The Coffee Shop
Bronwyn sees Hilary sitting at a table and says she's glad that she got her ring back. Hilary makes some disparaging remarks about Henry and the damage he caused to Mrs Chubb's garden. Bronwyn tells her that she should be grateful that Henry got her ring back.
Des makes idle conversation with Hilary but she is deeply engrossed in her paperwork. However, in conversation it comes up that Des can't swim - he's terrified of water. Hilary says that Des must learn to swim immediately and she will teach him! Sharon says that they can use her aunt's pool! Des is speechless.
Paul comes in and says that Gail has gone. He says he's going after her on the 4pm flight. Jane looks a bit worried when Paul tells her that Jane is going to fill in for them! She's now Acting Manager!
Kerry is telling Joe about the baby competition incident between Harold and Des. Joe mentions that Mrs Mangel has invited him to England for a holiday, but he doesn't want to go. Kerry asks him if it's because he's scared of flying. Joe says yes - humans flying is against nature(!). Kerry says he's just a chicken!
Jane is a bit stressed out dealing with paperwork. Gloria comes in and to ask for the pub inventory. Jane says that there are a few things missing and Gloria says casually that it's probably what she took home as leftovers. Jane says this is not on. Gloria says she's not a thief and won't answer to a jumped-up secretary(!)
Scott is telling Mike and Bronwyn about his job with Madeleine. He also asks Mike about his tour but Mike is quite evasive on the subject. Mike snaps at him and goes off to his room.
Bronwyn tells Scott not to take Mike's words personally - he's like that with everyone. Scott says maybe she and Henry should get a place on their own when he gets back, but Bronwyn says neither of them want to leave Ramsay Street - their families are there. Scott says they may not have to - he might have got a solution.
Paul and Gail's
Paul is packing distractedly. Scott is suggesting that Henry and Bronwyn could housesit for him. Paul isn't sure about Henry(!) but he agrees. Bronwyn starts helping Paul to pack. Scott says he'll pick up Paul's forgotten diary from his office too.
Joe is listening to a horserace but Kerry turns off the radio. She tells Joe off and says that betting is a waste of money an horseracing is inhumane.
Sharon calls round to offer Joe a business proposition - she'd like Joe to let Mrs Chubb rent Mrs Mangel's furniture for 20 dollars a week. Joe would save on the storage costs too. Joe agrees.
Bronwyn is breaking the news to Des about she and Henry moving across the road. Des says he'll really miss Bronwyn. He's rather nervous about the swimming lesson ahead this afternoon.
Mike comes in and Des tells him about Henry and Bronwyn moving out. Mike asks Des if he can take some money out of his trust fund - he's got a debt he has to pay off. Des says Mike must tell him exactly what it's for because he's the trustee of the fund. Mike just slams his bedroom door behind him though.
Garden of Mrs Chubb's
Hilary is in a swimming costume and Des is looking terrified. She says they must overcome his fear and puts a lifejacket around his neck. Des reluctantly puts his legs in the water and then wades up to his waist. Hilary tells him they'll submerge totally to start and demonstrates. Then Des is made to do the same. He puts his head under the water and comes up spluttering.
Jane is telling Scott about the situation with Gloria and the fact that she thinks taking leftovers is a perk of the job. Scott says that Paul wouldn't put up with that and wishes Jane luck in handling the situation.
Garden of Mrs Chubbs's
Des is trying to kick his legs but he is as stiff as a board.
Joe comes round and mocks Des a bit.
Paul and Gail's
Scott comes back with Paul's diary. Paul says that Scott can drive it while he's away and Scott is chuffed to bits. Then Scott asks Paul seriously if he thinks he can get Gail back. Paul says he's going to give it his best shot.
Des and Hilary come round to see Joe. Des tells Joe off for mocking him and to tell him to keep his smart comments to himself. Hilary says that everyone has their fears and Kerry chimes in that Joe is afraid of flying! Joe reckons he could get over his fear and Hilary challenges him to put it to the test. Joe uneasily agrees.
Jane has called Gloria into the office to talk about the missing alcohol. Jane wants Gloria to reimburse the hotel but she still doesn't see it's necessary. But Jane says that it really is theft and she is in charge now. She has no choice but to sack Gloria.
