- Natasha and Summer having a scrag fight
- Summer telling Harry and Andrew they're turning her into someone she's not
Harold's Store
Lyn makes fruit salad with Summer and tells her that she can't go through high school without any friends. But Summer figures it's easier than being some psycho chick who attacks people in classrooms. She gets upset and Lyn reassures her that she doesn't have to put on a brave face all the time. Chris stops by to work on their chemistry assignment and Summer is reluctant to go, but Lyn thinks hanging out with Chris will do her the world of good.
Number 26
Lyn finds Summer and Chris working and chatting at the kitchen table, so she invites Chris to stay for dinner. Summer and Chris talk some more and she finds out that he'd love to be captain of the basketball team, but he doesn't think he has the right leadership skills. Summer knows just how to fix that...
Charlie's Bar
Steph is hanging out with the Kennedys, celebrating Susan meeting a newspaper deadline (an article on childhood obesity that Karl 'helped' with by spellchecking), but she's soon distracted by two manly men playing pool. Susan and Libby catch her out and realise her second trimester hormones are kicking in.
STEPH: I didn't have this last time.
SUSAN: I remember when I was pregnant with Libby, Karl could not keep up.
KARL: Excuse me?!
LIBBY: Oh please can we not go there.
Karl walks off and Steph admits to the girls that her hormones have been running rampant for a week now. Susan and Libby smirk; they bet Toadie's not complaining. Steph's like, "... Yeah, totally! We're both loving it!"
Number 30
Callum, Ben and Charlie are rummaging through the cupboard looking for tools while Toadie works on his laptop. They want to turn the kitchen table into a raft, just like how Lucas turned the hard rubbish into something new. The boys get stuck into Toadie for not being in the Blokes Club and not knowing the first thing about tools, so Toadie decides to bloke- up and build them a cubby house in the backyard.
Number 30 Backyard
The boys are measuring up some timber when Steph sees them and starts to perv on Toadie. She full on fantasises about Toadie sawing into wood with his shirt sleeves ripped off and pouring a can of drink all over himself until she's caught out gawking by Callum. Toadie asks if she's "coming out for a play?" But Steph quickly stammers that she's just on her way to Lyn's.
Number 26
Summer and Lyn are telling Chris that trust and communication is the key to being a good leader when Steph drops in for a chat with Lyn. The kids go into the lounge room while Steph confesses she's been having really intense feelings about men, "even Toadie". Well, I'm sure poor Toadie would be flattered to hear that. Steph feels awkward, but Lyn thinks it could work in her favour. If Steph and Toadie were to hit it off, maybe it would make their current situation less complicated. Steph's aghast but Lyn wonders what she has to lose.
Number 30
Toadie and the kids walk in to find that Steph's set up a picnic in the lounge room for them. Toadie's excited but Steph smiles and says she has something else planned for them. He goes into the kitchen to see a plate of oysters and some champagne waiting for him. Toadie's a little confused - even more so when Steph starts massaging his shoulders - and asks what's going on. Steph looks sheepish.
First Commercial Break
Number 30
Steph apologises to Toadie for her weird behaviour while they finish their dinner but Toadie says he's flattered. Steph wants to forget it ever happened, but Toadie uneasily says that it's not completely out of the question. She's a gorgeous woman and he's a hot- blooded man... So they hesitantly decide to give things a go. Toadie leans in to kiss her, but Steph's holding a plate so she sets that down, then Toadie starts to feel weird, but Steph says less talking more kissing, so they finally graze lips... Just as Charlie wanders out after having a nightmare and asks his mum to sleep with him.
Lassiter's Complex - Next Morning
Libby and Susan power walk over to Harold's and order OJs from Lyn, just as slowcoach Karl catches up and asks for a gallon of water. They all see Chris guiding Summer around, who is wearing a blindfold, as part of his leadership training. When Susan hears about the basketball game she gets her idea face on.
Summer and Chris come to a stop and Summer's pleased she didn't bump into anything: Chris is a natural leader. She goes inside to get them some drinks, running into Harry and Andrew on the way. The boys stop to chat with Chris and he tells them he's going for captaincy, hoping that Harry will back him. Chris then says that for what it's worth, he's pretty sure Summer misses Harry like crazy.
Basketball Stadium
Susan has dragged Karl along to take some photos of the game for a piece on childhood obesity. Andrew overhears and jokes that it's a bit serious for his dad's paper, but Susan reckons someone's got to raise the journalistic bar.
The coach arrives and gets the team to gather around. Since Johnno is out with an ankle injury for the season, he's taking votes on a new captain. There's silence all round until Chris says he'd like to take a shot at it and Harry says he seconds it. The rest of the team agree and Chris is made captain. Well that was easy. Summer drops by to check on Chris and is stoked that he got picked - so much so that she gives him a quick kiss on the lips. Chris is stunned and Summer's embarrassed.
