Toadie and Dee are arguing.
Susan and Karl are arguing - Karl is telling Susan that she is living in a world that doesn't exist.
Summer is missing.
Lou and Rosie are sitting at a table, Drew comes in and tells them that there has been no sign of a little gil at the chemist.
Rosie wants to give her a few more minutes, she thinks that she may have stopped to watch something. She says that she is just a bit worried after Karl said that Summer would need more tests, and she was to make sure that she didn't excert herself. Drew, Lou and Rosie all blame themselves for Summer's dissaperacne, all thik that they should have taken better care of her.
Libby arrives, and she and Drew decide to go out looking for Summer. Lou is going to call the school.
Rosie looks worried.
Lou places his hand on Rosie's shoulder and tells her Hey she will be alright I know she will
KARL: Well if you are not going to seek help, how do you see your life panning out, what is it you want?
SUSAN: I haven't really thought about it
KARL: Well perhaps you should think about it, Susan your family love you, we would do anything in the world for you, but at the moment you're living amongst us like you're a distant boarder or something, an aquaintance, is that what you want?
SUSAN: I DON'T KNOW, I just find it very difficult to be told what to do by someone I can't even remember. Can't you understand that?
KARL:Well yes, that is why I am suggesting you see someone who is trained to deal with your problem, but not only that, someone who doesn't have an interest in the outcome, now doesn't that make senes? Well doesn't it?
SUSAN: Maybe, wanna walk me back to Ramsay St?
SUSAN: Think we should run?
KARL: No I don't
KARL: No I just think that we should just walk and talk
Army Training Centre
Stuart walks into the Sergeant's office. The Sergeant tells him that he will be with him in a moment, and orders him Don't stand easy Parker
Karl and Susan are strolling along, when they notice someone in the bushes, they realise it is Summer, Karl asks Summer if she can hear him, when he gets no response he takes out his mobile and calls for an ambulance.
In perhaps his most wooden scene Stu is in the Sergeant's office.
STU: This is about the team building exercise yesterday, isn't it?
SERGEANT: This is an ongoing assessment
STU: I just made a few helpful suggestions, it was the smart way to do it.
SERGEANT: Becuase you're instructor is too stupid to know the right way?
STU: No Sergeant, I was just trying to help
SERGEANT: Parker we have two kinds of recruit in the army
SERGEANT: Those who join to be in the army, and those who join to escape something in civilian life
STU: Well it can't all be bad
SERGEANT: Quite the joker aren't you Parker? This is serious business
STU: Yes Sergeant
SERGEANT: Sitting here listening to you, and reading your report I am not convinced you truly believe that, why did you join the army Parker?
STU: To serve my country Sergeant
SERGEANT: Ah give it a rest, tell me the truth.
STU: The Army is something I've always wanted to do
SERGEANT: Then I suggest that you start falling into line, we don't want soldiers who feel the need to question their superior officers, or make jokes at their expense
STU: If I've offended anyone, then I'm sorry. It won't happen again
SERGEANT: I hope not Parker I'd like you to prove me wrong
STU: Yes Sir
SERGEANT: You could be a good soldier if that's what you truly want. Dismissed
Rosie and Drew arrive at the hospital to be told by Karl, that Summer has fainted again, he tells them that it's not epilepsy, but he is running tests.
Summer is playing with Susan who is sitting on her bed. Rosie and Drew walk into the room, Rosie tells her that she was worried about her.
Drew and Susan meet Karl in the corridor who tells them that he is begginging to think that it's not neurological, and with a worried look on his face tells them that he has run some heart tests. Drew and Susan exchange worried glance.
Dee and Libby (and Ben) are having lunch, they are discussing Summer and Dee decides to go to work early to see how Summer is, as she gets up to walk out she bumps into Toadie. There is an awkward exchange as they each unconvincingly tell each other that they are enjoying living in the house and flat respectively.
As Dee leaves, Libby summons Toadie to the table, she not so subtly asks Toadie when he is going to get together with Dee.
TOADIE: Forget it mate, there is nothing to see there
LIBBY: Really? Well I wish I had a mirror to hold up to your goofy love struck face whenever she is around.
TOADIE: Good on you mate
LIBBY: I've known you a very long time, what's it going to take?
TOADIE: Just don't OK, things are better the way they are
TOADIE: Yeah, well for a start...
Libby No, no, no, no don't start, you're not going to convince me, let alone yourself. Just take my advice and just do something about it
Karl is explaining to Summer what is going to happen when she goes to get the heart tests, reassuring her that she won't feel anything, and is promising her jelly beans.
As Karl leaves, Susan turns to Rosie, and reassures her that everything will be alright.
