Number 22
Mickey isn't in a great mood, he won't show Ned the pictures he made at the hall, and he mutely goes up to his room. Ned seems hurt, and shouts after him, but to no avail.
Number 26
Janae is waxing lyrical about Ned and Mickey to Steiger. Janae isn't too happy that Ned was being violent at the play group, and Mickey saw it. Steiger tells her that it was lucky that she was there to stop it, violence doesn't solve anything. Steiger eventually tells Janae that she can't stop talking about Ned, Janae again denies the truth and then rather unconvincingly says that she wouldn't stick around for Ned anyway. Steiger asks who mentioned sticking around (in Erinsborough) and Janae insists that Steiger mentioned it, he of course is adamant that he didn't, and to avoid having to admit her true feelings, Janae disappears to her room to pack more things.
The General Store
Sky serves to ginormous chocolate sundaes to Bree and Anne, as Harold tells Janelle that they are on the house, probably to salve his conscience about knowing the truth about the girls being swapped at birth by Loris, but Janelle obviously oblivious to this thinks it a lovely act of unselfish generosity. The two reminisce about Janelle's time in Erinsborough.
HAROLD: When I first saw you, you had that neck brace thing on, I really did think that I wouldn't be sorry to see you go.
JANELLE: Memories hey..... my neck really was sore though by the way.
HAROLD(not convinced): Mmmmmm.
Janelle says that she is going to miss the place, as there are a good people around, but she can't wait to get to Cairns for a family reunion. Harold asks if she is going to see Loris, and Janelle says that it wouldn't be a family reunion without her, she looks over at Anne and says that she can't wait to thank Loris for finding her. Harold says nothing, and Janelle wonders if he is OK. When Janelle tells Harold that he can come and visit them and Loris anytime he likes, Anne quickly decides that it's time to go, obviously worried about what else will be said. It's a shame as she hasn't touched her sundae, something which Bree is quick to point out, they haven't had two spoons each yet, but Anne is keen to go, and Janelle agrees that they should get home and pack.
When they are gone, Sky tells Harold that he has to tell them, Harold isn't so sure, he thinks that Loris will tell them when she sees them. Harold thinks that people should be free to live their own lives with out interference from others, but it seems that the problem is weighing on his mind. He says that he is going to go and see if Lou is OK with Kerry, and then he will go and see Janelle, but he warns Sky that he may or may not say something.
Sky stays to close up, and it's not long before Caleb arrives. He says that the wall is finished. Sky says that she will be closing up soon, and Caleb is absolutely thrilled when he realises that he will get to turn around the closed sign, what can I say simple things please simple minds, I just hope his new heart can cope with that much excitement.
Number 26
Steiger asks Janae if they can have a chat, he says he wants to get things straight, he asks if it's the case that she is not interested in Ned, and she is moving to Cairns with them, Janae agrees, albeit not very convincingly. Steiger tells her that he is glad that is settled, and adds that Ned will get better at being a dad, it just takes time.
Before the conversation can continue, Janelle, Bree and Anne arrive home, tripping over all the cases that they have been packing. Janelle thinks that they should throw most of their stuff away. She goes to the sofa and picks up a coat, saying that the girls at the Salvos will be stampeding to get it when they see it. It's a vile patterned coat, with a fur lined edge. Her daughters don't seem to share the sentiment.
BREE: That's some serious ugly.
JANAE: Mum, put it away before you hurt someone.
JANELLE: Anne gave me this.
ANNE: The girl in the shop said it was nice.
BREE & JANAE: She lied.
Janelle throws the coat and Bree and Janae, as she clearly has other ideas for her and Steiger.
JANELLE(to Steiger): Hey you, do you want to help me go through the rest of my drawers?
STEIGER: With pleasure.
As Janelle and Steiger disappear to go through her drawers, oooh-er, Anne asks Bree and Janae if they will be ok with seeing Loris again. Janae and Bree say that it was only Janelle who hated her, they both kind of liked her. They assure Anne, that now Loris has brought her to them, she will be Janelle's hero. When the girls suggest nomination Loris for an Australian of the year award, Anne can take no more. She tells her sisters that there was a reason why Loris was so keen to find her, accompanied by some sinister music.
The General store
Sky has finished with the closing up, so asks Caleb if they can go and look at the wall, he says that it's a bit dark now, he would prefer if she saw it in the light of day. He still has his motives though, and suggests that he and Sky go out for dinner to celebrate that it's finished. Sky tells Caleb that he can't go out for dinner with paint on his face, and gets a tissue to wipe it off for him. As Sky looks into his eyes, she comes over all emotional and gives Caleb a hug, she cries, and Caleb wonders what's wrong. Sky says that she is just happy.
