- Leo and Amy talking about finding his dad

Lassiter's Hotel Office
Terese apologises to Jasmine for going through her briefcase but if she's expected to put her job on the line to sabotage Leo's business, then she needs to know why. Jasmine tries to bluster her way out of the truth at first but then tells Terese that if the information in the files becomes public knowledge, then Leo could end up owning Lassiter's one day. Meanwhile, Amy has been standing outside of the office and has overheard everything.
Jack helps Tyler move an armchair into the hostel but hesitates when Tyler expects him to shift it upstairs (in the wise words of Ross Geller, “PIVOT!”). Jasmine drops by and introduces herself to Leo, asking him if his plans for the hostel are long- term or if he'd be interested in selling. Leo frowns and says he didn't start the hostel on a whim; he wants to build a hospitality empire of his own. Jasmine says to let her know if he changes his mind.
Karl looks through some paperwork and tells Elly and Ben that the new CEO of the hospital has a familiar name. “I have a feeling he used to live on Ramsay Street.” The trio, along with Susan, talk about Ben's work experience placement and how amazing the opportunity will be. Xanthe swans in dressed up in a joke nurse's outfit and offers an outfit to Ben too so that they can “couples cosplay”. The Kennedys aren't amused and tell Xanthe she needs to take work experience seriously. Xanthe pouts and says she was just joking before storming out. Karl and Susan are worried about Ben being distracted by Xanthe but Elly reckons Xanthe'll rise to the occasion.
The Cannings and Amy are having breakfast in the backyard while Xanthe (now cosplaying Colonel Sanders it appears) complains that work experience is going to suck. Sheila says it'll be fine and that Elly put a lot of work into securing her spot.
XANTHE: I don't even want to be an occupational therapist. Who even knows what occupations are?
Xanthe says she only agreed to it because it meant she could spend more time with Ben, but clearly no one wants her there. Gary tells her to keep her head held high and she'll do a great job, but Xanthe's like ‘whatever' and strops off. Gary takes his leave as well – if he gets into work early it means he can take an extra long lunch to check out Aaron's BBQ. Amy asks Sheila if she knows much about Jasmine Udagawa. Sheila says she's got Terese under her thumb and rules Lassiter's with an iron fist to protect her inheritance.
SHEILA: Have you had a run- in with her or something?
AMY: No she's fine with me. She doesn't really seem to get along with Leo, though, and I'm trying to figure out why.
SHEILA: Who needs a reason? The man is a walking ego.
Paul asks Terese if she wants to catch up later so they can trash talk Leo some more but Terese says she's busy. He then asks if she wants to go to Aaron's BBQ with him later but Terese shuts him down again, saying that Jasmine's breathing down her neck about work and she can't spare the time.
Leo's visiting David and trying to come up with ideas to get more people interested in visiting the backpackers – one idea being investing in table games like Pac- Man and Space Invaders. Leo spies Jasmine speaking with Karl in the hallway and tells David that Jasmine was scoping out the hostel yesterday. David teases his brother that Jasmine might have a crush on him but Leo scowls and says it's not funny.
Once Jasmine leaves, the Tanakas ask Karl what she wanted. He says Jasmine was inquiring about the new spinal unit and he's hoping she'll make a donation – she was also very interested in David's role at the hospital. The Tanakas are confused by Jasmine's sudden interest in them.
Later, Ben is following Karl on his rounds and is finding it difficult to deal with the emotional side of the job, especially when he hears Karl has to deliver upsetting news to a patient and their family.
Gary finds Terese and tells her that he's made his special BBQ sauce she loves that he's going to take to Aaron's shindig later. He asks if she's going to be there too and Terese hesitates for a moment but then smiles and says since he went to so much trouble with the sauce she'll make an appearance. Gary's pretty stoked.
Amy tells Aaron about the file Jasmine has on the Tanaka twins (but before we go further I just need to acknowledge Aaron's incredible shirt with colourful birds on it that also somehow look like dinosaurs from a distance, and it's the most Aaron- ish shirt Aaron has ever Aaron'ed before and it's amazing). Amy's conflicted about what she should do – she wants to tell Leo but she also wants to protect Terese as well so she doesn't get into serious strife with the Udagawas.
Amy visits Leo on the pretence of going to Aaron's BBQ but Leo sees through her ruse and asks what's wrong. After getting a promise from Leo that he'll keep the information to himself, Amy tells him that Jasmine has a file with his surname on it and that Terese knows about it too. Leo's particularly stunned and confused by the revelation that he could own Lassiter's one day.
