Ramsay Street
Paul walks out of #22 in a confused daze, trying to process Terese's extreme reaction to Glen almost throwing out his compendium (which he is clutching). Glen watches from the balcony of the house as Paul gets into his car.
Number 22
Glen tells Terese he won't be home for dinner, sighing when she won't answer him. Roxy makes herself and Terese a cuppa, wanting to know what all the fuss was about. Terese explains she found letters Paul wrote her in the compendium, which made her emotional. "Glen saw that and I'm pretty sure that he read them too," she adds.
ROXY: Aunty T, I have to ask: are you still in love with Paul?
TERESE: No.
ROXY: Then why did the letters get to you so much?
TERESE: They just reminded me of what was.
ROXY: Are you sure that it wasn't just simply regret?
TERESE: Roxy you know how much he hurt me.
ROXY: Of course I do, it's just we're worried. We want to make sure you're making the right decision selling and moving to River Bend.
TERESE: We?
ROXY: Paige has been questioning things too.
TERESE: No, Paul and I have both come to terms that we're going our separate ways.
ROXY: Okay, well if that's the case, why were you so hard on Glen?
Terese looks very 'deer caught in headlights' and doesn't answer.
Harold's Café
Mackenzie and Yashvi are in wedding prep mode. Mac says Mel has a very specific aesthetic she wants for the street party, which Yashvi has been trying to organise the centrepiece for. Mackenzie's just happy she's got Madame Zolga's tent under control. Before Mac leaves, Yashvi gives her a wedding present to hide (from her parents) so that Toadie doesn't snoop. Mac gets a bit emotional when she notices Shane and Dipi used the same wrapping paper for her own wedding gift. Yashvi apologises, saying she didn't know, but Mac smiles and pretends it's fine.
At another table, Chloe and Leo are chatting about their life dilemmas. Chloe's weighing up whether she should go to Adelaide or Sydney, while Leo's torn between Erinsborough and New York. Chloe asks which way Leo is leaning.
LEO: I hate the idea of everyone going without me. And Abi and Isla not growing up together. But I've put so much work into the vineyard.
CHLOE: Looks like I'm not the only one that needs to consider their options.
Lassiters Complex
Roxy and Kyle catch up with Shane, both of them surprised to learn how rich he is now. "Not everything has to be shared on the family grapevine," Shane chuckles. Roxy jokes that for the right price she'd be happy to name her baby Shane Ramsay II. They notice Paul sitting alone out the front of Lassiters, looking through his compendium. Shane asks if he wants to go somewhere with him tomorrow, but Paul says he's got too much on at the moment. Roxy can see how dejected Paul is, so while Kyle and Shane head off to the pub, she sits and chats with him.
ROXY: Sulking over love letters is not going to get you anywhere.
PAUL: So Terese did read them.
ROXY: Every word. She loves you, Paul.
PAUL: (startled) Did she say that?
ROXY: No but I can tell. You need to fight for her.
PAUL: Roxy is this some kind of cruel joke of yours?
ROXY: I am not the only one who thinks this. Paige is also on Team Praise.
PAUL: I don't get it. After everything I've done, you still want to see us together?
ROXY: (patting her pregnant belly) I'm thinking with my gut here. And this little guy is telling me it's not over between you two. So do something about it before it's too late.
The Waterhole
Glen is having a debrief with Kiri about his latest Terese drama. He feels like Terese didn't even consider his feelings when she sprung to Paul's defence. Kiri asks what the letters said, but Glen admits he barely looked at them. He was just so hurt about everything he wanted "the damn thing gone". Kiri advises him to have an honest conversation with Terese so they both know where they stand. Lucy joins them, letting them know Chris and Annie arrive from the US in the morning. She'd love to invite Glen to the family brunch but doesn't want him and Paul at loggerheads.
GLEN: I take it you heard about the compendium.
LUCY: What were you thinking?
GLEN: I'm just scared of losing Terese. Things haven't been right for weeks. Kiri knows. She helps Paul out at work and doesn't tell me, she tried to get Shane to change his mind about the partnership-
LUCY: Did I upset you when I told you that?
GLEN: No, it just confirmed what I already knew. Paul has a hold over Terese.
Speaking of, Terese appears and asks Glen if they can talk. Lucy says she'll go for a walk with Kiri and get to know her new niece better. Terese sits down next to Glen.
TERESE: I know if I apologise I'm just going to sound like a broken record.
GLEN: Actions speak louder than words.
TERESE: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have had a go at you.
GLEN: I just felt like you were choosing Paul over me.
TERESE: I didn't mean it. You've got to believe me. And look, Paul's moving to another country, we're moving on with our new life, this is just residue from the past. It'll be behind us soon, I promise.