Drew and Libby walk into the bar and notice Todie sitting at the bar, Libby tells Drew that she thought that he would have gone to see Dee. Drew tell her that he didn't think that he would, but Libby tells him that the day is young. *wub smilie*
As they sit at the table and chat, they see that Toadie is at the door about to leave, but as he grabs the door handle he quickly drops it again, and turns to them with a thoughtful look on his face.
Drew and Lib go to ask him if he is OK, he says that he thought that he left something at the bar, Libby tells him that she thought that he may have been going to see Dee. Toadie says that he will do it later because she is working, but Libby convinces him to go straight away, much to Drew's disdain, as they have had a bet on as to wether he would do it, and Drew hands the cash to Libby.
As Toadie sheepishly walks through the door and glimpses Dee at the filing cabinet it looks like he is finally about to reveal his feelings to her. Just at that moment Dee turns around to see none other than her ex-boyfriend Ray, who tells her that he is fresh, free, and out of the army. As Toadie sees the smile on Dee's face when she sees Ray, he turns around a broken man, and leaves!
Karl tells Rosie that Summer will be fine to go home. Rosie asks is she wil be OK, Karl assures her that she will. There is a nice momemt between Karl and Susan when she comes into the room with a coffee for Karl and remembers how he takes it (sugar one and a half) there is definite sparks of re-ignited chemistry between them.
Army Training Ground
Stu is talking to a fellow soldier, being derogatory about the Sergeant, and who walks by to hear him bad mouthing him, but the Sergeant himself, who demands that he reports to his office at 1730
Dee is talking to Ray at the desk, he is asking her out on a date. Dee takes Ray aside and tells him that she doesn't want to hurt him, but things are complicated, and that she is kind of involved.
Ray tells her that he knows exactly how he feels, and that is not going to change. Dee looks on awkwardly.
Libby and Drew's Flat
Summer and Drew are at the table as Summer explains to Drew what happened at the hospital.
Rosie's mobile rings, it's Karl who tells her that the test results are in, and that if she is still at Libby and Drew's he will come by there and speak to her. She asks if there is anything he can tell her about the results over the phone, such as if they are good news.
Karl pauses, and tells her that it is technical, and complicated, but he will see her shortly.
As Rosie comes off the phone she glances over at Summer with a worried expression on her face.
Toadie is sitting at the counter, with a forlorn look upon his face. Libby asks him how it went with Dee, and she asks him how it went. He tells her that Ray was there, and she looked really happy to see him.
Libby tells him that it doesn't mean anything. Toadie is not convinced, he tells her that he doesn't want to have a relationship with someone when he is going to be jealous every time someone talks to her.
Libby tells him Toadie listen to me, Dee is one of the most loyal and loving person you are ever likely to meet, and I know she would never do anything to hurt you *more wub smilies
The Sergeant tells Stu that he is five minutes late. He tells Stu that he believes that he has been wasting his breath with Stu. He tells him to seriously consider things before he signs on for four years.
Toadie is sitting at the bar, when Ray comes in and asks him how he has been.
Toadie tells him that he didn't expect to see him around here.
Ray asks him if he can get him a job in the kitchen at Lassiters.Toadie tells Ray that it depends on how long he is planning to stick around.Ray tells him it depends on how long it takes to get things happening with Dee.
Toadie asks how it is going, and Ray says that She is definately up for it
Toadie has a go at Ray.
RAY: Settle down, what's it to you if I have a crack at her or not?
TOADIE: Cos I happen to care about her mate......a lot
Drew and Libby's Flat
Karl tells Summer that they think that she has Long QT syndrome
SUMMER: Isn't that what mum died from? Is that going to happen to me?
Rosie and Karl look on with concerned looks on their faces.
Toadie arrives at the hospital to speak to Dee
DEE: Hey, are you here to see erm.... who are you here to see?
TOADIE: I wanted to ask you something
TOADIE: Erm will you go out for dinner with me?
DEE: Oh, I was just going to get some take away spag bol or something
TOADIE: No I meant like tomorrow night or something. It's just I realise that I have been acting really weird lately, and I have probably given you the wrong idea about how I feel about you. So I want to take you out to dinner, and let you know how I really feel about you
TOADIE: Yeah this is a really big thing
DEE: (With a huge grin on her face) I'd love that Toad, I'd really love that
*tears on page as summariser cries with pride and happiness*
Karl is cooking Susan dinner. Such a sweet scene.
SUSAN: I hope I'm not outstaying my welcome.
KARL: Yeah you are actually can you leave.
Susan sits at the counter, and tells Karl that he is a very good doctor. She asks him if it is something that he always wanted to do. He tells her that he just wanted to help her, just like in her job.
"Teaching?" Susan asks.
As they discuss things Susan gets a flash back about teaching in a classroom.
Karl sees the look on her face and asks if she is OK....
