Previously
- Helen tells Debbie she needs to have a decent breakfast, but Debbie has to go in early to see some teachers. She takes some toast with her but wants everyone to stop hassling her.
- Rick wins tickets for a tandem parachute jump as a prize.
- Hannah tells Julie that the doctor called with Debbie's test results. Apparently the doctor is working late, Julie plans to go over to speak to her.
- Elliot tells Annalise that he's interested in her poetry, but he's even more interested in her. He kisses her, and she pushes him away, just as Mark arrives and sees them.
Number 26
Debbie takes a plateful of food from the fridge when she hears the door closing. She panics and sneaks everything back into the fridge. Julie returns home. She tells Debbie she saw Dr Sung about Debbie's test results. Dr Sung thinks Debbie should see a specialist who treats eating disorders, she thinks Debbie is bulimic. Debbie denies having that, she isn't starving herself. Julie says bulimics over eat, but then throw up on purpose. Debbie asks if Julie has ever seen her do any of that. Julie says bulimics are usually experts at covering up. Debbie says there's nothing wrong with her. If she sees a specialist she'll be put in a clinic and will end up missing school. Julie says Debbie's health is more important. Debbie insists she doesn't have a problem, even if she did she'd be better off at home where they can check that she's eating properly.
Number 30
Mark questions Annalise on what happened with Elliot. She says she was trying to give him the brush off. Mark doesn't think it looked like that. She says Mark didn't give her the chance, now she'll have to tell Elliot again next week. She assures Mark that Elliot is just helping her with poetry, that's all. Mark wonders if she likes poetry more than she likes him. Annalise tells him not to be silly, and they kiss and hug.
Number 26
Julie tells Helen that she doesn't think Dr Sung should be accusing them of being a dysfunctional family. Helen says she was pointing out that as a general rule anorexics and bulimics come from troubled backgrounds. Julie comments that its things like controlling parents, or mothers who are a weak role model. Helen tells her she has nothing to reproach herself for. Julie wishes Debbie would see the specialist. Helen says this is a serious illness and she can't afford to take chances. Julie feels responsible. Helen tells her not to be too hard on herself. Julie plans to visit Cheryl in hospital, it won't be easy but it will be one less thing hanging over her head, then she'll be able to focus her energy on Debbie.
Number 30 Backyard
Dave and Annalise hang up washing, while discussing massage oils. Rick runs out looking for the sky diving tickets in his trousers. Annalise managed to rescue it before it went in the wash. Rick doesn't think he wants to do it, he says he's too young to die. He offers the tickets to Annalise, for $50 each. Annalise calls him a little rat, and tells him to do his own washing. Rick offers them to Dave for $30 each, but Dave isn't interested either.
Number 26
Julie serves Debbie pancakes as a special treat, with lots of maple syrup. Julie leaves to visit Cheryl, while Helen sits down with Debbie. Debbie offers Helen some of her breakfast, as there's too much. Helen tells Debbie that Julie is very worried about her, and tries to convince her to see a specialist. Debbie insists that she doesn't have bulimia and there's nothing wrong with her.
The Coffee Shop
Annalise comes in looking for some change. Mark apologises to Annalise, and invites her out for dinner tonight to make it up to her. Annalise is working on poetry tonight, with Elliot.
MARK: Right, that's it Annalise. I've asked you nicely, now I'm telling you to stay the hell away from him.
ANNALISE: What, that's it? No ultimatum? No 'you're going to bash him up' or 'give me the flick'?
MARK: Come on, you know I'd never do that.
ANNALISE: Yeah, well here's another ultimatum for you, alright? Don't ever boss me around like that again. Or I'll give you the flick.
Erinsborough Hospital
Julie has brought Cheryl a jar of fruit chutney as a peace offering.
JULIE: You can get pathology to run some tests on it, if you're worried.
Cheryl laughs, and tells Julie where the crackers are. Julie brings them out, and apologises for not coming sooner. Cheryl says if she were Julie she wouldn't have come at all, and asks if she's heard from the police. Julie hasn't, and wonders if they're waiting to see how Cheryl feels. Julie says there really was a spider in the car. Cheryl is prepared to accept that is true, and says she'll have a word to the police. She'll tell them she's satisfied it's an accident and hopefully that'll be the end of it. Julie is relieved. She hopes in the future that they can be better friends, good friends. Cheryl gives Julie an unhappy look.
Number 28
Rick is trying to sell Pam the skydiving tickets for $50, but she won't go for it. Cody isn't interested either. Rick admits he's a little scared of heights, Cody suggests the skydive would be good for him. Pam tells Rick to try some desensitisation techniques first before throwing himself out of any planes, it works for most vertigo sufferers. Rick says he doesn't have vertigo. Cody and Rick walk to school while discussing the desensitisation techniques.
Erinsborough High - Exterior
Brett and Danni are trying to convince Packo to join the band, but she doesn't want to be the one to replace Sassy. Danni says Sassy is a shocking singer, so it'll happen anyway. Packo doesn't want to be the one Sassy blames for it. They catch up with Debbie and ask how she's feeling. Packo says she still looks wasted. Debbie says there isn't a problem, and tells them to mind their own business.