Lassiters Hotel Penthouse
The next morning Paul, David, Aaron, Leo and Lucy happily greet Chris and Annie. Chris remarks on David and Aaron moving to NY, and how Annie's excited to have a few more cousins around.
PAUL: I hear that you're dating the sous chef at Mark's restaurant.
CHRIS: Tony. It's been nine months, three weeks and two days. Not that I'm counting.
PAUL: Well you've come a long way, Freckles, I'm just glad you're happy.
CHRIS: Yeah it's crazy how much my life has changed. Manhattan really agrees with me.
David and Aaron hope Chris will show them around when they get there, with Aaron particularly interested in discovering all the best gyms. While everyone's talking, Lucy follows Paul out onto the balcony after noticing how quiet he is.
LUCY: Is everything okay?
PAUL: Lucy, do you think Terese still loves me?
LUCY: I mean you treated her pretty badly in the past. It could be possible. Feelings just don't disappear. I think that you should talk to Terese one more time.
PAUL: No, plans are already in place. I couldn't throw a spanner in the works now. (Hesitantly) Could I?
They hear David tap his glass for a toast and go back inside to listen. David says it's a "real moment" having everyone together, and he's sure they'll have even more once they get to New York. "Chris and Annie, I can't wait to get to know you both better. This is going to be a great new start for our family," he smiles. He then says that Leo and Abi better come visit them often.
LEO: Yeah, nah.
AARON/DAVID: No?
LEO: No, we're not going to visit you guys... Because we're going to move over as well. Dad you get your wish, we're all coming to New York!
David is stoked and gives his brother a big hug, but Paul doesn't look as thrilled as he should be.
The 82
Kyle is having a coffee with Shane inside the tram and comments on how Karl's kept the place in pretty good condition. Shane asks if Karl rents it from Paul, and Kyle says that all the tenants on Power Road answer to him. Kyle gets a text from Levi and has to leave, but Shane has someone new to talk to when he sees Izzy walk past. He smiles and says he thought she left town because she never called to say thank you for the gift. "It takes more than a toy car to make me pick up the phone," Izzy smirks. Shane points out the real car he bought and Izzy pretends to be offended that he didn't take her advice the other day. He then invites her to have brunch with him.
Number 24
Chloe has the history book in front of her at the table, and family photos scattered around, while she tries to write down her entry.
CHLOE V/O: When I first moved here I had no idea how important this community would become. When I found out I had Huntington's, I wasn't alone.
Flashback scene of Chloe kissing Elly on the couch at #28.
CHLOE V/O: But with every venture into love comes potential heartache.
Flashback scene of Chloe telling Elly that in order to preserve their friendship, they need to break up.
Mackenzie walks in with Yashvi and asks where the wedding present has gone. Yashvi says she gave it to Levi to look after, but Mac says she didn't have to do that. "No matter where I go, or what I do, I'll always be reminded of Hendrix," Mackenzie states. "And I'm going to have to learn to live with that. They're both startled when Chloe slams the history book shut. She apologises for being dramatic - Freya asked her to write an entry for the book, but everything she jots down reminds her of Elly. "Maybe that's telling you something," Yashvi replies.
The 82
Shane tries to get Izzy to guess where his money came from. She is very surprised to learn it was crypto currency. Izzy asks what's next on his shopping list after the car, and is surprised anew to hear that he purchased Lassiters.
IZZY: I heard Paul was going to sell.
SHANE: You know him?
IZZY: (blasé) Doesn't everyone? What's your connection?
SHANE: We knew each other a hundred years ago. He's offering to sell this precinct as well but I'm not sure.
IZZY: Are you kidding? Snap it up, this place has huge potential. Paul never had the creative flair to realise it.
SHANE: But I do?
IZZY: (jokingly sizing him up) Hmm, nah. But that's what I'm here for!
SHANE: All right, show me.
The Waterhole
Terese says that Glen has barely said a word to her since last night, but Glen still isn't sure he can believe everything she promised him. They run into Lucy, Chris and Annie, and while Glen's introduced to them, Terese gives Chris a warm hug. Chris congratulates her on River Bend, and Terese smiles and says they're both excited, but Glen can only grimace in response. Lucy asks Chris to take a family photo of her, Annie, Glen and Terese. Paul just so happens to emerge from the office to witness the 'happy' family bonding moment. Roxy bails him up and wonders when he's going to make his move. "You're wrong," Paul says gruffly. "It's already too late." But of course he misses the despondent look Terese throws his way when he leaves.
Power Road
Izzy has scoped out the businesses on the street with Shane and gives her two cents on what he should do. Considering Robinson Heights is so close, she figures the residents need somewhere to spend their disposable cash. She suggests a row of new shops, a barber that doubles as a brewery and an escape room experience for the teens. Shane asks Izzy to tell him more while she takes his new car for a spin.
