Susan thinks she and Karl can make the Wangaretta job work, at least for a while. She asks Sarah if she's told Karl about the man she's involved with, which makes her rather uncomfortable.

Karl comes in at that moment and Susan asks him to give them some space for a girl talk.

Bowling Green
It's Harold and Paul versus Lou and Hannah. Harold's next bowl misses its target and lands in the ditch!

Susan tells sarah not to blame Libby for telling her about the married man - she was just worried about Sarah. Susan tells Sarah to come around at any time if she needs anyone to talk to. Karl is listening behind the bedroom door looking uncomfortable.

When Sarah has gone, Karl comes out, and Susan tells him that they should be sensitive with Sarah until she gets over the married man in question.

Toadie comes in to tell them that the high school merger is still off, but confesses that he was behind the extra enrollments. Susan hugs him.

SUSAN: Oh, you're a good boy. It worked brilliantly!

Karl is speechless!

Darren tells Shannon that he was an idiot for kissing her - it was at a time when his guard was down. Shannon accepts this and heads off.

Toadie comes in as Shannon is leaving and asks Darren what's going on with her. Darren gives him a selected history and advises Toadie to give Shannon some space.

Bowling Green
Paul's bowl just misses. Now it's Harold's turn and Lou taunts him a bit. He bowls and manages to get his bowl a bit closer.

At the end of the game, Lou quietly steals one of Harold's bowls and replaces it with one from his bag!

Coffee Shop
Toadie sees Shannon in the Coffee Shop and tells her he's sorry she didn't meet anyone in the Uni Ball. She's surprised to hear that Darren told Toadie this and rolls her eyes. Toadie looks concerned.

TOADIE: Something happened at the ball, didn't it? Between you and Darren. Something serious.
SHANNON: No, nothing serious.

He finally drags it out of her that Darren kissed her and Toadie is very shocked indeed.

TOADIE: It's not like he hasn't done it before, eh? He's not going to get away with it this time.

Surgery
Karl calls Kim and suggests that he makes an offer of tuition to Sarah he thinks she'll say yes this time.

Toadie storms in and confronts Darren.

DARREN: Nothing happened.
TOADIE: Did you kiss her?!
DARREN: Nothing happened, alright!
TOADIE: It may have been a bit of fun for you, pal, but why did you have to pick Shannon? Why did you have to hurt her?

Toadie continues to rant and Darren insists that he's not trying to take Shannon off Toadie. Toadie grabs him by the front of his T-shirt.

TOADIE: Does Libby know?
DARREN: No.
TOADIE: Then maybe she should!

Darren begs Toadie not to tell Libby - there's no point in hurting her too.

Karl is back from the surgery, while Darren and Libby cuddle up on the sofa(!) Karl offers to take Susan out to lunch in the city before she goes to Wangarette. Susan is surprised and teases Karl on being suddenly spend-thrift!

Bowling Green
Paul bowls, and the ball goes forward and then rolls around and back again! Harold is suspicious and picks the ball up. He tries it himself, and it does the same thing! Harold looks more closely at the bowl and says it isn't the one they started with. Lou starts to laugh and confess that he switched the bowls as a joke. Harold is not pleased and tells Lou to leave the premises or he'll have them evicted. Paul says that if Lou gives them the money they'll forget about it! Harold still wants him out though.

No.28, night time
Susan and Karl are cuddling on the sofa. Karl says he doesn't want her to go back to Wangaretta.

There's a knock at the door and it's Kim. He's on his way to Sarah's and tells Karl that Sarah has invited him over. He thanks Karl for the phonecall and Susan looks confused.

When Kim has gone, Susan asks Karl what he's playing at - they were supposed to being sensitive to Sarah's feelings.

SUSAN: Why? Why would you do that, Karl?

Darren and Libby come back from their picnic. Lou and Toadie are there. Toadie is very cold with Darren and Darren drags Libby out to the cinema.

Karl insists that he was not matchmaking Kim and Sarah, he was just worried about Sarah's study. Susan rabbits on and on and Karl tells her not to make so much out of it.

Coffee Shop
Paul and Hannah are hanging out when Toadie and Shannon come in. Toadie and Shannon sit at a table. He tells her that Darren Stark is bad news and she should forget about him. Shannon thinks there's something more - she can't stop thinking about him.

TOADIE: Shannon, Darren has a girlfriend. She is nuts about him and he feels the same way about her.
SHANNON: So why did he kiss me?
TOADIE: Cos he can't help himself. He's cheated on Libby before and now he's doing it again with you - you'll only get hurt.
SHANNON: Well, maybe he doesn't love her as much as everyone thinks.
TOADIE: Darren is a sleaze-bag! Please, don't do this one. OK?

Shannon doesn't look convinced.

Toadie's picture is on the front page of the Erinsborough News under a headline, "School Finds Unlikely Hero". Lou and Darren read the article and say that Toadie is a celebrity. Lou picks up on the tension between Toadie and Darren and asks what's going on. Darren says it's nothing.

Darren turns to the middle page and is horrified to see an article about the Uni Ball with a picture of him kissing Shannon! He drops the paper and rushes out. When he's gone, Toadie picks up the paper and rolls his eyes.

LOU: Oh, boy. That bloke is in one heap of trouble.

Susan and kim are leaving for Wangaretta when Darren comes around to see Libby.

DARREN: Can I talk to you for a minute?
LIBBY: Yeah, sure, what's up?
DARREN: Um...have you seen the paper today?
LIBBY: Mmm, the article turned out alright with Toadie eh?
DARREN: There's something I've got to tell you. I've got to be honest with you.
LIBBY: Yeah, go on.
DARREN: After we had that fight at the ball, I was feeling really down. And...I was tired and...something happened. There was a girl there named Shannon...
LIBBY: Don't. Please don't let this be what I think it is.