Number 26
It seems that Bree and Janae have learned the truth about Loris being responsible for switching Bree and Anne. Anne tries to defend Loris, saying that when Loris realised what she had done she tried to swap them back, but it was too late. Janae and Bree are having none of it though, they can't believe that Loris was lying to them all this time. They come to realise that Loris buying them the house and the stake in Lassiters was all because she felt guilty. Anne tells them that Loris made a mistake, and she is trying to make up for it. Janae accusingly warns Anne not to forgive her, but Anne says that she has more than forgiven her, if it weren't for Loris she would never have met them, and they would all be stuck with the one family. I wouldn't say this was a positive Anne, one family is bad enough sometimes.
Intuitive Bree, realises that Harold must know too, as he was acting all weird before. Surprise surprise, what do you know Harold arrives at the door. Before Bree can confirm her suspicion, Janelle comes back into the lounge, and asks Harold if he is there for her clothes, she is donating them to the Salvos. Now we all know that is not really why Harold is there, but what the hey Harold says that it is anyway. It seems that he will be out of luck however, as Janelle wants him to do it tomorrow, she and Steiger have a night in planned.
Bree decides that she wants to talk to Harold and they get him outside, under the pretence that they want some help with gardening.
BREE: We know why you're here.
HAROLD: You do?
BREE: But first we talk.
Number 22
Mickey thinks that dinner was yum, making Ned realise that he is getting better at cooking.
Mickey tells Ned that it was cool that he yelled at the man, and he should have punched him, I bet Ned thinks he should have punched him too, but remembering that he is Mickey's father, and that he should be setting an example, Ned tells Mickey that scaring and punching people is not on. Ned goes into Mickey's bag, and takes out the carrier bag with Mickey's dirty clothes. Mickey looks ashamed when he sees it, and Ned tells him not to worry about it, as everyone has accidents. Mickey obviously thinks that punching people is the answer though, as he starts screaming at Ned to shut up, and them starts punching him, quite cute considering that Mickey's outstretched fists barely reach Ned's chest. Ned seems to be taking to this fatherhood thing though, as he kneels down and comforts Mickey, telling him that things are OK.
Ramsay Street
Bree and Janae tell Harold that they know everything that Loris did, but beg him not to say anything to Janelle, as they have never seen her this happy, and news like this would kill her.
Number 26
Janelle wonders what the girls are doing outside. She asks Anne, who says that she is sure that it is nothing. When Janelle says that she is going outside to find out, Anne stops her, she lies to Janelle by telling her that they are planning a surprise for her birthday. Janelle points out that her birthday is ages away, to which bad liar Anne says that it's a 'really big surprise' Janelle sees through the lie, telling Anne that the lie is the 'lamest of the lame.' But before she actually can go out and investigate, Steiger distracts her telling her to get on with the packing.
Ramsay Street
The rather private discussion is still taking place in the street, should they not have at least gone over to Harold's house, it's hardly appropriate to discuss this in the street, but alas the girls are still pleading with Harold not to tell Janelle. They say that their family deserve to be happy, and Harold agrees that he will say nothing, and is actually relieved to be doing so. He can't help but stick up for Loris though, when he tells them that Loris felt dreadful about what she did, and tried to put everything right. He begs them to give her a second chance, without actually answering the question Bree tells Harold that he rocks and gives him a hug.
Number 22
Mickey and Ned are eating Elle's ice cream, and Mickey asks for more. Without any hesitation Ned agrees, now come on Ned any responsible parent knows that giving a kid too much ice cream is going to make them sick, but since you are new at this, we will forgive you. It might also seem that Ned is using the ice cream as a bribe, to get Mickey to talk about what happened earlier. Mickey tells Ned that he wants Janae to stay, Ned says that he does too, but it's her decision, and they can't change it. He also takes the opportunity to reiterate his point about never hitting anyone, no matter how sad we are. Mickey rightfully points out that Janae will be hitting someone tomorrow, but Ned says that it's different as it's a sport. Mickey asks if he can go, but Ned says no, he's too little and it's not a place for kids. It seems that Ned is quite good at this parenting thing. Mickey innocently asks if Janae will be alright, Ned assures him that she will, as he will look after her. It seems that that is just what Ned wants to do.
The Community Centre- The Boxing Match
Janelle and Michaela are getting ready for the fight. Janae seems to have a lot of support. Ned tells her that this is her moment, this is what all the hard work and sweat is for.
In the audience, Janelle is nervous, and doesn't think that she can watch, but Steiger assures her that Janae will be fine, she's been trained for this.
Anne wants to know what the other girl looks like, and Sky points out that she looks like a girl who has spent a lot of time in detention, more tactful than I would have put it there Sky.
Janelle gets Ned's attention, and warns him to throw in the towel, the second he sees that Janae is in trouble. Ned agrees.
The referee, calls the boxers forward and explains the rules. Janae and Michaela have a staring contest, which would be a much better idea, and much less painful than boxing. Anyhow, Michaela has a warning for Janae:
MICHAELA: Save yourself the pain, go down as soon as you can.
