Harold's café
Piper and Tyler exchange looks with each other as she and the rest of the teen gang enter the store. Ben/Angus are ribbing Xanthe about her forthcoming TV appearance (her Family Feuds episode airs today) but her lips are sealed until the episode airs.
Cue titles!
School playground
Xanthe can tell something is up with Piper and tells her to spill the beans. "Just the usual," she replies back, which causes Xanthe to rib her before saying that Tyler cares about her in his own way. That is what Piper is fed up with, and declares she is getting off the "Tyler Brennan big dipper for good."
"You're delusional, you know that," Ben declares when Angus tells him that he is going to get a moon tattoo to compliment the one Elly is getting done! "She'll get it," Angus thinks and Ben points out that Elly isn't interested in him although Angus thinks that time will have her changing her mind!
The Terrace
Gary is giving Terese short shrift when she tries to talk to him and turns down her offer of having a big screen set up in The Waterhole to show Family Feuds.
Leo has seen their terse conversation and enquires if it's something he needs to know about (no, it's personal) however he then comments that Sheila has a big mouth and has been intimating that something happened between her/Gary. This is met with Terese's stern face and he's told in no uncertain terms that it's Paul he needs to concentrate on! To help aid him, she hands over a USB stick with information about recent bookings and is told to make it look like they are doing better to encourage Paul to spend money he doesn't have.
Leo & David's apartment
Paul thanks Leo for handing him the USB stick and the news that bookings are thriving however refuses to let him know the details of the market research that he got done because Leo is his spy not his employee.
Leo has discovered that Paul doesn't plan on watching Family Feud with her, much to his surprise, so after Paul leaves he calls her.
School playground
As the bell rings, Elly tells the kids to get a move on or they will be late for class. The teen gang don't start to move, and instead begin to converse more, so Elly remarks about Piper's need to catch up having been off school and that she looked fine with hanging around with Tyler. Piper demands an apology from her for talking about her private life at school. Things between the two are getting a bit heated and it doesn't help that Angus jumps in and takes Elly's side, which earns them both detention!
Angus runs after Elly demanding to know what that was about especially as he was defending her! "You're acting like a boyfriend and it's completely inappropriate," she tells him especially as she could lose her job, which she adds is the only positive thing she has going for her just now.
ANGUS: You've got me.
ELLY: Angus, what part of 'it will never happen' don't you understand?!
ANGUS: You're just worried about what other people will think.
ELLY: No, no, I'm trying to get my life in order. I'm trying to be there for Karl, I'm trying to be a good teacher. What I don't need is a little schoolboy with a crush that will be over next week causing me trouble.
ANGUS: It's not a crush.
ELLY: Angus, back off!
The Waterhole
The reason Leo called Amy was to get her to secure a wooden trellis at the bar as they think there will be a big crowd there tonight although Amy seems to be wanting to downplay her forthcoming TV appearance. When he hears that she isn't watching the show with her dad, he tries to stir it up and suggests if Paul doesn't feel welcome at #26 (because of the tension with Gary) then she should bring him to The Waterhole and he'll even put on a free meal for her. "I'll think about it," is her reply.
School
The teens detention is doing playground clear up duty and while Piper gets stuck in, Angus sits moping.
Once they finish, they sit and moan about how the adults (Elly/Tyler) don't take them or their feelings seriously. Angus suggests they do something that fits with how the adults see them like going to watch the fireworks that evening until Piper points out he's grounded and she's helping with dinner.
ANGUS: Teens don't care about that stuff Pipes, they not responsible and if you were to drive us there then we'd really be breaking the rules.
The Waterhole
Leo sits Paul, Jimmy and Amy at a table and promises to hold back any autograph hunters! He then wonders over to Terese to ask her to keep an eye on them as he's got a personal errand to run.
West Waratah
Piper parks the car in a position where they can watch the fireworks from. While they wait, Angus asks her about the balloon crash and she admits that during the whole thing she kept thinking of Tyler. "That's love," Angus declares but her interpretation is that it was brainwashing because there is no such thing as love. The pair then discuss what love is before Piper gets upset after realising that when she thought she was going to die in the balloon crash, her 'last' thoughts weren't of her friends and family but of Tyler.
ANGUS: I think that's kind of beautiful.
PIPER: No, I don't and that's why I'm never going to fall in love again, not with Tyler and not with anyone.
Number 26
Sheila isn't too impressed at the number of calls she's received from "money grabbing relatives" as they sit watching Family Feuds although is happy to take a call from Naomi. Even Gary gets one although his is about a "money investment opportunity" from a mate. Ben asks Xanthe what she plans on doing with her money and her reply is to use it to find her mum.
West Waratah
The duo put the worlds to right talking about love and discuss who the right person for them would be. Angus is somewhat surprised when Piper says his name explaining that he's creative, not dumb, nice, age appropriate and cute so it could work! He wonders about finding someone for himself as they need to be worthy! She describes his someone as being smart, well read, funny and pretty but not in a mainstream sort of way. He wonders how he can ever find someone with those qualities... then says "there's always you." Piper doesn't think she meets all of those requirements but he starts singing her praises, and comments that if Tyler can't see them, he doesn't deserve to be with her.
The pair then start pashing just as the fireworks start but they are too absorbed with each other to care about them now!!!
The Waterhole
Tyler sits writing a card to Piper, saying that he is sorry and that he loves her!
Number 26
Gary notices his mum watching a recording of them on Family Feuds and can't believe she is crying.
SHEILA: Just look at us, a while ago you were in prison and Xanthe wasn't in our lives at all and now we're on the telly in front of all of Australia and standing next to Grant Denyer. We're a national success story.
"You're hopeless, mum," Gary teases her with in reply and she apologises for giving him grief about Terese but it was done because she loves him. "I know," Gary replies and she asks if he misses her?
GARY: I've got an amazing daughter, the best mum in the world... why would I need anyone else?
The Waterhole
Leo is surprised that Amy has turned down his freebie offer when he spots her paying her way at the bar. After he leaves, Amy remarks that she is surprised Terese hasn't said anything given Gary mentioned her name a few times. Terese's interpretation is he is angry but Amy's is that he is crazy about her and yes they may be different but there is chemistry between them plus he's one of the good ones, of which aren't easy to come by.
Meanwhile, Elly asks how Leo's world domination plans are going and he replies good and tells her he's starting up his own company and has found out how to get market research done for free. She hopes that he's better at romance than he is with wheeling and dealing, so Leo puts his money where his mouth is...all $5 into winning the bet.
ELLY: You don't stand a chance of winning this bet!
LEO: Keep telling yourself that.
Number 26
Terese nervously waits at the backdoor of #26 for Gary to appear holding tickets to the Melbourne Boat Show in her hands. When he does, she says she's spent time thinking about them and that they should take the day off work tomorrow and she is about to say why when their conversation is interrupted by Xanthe yelling "dad" before rushing to see him. Gary is concerned about what is wrong but its good news, with Jesse's help (her half-sister), she's had an email from her mum wanting to see her tomorrow. Gary cheekily asks for his day off before saying bye to Terese and heading inside to talk with Xanthe.
West Waratah
We head back to check on Piper and Angus who are now sitting bolt upright in a car that has very steamy windows! The pair are now very nervous around each other, unlike earlier, and from what little they've said, we can tell something happened but not what as the episode ends.
Promo
- Angus telling Ben that something was a huge mistake.
- Piper looking at photos of Tyler on her phone.
