Crash site
The medics try to attend to Miranda's injuries but she is more concerned about her missing daughter and granddaughter. She tells Steve that she remembers taking to Didge but can't remember the exact details as she was in a daze. As she is taken away to the waiting ambulance, he promises her that he'll find her girls.
Bush
Didge (carrying India) has been walking in the bush for what feels to her like hours trying to find help. In the distance, she spots the reflection off a mirror and runs its direction.
Number 26
Dec calls on Bronte to say its dinnertime but looks like he is home alone as the dog doesn't respond to his call.
Number 28
The teens come in demanding food after returning home from the movies. Susan tells Ringo about Declan coming over to see him and he remarks that he's glad he was at the movies! She then adds that she thinks Declan would really like to see him.
Number 26
Declan gets Bronte's food ready for her but he's still on his own as the dog isn't around.
Number 28
Susan is trying to talk Ringo into giving Declan another chance but Ringo isn't budging although he does concede to phone him... later. Zeke is still anti-Declan too when he remarks that Declan should be left to sweat. "Is that how you all feel?" Susan asks them. Their silence says it all so she asks them to show Declan some understanding right now.
Number 26
Declan puts on some oven chips to cook for himself as Bronte finally returns home but immediately heads out the back whining, which Declan puts down to her missing Jake.
Number 28
Susan gives up trying to talk the teens into giving Declan another chance in favour of feeding the animals.
Number 26
All alone at the dinner table, Declan tucks into his chips.
Bush
Didge tries to reassure India that help isn't far off as they wonder some more. She then hears a passing car and shouts out for help but its too late, the car is well past where she is standing.
Number 28
Sunny's taken over Susan's mantra and is trying to persuade the other teens to cut Declan and Didge some slack and asks if anyone would really have them as godparents. It's a unanimous 'yes' from them so Sunny tries another tact - that they are kids and Didge and Declan don't hang around doing kid stuff anymore like them making guacamole (what they are doing).
RINGO: That's still no excuse.
SUNNY: Could you do what they are doing right now?
TEENS: ...
SUNNY: Okay, so I guess it's okay if we just stay friends and you know they can find someone else to be godparents.
Eventually Donna pipes up to say that Sunny does have a point and Zeke asks if they can go back to being friends, now they really know what they think of them?
ZEKE: A flake, dumb as a hammer, not worth noticing and I'm a screaming head case.
Zeke and Sunny then have words over his "issues" (Zeke tries to say he has none but Sunny tells him otherwise) which results in Zeke leaving the house.
Bush
Its dark now and Steve tries to convince the tending paramedic that he is fine as she conducts some basic tests on him, so he can take part in the hunt for the missing girls. A police officer comes over to talk to Steve and he immediately asks to be part of the search team given he is an SES member but the officer wants a photo of Didge.
Number 26
And on cue, Declan is looking at a photo of Didge on his mobile before calling her and leaving another voicemail.
Bush
Steve is discussing the search with the police officer (who has a photo of Didge) and gets the go ahead from the medic to help in the search party. Before he joins them, his phone rings (the medic returned it to him as it was found at the crash site) but it isn't Didge calling, rather Declan who has called and he breaks it to his son-in-law that there's been an accident.
Number 26
Declan grabs some supplies from the kitchen and just as he's about to leave the house, he runs into Donna and Ringo (they've brought round a jumper for India). Dec is all set to go to the search site but they stop him and eventually manage to get out of him that Steve asked that he look after Miranda rather than joining the search. They further convince him to stay by reassuring him that by the time he gets there Didge will have been found and be on-route back to Erinsborough and volunteer to get him to the hospital.
RINGO: You need to be here.
Hospital
Declan, Ringo and Donna arrive at the hospital and Declan enters Miranda's room. Miranda is pleased to see him and asks if he's heard anything but Declan replies that he hasn't. She tells him that she saw Didge (and that India was crying) after the accident but isn't sure if she is okay or not, adding that Didge said she'd go for help. "You let her go?" he asks but Miranda explains that she was drifting in and out (of consciousness) adding that when she came to, Didge wasn't there.
