Recap
- Hannah tells Philip she misses Helen and can't sleep in the house
Renovation house
Libby and Darren arrive at the house Darren is renovating and Libby thinks it's a bit spooky. Darren is going to knock a wall down to create one big room. He goes through to the kitchen and Libby looks around, accompanied by some tingly, ethereal background sounds.
Coffee Shop
Toadie tells Lance and Amy he'll be free from sitting in classrooms listening to teachers raving on in less than 180,000 seconds. Amy reminds him he still has his exams and Lance asks what if he fails and has to repeat. Toadie reminds him who he's talking to. His brain is finely tuned and his master plan for muck up day has been concocted.
Number 26
Philip asks Hannah what happens at night; does she have nightmares? Crying, Hannah says sometimes she does. Other times she just thinks and gets scared. Philip tells her there's nothing to be scared of around here; Helen would hate her to be feeling like this. Hannah says Helen isn't here any more. She bursts out that people don't just go like that. Philip tells her Helen had a wonderful life but everyone has to go some day.
Coffee Shop exterior
Toadie is teasing Lance and Amy with hints about his classy, high calibre stunts. Lance says so long as they don't cop it. Amy doubts he even has a plan. Lance isn't so sure, but at least Toadie is concentrating on that instead of playing tricks on him. Lance has spoken too soon... he puts his bicycle helmet on and gets covered in strawberry yogurt!
LANCE: YOU MANIAC!
TOADIE: What's your problem, mate? Yogurt's good for you!
LANCE: I'm gonna kill you!
AMY: You have to admit, it was pretty funny!
Number 26
Philip says he thought Hannah would be better prepared for this and Hannah asks if he means because of Julie dying.
HANNAH: Sometimes I have to go away and look at photos of Mum because I can't remember what she looked like and I can't remember what her voice sounded like.
Hannah says she will start to forget what Helen sounded like, and she doesn't want anyone else to go away. Debbie has gone and what if Philip dies too? She would end up an orphan, and that's what she thinks about at night. Philip hugs Hannah and tells her he's not going anywhere for a long time. Hannah thinks she's jinxed as everyone she cares about goes away including Claire. Philip tells her she can talk to Claire on the internet and suggests they do something special for Claire's last night in Australia.
Renovation house
Darren is measuring walls and gets Libby to admit the place has character. She says it would be more exciting if they were renovating a place for themselves. Darren says that IS spooky; settling down and paying a mortgage. Libby teases him about having babies and then more babies and needing a bigger house with a bigger mortgage. Darren jokingly runs out of the room, saying he's too young, and we hear some more eerie sounds.
Number 32
Lance has washed the yogurt out of his hair but is still having a strop about Toadie. Amy is still finding it funny and defends Toadie as it's his last week of school and they will be doing the same next year. Lance suddenly notices the back of Amy's trousers and laughs... the old Vegemite on the bike seat trick (couldn't she feel it?). He sarcastically reminds her not to get mad at Toadie but Amy says stuff that; it's time to give him a taste of his own medicine.
Renovation house
Libby is outside having a drink when Darren comes out and asks her if she's got any exams tomorrow afternoon. Libby says yes but she'll study tonight and will be fine. Darren says he just needs to measure a bedroom and they'll call it a day. Libby follows him inside and pours herself some more coffee in the kitchen. There is noise coming from the ceiling and Libby calls Darren. Darren tells her she must be hearing things but Libby is insistent.
Number 26
Claire arrives, followed by Harold piled up with Claire's sleeping bag and pillows. Hannah says they do have pillows here but Harold says these are the pillows Claire is used to. He has suffered the trials and tribulations of strange pillows!
Number 28
Karl, Libby and Darren are eating and Darren says they checked the whole house but Libby is sure she heard something. Karl is sure there's a rational explanation for it. Toadie is in the kitchen making "chocolate crackles" for muck up day. Toadie quickly throws something in a drawer but Karl notices and gets it out. It's chili powder. Toadie denies he's put it in the chocolate crackles but Karl insists he eat one to prove it. Toadie takes a bite.
