Recap
Gail is promoted to assistant manager and Paul starts to worry about his own job.
At the hospital:
Killjoy Helen warns Jim that it'll be a long time before Lucy is back to her old self. They pause outside her hospital door as they hear peals of laughter ringing from inside. They go inside to find Rick telling Lucy jokes and playing games. Lucy introduces them all and Rick shuffles off to make room for the relatives to sit down. Jim asks what's wrong with Rick and Lucy reckons he's just faking it to get out of school.
At the coffee shop:
Gail asks Mike if he wants to earn extra money by taking pictures of the complex to go with her report. He agrees because he needs the money. He congratulates her and remarks "Bet you're glad you married the boss now aren't you." She is offended and won't listen to his protests that it was just a joke. Obviously hit a nerve.
At the hospital:
Helen and Jim are waiting outside Lucy's room while the nurses change Lucy's dressing. Rick comes along and entertains them with jokes. Beverly sends him back to his room and they praise him to her, saying Lucy needs a special friend. Jim hints that everyone needs a special friend from time to time but Bev doesn't bite.
At the coffee shop:
Daphne warns Mike that people will start believing his story about how Gail got promoted if he tells it too often. Their chat is interrupted by a man, looking for Mrs Clarke. He's a health inspector who's received a complaint about personal hygiene - Jamie!
Later:
The health inspector has finished his inspection and gives the coffee shop a clean bill of health. Daphne wants to know who dobbed her in but he'll only tell her it's "Mr Smith". She thinks it's Harold, then thinks it could be Des.
At the hospital:
Henry brings Lucy a scary clown doll. Rick comes in and Henry makes Lucy laugh by telling Rick he's her boyfriend. He winds her up by accusing her of two timing him with Rick, then leaves them alone with Henry Junior (the clown). Rick wishes that he had so many visitors, and such a nice family - if only for the presents!
In the Robinsons' garden:
Helen is drinking tea with Bev and tells her Jim will never be able to thank her enough for all she's done for Lucy, then bluntly asks if he's not the man for her? Bev answers that she'd never hurt Jim but there's unfinished business she needs to take care of first. Helen guesses it's the man from Adelaide and Beverly fills in a few blanks. She thought she was in love with a man called Stephen Armstrong, then found out he was married. Helen confides that she's been through the same thing herself. Beverly reminisces about Stephen and how confused she is now - she doesn't know if she wants him or Jim. Helen advises that shutting Jim out won't help either of them.
At Lassiter's:
Paul is furious about Henry's adverts in the Waterhole. He throws his poster into the pond then rages about Henry writing on his jacket - warning that if he tries anything else like this he'll be out on his ear.
In the coffee shop:
Henry goes to moan to Mike and Mike reasons that he must have had a row with Gail. Des comes into see Jamie and worries that he might not be warm enough. Daphne suggests he take his temperature to check, then asks if he's satisfied now? He tells her he's not - he's been thinking, it's a health risk to have a baby in a coffee shop. Oh oh. Finger of blame is now squarely pointed at Des.
At the hospital:
Gail is visiting Lucy and Rick comes back to see her again. Lucy tells Gail she wishes she could put on proper clothes and Gail correctly guesses she wants to impress Rick. She thinks she might be able to help and opens her bag to find her make up.
At the coffee shop:
Des has talked himself out of being the mystery complainant and is just getting back in Daph's good books when he spoils things by saying he agrees with whoever rang the health inspector. Jamie can stay for the rest of the day, but that's it. He leaves and Daphne stubbornly says she's not giving in. And she won't rest until she finds out who dobbed her in.
At the Robinsons:
Jim returns home from work and Helen asks if Beverly's been in touch. He asks why, and she tells him about Stephen Armstrong. She thinks Bev might want a heart to heart. He can't see things the same way - she's still in love with her old flame. Helen manages to persuade him to go over and see her.
At the office:
Gail tells Paul about her visit to Lucy and how she thinks she has a crush on Rick. He isn't listening - he grumps that he's too busy trying to stay one step ahead of her. They argue again about the report she's writing and she tries to clear the air by suggesting they work on the report together, but he won't listen. He thinks she'll nick his ideas. Getting paranoid he begins to regret marrying her at all - he thought he'd be the one wearing the trousers.
At Beverly's flat:
Jim turns up with a bunch of flowers but Beverly isn't pleased to see him. She's got a visitor - Stephen Armstrong.