The Waterhole
Rick is making a cocktail, but throws it away when Annalise asks about it to stop her from knowing what's in it. She apologises for claiming she made the frog slammer cocktail last week. She agrees to give him back frog slammer, and he'll give her this cocktail, called 'pot of gold.' Annalise copies the recipe from Rick.
Erinsborough High - Exterior
Brett and Cody want to help Debbie get professional help, but Cody doesn't think there's anything they can do if she doesn't admit she has a problem. Brett suggests they tell Debbie's parents about the food their found in her room. Cody doesn't want to dob her in, but Brett says people that get this thing can die.
The Coffee Shop
Mark is smelling some of the fruit chutney, and thinks something is missing from it. Dave says he's imagining it. Pam arrives. Mark offers her some chutney, Pam says Gaby has gone right off it. She says this batch wasn't nearly as good as the first batch that Dave made. Mark asks Dave again for the secret ingredient. Dave says he'll make the chutney from now on, and Mark agrees. Dave and Pam decide to go to the Waterhole to try out some of their cocktails.
Newsagents
Julie wonders why on earth Cody and Brett didn't tell her this before. They thought Julie knew about it after Debbie was in hospital, but they guess it's been going on for at least a couple of months based on how much food they found, and how long Debbie's been going on about her weight. Julie wonders why she never picked up on it, but they guess Debbie's been hiding it from her. Julie says it's difficult talking to Debbie when she'll say and do anything to stop her from learning the truth. Julie thanks them for letting her know. She says Debbie won't be getting away with this any longer.
The Waterhole
Rick tells Pam and Dave that the cocktails are on their way. Dave says 'pot of gold' sounds romantic. Pam agrees, they should be drinking them on a beach in the French Riviera. Annalise brings it over, and they take a sip of it. Pam and Dave take a sip and obviously look like they hate it. Annalise takes herself and then spits it out. Rick starts laughing, saying it must be 'fool's gold.'
Number 28
Packo, Brett, Danni and Cody are waiting for Stonefish to arrive to band practice, they guess Stonefish won't turn up now Sass has been dropped. Packo agrees to be in the band, but she doesn't seem happy about it. Pam comes back home and goes to the kitchen. Packo tells Danni that her mum has paid $300 for her dress for the ball, she reckons it's the only time she'll get her to dress like a lady. Danni says it's the same with her. Packo's confused as she thought Danni was only going with her brother. Brett covers that Cheryl thinks it's cute that they're going together. Cody says she'll just hire a dress, as it's only a stupid dance. As everyone goes out for band practice, Pam stops Cody and asks why she didn't talk to her about the dress. She thought Cody and Gaby would go shopping, and once upon a time Cody would have been thrilled with this ball.
PAM: Don't let what happened with Drew rob you of the chance to enjoy being young.
Number 28 Exterior
Danni takes Brett aside and tells him he can't keep it up, Packo will eventually realise that he doesn't have a date. He tells her to keep it quiet for a bit longer, just until he's asked Debbie, he's been waiting until she's in a good mood. Debbie comes over and asks to talk to Brett and Cody. Cody throws Packo the keys to the garage and tells them to start.
Number 28
Debbie lays into Brett and Cody, about how Julie is counting every mouthful she eats, and follows her to the toilet. She's only allowed here on the condition that she's back in 10 minutes. Debbie is furious with them, asking how they could do this to her. Cody just wanted to point out that she has a problem. Brett says they saw the food in her room and read up on bulimia. Cody and Brett try to convince her to see a specialist, and tells her they're only trying to help, they're still her friends. Debbie doesn't want friends she can't trust!
Number 30
Mark is flicking through the TV channels. He falls asleep and later wakes up with Annalise beside him. Annalise tells him they should go to bed. Mark expects an excuse. Annalise says she spoke with Elliott and then they worked on their poetry. Mark says not even Elliot would sit around yapping about her poetry til 4 in the morning. Annalise is insulted. Mark says he's going to bed, in Rick's room.
MARK: And tomorrow we're going to make some decisions.
ANNALISE: What about?
MARK: This relationship Annalise. It's a farce.
ANNALISE: You really believe I'd two- time you?
MARK: What else can I believe, huh?
Annalise shows him the poetry she's written, what she and Elliot have been working on. She apologises it took so long, but she wanted it to be special. Annalise walks off.
Ramsay Street
Dave is sitting on the grass, meditating. Cody and Rick go over to a tree, with a ladder leaning on it. She tells Rick to climb the tree, he can't be a wimp all his life. Rick goes up to the tree branch, and realises how it isn't that bad, just before he falls off the ladder landing on the ground. Cody and Rick laugh about it. They kiss. Dave sees them and smiles.
Meanwhile Debbie leaves her house and sees Brett waiting for her.
DEBBIE: Is mum paying you for this?
BRETT: Debbie.
DEBBIE: You know, I'm amazed she didn't insist on handcuffs. Are you going to follow me all day?
BRETT: Look, you can't keep going on like this.
DEBBIE: Going on like what?
BRETT: Refusing to admit you've got bulimia.
DEBBIE: Brett, you're talking rubbish.
BRETT: Look, you can fight it. It's not hard and we'll all be here to help. If you keep this up, you're going to kill yourself. Is that what you want?