KARL: Is it nice? Chocolate's lovely isn't it? So creamy and smooth and moreish. Would you like some more? You're breaking out into a bit of a sweat there. Is it too hot in the kitchen for you?
Karl shoves another bite in Toadie's mouth. He says as a doctor he would counsel against eating too much chocolate so he will go and throw these in the bin now. Toadie rushes to the sink.
Number 26
Hannah and Claire look bored and Philip is yawning as Harold is wittering on about Aboriginal wooden neck pillows. Philip says all this talk of pillows is making him tired; it's past his bed time. Harold looks at his watch and is surprised Madge hasn't sent out a search party. Claire says perhaps there was one but he was so busy talking he didn't notice! Harold calls her cheeky and jokes that they'll be glad to see the back on her. On the doorstep, Harold admits to Philip that they'll be very sad to see Claire go.
The moon is bright above Ramsay Street. Claire and Hannah are in their sleeping bags laughing at the TV while the sound of snoring comes from Philip's bedroom. Hannah asks Claire if she ever got scared after her grandmother died. Claire says she thought she was haunting her; she could hear her and feel her looking at her. Hannah says she doesn't mean ghosts... more scared about the rest of her family dying. Claire believes they have angels to look after them and that Helen is watching them right now.
CLAIRE: You know what she says? We are naughty girls.
HANNAH: Gran would say that. But she still wouldn't tell Dad!
Claire tells Hannah that Helen says she loves her more than anything in this world and won't let anything bad happen to her.
Erinsborough High
TOADIE: Amy Greenwood! Now, what's this I hear about you liking Vegemite on your buns?!
Amy tells Toadie he thinks he's so clever. Lance tells him he's not because they've heard all about his master plan and read his notes. Toadie says he hasn't told anyone or made any notes. He finds a letter in his locker from Cara saying she wants him to know how she feels about him. Toadie tells Amy and Lance he's not falling for this but Amy insists it's nothing to do with them.
Renovation house
Libby is reading study notes and Darren asks if she wants him to test her on anything but Libby says he can't really. Darren says this room is pretty cold and asks Libby if she thinks there's a ghost. Libby tells him not to be stupid. Darren teases her about vampires or vampire bats and they have a little play fight. Libby hears the noise in the roof again and shushes Darren. Darren says he'll get a ladder.
Erinsborough High
Toadie has received another note inviting him to meet Cara behind the caretaker's shed. He asks Amy if she doesn't know when to quit but Amy protests her innocence again. Toadie says if it's that important for Lance to pay him back he'll just have to go and see what the amateur has in store for him. Toadie walks out the door and Lance appears and tells Amy he's done it. Amy tells Lance that Toadie got another letter. She thinks he's about to make a big idiot of himself without any help from them.
Toadie approaches Cara on a bench outside (apparently not behind the caretaker's shed!) and she asks him if he got her letters. Toadie says yes but she can drop the act; he knows she and Lance cooked this up. Cara looks confused and asks what Lance has got to do with it. Toadie says he bets Lance and Amy are around here somewhere watching. He turns around and sees them hiding behind a corner of the building.
CARA: Look, I don't know what they're doing here but all I want to know is will you go out with me or not?
TOADIE: Cara, the joke didn't work. Get over it!
CARA: I can't believe you're saying this. I hate you! Don't ever speak to me again!
Cara runs off and Lance and Amy come over. Lance tells Toadie that Cara had nothing to do with them. They show him their prank; his school bag is hanging from a basketball backboard. Toadie realises Cara really did want to go out with him and he's blown it.
Number 24
Philip is going to help Harold to load up the car and tells Hannah she's got five minutes before she has to get back to school. Hannah tells Claire she's going to really miss her and it won't be any fun around here. Claire says she's taught her to make her own fun and tells her to save all her jukebox money to come and visit her. Hannah says it might take a while but Claire says it will be worth it; they can have lots of naughty fun in France!
Renovation house
Darren is worrying about Libby being late for her exam as he climbs up into the attic with a torch. He tells Libby it's just a couple of possums. Libby says he'd better bring them down. Darren reaches out but the step ladder slips from under him and he falls to the floor.
