Des and Mike's
Des is complaining about the sitter being late while Mike tried to calm him down. The doorbell rings, it's the baby sitter, Bronwyn Davies the same woman who yelled at Des the previous episode, accusing him of being an unsatisfactory father. Des isn't happy that it's her who is from the sitting agency and he isn't going to let her look after Jamie. He starts to call the agency to hire another sitter but Mike manages to convince him to stick with Bronwyn as it'll take ages to get another sitter and they're late as it is. Bronwyn insists that she's not the wicked witch of the west which manages to convince Des enough to let her stay and look after Jamie.
Paul and Gail's
Gail is cooking some dinner as Paul comes in through the kitchen with some washing. Paul looks over a stressed Gail's shoulder to see what's cooking leading Gail to lose her concentration. She snaps at him saying that she'd be able to get things done quicker if he wasn't around her all the time. Paul asks Gail to sit down and reveal wants wrong. Gail apologizes and explains how Rob and Ian are becoming craftier than ever to get one up on each other. Paul wants Gail to 'lighten up' (He's kidding right?!) as Ian's going away tomorrow. Gail admits that she likes Ian but not all the stress that he's causing.
GAIL: Instead of being twice as happy as before, I'm twice as miserable.
Gail wants to give it one last try between herself, Ian and Rob by taking them all to lunch. Paul is hesitant over the idea as any more stress caused from their arguing could compromise the success of the IVF treatment. Paul stresses that they'll have to deal with him if they upset Gail. Gail comments on how impressed she is with Paul being 'masterful'.
Des and Mike's
Des arrives home from his business dinner to find Bronwyn and Jamie asleep on the couch together.
A few minutes later Bronwyn is making some tea or coffee for them both while yawning and commenting on how easy going Jamie is. Des apologizes for being late it was his boss that kept him. He wants Des to go on a banking course. Des explains that he isn't sure he wants to go on the course as it means time away from Jamie. Bronwyn apologizes for yelling at Des the other day, she says that she came to the wrong conclusion and she can see now how much he cares about Jamie. Des offers to give Bronwyn a lift home. Bronwyn searches for the combination lock to the hostel in her bag but can't find it so Des suggests that she use his mother's bed to sleep in. Bronwyn doesn't want to put anyone out but Des insists that it'll be fine.
Ramsay Street
Jane is fitting together the pieces of the newspaper that's scattered along the lawn. Gail comes along, yawning, which makes Jane yawn as well. Jane comments on the dinner she went to last night along with the apprentice chief, although no one was very talkative which led to Jane not having a very good time. Gail is glad that Jane is going out with people her own age but Jane knows that Gail is just happy that she's not hanging around with Des anymore. Gail just doesn't want Jane to be unhappy. Jane says she's not she just realizes hat Des needs time and she needs to be patient.
Des and Mike's
Bronwyn is feeding Jamie while shouting for Des to come and eat his breakfast. Mike sneeks in and comments on how quick Bronwyn made the first move. Bronwyn explains what happened last night with Des offering her a bed because she was locked out of her hostel. She says how kind Des was last night though. Des comes out into the kitchen and starts eating his breakfast, saying how he hasn't had anything this good since his Mum was here. Bronwyn explains to Des that she comes from the country and all her family are farmers. Des asks if it's a good life but Bronwyn says that it's hard, although she had some help with farming from her sister, Shaz. Des asks if her Mother has her hands full with being a farmer and Mother but Bronwyn lets him now that her mother died four years ago.
Paul and Gail's
Gail is making preparations for lunch while Ian complains, saying that he doesn't see the point of it. Gail asks Ian not to do or say anything that might cause an argument. Ian wonders how Gail came out so good with a father like Rob bringing her up. He says that only wants to spend time with the family, not Rob. Gail says that Rob is a part of the family and Ian had better start accepting him as part of it. There's a knock at the door, it's Rob. Before going into the kitchen, Paul warns Rob not to start any trouble with Ian, for Gail sake. Rob agrees and walks into the kitchen to greet Gail. Gail wants Rob and Ian to shake hands to greet each other, something they both reluctantly agree to.
Des and Mike's
After getting off the phone to the hostel, Bronwyn lets everyone know how dumb she's been. Apparently, if she'd just knocked on the hostel door they would have let her in. Mike tells her not to worry as the breakfast she make more than payed for her keep. Des offers to take her home but Bronwyn insists that he don't as she feels guilty enough as it is. Jane walks in through the door, wanting to take Jamie to the zoo. Des introduces Jane and Bronwyn while he goes over to get her cheque. Bronwyn is hesitant to accept any money after staying the night but Des says he knows that she'll need it for something. A brainwave suddenly hits Des, he knows something that might solve Bronwyn's problems, something that Jane can help with as well.
Paul and Gail's
Paul, Gail, Ian and Rob are having a civilized lunch together talking about wine and car races. Ian asks if Gail's education ever suffered because of all the traveling around the country. Gail says that it was lovely, and no, her education never suffered because of it. An angry Rob stands up, yelling, saying that nothing was ever more important than Gail's welfare and the fact she never missed out on anything. Rob tells Ian that he shouldn't just expect to waltz into her life and control everything. An upset Gail, runs away from the table and into the living room. Paul, still at the table, moans to Ian and Rob that he and Gail both wished that they'd all get along. He says that Gail is miserable at the moment and the two of them are just making it worse so Paul won't allow any more arguments. Paul goes over to Gaul and ushers her back into the kitchen telling her to keep her 'chin up'. Ian and Rob both apologize to Gail for moaning. Gail thinks that she's incredibly lucky to have the both of them in her life. They're both special to her, it's just a shame they don't get along. Paul wants to leave to take Ian to the airport now so Ian says he's goodbyes to Gail, asking her to take good care of herself. They both tell say how much they love each other before Ian turns to Rob, saying that he's glad they both met.
Ramsay Street
Bronwyn is asking Jane whether she thinks Mrs. Mangel will let her lodge at their house. Bronwyn is thankful that Des suggested it in the first place. Jane says that Des is a really caring person, in fact most of the neighborhood is friendly. They approach Mrs. Mangel who has just come from church. Bouncer sees Mrs. Mangel and so goes over to greet her as well. Bronwyn mistakes Bouncers greeting as an attack and so tells Bouncer off. Mrs. Mangel isn't pleased that Bronwyn has treated Bouncer this way as Bouncer clearly has some manners. Bronwyn insists that she can see that now. Jane asks if Bronwyn could lodge at the house but Mrs. Mangel wants to get to know her first.
Paul and Gail's
Rob is admitting that he's acted like a silly old fool it's just that he was worried that because of Ian's money and posh manners he'd start taking over Gail's life. Gail says that there's no chance that's going to happen. He's happy knowing Ian and loves them all equally. Gail says she's relived that everything has been settled and goes to give Ian a kiss.
Des and Mike's
Des is trying to convince a reluctant Mike that they should allow Bronwyn to house sit as well as baby sit so that he's be able to go on his band course. A happy Bronwyn comes in and announces that she's moving in with Mrs. Mangel. She's looking forward to moving in with another girl, so that they can talk. She's quick to point out that she won't get in the way of Des and Jane's relationship, as its clear how taken Jane is with Des. Shock, shock! There is no relationship!
