Hospital
Dr Doug gives Steph and the baby the all clear and tells her that avoiding breathing in the fumes was a smart move. Steph asks how Lucas is and is invited to go and see him. Outside the consultation room Lyn, Summer, Susan and Libby are waiting to see how Steph is, Karl called them. Speaking of, Karl wheels an unhappy looking Lucas along. Karl says he should be fine but may need a couple of days off work. Lucas asks how the baby is, which stuns everyone into silence. Libby asks how long she's known and Steph panics and says they've just recently found out. She explains that it was a big surprise, but they weren't ready to tell anyone yet. Lyn looks worried.

Later on Steph is trying to get in touch with Toadie to tell him the cat is out of the bag, but his phone is off. They need to get their story straight fast.

The Bush
Toadie and Callum come back from their fishing trip to the river to find their campsite has been overturned by some hungry critter. Toadie says he'll call Steph to bring more supplies, but he finds his phone is dead. They decide to head home instead, but they've had fun and promise to do it again sometime.

Number 24
Lou returns! Hoorah! But everyone is frantically getting ready to go out so it's a very quick hello and goodbye. Poor old Lou. He offers to get on with some housework, but everything is under control.

Hospital
Lyn checks up on Lucas and tries to get him to talk about the pregnancy. Lucas says it's not his business or his place. Lyn says it's alright to feel hurt - she does! She's Steph's mother, why didn't she tell her? Lucas guesses she had her reasons. He leaves to check up on his discharge papers. Lyn looks troubled.

Number 24
Susan is filling Lou in on the gossip so they discuss Steph's pregnancy a bit. Lou is making meatloaf for the kids and says it's great that Kate is now the legal guardian so nobody can split them up. Still, they don't know the secret ingredient to his meatloaf and they can't dust properly. Susan tells Lou that the Ramsays have missed him, but looks concerned that Lou feels he's surplus to requirements.

Harold's
Toadie stops by to pick up a milkshake and bumps into Libby. Libby would have expected Toadie to rush straight home to check up on Steph. She knows Steph is ok, but under the circumstances...

TOADIE: What circumstances?

Toadie tells her his phone has been dead all afternoon so Libby fills him in on the accident at the garage.

LIBBY: Both her and Lucas are fine. And...so is the baby. I found out at the hospital. I know you weren't ready to tell people yet, but these things get out eventually. Congratulations!

She gives Toadie a big hug while he tries to process it all. He thanks her and says that they've known for a few weeks but they just wanted to wait until the end of the first trimester. Libby is confused but before she can quiz Toadie any further he dashes off home.

Number 30
Toadie bursts in. Steph reassures him that she's ok and tells him that Lyn is in the kitchen. Lyn comes in and congratulates Toadie then goes back to the kitchen to make them a cuppa. Steph explains how basically everyone knows that she's pregnant. She knows it's not how they planned but as long as they just quickly change the story it'll be ok. Toadie wants to know why they have to change the story. Steph explains how she panicked and said they'd just found out and Toadie tells her that he just told Libby that they'd known for weeks.

STEPH: Now she's going to think I'm lying to her.

That's because you are!

Toadie rightly points out that the whole thing is a mess. Steph says she'll sort things out with Libby and Toadie realises he needs to get to Callum before anyone else does. They dash out of the house leaving a very confused Lyn holding two cups of tea.

Number 24
The kitchen is thick with smoke and the alarm is beeping like crazy while Harry and Kate waft tea towels around. The meatloaf has been burned to a cinder. Lou was so busy dusting the skirting boards that he forgot it was in the oven. Kate says she'll duck down to the store and pick up something for dinner while Harry hunts out some cold medicine for his sisters. A helpless Lou wonders if there's anything he can do. But yet again, he's surplus to requirements.

Harold's
Summer thinks Steph being pregnant is really exciting. She gets another brother or sister and Lyn gets another grandchild! Lyn is doing her frantic distracted wiping/dusting thing though and Susan comes over to see if she's alright. Lyn admits that she's worried about Steph. Steph pops in to see if Libby is around and Lyn takes the opportunity to voice her concerns to her daughter. She's worried Steph is hiding something from her. Steph reassures her mum that she's had every test under the sun and everything is fine. After everything that happened last time she's going to really look after herself and pretty soon there'll be another little Charlie running around.

SUSAN: Or a Charlene! Imagine that, a little granddaughter.

The women get all gooey and Steph says she doesn't care as long as the baby is healthy. It'll probably a devils tail though as a constant reminder of it's sinful conception and the subsequent lies.

Later on Toadie has tracked Callum down and is chivvying him along. Callum is annoyed because he really wants a milkshake, but Toadie says they don't have time, they've got to get back and unpack everything at home. Kate says that when Steph has the baby he'll have a little brother or sister to help instead.

CALLUM: Dad?

Number 30
Toadie apologises again for not being the one to tell Callum about Steph's pregnancy. Callum says it's cool but Toadie presses the issue and asks if he wants to talk about it, but Callum insists he's fine with it. Toadie backs down and goes to order pizza. Callum doesn't look so fine with things.

Charlie's
Steph finally tracks down Libby and apologises that she had to find out about the whole baby thing the way she did. Libby asks when she had said she found out and Steph tells her it was a few weeks ago but because Lyn was there at the hospital she said just recently. Libby understands and she's happy for her friend. Libby leaves and Steph spots Lucas and goes over to him.

STEPH: Where do you get off? That was not your news to tell. I don't care how you feel about it you had no right.
LUCAS: I didn't do it on purpose. Honestly, I thought I was the last to know, I didn't know I was the first.
STEPH: Well I'm sorry you had to find out that way. And I'm sorry I couldn't be there to help you when you needed me.

Lucas says it doesn't matter and tells her he'll leave them alone from now on. She's having Toadie's child and he respects that.

Number 24
Lou has found a use for himself and has knocked up a concoction of his grandmother's that knocks a cold squarely on the head. It looks totally gross but seems to sort of work. Kate thanks Lou and tells him that he is their family and the house will always be his home. She also heard a crazy rumour that he brought them back presents.

Number 28
Karl and Susan are off to the theatre but Libby seems a bit downcast and off colour. Steph calls around to try and clear the air between them. She hates keeping secrets from her best friend - she has no idea how much.

STEPH: But if I don't tell you things, it's not because I don't trust you, it's because I'm trying to protect you. I know how much you wanted a baby when you were with Dan and it just seems so unfair that you couldn't and we could. I guess I was just looking for the right time and place to tell you. Do you think you can forgive me?

Number 30
Steph fills Toadie in on her conversation with Libby and she thinks it's going to be ok. She asks how things went with Callum. Toadie thinks it might be too early to say, but he's left the door open if he wants to talk about it. He thinks they might have just pulled it off. Now all they have to do is keep the ultrasounds to themselves and lie about the dates. They hug it out. Libby comes around to congratulate them properly and to let them know that she'll be there every step of the way to share everything with them. It'll be like they're all having the baby together.

She hugs her best friends who are clearly wondering how they'll get out of this one.
