Previously
- Lou tells Doug they should move the home brew as that MacKenzie bloke said. Doug says that MacKenzie bloke is barely out of high school. Lou says he's still Doug's boss.
- Sally breaks up with Rick. Rick is heartbroken.
- Cheryl thinks she's been poisoned.
- Mark won't come with Annalise. She kisses him goodbye.
Number 24 - Bedroom
Pam and Lou are fussing over Cheryl, who's recovering from some food poisoning. Pam tells Cheryl to go for blood tests, just to be cautious, but says the baby should be fine. Brett comes in and wonders what is going on. Lou asks Pam to tell Doug he can't come in this morning, as he'll be staying with Cheryl. Cheryl says she'll be alright. Brett offers to stay with Cheryl, and Pam will drop in at lunch time. Brett jumps into bed with Cheryl and asks what she's been eating.
Newsagents
Phil calls Vikram asking him to come into the newsagents. Apparently all of Phil's family have some tummy bug. Gaby overhears and tells Phil that Cheryl called in sick with food poisoning. They think it must have been the luau. Gaby worries that they've poisoned everyone, what if someone dies?
Storage Unit
Doug and Lou arrive and are about to open the unit when they hear Andrew approaching. He has the Mayor of Erinsborough, Khan Ozturk, and some members of the council around for a tour. They ask to have a look inside but Lou talks them out of it, saying there's nothing in there but tools and junk. Andrew, suspicious, asks if they're sure about that. Doug says absolutely.
Lassiters Office
Gaby introduces Mark to Heidi Becker from the Health Department. Mark says he's as concerned as she is about the reports of food poisoning. She asks him to fill in a questionnaire about food hygiene and they'll test some of the leftovers. Mark is affronted and says he has very high hygiene standards. Mark thinks they must have been sold dodgy produce, and angrily says the suppliers should be getting the third degree instead of him. Gaby says Heidi will get their full cooperation. Mark leads her to the kitchen.
Number 30
Brett arrives to find Rick looking down with his head in his hands, and assumes he has food poisoning too. Rick says he isn't, but tells Brett about breaking up with Sally. Brett laughs, as he thought Rick was crook. After Rick gives Brett an angry, Brett realises how that sounded, and clarifies that he's glad Rick isn't sick and he's sorry to hear about Sally. Brett says it might help to talk about it. Rick tells Brett to go away and leave him alone.
Storage Unit
Lou and Doug compare their brewed beers, Lou is worried about the sediment at the bottom of the glass. They take a sip and say this stuff is amazing. Andrew overhears them laughing and rushes in, catching them.
Number 30
Mark complains to Rick about being guilty until proven innocent. Mark says he shouldn't have let Annalise go and visit his parents, that's what started this in the first place and got him all angry. Rick says at least Annalise is coming back. Mark says Sally probably didn't mean to hurt Rick. Rick vents, Sally said she loved him, now she's found a new bloke.
Mark gets a call from Gaby, apparently he needs to speak to the woman from the Health Department again.
Storage Unit
Andrew berates Doug for drinking on the job, he's lucky the mayor didn't see him and fire him on the spot. Lou hopes they can sort something out between themselves, he's sure Andrew would appreciate a drop of beer himself. Andrew says after work usually. He wants it off the premises by tomorrow morning. Andrew leaves.
Lou says he nearly had Andrew there, he could hear his taste buds tingling, if only he tasted a drop. Doug says all Andrew drinks is herbal tea, scoffs it by the thermosful. Lou smiles, having had an idea.
Cut to outside the unit, Lou has taken Andrew's thermos from his car. He pours out the tea and replaces it with his home brew.
LOU: One sip of this, and he'll want to turn the place into a beer garden.
Lou leaves Doug to go check on Cheryl.
Number 24 - Bedroom
Gaby tells Cheryl there have been 17 reported case. Cheryl thinks this will be disastrous for business, especially if it makes the press. Gaby says the Health Department found traces of salmonella in the ham steaks. Mark told them that he got the steaks from the coffee shop, and they get all their supplies from Bert. Mark thinks he's to blame for supplying meat that's past it's prime. Cheryl thinks Mark has been arguing with Bert for weeks, his opinion has probably been coloured by all the fighting. Cheryl thinks they should find out what Annalise has to say before they call Bert.
Lassiters Office
Heidi Becker tells Mark there are penalties for obstructing a department investigation. Gaby says she's spoken to Annalise, and she tried to warn him about the meat being off. Mark says he's been working with food longer than Annalise and he thought it was okay. Heidi says it wasn't. Mark tells them to ask Bert about it. Bert says Annalise told him that the meat smelled funny, he told her not to use it and called the manufacturer who said the whole batch was dodgy. He didn't call Annalise back because he needed to warn other customers first, as Annalise had already said she wasn't going to use it. Heidi tells Mark that he was highly negligent to ignore the warning. Mark is angry that none of them want to hear what he has to say, and tells them 'stuff the lot of you!'