Number 22
Terese looks over her transfer of registration for River Bend and tells Roxy she's sending in the application that afternoon. She had the subject to financing clause waived because she knows her settlement is coming. "Once it goes in you know you can't take it back," Roxy warns, but Terese says she doesn't plan to backtrack. When Glen walks in with Kiri, Terese brightly exclaims that the River Bend contract is all signed and ready to go, but Glen doesn't give her an enthusiastic response. Sighing, Terese follows him into the lounge room to talk.
ROXY: I don't mean to stir the pot, but you know this isn't right don't you?
KIRI: I just want what's best for everyone.
The Waterhole Exterior
Roxy and Kyle are having a catch-up with Chris, Mackenzie, Yashvi and Chloe. Kyle says before things get too messy, he promised Levi he'd record Chris's entry for the history book. Mackenzie says they can give him privacy if he needs it, but Chris confidentially says he knows exactly what he's going to say.
CHRIS: My time on the street was learning to accept who I am, which wasn't easy. Especially when I started to fall for my best mate.
Flashback scene of teenage Chris confessing to Andrew Robinson that he has feelings for him. Back in the present, Chloe listens to Chris with a knowing smile.
CHRIS: Coming out can be scary at the best of times. But when my own family didn't support me, it was my friends and neighbours who did.
MACKENZIE: I know the feeling.
CHLOE: So do I. And I'm still living the best mate stuff.
ROXY: We're talking about Elly right?
YASHVI: The one and only.
CHLOE: She said she's ready to own her sexuality and be with me.
MACKENZIE: Hey, every relationship is a gamble. New or old, there's always a chance that you're going to get hurt.
ROXY: There's always a chance for happiness though. No matter how long it lasts.
YASHVI: Yeah it's worth the risk.
CHRIS: Look, I don't know all the details but if Elly says she's finally ready, believe her.
Lassiters Car Park
Izzy and Shane arrive back from their drive around the neighbourhood. "That was way too much fun," Izzy grins from the driver's seat.
SHANE: I've got to say, you certainly know how to handle Bouncer.
IZZY: That is a terrible name!
SHANE: (laughing) It's a tribute to a mate's old dog. (He points to the car next to them) I mean if you don't like Bouncer there's always Basil. (Off Izzy's look) It's a long story.
He explains that he ended up buying both cars and suggests he could lend one of them "to a friend". Izzy hesitantly says she looks better in blue, so Shane just nods like it's a done deal. They gaze at each other for a moment until Shane leans in to kiss her. Izzy initially moves back, but it doesn't take long for her to grab Shane's face and pash him.
Number 22
Terese isn't a fan of packing up the house in silence with Glen and encourages him to talk to her. Glen explains that he's quiet because he can't bring himself to say the things he knows need to be said.
TERESE: Say what?
GLEN: We can't keep avoiding the truth. You still love Paul.
TERESE: (quietly) I don't want to.
GLEN: But you do, which means I'll always be second best. We can't be together.
TERESE: Maybe we could slow things down? I'm not going back to Paul, I can't. I won't.
GLEN: I don't think you should either. I truly believe he'll only just go on hurting you. But I'm not the one for you either.
TERESE: (upset) What about River Bend?
GLEN: It's still a good opportunity for you. But I can't be part of it.
TERESE: Kiri?
GLEN: If you back out she'll understand but if you go ahead she'll be the best 2IC you've ever had.
TERESE: (trying not to cry) I truly am sorry.
GLEN: Yeah, I know. Just do what's right for you.
Lassiters Car Park
Izzy regains her senses and stops kissing Shane, looking disappointed in herself. She explains that she shouldn't be doing this because she's with someone she loves, which is news to Shane.
SHANE: (carefully) So why are we kissing? If you think about it, if you're really that keen on this guy then you wouldn't have been flirting with me all morning.
IZZY: (quickly getting out of the car) I can't explain, I have to go.
SHANE: Maybe this is exactly what needed to happen?
Defeated by this thought, Izzy quickly leaves, not realising Kyle has witnessed the whole ordeal from across the complex.
Coming up on Neighbours
Kyle and Levi on Ramsay Street with Susan and Karl.
LEVI: (to Kyle) You going to tell them?
SUSAN: Tell us what?
KYLE: It's Izzy.
Susan's face looks murderous.
Toadie, Mel and Callum are stunned when Amy bursts through the door of #30.
AMY: Surprise!
Jane confides in Susan about her love life woes.
JANE: I don't know how to fix this mess with Clive.
SUSAN: Do you want to fix it?
Standing in the Lassiters Complex with Paul and Sam is none other than Mike Young. He accidentally bumps into Jane who is totally shocked to see him, and vice versa.