Xanthe is sitting with a patient called Mrs Newman, letting her know all about the healing benefits of coconut oil, when David walks in. Mrs Newman lets Xanthe stay and is disheartened to learn that she's in for more tests to determine what's causing her pain. A cranky nurse finds Xanthe and tells her off for not following work experience protocol. Xanthe tells Mrs Newman she'll pop back later with the coconut oil for her feet. This gets David's attention and he deduces there may be something wrong with Mrs Newman's thyroid, therefore meaning not as many tests, therefore meaning Xanthe's an accidental Doogie Howser.
Out in the corridor David runs into Aaron and his epic bird shirt. Aaron invites him to the BBQ he's holding and they're both all smiles when David says he'd love to come.
Tyler's helping Aaron out with the BBQ, and by helping that means bagging him out for the fat free sausages he's providing. Father Jack's also there because he has nothing else to do without Paige in the episode. Aaron welcomes everyone to his ‘Brand Enthusiasm' BBQ and invites them to trample through Toadie's office if they're interested. He also takes a selfie with everyone because he's totes a social media guru #brandenthusiasm #blessed #samplemysausage.
Terese compliments Aaron on the set- up just as Gary arrives with Sheila and a bottle of his famous sauce. Aaron's offended that Gary brought his own, jokingly comparing him to Karl, but Terese says to give Gary a chance. In the background Paul walks by and isn't happy to see Gary and Terese smiling and standing so close to one another.
Xanthe and Ben have had very different first day experiences. Xanthe's all excited about gross stuff like seeing a dislocated shoulder, while Ben's more subdued thinking about the fragility of life. Cranky nurse from earlier finds them and growls at Xanthe again for not taking things seriously, letting her know her report to the school won't be positive.
Tyler encourages Aaron to go and chat with a couple of handsome customers they just served, but Aaron's mind is elsewhere: aka on Doctor Dave. Tyler tells his bro that even if he's right about David, he's so far into the closet that nothing will ever happen. Elsewhere, Gary is commiserating with Terese about the workload Jasmine has her under and says Terese needs a day off, or a massage at the very least. Terese laughs and says she has no time so Gary decides to massage her shoulders – just as Paul walks by. Paul acts snottily towards Gary but Terese sticks up for him, much to Paul's displeasure.
GARY: How about you stop harassing Terese? The last thing she needs is you giving her a hard time.
PAUL: And what are you now, a bodyguard as well as a cleaner?
GARY: I'm whatever she needs me to be. I don't expect you to understand that because some people look after others before themselves.
Paul and Gary get into a bit of a weak shoving match before Terese and Aaron break it up. Aaron tells them to take the caveman act elsewhere lest they disrupt his BBQ. Terese says she better get going and Gary follows her.
Xanthe stands with Ben and Susan while Karl heaps praise on his grandson and his work ethic. Ben says it's intense and doesn't look too overjoyed when Karl hints that it's only the beginning. Xanthe says she had an exciting time but her bubble is burst when Susan tells her that her supervisor didn't exactly give her a glowing report. David overhears this and lets Susan know that Xanthe had a great rapport with the patients and should be given another chance, which makes Xanthe smile. The teens head off to do their work experience journals while Karl tells Susan he won't be able to make the BBQ as he's needed at work. But David offers to cover for Karl as “clearly the BBQ's more important to you than me.” Aaron and his birds are gonna be so sad, Dave.
Leo spies Jasmine take her briefcase in the office. When Jasmine exits, Leo sneaks in to see what he can discover.
Gary has walked Terese home after convincing her she needed a break. He also feels bad about he and Paul adding more drama to her day when she didn't need it. There's a moment of URST when Gary asks Terese if she was only at the BBQ to support Aaron. She says yes, but then she calls out for him just as he's walking away.
TERESE: Wait! Of course that's not the only reason I came. I came because I wanted to see you, because I like being around you. And I still miss you. Gary I think you're the warmest, kindest, loveliest man I know. I don't know why I find it so hard to say that out aloud. I suppose because with what I've been through I'm just scared of putting my heart on the line. I want to change that, I want to let people in. I want… I want to let you in.
Gary surges forward and kisses her.
Rebecchi Law Office
Aaron chats up some potential clients while Amy, Sheila and Karl look on. Karl is quite complimentary towards Aaron's sausage, one of which he's currently eating in bread, calling it “surprising and confusing”. Leo stops by and pulls Amy aside to tell her he found the file Jasmine had on him. Not only that but Leo then adds, “I think I know who my father is.”