Number 30
Lou visits Rick, having heard from Brett that he's a bit low. He says they've all been through it, he tells Rick it will pass and he'll get over it. Rick says he won't and he's sick of everyone telling him it's no big deal. Everything important in his life is gone. He just wants to be left alone. Lou tells him to go out and about and take his mind off things. Rick tells Lou to lock the door on his way out.
Number 24 - Bedroom
Brett is putting a duvet over Cheryl and making a mess of the newspaper she was reading. Pam stops by with some chicken soup, but Cheryl doesn't want it. Brett insists and goes to heat it up. Cheryl tells Pam that Brett is now getting his own back after she nursed him through measles, flu and chicken pox. Pam says she's just being a bad patient. Cheryl says it's very annoying being stuck here, she could strangle Mark Gottlieb.
CHERYL: Those theme nights could have been a major attraction. As it is, we'll probably only attract a few alcoholics to happy hour!
Pam is sure it wouldn't have been incompetence on Mark's part, probably just bad luck. Cheryl says Mark's attitude has been appalling lately. If he doesn't lift his game, there's going to be trouble.
The Waterhole
Bert follows Mark into the bar, Mark tells Bert to shove off. Bert wants this sorted out, they've both said some silly things the last few days and now they're both in trouble. Mark says his job is on the line. Bert thinks he'll just get a telling off. Bert says they used to be good mates, he doesn't want one unfortunate incident to spoil that. He's prepared to forget the whole thing; he offers to shake Mark's hand.
MARK: One unfortunate incident?! What about last week Bert, the beef was disgusting!
BERT: I don't know what your problem is.
MARK: My problem is your contaminated meat, how many people do you need to poison before you get the message?
BERT: Right, that's it! I told you I'd talk to my lawyer, now I'm doing it. I'll take you down Gottlieb! Count on it!
Lassiters Office
Gaby is getting more phone calls about the food poisoning. Kris arrives. He tells her that there's a photographic shoot, everyone's there except the 'Face of Lassiters.' Gaby picks up her phone to call Rick.
KRIS: There's no point in calling. I've already tried that and he told me to do something anatomically impossible.
Gaby asks if they can reschedule, but they've already paid for the photographer, art director and props. Gaby asks Kris to come with her to Rick's, it'll take the both of them to convince him to smile for the camera.
Number 30
Rick is looking at photographs of Sally, wiping away a tear. Gaby knocks on the door, asking him to open up. Rick answers and asks if Gaby's seen Sally, he just wants to know how she is. Gaby says they're here about the photoshoot. He tells them to find someone else. Kris says it's too late for that, they'd have to redo everything. Kris says if they cancel he'd let a lot of people down. Gaby says she wouldn't be here now if she didn't think it was the right thing for him to do. She says if he really can't face it, they'll cancel everything. Rick sighs and agrees to go, just give him a minute.
Storage Unit - Exterior
The Mayor is very happy with the development. Andrew grabs his thermos and asks if the mayor would like some tea, but he declines. Andrew takes a sip from his thermos, and the mayor can see from Andrew's reaction that something is wrong. Andrew says no, it's just a little stronger than he usually makes it. Andrew gives Doug an angry look.
The Waterhole
Rick poses for some photos, while Kris and Gaby fuss over him. Rick looks miserable in every photo.
Storage Unit - Exterior
Andrew marches over to Doug and says he has one question for Doug and he wants a straight answer. Doug starts to apologise, when Andrew interrupts to ask how he came up with such a fantastic brew. He says it's great stuff. Andrew says they can keep the gear in the shed, but they'll have to move it when they open up to the public. Lou arrives, and Doug fills him in on Macca liking the home brew.
Andrew asks if they've seen Rick Alessi around. He's supposed to be clearing the weeds from the around the house as part of his community service order. Lou says he's at the Waterhole doing some modelling. Andrew says he'll be modelling for mugshots if his probation officer finds out. Andrew goes off to the Waterhole. Lou feels bad for poor Rick.
The Waterhole
The photographer asks Rick to smile, and takes some final pictures, which he says are sexy and brooding. Kris thanks Rick. Gaby offers him some drinks, but Rick just wants to go home. Andrew marches in, demanding an explanation. Rick's meant to do 10 hours of community service at the house, but he hasn't been near the place. Andrew says he could report Rick for disobeying the court order. Rick says he has other things on his mind. Andrew can imagine, partying all night with his girlfriend... Rick grabs Andrew by the collar and slams him against the bar.
RICK: If you want to report me, go ahead. Because I couldn't give a damn, okay! Just get off my back!
