- Ben confirming that he does miss Xanthe.
- Yashvi trying to persuade Karl to let Ben attend the fireworks display.
- Toadie trying to get rid of the fireworks but Yashvi is watching.
- Paul spotting Gary and Terese hugging after getting back together.
- Aaron on the hunt for the mystery woman in Paris.
- Mark not wanting Tyler to head off with Hamish.
- An upset Piper ordering Tyler to go off on his trip.
- Sheila wanting to head to Queensland with Hamish.
- Sheila finding Louise's bank card in her garden.
- Fay recognising Louise and that she was with Russell when he died.
- Louise regaining consciousness.
Yashvi retrieves the hidden fireworks from the back of Sonya's Ute and puts them into a box before heading back towards her house.
Meanwhile, Hamish thanks Tyler for buying the food since his card has gone missing but the lad is fine with it. Hamish suggests that it should be a boys only trip and he will have a chat with Sheila later on tonight even though Tyler pointed out she was looking forward to going away.
“I hate the way things are between us,” Tyler laments to his dad after silently watching Piper return home and Hamish points out that it was “her decision.”
Meanwhile, Sheila stands at the end of the #26 driveway with Louise's bank card in her hands debating what to do.
Aaron returns to his hotel room with the mystery woman still not having made contact with him… however seconds after he's texted Mark the mystery woman turns up at his hotel room! “It's you!” he proclaims before letting her into the room.
Karl, Mark and Fay are trying to piece together the mumblings Louise has said about Russell and Port Lincoln and what it means. They enter her room only to find it's been recently vacated – Louise has done a runner.
Terese tires to per persuade Piper to come to the gala ball but her mind isn't for changing.
Xanthe drops by all suited and booted and manages to get Piper to talk more than her mum did. Piper wants the pair of them to chat before Tyler leaves but since he didn't try to talk to her earlier (when she was coming home) she isn't going to try now. The lass admits it's getting to her – she can't sleep or eat but their chat is curtailed when Xanthe receives a text from Yashvi telling her to come see her ASAP.
Once the compliments are over about how Terese is dressed, Paige gives her an update on how the event is progressing. Terese is nervous that the event runs as scheduled given how much preparation has gone into it… however she isn't amused at seeing that the waiters are scantily dressed on Courtney's orders!
“I guess you both signed up for Elizabethan vogue,” Paige remarks after spotting what Courtney is (barely) dressed in for the ball. Courtney then demands that the waiters go more scantily dressed than they already are – topless!
Outside the front of #32 Yashvi tells Xanthe that she was the one responsible for what happened on muck up day, not Ben, he was simply sticking up for his mate. The lass has also deduced that Xanthe is still in love with Ben and orders her to be at #28 tonight between 9.00 and 9.05! “What's going to happen?” Xanthe asks but Yashvi is refusing to say much other than the “sheer awesomeness of the romance involved will blow your mind.”
Meanwhile as Piper is about to head off in her car, she finds a note from Tyler hidden in the car.
Pipes, if you're reading this, it means you've passed your driving test. I am so proud of you. Being with you is the best part of me.
“Are you going to fix things with Piper before you leave?” Ben asks when he comes over but Tyler is more interested in finding out how he could have been fined for speeding when he was on the boat. He checks the online fines website which has the photographic proof but it's not adding up. “Is there a chance Hamish used it?” Ben asks but Tyler wants to know why he'd go to the garage?
The place is heaving with guests for the gala come fireworks display. Mark brings his mum up to speed on the latest about Louise – they can confirm she didn't get into a cab at the hospital so no lead there and she isn't at her apartment either. He does add that he's arranged for the CCTV footage from the Port Lincoln hospital to be sent to the Erinsborough station and he'll review it tonight. They want to tell Tyler but are worried he won't listen to them and Fay somehow wants them to stop him leaving on the boat.
Sheila comes in to talk to Mark about Hamish and hands over Louise's bank card. She tells him it found at #26 and that she is sure Hamish had it – she has also checked the records at The Waterhole and he's used it there to pay his bills. Mark then breaks the news that Hamish was romantically involved with Louise and asks that she trusts him by staying away from Hamish. From the determined look on her face after Mark leaves, I think she is going to ignore that request!!!
Xanthe updates Courtney that Sonya is all set for her speech and while she is basking in how great things are going, someone isn't! Terese (and the hotel employees) aren't amused Courtney has given her permission for ball guests to use vacant hotel rooms to watch the fireworks as it's going to cost a fortune for cleaning and damages! Turns out Courtney has thought of that and is charging folk $20 a head.
TERESE: This is my gala and I pull all key decisions.
COURNTEY: If you don't mind me saying, that's a slightly phallic- centric way of operating. You know that Freud says…
TERESE: (interrupting) Oh Freud you Courtney!
Xanthe spots Hamish and compliments him on his Guy Fawkes outfit and he remarks that he thought it was appropriate. The man in question then leaves a voicemail for Tyler to say he's off to give Sheila the bad news about Queensland. He grabs a bottle of champers from a passing waiter to help sweeten the bad news.
Piper is the only one onboard the boat and finishes a call to Li- Kim to apologise for bailing on something as she plans on surprising Tyler, so she can have one last attempt at getting things sorted with him.
Elissa tells Aaron how she got involved with Hamish – he persuaded her to get involved in a property deal in Paris but lost nearly everything… and what little she had left, Hamish took and headed back to Australia with! “That is terrible,” Aaron replies and hears Elissa say that Hamish called to say he was in trouble with the ATO (Australian Tax Office) which meant he could go to prison. Elissa then explains why Tyler is involved – it's to help Hamish skip out of the country to somewhere that the authorities couldn't find him. It then dawns on Aaron that's why there were the charts of Indonesia and Elissa adds in that Hamish talked about there continuously as you could live like a king there with limited funds. “I need to call Tyler,” Aaron says with urgency.