Janae says nothing, but seems to be unnerved, as she returns to her corner to prepare, Ned tells her that she has the edge on fitness, so she has to make Michaela work hard. He also warns Janae that it should be just jabs this round.
As the bell rings the fight begins, Janae gets the first few jabs in, but as Michaela provokes Janae with a free punch, Janae ignores Ned's pleas to only jab, and takes a swing at her opponent, something that Michaela quickly takes advantage of and knocks Janae to the floor in one fell swoop. There is a horrified gasp from the audience.
The ref is doing his count, and on the count of seven Janae manages to get herself up. When she looks over at Ned, he motions towards the towel, it seems that he wants to throw it in, but Janae shakes her head, she wants to get on with the fight.
Janae gets a good punch in, but it's not enough, Michaela quickly recovers and the fight continues.
The General Store
Caleb arrives as Harold is cleaning up, he tells Caleb that Sky isn't there, but Caleb says that actually it's him he wanted to see. Harold seems surprised, but Caleb starts sucking up to Harold and asks him if it will be OK if he asks Sky out. Harold tells him that he doesn't want to see Sky hurt again, and Caleb assures him that he would never do anything to hurt Sky, and he totally understands that he will play second fiddle to Kerry, and he wouldn't want it any other way. Harold concedes that in that case Caleb has his blessing to date Sky. He tells Caleb that he thinks that he is a fine young fella, and insists that Caleb calls him Harold.
The Boxing Match
There are lots of cheers for Janae from the crowd, but it seems that Janae is being over-powered as Michaela has her backed into a corner. Sky says that she doesn't know if she can watch anymore, it seems a bit traumatic for Janae's supporter to be watching, Anne says that the sound is bad enough. Janelle isn't impressed, she thinks that Ned should throw in the towel, but Steiger assures her that both Ned and Janae know what they are doing.
As the bell rings to signify the end of the round Ned jumps into the ring to get Janae water. Ned suggests that it's time to quit, but Janae is adamant that she doesn't want to. Realising that will be Janae's final answer, Ned tries a different tack, and gets Janae to look at him and focus, something which I bet Janae has been doing a lot of lately. He tells Janae that he can do this.
In the background, Janelle can take no more, as she storms out of the venue with Steiger in hot pursuit.
The Parking lot at the Community Centre
Janelle is in tears, as she tells Steiger that Ned is letting her little girl get hurt.
STEIGER: He's not going to let her get hurt, he loves her, and I think she loves him too. I know it's hard, but think of all the effort Janae's put into this. She's been through a lot, and this has helped her get through it, this and Ned. She needs to prove to herself that she can do it.
Janelle tells Steiger that Janae gets her fighting spirit from her, and Steiger agrees, he tells Janelle that is what he loves about her and her kids, they never quit. The pep talk seems to have worked, as Janelle decides that they should get back inside, her little girl needs her.
The Boxing Match
We're into the third round and Janae is still giving as good as she gets, it even seems as though she has the upper hand as the bell goes to signify the end of the match.
When Janae returns to her seat, she tells Ned that she would have had Michaela if she just had one more round.
The ref checks his board, and declares the winner to be from the red corner- Michaela in other words. Michaela is pleased with her win, but Janae storms back to the corner, and tells Ned that she only needed one more round to win. Ned assures her that she was awesome, she went the distance with one of the greatest fighters around, and showed everyone how gutsy she is, nobody can take that away from her.
NED: You're awesome Janae (and something tells me he doesn't just mean at boxing)
JANAE: You're not so bad yourself, dopey.
Michaela comes over and tells Janae that she had a good fight, her tone has changed now that she has won the fight, and is friendly when she asks Janae for a rematch in Brisbane, something to which Janae agrees to. The two shake hands. Ned asks Janae if that means that she is still moving, with more than a little longing in his eye. Janae says that she guesses she is, but as the two would be lovers look at each other, it seems that it's not what either of them want to happen.
Mickey runs in with Harold and Kerry behind, Mickey is excited and wants to see Janae's belt. Ned has to tell him that there is no belt this time, but she did do really well.
Harold however, thinks it's all madness, he doesn't agree with boxing. Sky points out that it's a bit rich coming from someone who got kicked out of a footie match for rowdy behaviour, Harold is quick to point out that it wasn't like that.
Janae comes out of the dressing room to a rapturous applause from her supporters. Janelle tells her that she is really proud of her, and that when they get to Cairns she is going to get her a real trainer, then hastily telling Ned that she doesn't mean any offence.
Ned says nothing, it's not his training skills that he is worried about, it's the thought of losing Janae from the mournful look on his face as he tells Janae that he is going home. Janae lingeringly watches Ned and Mickey leave, before turning to Janelle and telling her that she can't go to Cairns, she is staying in Erinsborough.