SUMMER: I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking.
CHRIS: Wow, I've never seen you not think before. But I like it.
SUMMER: (smiling) Well... Maybe we could try again?
She leans in and they kiss. Poor Harry looks over just in time to see them. He looks one part dismayed and one part 'I want to throw this basketball at your head, Chris'.
Second Commercial Break
Basketball Stadium
The team are playing a practice match against each other when Harry decides to charge down the court and barrel Chris over in a fit of rage. The coach is angry and Andrew pipes in to say that Harry's had a lot on his plate lately, but the coach still suspends Harry for a week. He sends the team away to shower and Karl and Susan offer Harry a lift home. Summer goes to check on Chris, not understanding why Harry acted out the way he did.
Harold's Store
Lyn is happy to see that Steph and Toadie look very tired, but Steph says it's not what Lyn thinks. She was up all night with Charlie and Callum woke Toadie at the crack of dawn to finish the cubby. Steph thinks her ship has sailed, but Lyn still thinks she should make it happen. Libby walks in and Lyn drops the hint that Steph and Toadie need a break from the kids, so Lib takes it upon herself to look after them so Steph and Toadie can have some alone time. Toadie's like, "Woo?" and Steph suggests they could "have brunch or... Something?" Lib and Toadie leave to organise things and Lyn suggests to Steph that she should go out and buy some "intimate apparel" to spice things up.
Number 28
Karl and Susan show Harry some photos of the Chris incident, saying that anger is not a very good look on Harry and that he didn't have to foul Chris. But Harry says that maybe Chris fouled him first. He leaves just as Toadie brings the kids over. Callum's annoyed that they can't finish the cubby.
TOADIE: (unenthused) I know but something's come up. I have to go and have... Brunch with Steph.
Susan and Karl smirk at one another and send the kids into Zeke's room to find some DVDs. Toadie thanks them for looking after the tribe.
SUSAN: You take as long as you need.
KARL: Yes, there's nothing worse than a short... Brunch.
TOADIE: (mortified) Oh no, Libby told you didn't she!
SUSAN: (trying not to laugh) There's no need to be embarrassed.
TOADIE: I've just got my friends and family organising my love life for me. It's great, I love it.
SUSAN: Toadie are you alright?
Susan and Karl lean in, masking their bemusement with concern.
TOADIE: Have you ever, um, been invited to brunch and just not wanted to go?
KARL: I think what you're saying is you're not hungry?
SUSAN: Well that's alright, just tell Steph, she'll understand.
TOADIE: I've never refused food before, I mean it's just weird.
SUSAN: Toadie, choosing to skip the odd meal doesn't make you any less of a man.
TOADIE: So I should just say thanks but no thanks?
KARL: Oh absolutely. Look, Steph's appetite's grown since she's become pregnant.
TOADIE: What?
SUSAN: Yeah it happens to a lot of women in the second trimester. Don't worry, she'll survive a few days without brunch.
TOADIE: This is just hormones?
KARL and SUSAN: Mmm- hmm.
TOADIE: This has nothing to do with me?
KARL: Probably not.
SUSAN: No.
The weight of the world has suddenly been lifted off Toadie's shoulders and he yells out a delighted thank you while giving Karl and Susan a hug.
SUSAN: I'm not sure why?
TOADIE: For making me see that it's not actually me, it's just brunch!
He races out the door to make sweet, sweet brunch.
Third Commercial Break
Number 30
Toadie practically skips in and heads straight for champagne, calling out to Steph that he knows all about the pregnancy hormones now and it's not weird anymore. Now that it's not complicated and not about feelings, he's more than happy to help! Steph wanders out in a dressing gown but looks very distressed. She tells Toadie that she was trying on some new underwear - which makes Toadie happy - but that when she was putting on the bra she found a lump in her breast. The atmosphere turns very grave and Steph and Toadie look distressed.
Preview
(Tomorrow on Neighbours)
STEPH: What if the cancer's come back, Toad?
DOUG: Unfortunately the ultrasound was inconclusive.
STEPH: I'm going to need a biopsy aren't I.
LYN: I cannot see you in that much pain.
TOADIE: Then maybe you should leave.
(Harry and Andrew are moping around)
ANDREW: We do not think about, talk about or even look at a girl.
(They crash a Blokes Club meeting)
ANDREW: We've had more than enough grief from girls lately. I reckon we should just forget about them.
(Natasha leads Andrew into an empty classroom)
NATASHA: It's playtime.
(They start kissing and Michael finds them)
MICHAEL: What the hell?
(Back at the hospital...)
LIBBY: You were going to have a biopsy without an anaesthetic?
SUMMER: Is this true?
(Steph talks to Toadie about Lyn)
STEPH: She's got final say. She's my next of kin.
TOADIE: What if she wasn't?
