At the Ramsays
Madge asks Charlene what she has been saying to Scott. Charlene explains that she just told him they were always arguing then kissing and making up. She doesn't want to end up that way with Scott. When Scott asked if he could stay she knew it was too soon. Madge hugs her and is upset that she'd never said anything before.
At the Robinsons
Scott beats himself up about coming on too strong. Helen comes in and asks what all the noise is. He explains what happened and feels dreadful at how he acted with Madge. She tells him Madge will understand. He decides he will go round first thing and apologise.
At the Ramsays
Scott apologises to Madge for the night before. She forgives him and tells him to put last night behind him and concentrate on his exams that day. He goes. Henry comes in and grabs the paper. He is excited to see his advert is in asking Malcolm Clarke to get in touch. Madge asks him if he'll give her a hand with the grocery shopping as he's not working that day. He feigns an injured leg. Madge - "Give me strength!". Phone goes and he dives over the couch to get it.
At the Clarkes
Harold points out his shares are already up 2 cents. Des says he might have a flutter himself. Harold carries on looking through the paper but the next page is missing. Sally comes in and says she took it, it was an advert for a shoe sale. Eileen goes out to put pies in the car and Sally explains to Des that the missing page was the advert for Malcolm Clarke to get in touch.
At the Ramsays
Henry is on the phone to yet another Malcolm Clarke. Charlene listens in then asks what's going on, who's Malcolm Clarke? Henry says he's never heard of him, then reminds her to read out the notice if she answers the phone.
CHARLENE: No way, not until you tell me what's going on.
Henry-: Oh Charlene...
CHARLENE: (Mimics) Oh Henry...
HENRY: Alright, if you must know, it's all part of the master plan .
CHARLENE: The master plan?
HENRY: Yep.
CHARLENE: Which is?
HENRY: Lips are sealed. (She grabs his arm and twists it behind his back)
CHARLENE: Tell me.
HENRY: (In pain) I can't, it's a secret!
CHARLENE: I can keep secrets...
HENRY: Alright! Sally and I are helping Des find his dad.
CHARLENE: (Lets go of his arm) Why didn't you just tell me in the first place?
They go into the kitchen and Charlene speculates that Des must want to let his dad know about Jamie. Henry tells her Scott was just there apologising to Madge and she says she's off to see if she can walk to school with him. So, Henry can do the dishes. He moans that he can't even hold a plate after what she just did to his arm. Madge comes in and says she thought it was his leg that was hurting?
In the street
Charlene and Scott chat. He apologises for pushing her into letting him stay. She answers that it wasn't easy saying no (!). She asks if she can come round and see him that weekend but he can't because he has to study. Amazingly, she understands.
At the Robinsons
Helen tells Madge Chrissy has gone home. Madge is relieved. She asks if Helen has heard about the argument last night and what caused it. Helen says Scott came on too strong, and Madge explains that's exactly what Fred used to do. She doesn't blame Charlene for viewing her marriage as an example of what not to do and is worried that she will be a lousy wife to Harold.
Outside the Clarkes
Harold is full of the joys of spring. Madge is not. She tells Harold he is waffling and she needs to talk to him about the wedding. She is not sure she can marry him.
At the coffee shop
Henry pretends to be besotted with Sally, much to Eileen's pleasure. She leaves the two love birds together and goes out. Sally asks how the ad's going. He tells her it's working well. Malcolm Clarke will call, he can feel it in his bones.
Outside the Clarkes
Madge explains she is worried she isn't capable of being a good wife. Harold is flabbergasted - You've already been a good wife, you ought to be an old hand at it! She reminds him she failed at her marriage, she doesn't want to fail again. He insists that was Fred's fault- he was a philanderer of the highest degree. He points out the differences between himself and Fred and promises her that there will be no similarities between their marriages. He asks her please not to back out on him now.
At the Robinsons
Scott tells Helen his exam went well that day. The doorbell goes and Helen goes to answer it, getting a dizzy spell on the way. She insists she's fine and lets Charlene in then makes herself scarce. Charlene and Scott talk briefly about the exam then Charlene says she's going. Scott asks her if she still wants to see him that weekend, he can spare a few hours, but she insists he stick with the studying. They say a touching goodbye at the door.
At the Clarkes
Harold's arm is out of plaster. He asks Des if he understands women - Madge is having second thoughts about the wedding. Des reassures him that all women have second thoughts, and third and fourth. He thinks that they should go away together, spend time alone. Harold is worried about people talking but Des assures him his future with Madge is more important. He goes off to give it some serious thought. Sally comes home and asks Des what is for dinner. He says they'll have to go for pizza. They talk about Malcolm and Des admits he would like to see him again.
At the Ramsays
Henry is struggling with the washing machine and shouts Madge over to help. The phone rings and Eileen answers it as Madge has her hands full. Oh no! It is Malcolm Clarke!
