Harold is run off his feet with one customer(!)
Scott comes in to say he is working late with Madeleine, so won't be home for dinner. They chat about the situation with Paul and Gail.
Jane comes in and she tells Scott that she's dismissed Gloria. She looks uneasy at her decision. She tells Harold that Gloria has been stealing and he is incensed. Jane is worried if she has done the right thing or not, but Harold says she has.
Mike is being non-communicative while Des tells him about his swimming lessons. Des tells Mike that they used to communicate, but Mike says he's not interested in his conversation about swimming. Mike asks Des agin for the Trust Fund money. Des says he can have it as long as he tells him why he wants it.
Jane is working hard when Joe comes in. Jane is pretty streesed out and says she'll have to work late tonight.
Joe has got some videos. He tells Jane about Hilary's challenge to get over his flying phobia. So he's borrowed loads of aircraft crash movies - his theory is that the actors always survive, so he'll be fine once he's watched them(!)
Scott is doubtful about his and Madeleine's chances of overturning the case. Madeleine says that he needs more stamina!
Jim joins them and they chat about Eric Conrad - apparently he had a rock-solid alibi. Madeleine insists Eric Conrad is guilty and they'll find out the truth. She tells Scott to ring him to arrange a meeting.
The Coffee Shop
Jane chats to Harold and he mentions he's taking some Coffee Shop leftovers home for dinner. Jane asks if taking home half a quiche isn't the same as what Gloria did. Harold says the two cases are different but Jane says it isn't really.
Outside the Waterhole
Madeleine and Scott are waiting for Eric Conrad to turn up. Madeleine is very blinkered in her view that Conrad is guilty.
Eric Conrad arrives at that moment and Scott shakes his hand. He tells Madeleine that she's better not print any lies about him in her book - he had nothing to do with the case, he'd left Lorraine months before the case happened. Madeleine turns into a raving banshee and shouts at Eric that he doesn't fool her - he's a murdered and she'll expose him for what he is. Eric Conrad tells her to watch her step because murderers kill people(!)
Mike is on the phone to his mate - he wants to sell his bike. Des is surprised but Mike says he needs the money because Des won't give him the money from the Trust Fund. Des tells him to stop being secretive. He tells Mike off for being so unpleasant. Mike storms out.
Scott and Madeleine are telling Jim what happened with Eric Conrad. Madeleine says she's very frightened and suggests going to the police. But Jim says they have nothing to pin on Conrad. Madeleine doesn't want to go back to the hotel room alone, so Jim says she can stay with them.
Mike is tossing and turning in his sleep. We see flashbacks to Mike and a girl riding his bike. The girl falls off and is left lying in pain on the road. Mike wakes with a start.
Des is comforting Mike after his nightmare. Mike doesn't want to talk about the details however. Mike sips his tea and looks upset. He doesn't want to talk though and asks Des not to push him.
Jane and Joe are watching an aircraft crash movie. Joe is hiding behind the sofa(!) Joe says now he has a fear of videos as well as a fear of flying(!) He is terrified but Jane is quite enjoying herself! He goes off to get a beer to avoid the crash scene, so Jane puts the video on pause so he won't miss anything(!)
Harold comes round to see Des. He looks very upset and says he has sinned against Des. He gives Des an envelope to "make amends". He admits to Des that he's been taking home leftovers from the Coffee Shop and eating them and Jane has helped him see the error of his ways. Des tries to keep a straight face. He says he's not bothered at all but Harold insists that Des accepts the envelope.
Madeleine comes out of her room in a sexy nightie. Jim has apparently given up his bed for her and is fast asleep on the sofa. As Madeleine stands over him, she ruffles her hair and then shakes Jim awake. She says she's heard noises in the street and is terrified that it's Conrad(!) She sits down with Jim and asks him to put his arm around her. She says she feels safe with him. Jim looks quite bemused!
