Recap
Jane and Mike tell Jim they think Scott might have drowned.
At the Ramsays
Kylie is back from her first stab at being Kylie Minogue popstar so we finally get to see inside the Ramsay house again. Helen is visiting with a bag of peaches and asking how she's enjoying running her own house. Charlene tells her she loves it, doesn't even mind coming home and cooking after a long hard day at work while Scott plays at the beach. Helen tells her she's been working hard too, trying to set up Frank Darcy's exhibition. Charlene pries further and asks if it's just Mr Darcy's paintings Helen is interested in... Helen laughs and says they're just good friends. Madge comes to spoil the party with the news that Scott's missing.
At the Clarkes
Eileen has made a lovely candlelit dinner for her and Malcolm. He asks if they're expecting a power cut. He isn't much of a one for candlelit dinners. She explains that it isn't often she gets to entertain a gentleman and he charmingly replies "No, I don't reckon it would be". Instead of clocking him round the ear hole with the bottle of wine Eileen carries on telling him how lonely she is and asks doesn't he feel the same? He doesn't, he likes his own company, and is suspicious about her sudden change of heart.
At the Robinsons
It's Madge's turn to read the riot act to Jane and Mike about them letting Scott swim off. Charlene stops her and says Scott made up his own mind to go and if he reckoned he could make it to shore then he will. Jim isn't convinced and says he's off out to look for him, he could have been washed off course. Mike jumps up to go with him. Charlene says she'll wait at home, Scott's probably been trying to ring her (Ah, days before mobile phones!). Madge says she'll come with her, and she and Henry will move back in for tonight to keep her company. They leave and Helen says to Jim that Scott is a strong swimmer and wouldn't get into anything he didn't think he could handle - but she can see Jim disagrees. He tells her Scott's had time to do the swim ten times over.
At the Ramsays
Madge is filling Harold in on the current position. Which is no different to last night. Harold tries to cheer her up by saying at least they haven't heard any bad news and they sit at the breakfast table with Henry. Charlene comes out and calmly tells Madge she didn't sleep well, she's not used to sleeping by herself, before announcing that she's hungry and wandering off to get breakfast. Henry is concerned that she's acting like Scott's just gone away for the weekend when in reality Scott's been missing over 12 hours now. He points out that she'll have to face up to it sooner or later.
On a little beach somewhere
The camera pans in to Scott washed up in the shallows.
At the Ramsays
Madge rings Tony to let him know Charlene won't be in. She tells Charlene she's not going in to work either. Charlene is cross, she thinks it's bad enough that one of them has to waste a day waiting in. Madge tries to get her to look at her but she stubbornly turns away and says she knows he's alright and coming home - if he wasn't okay she'd feel it. The door opens and they both turn round quickly, but it's only Henry bringing in the mail. With perfect timing, Scott's exam results have arrived. Henry asks her if she's going to open it but she puts it on one side for Scott to open himself.
On the beach
Scott wakes up choking in the shallows and drags himself up the beach a bit before sitting up and looking round to see he's in a cove with two ways out - up some steep cliffs or back out to sea.
At the coffee shop
Tony has come in to buy breakfast and asks Sally out along the way. She says she can't because of Henry - he's worried enough about Scott at the moment. Tony warns her that he won't chase her forever and leaves. Malcolm arrives and overhears the end of the conversation. He tells her finding the hard way of doing things runs in the family. Sally asks if Eileen is giving him a hard time and he answers that it's worse than that - she's being nice to him!
At the Clarkes
Mike comes home from the search and says there's no news. Eileen tries to fuss him off to bed but he insists he's just home to pick a few things up and get back to searching. He feels guilty that Scott's missing at all. Malcolm comes in with good news, his leg's a lot better and he thinks he'll be able to go home. Eileen is a million miles away, thinking of Scott. Malcolm tells her not to worry, he'll be fine but she says he doesn't know what it's like - he wasn't there when Des was growing up. He agrees and says he missed out on a lot but he does know what Scott's family must be going through. He gives Eileen a hug.
At the beach
Funky music plays as Scott starts to climb a very steep cliff. After 12 hours at sea I think we all know how successful this is likely to be. Amazingly Scott makes it almost to the top before falling back down.
At the workshop
Tony is on the phone to his mum who is obviously giving him a hard time about something. Luckily he is interrupted by Sally who's come to tell him she's changed her mind about going on a date with him. He doesn't seem as keen now, looks like his mum's said something about this to him...
Outside the Ramsay House
Charlene is sitting outside waiting for Scott looking tiny. Madge comes out and gives her a hug.
At the Clarkes
Eileen is watching Charlene through the window, commenting on how she's always been such a little battler that she never realised before how small she is. Malcolm says that the rescue squad know what they're doing, they'll find Scott, but Eileen ponders that some women only love once (methinks she's no longer talking about Charlene...) Malcolm doesn't take the hint and tells her he's leaving after lunch, his leg's better. Eileen is shocked. She tells him he's been such a comfort while Scott's been missing. Malcolm reluctantly agrees to stay a few more days.
At the office
Mike tells Jane they're scaling back the search and Paul wants Jane to organise another helicopter (Just like that!). Mike says everyone is being so careful not to say it was his fault and Jane says he's doing a good enough job of that himself. Besides, she was on the boat too and she didn't stop him. Mike is unconvinced.
At the beach
Action man Scott is lying unconscious at the bottom of the cliff. Jim and a rescue man are wandering along the top with the rescue man saying it's highly unlikely he's drifted this far. Luckily Jim has eagle eyes and spots some feet sticking out from behind a bush miles down the cliff. "There he is!" He starts to climb down the cliff and rescue man has to pull him back before there's two Robinsons unconscious at the bottom of the cliff.
At the Ramsays
Henry is worrying about Charlene again who's staring blindly into the distance in the living room while Helen and Madge drink tea in the kitchen. Madge says she wishes there was something she could do, but she went to pieces when the exam results arrived. Helen thinks they should get Beverly to have a look at her but Madge has already called her. Just then the phone rings and Charlene springs into life. The others run over too and she tells them it's Jim, and Scott's alive. She drops the phone on the floor and walks away as Madge picks it up to get the full story. They excitedly listen to Jim on the phone then turn round just in time to see Charlene collapse onto the lino.
