Recap
- Jack confronting Connor about Michelle.
- Lou putting Susan in a headlock not letting go of Susan.
Susan's
Lou is stunned at what just happened. He apologises and makes a hasty retreat. Susan tells him not to leave because he's upset, but he's too embarrassed to even look at her.
Coffee Shop
Michelle asks Harold how he is, and he tells her that people think he's changed after his stroke and they're not liking the new Harold. He wonders how he's changed and Michelle says that maybe the new Harold is the real Harold. Connor comes in wondering if it's too late to get a banana smoothie (it looks like closing time) and is surprised to see Michelle there. Harold doesn't want to make them one but Shell persuades him to when she says that it's something the old Harold would have done. Michelle asks Connor if they could just chill out and be friends, which Connor gratefully agrees to. Michelle asks what Harold's doing and he tells her to pull her head in, "And I don't care which Harold said that, I agree with him wholeheartedly."
Susan's
Susan is telling Lyn what happened with Lou and how sorry she feels for him. Lyn's sympathetic towards the both of them. "It was as if everything that had happened to him over the years had just built up and came crashing down," says Susan. Lyn wonders if Lou might need professional help. Susan's not sure but says they should keep an eye on him.
Pub
Max is locking up for the night and is surprised to see Lou walk in. Lou's in a testy mood and doesn't want to talk to him. Max sees the lipstick on Lou's cheek and jokingly says it's good to see he's got back on the horse. Lou goes into the office and vigorously tries to rub it off, looking mortified.
Number 30
Carmella comes over to show off her bridesmaid dress to Connor, and also to get away from her talkative family. Stu and Connor both admire her twirling around until Connor glares at Stu and he goes for his run. Carmella tells Connor that she's never felt this way about anyone before, he makes her feel alive. She says that she'll sneak out of the reception early so they can say goodbye properly before she leaves for Italy again the next day. Carmella tells Connor she loves him and asks him to say it to her. He does, but when they kiss he looks torn.
Lou's Backyard
Lou's on the phone to Rose, the lady that bought the car from him yesterday. He's got an attack of the guilt's and says that there's something that needs to be fixed in the car because it's not safe, and he'll do it free of charge. He gets some more money out of the compost bin. Harold pops his head over the fence and asks if Lou noticed the worms he put in there. He also asks if Lou had a big night last night because he's all slouched over. Lou gets grumpy and says it's because he hasn't got a moment's peace. Harold snits that he's in a good mind to take his worms back.
Number 30
Connor is telling Stu all his worries about Michelle and Carmella. Stu says since they're both leaving soon, maybe he can tell them both what they want to hear. Connor isn't too keen on that. There's a knock at the door. Michelle walks in to give Connor a book of limericks she found, and gives him a quick kiss on the lips before she goes. Connor says he's found his answer - He wants to break up with Carmella.
Coffee Shop
Lil and David have varying ideas about what they want to do that night. Lil wants to go out to the new jazz club Susan went to, and David wants to stay home and watch a war documentary. Lyn walks in with Oscar and Harold is extra nice to them since the last time they were there, he told Lyn off for having a noisy baby. Lyn looks a little bewildered. Lou comes in and says hello but looks scared when Lyn acts wary around him, and even more worried when Max comes in. Lou runs off saying he's not hungry.
Pub Office
Lou's on the phone to Steph, telling her to get that car fixed for Rose, pronto. Susan comes in wanting to chat to Lou, but Lou doesn't want to be on the same room with her due to his embarrassment at his behaviour. Susan says that he can count on her friendship and that he can talk to her anytime. Lou can't look her in the eye and walks out of the office to escape.
Susan's
Lyn's over for the book club. Susan's just about to tell her what happened when she went to see Lou when Lil comes over. The conversation changes, and Lil and Lyn confess that they didn't read the book fully. Lil tells them about how she's feeling a little bored and how David doesn't want to go out anywhere. Susan smiles and says that the girls should have a night on the town.
Bishops - Scullys - Susan's
Lil struts out in a nice red dress. David's looking a bit worried and asks what he's going to do all night. Lil says that he can spend the night with his other love, the television.
