Number 26
Steph comes into the backyard of #26 looking for Amy but nobody is answering the back door. She then discovers Hamish lying face down in the spa and calls for an ambulance while rushing into the fenced off area.
Hospital
David is checking Kirsha out - the burns are superficial, which should heal, and she has "flash induced blind spot" injuries to her eyes (hence not being able to see clearly) but expects it too to pass. He refuses to say more about her hearing though until after a specialist has been to see her for that too.
Number 24
With the gloves on, Mark is about to look through Hamish's briefcase when Steph comes rushing in to tell him that Hamish is dead after she found him "face down in the spa at the Canning's."
STEPH: The ambos called it straight away. It looks like he's drowned.
MARK: Tyler?
STEPH: I haven't seen him, I came straight here.
Steph repeats what the ambos said - that Hamish has been dead for a number of hours. She confirms nobody is home at #26 and thought Tyler would be at here, so Mark explains that he isn't living there just now. Mark then rushes out of the house to go find his brother.
Hospital
Dipi wants Yashvi to tell them all what happened since Kirsha is sleeping. She explains that she wanted to help Ben and Xanthe reunite, and the fireworks were so she could put on a little show for them. Shane wants to know if she stole the fireworks, and he is not happy when she explains that they were the ones from Burke. "I was just trying to do something romantic," pleads Yashvi.
DIPI: And now look! Your sister is the one paying the price.
YASHVI: I know. I never meant for anything to happen.
DIPI: You never do.
SHANE: You never learn, and this is how it ends up.
Paris/Lassiters Park
Mark calls Aaron to update him and he plans to get the first flight back to Australia, he is no longer going to go to the conference. Aaron asks about Tyler and Mark is forced to say that he can't find him and given what they know so far, he doesn't want to jump to conclusions over how Hamish died. It then dawns on Aaron that he needs to tell Mark what he passed onto Tyler last night (Aussie time) - the information about the ATO being after Hamish.
AARON: He was upset already. What if this just pushed him?
MARK: Look, we don't know what happened. We don't know anything alright. Just let me find Tyler and you get back here as soon as you can.
Aaron then goes to get his stuff packed when he receives a visitor - Rory, his ex!
Erinsborough Greenway
Mark eventually finds his brother sitting on a bench - he's been out walking all night and didn't want to go home or back to the boat. Tyler says that he isn't going on the trip with Hamish, which Mark already knew thanks to Aaron, and then goes to break the bad news.
MARK: Hey listen, um somethings happened. I'm not sure how to say this, so I'm just going to say it. Hamish has been found dead in Sheila's spa. I'm, sorry. Look, I know these past few weeks have been difficult between us, but none of that matters okay, you're my brother.
TYLER: What do they think happened?
MARK: We're not sure yet.
TYLER: Right.
MARK: He could have been sick, or it could have been an accident. We don't know the details. But for now, all you need to know is that we're with you - me, Aaron and mum. Okay and we'll get through this together. Yes?
The Waterhole
Sheila is having a cuppa when a relieved Steph finally finds her. She explains that she hasn't been home because she (and Gary) booked into Lassiters last night. Steph goes to speak but Sheila thinks it's to tell her about Hamish two-timing her (she knows) and literally has to force her to be quiet for a few minutes to tell her the news!
STEPH: There's something you need to know.
SHEILA: (concerned) What?
Erinsborough Greenway
It is hard to tell what Tyler feels about hearing the news as he simply describes Hamish as being "a bad person." He does confirms that he said a lot of stuff to Hamish, including what Aaron passed onto him, courtesy of the briefcase being left at the door of #24 (he doesn't know who left it).
Tyler also confirms that Russell did leave a different will to the one read out - it was updated just before he died with everything split between the four kids and thinks that Hamish had a role in Russell's death. Mark agrees with his suspicion especially after Fay recognised Louise as being Russell's nurse and (thanks to CCTV) both she and Hamish were "both in the hospital the day dad died". He also suspects that Russell was going to get rid of Louise too.
TYLER: How did I not see any of this? Did you know he was broke?
MARK: I know the woman from Paris said he owned the tax office.
TYLER: Yes, $35 mill due today and he doesn't even have a cent to his name.
MARK: Right, so he's backed into a corner, he finds out about the boat from dad, and sees it as a way to flee the country.
Mark thinks Hamish was going to steal the boat originally until he met Tyler. It now dawns on Tyler, that his father was just using him "as a way to skip the country." He also thinks that he might know where Louise is too as Mark thinks she is the one that is going to provide the answers.
Paris
Rory comments on how quiet Aaron is and puts it down to being surprised! He explains on how he know where Aaron was (via Instagram) and that the boys would love to see him too.
