At the Mangels
Scott comes round to pick up a folder he left earlier and is surprised to see Mike there. Mike tells him he is living there for a while because anything's better than Harold's snoring! Mrs Mangel chases Scott out. She wants a word with Mike - she can't believe he has stuck a poster of Jane the Lassiters Girl on his wall. It must be removed. Mike leaves to take it down and Jane asks Mrs Mangel why it's any different to her having a picture of Len by her bed. Mrs Mangel goes off at a tangent and worries that some sailor could have taken the poster of Jane out to sea with him (!). Jane points out that there would be hundreds of men on board and she'd be brightening up their dreary days. Mrs Mangel panics more until Jane reassures her that she was just teasing her antiquated ideas.
At the Clarkes
Des is worrying that Jamie will forget him. Eileen tactfully points out that Daphne should be taking care of her own family rather than a father who doesn't care tuppence for her! Daphne thanks her and says she knows she is leaving her family in very capable hands.
At the Mangels
Jane and Mike settle down to watch a video. Mrs Mangel joins them and suggests they all have an early night. Jane tells her they are about to watch a rock movie. Mrs Mangel sits between them and says she will watch it with them - it might get rid of some of her antiquated ideas!
Later
Mrs Mangel is snoring on the settee and Jane and Mike have moved to the floor. Jane says Mrs Mangel should be sacked from the chaperone society! Mike complains that she is watching every move he makes and he is feeling uncomfortable. Jane says she'll have a word with her, after all it's not as if they're going out. Mike fidgets and says he wants to talk to her about that. She is adamant she doesn't want to get involved at the moment. He sighs and says she's too busy being a career woman but she can only answer "maybe".
At the Clarkes
Daphne is packed and ready to go. Eileen pecks her head again about how busy Desmond will be. Daphne warns her not to try and organise the chef at the coffee shop, but thanks her again for the work she'll be putting in there. As she leaves she admits that she will miss her. Eileen closes the door and tearfully tells Harold what a good girl she is and how pleased she is that Des married her. She then ruins Harold's day by pointing out that now she won't have Jamie to fuss over there'll be plenty of time to take care of him!
At the Mangels
Jane is writing in her diary when Mike comes in. She tells him it isn't a proper diary, she just keeps reminders in it. Speaking of which, it is Charlene's 18th in a few days. Mike suggests that they throw her a party. She eagerly agrees. Mike says they should meet at lunch to talk about it. She says they can meet at the coffee shop as she's meeting Scott there. He points out that she's seeing a lot of Scott and she replies that she'll be seeing a lot more of him until he passes his exams.
At the coffee shop
Henry is sharing a cake with Sally. She tells him she has just finished training as a gym instructor but is in Erinsborough for a holiday. Henry thinks it's a bit of an odd place to come for a holiday - maybe he should keep her entertained? She says that's fine by her. Eileen arrives to help Mike run the coffee shop. She checks the menu for the day and runs into the kitchen, concerned at how much the ingredients cost that the assistant chef is using.
At Daphne's fathers
Daphne and her father take Jamie for a stroll. Alan tells Daphne he doesn't deserve how well she's looking after him and he wants her to know he appreciates it. She tells him she does have some good memories and asks him if he remembers giving her a music box. One of the most corny scenes in Neighbours history follows as he reminds her of how he came home and gave her the box and a cuddle, to the tinny accompaniment of music box music, ending with the two of them hugging telling the other how they love them.
At the bank
Des asks his teller to hold all his calls for the next few minutes and goes into his office. Sally asks if she can see him - she needs to open an account. She insists it is Des who opens it for her, even though she may have quite a wait.
At the coffee shop
Scott treats Jane to lunch as a thank you for her help. Mike asks if they can talk about Charlene's birthday and they tell Scott they are thinking of throwing her a party. Scott thinks it is a great idea. They are interrupted by Eileen complaining about the assistant chef. Mike has to go and keep the peace.
In the Clarkes back garden
Harold is trying to drink without being able to use his arms. Henry arrives and bends his ear about Sally - "she's just finished training as a gym instructor, she can check out my physical fitness anytime!". Harold tells him he'd better not let his mother hear him talking like that.
At the bank
Des tells Sally she could have let Larry open her account for her but she insists it's important to get to know your bank manager (It is? Never met mine). Des agrees (Better make an appointment!). Larry interrupts to say Des's mother is on the phone. He takes the call and is told that the assistant chef has walked out. Now Eileen can't cope with the outstanding work at the shop. He hangs up and explains to Sally what has happened. She suggests she take over as chef - she has just finished a catering course and has been working in restaurants for years. Des says that's an amazing co-incidence - isn't it just!
