Newsagent
Phil is on a diet and eating a carrot. Marlene thinks that chubby people are happy people! Phil says that he either loses a few kilos, or buys a whole new wardrobe - he figures that dieting is the cheaper option!
Phil tells Marlene about Angie's excuse for Shane over the burglaries. Marlene says that only a mother could love Shane! Marlene says that she's going to do something about neighbourhood security.
Martins
Helen is working on the Kennedy portrait. Hannah wants to join the rhythmic gymnastic club and asks Helen to put a word in for her with Phil.
Annalise comes round to tell Helen the bad news about her mole. She's very depressed. Helen offers to help her pack to go to the hospital. Annalise starts to cry and worries that she'll lose all her hair. Helen tries to comfort her.
Number 24
Sam is doing exercises on the couch, much to Marlene's displeasure! She shows Sam and Bianca some window locks that she's bought. Bianca says it's easy to get into a house - take a few tiles off the roof for example. Marlene starts to take notes!
Newsagent
Phil is doing exercises behind the counter(!) Libby thinks he look weird as he does his twists! Phil asks Libby how her romance is going - he overheard a group of kids talking about it! Libby isn't pleased to hear this, but Phil says she should be proud, there's a huge market out there for romance novels and shows her his stock. Phil says there's big bucks to be made - Libby could make a fortune if she applied herself!
Kennedys
Susan shows Annalise the costume for the play, but she is distracted. She tells Susan that her mole is malignant. Susan tells her not to worry to much, and especially not about the play, they'll get Helen to fill in for her. Susan tells her she's much more important than any play.
Coffee Shop
Phil orders a white coffee with skimmed milk and some "cracker biscuits that taste like cardboard"(!) The girl behind the counter warns him not to crash diet.
At a table, Phil sits down with Mark. Mark is fed up and asks Phil if he thinks he's dull. Phil says he doesn't think so at all (I do!) Mark is worried that joining the priesthood has made him boring. Phil says people don't know how to talk to priests socially, but they'll realise in time that Mark hasn't changed.
Martins
Helen is working on the Kennedy painting when Susan comes round. She quickly covers up the painting saying that she doesn't like people to see her work until it's complete(!) Susan and Helen chat about Annalise. Susan begs Helen to replace either Angie or Annalise - she's got a choice: a maniacal mud pie or a head-in-a-box! (What a choice!!) Helen says she's tired after her car ordeal and all her painting, but says she might manage the head-in-the-box. Susan is delighted and runs off to get the script.
Number 24
Bianca has been helping Marlene to spot weaknesses in the house security - apparently she had a roommate in the detention centre who was a top cat-burglar. Bianca taught her how to hot-wire a car in return! Marlene ropes Sam in to help fortify the house.
Newsagent
Phil is reading a romance novel to see what all the fuss is about. He says he can't put it down and reads Libby a few lines. Libby decides to take a book home for research! They laugh over the bad prose in the book!
Bric-a-brac Shop
Marlene and Bianca are sorting through some old clothes. Marlene says that some of the old silver stuff is all the rage now! She's going to try to sell it, but Bianca isn't convinced.
Newsagent
Libby and Phil are still laughing over the romance novel when Hannah comes in. She asks about the rhythmic gymnastics club, but Phil says no. He says she's already doing pony club and ballet - she hasn't got time for anything else. He finally relents though. Hannah is excited.
Bric-a-brac Shop
Phil comes in and looks longingly at Marlene and Bianca's lunch. Marlene teases him and says that he could eat food like that if he was burning off the calories. Marlene suggests that he tries a sauna suit(!) She shows him the silver clothes and claims if he wears them he'll shed pounds!
Lou and Cheryl's
Ren is looking after Lolly while Mark rants on about how people treat him differently now he has decided to be a priest. Ren tries to convince him that he's a fun guy. He says he's got noone to take to the Whitsundays - he'll have to give the tickets away. Ren says that as a priest he could give them to charity. Mark decides that God didn't want him to go to the Whitsundays and charity is a better idea.
Bric-a-brac Shop
Mark suggests a raffle to Marlene with the Whitsundays trip as the prize. Marlene says he should use the tickets himself but Mark is firm.
Martins
Hannah is waving her rhythmic gymnastic ribbon. Phil comes in wearing the silver suit(!) and says it's the latest thing in weight loss! Helen and Hannah laugh their heads off (and so do I!)
Number 24
Annalise is packed to go to hospital (she seems to be taking her entire wardrobe for an overnight stay). Sam offers to drive her there and Annalise starts to cry. She's worried that the cancer has spread, she doesn't want to die. Sam hugs her.
