has already left and there is nobody else home!
Number 30 backyard
Lucas is most miffed to find someone has a similar costume to him when he and Mal arrive for the party. Sonya (dressed as Sandy (end of movie version) from Grease) welcomes them but is disappointed to find it appears Kyle isn't coming and is wondering where Jade is since she promised to be there early. Toadie reassures her that things will be fine and will get Mal to check on Jade while he gets the ice, thus leaving her to mingle with the guests... most of whom to Lucas' annoyance seem to be dressed as Spartacus!
Number 26
Mal calls round to check on Jade and discovers she's locked in the laundry and with a bit of a shove, gets the door open and rescues the damsel in distress before they leave to head over to #30.
Ramsay Street
As Toadie is unloading the ice from his car, Paul approaches him to hand over a bottle of something non- alcoholic for the birthday girl - even if he isn't invited! Toadie lets him know that the EPA came back all clear thus the development goes ahead. Surprisingly, Paul doesn't immediately tell him that it's now off, instead giving him a cryptic message - that birthdays are just full of surprises!
Mal and Jade assist with taking the ice in and Toadie is all worried now after the conversation with Paul and the fact he can't use his mobile as Sonya has it (she caught him going to use it so made him hand it over).
Number 30
Sonya is very surprised with the pressie from Paul and wonders to Lucas and Karl if she should have maybe invited him.
LUCAS: Mmm, then he could have come as Satin.
Lucas changes tack and instead tries to have a go at Karl for his outfit but Karl has the last word - at least his is original!
The guests demand Toadie come out in his costume and he does... except he hasn't changed at all, he still has on his work clothes, so announces that he is a solicitor!
LUCAS: And C is for copout.
CALLUM: That is so lame.
SONYA: Yes, that sure is.
Toadie then reveals that he did have another costume... another Spartacus one! That sets Lucas off over who had the idea first.
KARL: What is the collective name for a group of Spartacus's?
JADE: A mistake?!
Toadie then thanks the gathered for coming and that today is all about Sandy.
TOADIE: Sorry, Sonya. You're the one that I want anyway.
And it's not just the audience who are groaning with that pun!
He then goes overboard with the accolades and drops it in that the family may expand from three to four also, which gets a smile from Callum. "That was perfect," Sonya says to him after they toast her, when he asks how he well he did.
Number 30 backyard
Sonya thanks Toadie for the party and they begin chatting about expanding the family. She is so up for it, that she wants them to bring the plan for one forward from what they'd originally discussed... well until after they've done the Grease Mega mix at least!
Charlie's
Paul tries to cheer Kyle up who is nursing a beer with the news that the protection order has been granted. This doesn't cheer the lad up although a refill from Paul does get a half- smile out of him!
(Later)
Paul has really worked his charm on Kyle for his help in getting the development stopped - not only has he bought him a drink, but is shouting him dinner too as well as announcing he'll be hired to do regular work at Lassiters!
Number 30
Sonya and Jade have a sister bonding moment in the livingroom. As they leave for the kitchen to get more food, they discover Toadie trying to use his mobile but he relents and promises not to use it.
The party then gets another guest - Peter! He isn't amused at Toadie confirming that his phone is off and demands that Toadie return to the office now as there is a problem that needs to be fixed NOW. Toadie doesn't think they can do anything at this present moment so Peter gets the big guns out - if this development doesn't go ahead then staff cuts will be inevitable.
PETER: And those on probation are going to be the first to go. So, we go back to the office and we don't leave until we find a loophole.
Toadie pleads that it's Sonya's birthday and can't leave so Peter spells it out bluntly for him.
PETER: It's the party or your job Jarrod, your choice mate.
Ramsay Street
Toadie rushes after Peter to plead for some more time but Peter isn't budging, he's needed in the office now.
Sonya follows them out, wondering why Peter isn't staying and he replies that Peter didn't come for the party and that he has to go into work now. Like Toadie, she pleads for him not to go into work but he replies no, he has to go in but promises to make it up to her.
SONYA: You seriously going to leave my birthday party?
TOADIE: We need this job Sonya, I can't turn him down.
He then apologises for the manner in how he said that last bit before going inside to get his car keys.