Rory then comes to Aaron's rescue when he takes over talking to the help desk (in French) as Aaron was struggling to be understood to get his flights changed.
Hospital
Ben and Xanthe are sitting waiting to see how Kirsha is doing. She is downhearted, but Ben sings her praises in how she managed to help not just Kirsha but Margie too.
Marina
Tyler rushes to where the boat was moored to find it is no longer there.
Hospital
Mark trying to find out information from the nurses on how Hamish died when Senior Constable Fagan catches him. "You shouldn't be here," she points out (since he isn't the investigating officer) and after reminding him that she can't tell him anything to do with the case, adds on that he's to remain contactable too.
MARK: Are you telling me not to go anywhere?
SENIOR CONSTABLE FAGAN: That's exactly what I'm saying.
Marina/Hospital
Tyler calls to tell Mark that the boat has gone.
Hospital
"She's in good hands," David tells Xanthe and Ben when he comes out of Kirsha's room. He does though reassure Xanthe that she couldn't have done any more for the lass and indeed praises her for what she did do.
Meanwhile, Yashvi is still berating herself for Kirsha being in hospital despite Mishti trying to tell her it was an accident. Mishti also adds that they should put their energies into helping Kirsha; anything else is a waste of time.
MISHTI: So give yourself a break.
Paris
Rory has worked his magic and got Aaron's flights all sorted for him. Arron can't but thank him enough and agrees to ordering room service as a way of thanking Rory (he wasn't in the mood to go out and catch up given the circumstances).
Hospital
Mark begs David for an unofficial update on Hamish's cause of death, but the doctor doesn't know.
Tyler arrives and tells Mark that nobody at the marina has seen anything. He does suspect that Louise has taken the boat and wonders too if she was the one that planted the briefcase as the last time he saw it, it was on the boat. "That's a solid theory," Mark agrees, and Tyler now wishes he had listened to his big brother.
MARK: You don't have to apologise right. Hamish is the cause of this, not you. We just have to figure out our next move.
"What else can we do?" Tyler asks, and Mark isn't sure, but they do have the briefcase, which Tyler wonders if they should hand it in. "We could do that," Mark replies but seems to be favour hanging onto it until they know what the cause of death ruling is.
TYLER: What difference would that make?
MARK: Well if it turns out there was foul play, it could show motive.
Senior Constable Fagan comes out to tell Tyler (as he is next of kin) of the preliminary findings from the pathologist. She wants to tell him in private, but Tyler is happy for her to speak in front of Mark.
SENIOR CONSTABLE: Details are still under wraps, but his death has been ruled as suspicious and it's now under investigation. (Turning to Mark) So, I'm going to have to ask you to come in for a formal interview.
TYLER: What?
MARK: I understand.
Meanwhile, in Kirsha's room, David explains that the nerve between Kirsha's brain and her ear has been damaged by the loud noise. He also adds that the specialist didn't say how long it would take to come good, it's got to be "a wait and see approach."
DIPI: Hang on. Wait and see for what?
DAVID: In a lot of cases, the patient's hearing restores itself within the first two weeks.
MISHTI: A lot of cases?
DAVID: 30 to 80% and those numbers are better the younger the patient.
SHANE: Okay, well, that's good for Kirsh.
DAVID: Yeah. It definitely helps. We should see 90% of the recovery she's going to experience within the first six weeks.
SHANE: David, that sounded a lot like you were saying she might not get her full hearing back?
DAVID: Anyone who doesn't experience significant improvement in that time is unlikely to.
YASHVI: She could be stuck like this?
DAVID: It is a possibility. Yeah.
KIRSHA: What's he saying?
The family look among themselves wondering how to answer that for her.
Ramsay Street
The police and their equipment arrive on mass in the street.
The Waterhole
Steph is relived to finally see Amy when she appears in the bar. Amy replies she was in a bad space, so she went to go see her mum... in the Blue Mountains (Steph is very sceptical!) but wonders what the big deal is? "You've not heard?" Steph asks, and Amy thinks she was talking about the gala.
STEPH: They found Hamish face down in the spa at your place this morning. He's dead Amy.
"Right," is Amy's initial response and then she asks is Steph has spoken to Tyler.
Number 24
Tyler is sitting his favourite chair debating whether or not to call Piper. He decides against it and instead picks up the box of Hamish's belongings and throws it to the ground, giving it an extra kick for good measure!
Number 26
The police in their 'smurf suits' are out collecting evidence in the backyard.
Ramsay Street
Sheila calls Gary to tell him that the police are just leaving but more so to add...
SHEILA: I did what you told me, but now the whole things got out of hand. So, what are we going to do?
The Waterhole
Amy exits the bar and watches on as Mark is escorted to the station for his chat!