Michelle's putting make-up on Lyn while Jack's complaining about looking after Oscar. Lyn says that Valda's there to help. "Valda's in the bathroom with a jug of Bailey's and a Hello! magazine," scoffs Jack.
Susan is fussing over her clothes in front of the hall mirror. She doesn't like outfit number one.
David whines that he doesn't know what to have for dinner. Lil says there's stuff in the freezer, but David doesn't want frozen food. Lil says it's not her problem tonight.
Jack asks Lyn what he can have for dinner. Michelle says that Lyn isn't his slave, but Jack says he can't exactly cook and look after Oscar. "No, well of course I've never had to do those two things at the same time, have I love," Lyn says.
Susan whirls around in front of the mirror in a new outfit and over-enthusiastically says "Hi!" She's not impressed.
David tries a last ditch effort by asking what he's going to tell Serena when she gets home. Lil smirks and says to tell her she's gone raging and not to wait up. David gets the door shut in his face whinging that she used to dress up like that for him.
Jack's trying some good old emotional blackmail on Lyn by saying he hopes Joe doesn't ring so he doesn't have to explain where she is. Lyn doesn't really seem to care and flies out the door.
Susan now has her hair up and has a new outfit on. She practices her introductions to Brent (the man that drove her home from the club last time). She takes a deep breath and leaves the house before she can change her mind again.
Jazz Club
Karl's at the club with his guitar, talking to the bartender about his set that's coming up. He seems a little nervous, but the bartender says he's heard the tape, he liked it, and Karl will be fine. Karl sees the ladies arrive and hides behind a wall.
The women walk up to the counter. Susan looks around and says that they could "baby-sit this lot!" The bartender walks up to get their order and he's pleased to see Susan. The bartender is in fact, Brent. She makes her introductions and chats to Brent while Lil and Lyn have a giggle. He says that he'll have a dance with her later and goes to get their drinks. Lyn tells Lil that Brent drove Susan home the other night. Lil laughs and says that Brent has the hots for Susan. Susan jokingly tells her to shut up, but looks secretly pleased.
Karl has lost what nerve he had to sing at the club and lies to Brent that a medical emergency came up and he will have to take a rain check, "stay cool."
Pub
David is complaining to Lou about Lil having a girl's night out.
LILJANA: "And what makes it worse is that they think we won't know what to do with ourselves."
DAVID: "Like we're completely useless without them."
LILJANA: "So what's it gonna be?"
DAVID: "I can't decide..."
LILJANA: "Schnitzel's good."
DAVID: "Thanks mate, done. It's ridiculous. I mean do they seriously believe that we can't cope without them for a single... I can't find my wallet."
Karl comes in looking morbid and asks for a drink. David tells him he's having a boys night out while "the trouble and strife is out dancing at some semi-naked, decadent, jazz club thing... not that I mind!"
Jazz Club
The ladies are having a great time dancing. Susan says it's nearly ten and maybe they should think about going, but Lyn and Lil shut that idea down. Brent comes over and asks Lil if she wants a dance, and they tango away. Susan and Lyn laugh.
Number 30
Carmella comes over, all happy that she caught the bouquet. Connor has his serious face on though and wants to talk. He gloomily tells her that he doesn't think their relationship is going to work out and that they should split up. "Look, I love you okay, I do. But I'm just not in love with you." Carmella initially thinks he's changed his mind because of Rocco, but then thinks it's because of Michelle. Connor says it isn't, but she gets upset. He says he didn't want to hurt her but she doesn't want to hear it. She throws the flowers at Connor and goes, leaving him looking uncomfortable.
Scullys
Michelle hears a knock at the door and thinks Lyn left her keys at home. It's actually Carmella looking angry and upset. "I've got something for you," says Carmella, and slaps Michelle across the face. She says to Shell that she took Connor away from her, that she probably planned it all along. Jack comes out to see what all the commotion is about. Carmella says to Michelle that she's ruined her life, "hope you're satisfied." She leaves and Michelle informs Jack that Connor must have broken up with Carmella and finally come to his senses. Jack gets all brotherly and warns Michelle that she shouldn't waste her time on him, "the guy is gutless, you don't know what he did." Michelle gives him a look and wants to know what he means.