MIRANDA: (tearfully) I couldn't do anything.
Declan stays strong and reassures her that they'll be fine and she tells him of Steve's promise that he'd find them.
Number 28
Susan is pleased to hear Sunny say that Ringo has gone to see Declan although less so when she hears it wasn't due to her words, rather Sunny's ones. Sunny also mentions the fight with Zeke and while Susan is appreciative of her being frank, she suggests using some diplomacy in with the honesty too.
SUNNY: But isn't that lying?
"No," replies Susan adding that we all like our feelings to be taken into consideration but reassures Sunny that she and Zeke are good for each other. "And that's why he's at Steph's you know throwing darts at my photo?" she remarks as Susan goes to answer the phone and judging by the look on her face, its someone telling her of the Parker car crash.
Bush
Didge does her best to comfort her daughter but as she stands to walk off, she collapses back onto the ground.
Break over and Didge tries singing the footy song to her daughter but she must then become unconscious/goes to sleep as she fails to spot a car that passes by where they are at.
Bush (next day)
The search is in full swing for Didge now daylight has broken. Eventually, Steve hears India cry and makes off in the direction its coming in with the others close behind him. It's good news when he finds his daughter and granddaughter, as they are both alive.
DIDGE: Hello Daddy.
Tearfully he reassures her things will be okay but the medic orders him away so she can check Didge and bubs out.
Hospital
Miranda asks Susan to go and check to see if there is any more news and she leaves the room to do so.
"How's Mrs P?" Ringo asks and Susan replies that she is struggling before catching the passing Jodie to see if there is any news but there isn't. She vetoes for the time being Ringo going into see Miranda and instead asks how Declan is (he's standing behind where they are sitting). "He won't talk to us," Ringo replies and Susan tells him to give Declan time and thanks him (and the sleepy Donna) for being there.
Sunny and Zeke arrive with on the house breakfast courtesy of Harold's Store for everyone.
In the background, Declan gives the waiting 'a look' before going over to ask them what they are doing there and Ringo replies that they are there for him.
DECLAN: Really? Drinking coffee, eating Danishes and chatting huh.
DONNA: No.
DECLAN: No? Well what with Bridget and India out there in the middle of the bush scared and frightened, I could be out there helping to look for them but no, I stupidly listened to you two (looking at Ringo and Donna) and stayed and now what you guys are doing.
Susan spots Jodie coming over and gets him to stop ranting so Jodie can tell him her news.
Declan barges into Miranda's room to tell her the news - Didge and India have been found and they (and Steve) are on-route to the hospital.
Jodie rushes into the room to tell Miranda that the ambulance containing her family will be here in 15 minutes when she sees Miranda trying to disentangle herself from her oxygen mask and release her broken right arm from the metal sling so she can go and see her family. Reluctantly, Miranda lies back in her bed and asks that Declan goes to meet them.
Outside
We get a shot of the air ambulance bringing the Parker family to the hospital.
Hospital
Declan is fretting while they wait for everyone to enter the hospital that he hasn't been told anything about potential injuries, so Susan tries to reassure him that its just so that he isn't told any wrong information. He catches Peggy to get some information from her but she won't tell him anything until she's assessed Didge and leaves so she can meet the now newly arrived Didge as she is wheeled into the hospital.
Declan stares at his unconscious wife in slow motion as she is wheeled into an examination room while the medics bring Peggy up to speed.
Jodie then appears carrying India and tells Declan that she's taking her up to the unit but will be due for a feed soon.
Silently and together with matching looks of despair, Steve and Declan stand and watch as their loved ones are taken away.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Declan is reunited with one member of his family - his daughter as he sits waiting for news with his in-laws.
Dr Newton comes in to update them - Didge is very sick. She's in hyperglycaemic shock, hypothermic and there is signs of internal bleeding.
"How bad?" Steve asks and Peggy replies that they won't know until they operate and Steve gives his permission. Peggy replies that it isn't his permission she requires but Declan's and he immediately gives permission, signing the relevant papers.
DECLAN: (to Peggy) Just... Just save her.
As the credits roll there is a change to them - Lou's name has been removed.
