Michelle tells Lance that Stephanie likes glass-blown ornaments. Rachel tells Tad she's sorry, he says he's survived without her for this long and at least he can put a face to the name.
Tad is late for school and Susan asks him why that is. He's a bit rude to her and she says they need to talk about what's wrong. He tells her things are fine and heads off to class. Simone asks him why he was late and he doesn't really want to talk to her. Simone asks Paul what might be wrong with him and Paul says it must be something about Rachel.
At the uni radio station, Toadfish sees a poster for the student council and tells Lance that he'd be really good for it. Lance is against it at first but starts to think seriously about it - with Toadie's encouragement of course. Stephanie turns up and thinks Lance would be great on the council. She's really there to do her Lucy Love segment but can't be long as she has to get back to work. One of the calls comes from her boss who makes it quite clear that she should be back at work already! When she's gone, Toadie decides to dedicate a song to Lou (he doesn't name him, but it's quite obvious) because of what happened with Merridy - Lou is listening and looks touched.
Lou sees Harold at the Coffee Shop - he asks when Madge will get back and Harold says it won't be any more than a month. Later, Harold tells Lou he heard the song that Toadie played and realised it must have been for him. Harold tries to talk to him about Merridy, but Lou says he'd rather not at the moment. Harold says the offer is always there.
Susan sees Tad sitting on the stairs at school and takes him into a classroom to ask him what's going on. He tells her what's happened and she's very understanding - even telling him to take the afternoon off and that she will cover for him with his teachers. What a woman! As he leaves, Simone calls out to him but he just carries on walking. When he gets home, Tad tries to write a last letter to Rachel - he finds it hard at first but eventually gets there and delivers it to her house. He apologises for the way he acted, although personally I think he was totally justified.
Harold talks to Susan about Rachel. He stands up for her and says that he thinks Tad is expecting too much from her. I hope this is just because Harold doesn't know the full story and not because we're supposed to feel sorry for her! As if! Okay, so it must be hard for her but surely Tad's the victim here?!
Toadfish gets home and when he realises no-one is there, he gets out the present he's bought for Steph - a lovely glass-blown ornament! Lance comes in and has exactly the same thing, but they both pretend it's something else. Toadie says he got her darts and Lance says it's a pen and pencil set.
Simone is looking for Tad but he's not in so she and Paul have a chat instead. They talk about Tad amongst other things.
Simone tells Paul that he's been really great to her. He says it hasn't been hard to be nice to her.