Tyler finishes the call to Aaron and reassures his brother that he will be fine. Just as he finishes the call, there is a knock on the door but nobody is there, just a briefcase with a note - Secrets Hamish Roche has been keeping from you.
Tyler carries the briefcase into the house and opens it up. Immediately he sees the $35m demand from the ATO that Hamish received. Also in the briefcase is Russell Brennan's will (the one that distributed things equally between the 4 children), an iPhone (and when he dials his own number, it comes up saying ‘Dad') and the missing playing card – the ace of spaces.
Everyone pours out of the hotel to claim their vantage space to see the fireworks display but they've to listen to Sonya's speech first!
SONYA: Look everyone has their own opinion about what makes a place liveable. For me, it's a place where family is, where your neighbours are your friends, true friends, that help you when you're down. Who you can share a laugh with, who you can share joy and tears. Look its friendship, its love, its family, that's what makes life worth living and that is why this is a place that I never, ever want to leave. So here's to Erinsborough, the most liveable suburb in Australia!
The silent cast (Toadie, Steph, Elly, Leo, Mishti, Dipi and Shane) join in with the loads of random extras to watch the fireworks display.
During the display, Gary gets a panicky phonecall from Sheila and heads home to see her.
Terese joins Paul on the mezzanine however it's not to watch the fireworks, but instead to have a go at his intended for what she sees is Courtney sabotaging her return on the gala. The conversation then deviates to talking about their personal lives (part of their tit- for- tat spat) and she tells him that Gary wants her back and for them to start things afresh.
PAUL: Even after what you did?
PAUL: Do you love him?
PAUL: (with a thick upper lip) Good for you then.
The fireworks display is still continuing as Hamish (and his bottle of bubbly) wait for Sheila in the backyard. He hears a noise and thinks it's Sheila, but the visitor is Tyler who asks if the bubbles is to soften the blow when he tells Sheila that he owes the tax man $35m?! “What?” is Hamish's reply so Tyler fills him in on what Elissa said to Aaron. Hamish tries to put what she said down to being an ex, a very imaginative and unstable ex. Taking the ace of spades out of his pocked, Tyler asks why he has the card. “Coincidence,” is the best Hamish comes up with but given what else Tyler found, he demands his dad starts talking… “or maybe I should call Mark?” The threat is enough to have Hamish talking!
HAMISH: I'm broke. I made some bad calls a few years ago and now they're catching up with me. In 3 days' time I'll be in jail, I have to leave the country.
TYLER: On my boat?
Hamish does add that he was going to explain things to Tyler once they were out to sea and confirms Tyler asking that they wouldn't be returning.
HAMISH: Well since we'd grown so close, I hoped you'd understand.
Tyler wants to know where Russell fitted into all of this and why he has his stuff. Hamish explains that Russell contacted him when he was sick, including telling him about Tyler, and that he planned to leave the boat to all of them. We then hear Hamish confirm that Russell changed his will and that he stole the newer version as it meant dealing only with Aaron and Tyler rather than all four kids. Hamish also adds that initially he was just after the boat but after getting to know Tyler, wanted him to come along too but the stuff in Erinsborough was hold him back.
TYLER: Like my brothers who you turned me against! Like my job, you set me up to get fired?! And Piper? That stuff with T- Bone?
HAMISH: She thinks she's better than you, she said as much. Tyler you've got so much potential and you're wasting it on these people!
TYLER: Russell? My dad. Tell me you didn't have anything to do with his death?
The question is met with no response from Hamish and Tyler can't believe what he's not heard and isn't prepared to listen to anything Hamish now tries to tell him.
Number 32/28 backyards
Yashvi retrieves the snaffled fireworks when she gets the text from Xanthe to say she's at #28.
Meanwhile at #28, Ben is surprised to see that Xanthe isn't at the gala until she explains about wanting to be around someone who made her feel good after witnessing a fight between Courtney and Terese that left her feeling yuk.
Yashvi heads off to get the matches just as Kirsha comes out of the house with a lit sparkler in her hand and spots the box lying on the table. Going to stand beside the box (with the lit sparkler still in her hand) she tells Yashvi that “Mum and dad are doing to kill you,” but Yashvi explains that it's for Ben.
Over in #28, Xanthe says that she's something to tell Ben, but before we hear what she was going to say, we cut back to #32 and the sparkler has gotten too hot for Kirsha to hold and she immediately throws it away and of course you've guessed it, it lands right in the box where the fireworks are!!!
“NO,” Yashvi screams as the backyard now has its own fireworks display happening.
The official fireworks display is still continuing as the RSR stand watching it.
Mark lets himself into the house and it's all in darkness. He's on the phone to Fay and reports that it doesn't look like Hamish and Tyler have gone yet. Mark also confirms that the CCTV footage shows that Hamish and Louise were in the hospital the night Russell died.
MARK: No I'm sure Hamish had something to do with it and he's going to pay.
At sea (next day)
Russell's boat is motoring across the water as Piper wakes up down below. She is shocked to discover that it's moving and goes to talk to Tyler but the door to her cabin is locked. “Tyler,” she yells but its Louise that comes downstairs and she checks that the door is locked before rushing back upstairs. Piper tries the sunlight in the cabin but it's not opening and tries again to attract the attention of whoever is sailing the boat obviously to no avail.
The sun is shining over Ramsay Street and as we head into the backyard of #26, we find Hamish face down in the spa.
