Ramsay Street
Jade finishes a run, thinking about Kyle. She perches on Kyle's ute, just as he comes out the house. He asks her to help unload it then talk to him about Kate. Jade looks annoyed.
Number 26
Kyle is setting up his sound system and then asks Jade what he can do to get a date with Kate: should he help at home, write a song, get her flowers and chocolates, get to know Sophie? Jade tells him to take control - sweep her off her feet, like An Officer And A Gentleman. Grab her, and pash the life out of her!
Jade says that Kate loves a man to take control, and even though Kyle's not convinced, he agrees to it. Jade feels horrible.
Number 24
Sonya is staring out the window when Kate reminds her to turn the compost bin at some point. Sonya's distracted; Callum's meeting Troy today.
Number 30
Toadie is hunting for a work file but can't find it. Harold's helping him, and comments that if he kept things tidier that would make a difference...
Number 24
Sonya admits that Troy and Callum meeting up is sooner than she expected. Plus, she's not Callum's favourite person at the moment.
Number 30
Harold finds Toadie's work file, and tries to reassure his friend that things will be alright: nothing will change the fact that Callum loves him.
Number 24
Sonya adds that it's hard for both Toadie and Callum to take in what's happening.
Number 30
Toadie tells Harold that things are complicated, but he knows that Callum loves him. Cal comes in looking for shoes, and tells his dad that things will be okay.
Harold's Store
Toadie and Callum come in and meet Sonya, who introduces Callum to Troy. They shake hands which annoys Toadie. Troy asks how Cal's soccer is coming along, and Sonya suggests giving them some space. Sonya suggests going for a walk with Toadie, who refuses point blank. Troy says it's fine, he understands. Toadie walks away, annoyed.
Lassiter's
Kyle walks up behind Kate, intending to sweep her off her feet quite literally, but she turns around and bumps into him. They apologise, and she turns to clear another table, and he goes for the sweep again and it's all awkward. Kyle walks off, tail between his legs. He sees Jade waiting around the corner, and tells her it all went wrong.
Jade reminds him that Kate needs passion and strength and sends him back to her...but Kate's gone inside.
Harold's Store
Troy and Callum are talking about footie and school, and how weird this is. Callum seems more worried that Toadie's watching them. He asks about Troy's life in the army, and starts to smile at the answer - until he sees Toadie looking naffed off that he's enjoying his father's company, so immediately stops laughing and tries to be unhappy for Toadie.
Sonya manages to convince Toadie to go for a walk, even though he doesn't want to. He says he needs to be there...confirming that this is all about him and not Callum's best interests.
Lassiter's Park
Mark and Lucas are out jogging and make small talk about grabbing a drink before jogging past Sonya and Toadie.
Toadie wants to know how long Troy will be around for, but Sonya doesn't know; she says that Troy's just met Callum so he's probably not going anywhere soon which makes Toadie more miserable.
Harold's Store
Callum's explaining how much he hates school - and even though Troy tries to convince him that an education is important, Cal tells him his plans to be a stand- up comedian. Troy wants to hear his material, and Cal gives him a one- liner about snot and earwax which is terrible!
Lassiter's Lake
Sonya reminds Toadie - yet again - that nothing will change the fact that he's Callum's dad. Toad admits that Harold said the same thing - but decides to head back anyway.
Harold's Store
Back in the store Toadie is laughing at Troy's bad jokes but Toadie walks in and looks furious at their laughter, and Callum immediately stops. Toadie swoops in and tells Troy that he's taking Cal off to go and meet Harold. He whisks his son away with a lie out of pure jealousy, and when Troy suggests they play soccer next time, Toadie moves Cal away and disappears with him.
Charlie's
Sonya apologises to Troy for Toadie's behaviour - she hopes they could have put Callum first. Troy says there's no need - he understands that Toadie's put in years of work, and he's just turned up out of the blue. He offers Sonya lunch and reassures her that it should be easier for them next time.
Sonya apologises for not telling Troy about Callum all those years ago, but Troy says it was good. He was a bad boyfriend, and wasn't ready to be a dad. They both agree they screwed up and made mistakes when they were young.
Harold Store
Kyle comes in as Kate is sharpening a knife. He asks her out on another date but she says she has some stuff to sort out after Mark, and turns him down.
KYLE: Well, that's cool. Well, not really. But - yeah.
She adds that she thinks whatever girl ends up with him will be very lucky. And before he leaves, he asks Kate what she'd do if a guy whisked her off her feet and kissed her. She picks up the knife.
KATE: I'd probably use this.
Lassiter's
Jade sits, staring, thinking about Kyle, when he appears, announces that he's starving, before grabbing Jade's face, and kissing her hard! Jade looks thrilled. Then:
KYLE: Is that it? Is that what I was supposed to do? How do *you* like it? Yeah, thought so.
Jade protests that she was trying to help, but Kyle is so angry that he trusted Jade, and wonders if this was payback for Kate being so angry about her and Brenno.
Jade tries to tell him the truth, but Kyle walks off, angry.
Cut to later where Jade is chasing him. She admits she was wrong, and she stuffed up, and Kate wants to be treated nicely. Kyle still thinks this is Jade trying to pay Kate back so Jade plays along with it to cover her own embarrassment. She apologises, and says she's not the right girl to ask for relationship advice. They make up.
Harold's Store
Kyle goes back into the store to apologise to Kate and tell her that her refusal to date him is 'cool'. He also adds that she deserves better than Mark.
KYLE: Brennan's not good enough for you. I am, though.
Kyle adds that he's not the smartest bloke around, but he'd look after her. Aw.
Number 30
Callum's watching DVDs when Toadie tries to strike up a conversation. Still angry at having his meeting with Troy cut short, Callum strops off. Harold comes in and tells Toadie some home truth.
HAROLD: You seem determined to treat this as some sort of competition with Callum as the prize. He's not. He's a child! Who's deeply attached to you. Remember, you can't lose if you don't compete. Now, can I use the washing machine...
Callum returns to fetch 'Call of Duty' (isn't he too young for that?!).
Charlie's
Sonya and Troy reminisce about one evening when they shared fish and chips. Apparently it was an awesome day. Ah, the simple things... Sonya recalls him rescuing a seagull. How lovely. Sonya disappears off to the bathroom before stopping to turn back and stare at Troy fondly...
Cut to later where Sonya's still in the bathroom and some guy gets pushed into the back of Troy, spilling his drink on him. Troy's not happy about it and gets rather angry, but calms down enough before Sonya returns. She refuses dessert, so he offers to walk her home.
