Recap
Lou giving Harold his letter about Lolly to read and Harold replying that it can't be true.
Steph becoming inconsolable at the car on fire and having to be restrained.
Bush
The fire brigade extinguish the fire as Steph sits in a police car.
No. 24
Harold and Lou are mystified by the thought of someone other than Lou being Lolly's father although Harold doesn't think the letter is the work of a lunatic given the way it is written.
No. 26
Tess calls round with wedding invitations for Joe and Lyn as Joe answers the phone. Tess also mentions that Steph is invited too but Lyn tells her that Steph is away at the moment, which surprises Tess as Steph didn't say anything to her about going away. As Lyn starts to talk to Tess about the wedding, Joe having finished the call tells her there is a problem so Tess takes it as a clue and leaves. With Tess gone, Joe tells Lyn there has been an accident and she immediately thinks of Steph.
Hospital
Joe, Lyn and Michelle rush to the hospital where Karl reassures them that although she is heavily sedated, she is unhurt (they transferred her to Erinsborough to be near her family). Michelle wants to rush in and see Steph but Karl stops her to reinforce the fact that Steph is in a deep shock and hasn't even spoken yet. Karl again says that Steph is unhurt because she wasn't in the car, which surprises Joe, and Karl adds that the police want to talk to Steph as soon as she is able to. Lyn asks about Woody and Karl tells him he doesn't know. They head into Steph's room now but doesn't take on her family despite them talking to her.
No. 24
Harold asks Lou if he intends going to Tess and Darcy's wedding but he has other things on his mind. Lou tells Harold he is going to ignore the letter because he doesn't know who sent it. Harold is a bit sceptical about it and adds that the writer sounds sincere and he shouldn't be dismissed immediately.
The Coffee Shop
Drew chats to Leo about the break dancing he saw earlier when Maggie comes in and turns down is request without Leo properly asking her (he wanted the music they were using). Maggie asks Drew if they've got a date for the meeting with the Chronicle yet, they haven't, so she asks him to let her know when he does before she leaves with Leo.
No. 24
Lou is trying to justify to Harold why she should ignore the letter - he'd have lived a lie for the past 6 years otherwise. Harold offers a quote from the bible (and the truth shall set you free) as a way of telling Lou that unless he deals with it, he can't have any peace. Lou however doesn't like this, so Harold suggests doing a DNA test to confirm parentage.
Hospital
Steph still isn't saying a word despite her family being with her for 3 hours, so Joe seeks out Karl to see if this is normal. Karl tells him people react differently to emotional trauma and says that the best thing for Steph is reassurance and that her family are there for her. Joe replies that it doesn't look like Steph knows they are there but he assures Joe that she does know and to keep talking to her and she'll speak when she is ready to.
Joe heads back in and tells them what Karl said (to keep talking) and they all take turns at telling her they love her and reassuring her but Steph still doesn't talk.
No. 24
Lou asks Harold some questions about DNA when Leo calls looking for Paul but he is visiting Tad, so Leo leaves and they return to the original discussion. Lou tells Harold he isn't keen on undergoing DNA testing and they won't go ahead with that as he feels he's been Lolly's dad for the past 6 years and doesn't need someone to tell him that. Harold tries to reassure him and before Lou leaves, he suggests a talk to Karl for more information.
Hospital
Michelle talks to Steph about what happened at the school camp but she still doesn't reply. Outside, Karl agrees with a police officer that they should come back in the morning before Joe adds that the police aren't the only one wanting answers. Karl asks Joe why Steph and Woody were on the road anyway, so Joe brings Karl up to speed on that topic. Joe also reminisces with Karl the agony he went through when Libby was in hospital after the bike crash.
No. 26
Joe brings Lyn a cuppa and she wonders if Woody's mum knows that Woody is dead and he presumes the police would have told her. Lyn admits she wished that she wanted Woody to disappear from Steph's life but after what has happened, adds that she'd do anything to get him back. Joe wonders if Steph will get over it and Lyn replies that Steph will have to get used to it. Lyn begins to regret leaving the hospital but Joe reiterates what Karl said, that Steph needs to sleep but neither Joe nor Lyn feel like sleeping.
Lassiters Complex (next day)
Lou heads to the surgery but it is still closed. Drew spots him after coming out of TCS and heads over and apologies for the way he reacted at the garage yesterday. Lou accepts this and Drew heads off running into Karl on his way to the surgery. Lou plucks up the courage to ask him if he can get an appointment and they head inside to check.
Hospital
Lyn and Joe debate sending Flick and Michelle to school before going into Steph's room. They ask if she is feeling better and Steph finally croaks that she is thirsty. They give her some water and she asks how long she has been in hospital for. Lyn says yesterday afternoon, and Steph remembers an accident, which Joe confirms. Steph asks about Woody and as she starts to get upset, Joe tells her that there was an accident and Woody didn't survive. Steph now gets very upset and accuses her parents of lying to her. They console her and tell her that it is the truth.
Lassiters Complex
Maggie runs into Drew and tells him the news that she has just received - they've got a date for the meeting but they have engaged a big law firm (Stuart, Whitehead and More) to act as their counsel and they like to eat up people like them for breakfast. Drew asks how much a top QC would cost, $3-4k a day, so he suggests they ask Toadie to help until she points out it is the same firm Toadie is doing his articles with. Drew wishes her luck when she tells Libby the news.
Hospital
Steph finishes talking to the police and Joe and Lyn come in with the good news that she can go home today. Joe asks if she manage to tell the police anything, but Steph replies that she wasn't much use because she wasn't there and didn't see what happened. She also confirms nobody else saw it too and they (or her) can't work out what happened and adds that it doesn't make sense either as they had been joking around and that she thought he'd driven off to scare her but he didn't stop. Steph then wonders if Woody had changed his mind about her if he loved her or not but Lyn tries to get her to calm down before telling her that Woody loved her very much. She then tells her parents that Woody asked her to marry him.
Surgery
Lou finishes telling Karl about what the letter said and is frustrated about the claims. Karl sympathises with him before asking how he is dealing with it. Lou replies that he is having trouble sleeping before asking Karl that he can help give him some answers. Karl confirms that he wants a DNA test but suggests that he waits since he's had a shock and could get a bigger one if the results don't go Lou's way. He then suggests that Lou talks to a counsellor to help him deal with whatever happens.
No. 26
Lyn comes back from Steph's room with her food as she is sleeping. Joe wonders what happened that made the car crash because Woody was an experienced driver. Lyn suggests a blow out but Joe isn't so sure but hopes that the police can work it out. Lyn sadly says that it won't help put Steph back together, so Joe adds that it is their job to do that.
Surgery
Karl is still trying to get Lou to go to counselling before undertaking the DNA test but Lou dismisses that, so Karl suggests Lou writes a letter instead. Lou again dismisses this, but Karl suggests it could help clarify some issues but Lou replies that the only thing that needs clarifying is whether Lolly is his daughter or not and wants him to get started on the test immediately.
