Previously on Neighbours
- Rain helps Amber ease her nerves before an exam.
- Amber thinks she judged Rain too harshly.
- Terese and Brad continue to squabble.
- Kyle sees Sheila giving his dad money.
- Sheila admits she's seen his dad a few times over the years and begged him to see Kyle but he wouldn't.
- Sheila tells Gary he needs to talk to Kyle or that is it for them.
- Gary comes to see Kyle.
While Kyle and Gary stand in the back yard, not talking to each other, Sheila explains to Georgia in the kitchen that she's been begging Gary for years to send a Christmas card and he never did once in 16 years. It's been hard for Kyle.
Gary tries to make chitchat with Kyle about the house and about Georgia. He asks about the wedding and Kyle's business but Kyle doesn't give long responses. Gary kept up with things through Sheila, but Sheila never mentioned Gary to Kyle. Gary says there isn't much to say, he travelled around a bit, handy man work mostly. Kyle says he thought Gary was dead, he thought it was probably the best excuse why he never heard from him. Kyle's angry that Gary never managed a single phone call, or turned up at Granddad's funeral. Gary changes the subject and asks about Kyle's mum, but Kyle won't discuss her with him.
Terese tells Imogen to take a break from studying, cramming isn't going to make any difference, she's got this legal studies exam in the bag. Terese tells her and Brad that they should order takeaway tonight, Thai, Indian, Turkish or all three. Imogen heads for her exam. As Imogen leaves, Paige arrives. Paige invites Brad to play some basketball at her place. Brad invites Terese, but Terese declines the offer as she's meeting Susan. Terese invites Paige to get some takeaway with them tonight, and Paige agrees.
Paige leaves, and before Brad goes with her, he asks Terese if everything is alright. He thought tonight would be a chance for them to talk. Terese says they've tried to schedule time to talk before and it hasn't worked, she thinks it should come up organically. Brad says he'll pick up the takeaway on the way home, and leaves. Terese picks up her bag and searches through it.
Daniel, Amber and Rain are sitting together. Paul tells Daniel that the discount on the printed flyers has a use by date and asks Daniel when the opening date would be. Rain says there are more sustainable ways of getting the word out than printing flyers.
PAUL: Yes thanks for your input Ghandi.
Paul tells Daniel the clock is ticking. Rain suggests they use social media, that's what she's doing with New Eden. Paul ignores Rain and tells Daniel that every day they wait is lost revenue. Daniel goes to get things sorted out now.
Paul goes to order from the counter, and chats to Lauren. Paul isn't pleased about who Daniel decides to associate with, the hippy ideal is not doing him any good.
Kyle plays with Bossy, while Gary watches them and asks about her. Kyle says he can't imagine life without Bossy now, and Gary starts crying, noticing how gentle Kyle is with her. Gary rushes off in tears, while Kyle angrily chases after him.
Kyle chases after Gary.
KYLE: At least have the courage to look me in the eye before you bugger off again! What are they, crocodile tears? Where were you for my tears, whenever I fell down or got pushed around? Nowhere, you were nowhere!
GARY: I'm sorry, I knew I'd muck this up just like I do with everything else in my life.
Gary tells Kyle that seeing him with Bossy brought to mind when Kyle used to have a dog as a child. Sometimes Kyle's bed would be empty and they'd find him curled up with the dog in his basket. Kyle doesn't remember as he was too young. Gary knows Kyle's a good guy, he has his whole life ahead of him which has nothing to do with him as he wasn't around for any of it. Gary says he can never make it up to him and he doesn't deserve the chance to try. Gary walks off.
Daniel and Rain are discussing plans for New Eden. Amber changes the subject (not soon enough) and suggests that they decide what to do with the junk in here. Rain starts complaining about the plastic that they're using, and then goes back to talking about New Eden. Amber again reminds Daniel that Paul has a lot riding on this. Rain gets stroppy and says a bar is hardly going to change the world. Daniel agrees with Amber, and Rain accuses Daniel of not having a spine of his own anymore. Rain apologises, but the bar doesn't tick a lot of the sustainability boxes. Daniel says he's setting up a bar which is eco friendly, and that takes actual work. Rain backs down and apologises for getting in the way. Daniel leaves.
Susan pours tea while Terese uses a breath freshener. Terese brings over biscuits and they chat about how awful it is that Sonya's getting those letters. Susan asks how things are with her, she says that with Josh's trial and Imogen's exams out the way, the Willis's are good, but there's nothing left to hide behind now. She and Brad have to talk things out but she doesn't want to. Susan tells her to tackle things head on. Terese has tried dinners, and welcoming Paige, but they're all just gestures. Susan tells her to forget the grand gestures. If she wants her family back to normal then she has to start acting that way.
Number 32 Back Yard
Terese joins Brad, Paige and Lauren for a game of basketball, her and Brad vs. Paige and Lauren. After a basketball montage where Paige and Lauren start winning, it's clear that Terese isn't enjoying the game. Terese tells them that basketball isn't her game and awkwardly leaves.
Rain tells Amber she's made things weird, she didn't mean to snap at Daniel. Amber agrees that she was out of line, Daniel isn't spineless. Rain loves how Amber is always on his side, she's a much better girlfriend than she ever was, she's glad Daniel found someone like her. Rain tells Amber to throw a glass of water in her face if she gets fired up like that again. Amber mentions that Wolfy could do that, and Rain blanks for a second, before unconvincingly agreeing. Rain gives Amber a meditation CD which might help if when gets overwhelmed. Amber thanks her, she might give it a listen.
Number 26 Back Yard
Kyle stands in the dark looking sad when Sheila asks how he is, and apologises if he's angry at her. Kyle says if he is angry at anyone it's his dad. When Kyle ran after Gary he was going to give it to him, all the stuff he hasn't had the chance to say, but when he turned around he was crying. Kyle didn't think he gave a toss. Sheila says he loved him, he just didn't know how to show it, he didn't know how to be a father.
Brad brings home takeaway to celebrate Imogen finishing high school. Terese says the boys (Doug and Josh) said to start without them, so they start serving up. Imogen notices the frosty atmosphere between Brad and Terese.
Pirate Net/Number 22/Number 26
Paul and Daniel discuss when the bar will be ready to open. Meanwhile Amber puts on the meditation CD and closes her eyes while listening to Rain's voice. As we hear Rain's voice prattle on, we cut to Terese on her porch playing with something that looks like a lighter. Kyle and Georgia sit quietly together on their sofa, while Kyle looks very sad. Paul and Daniel discuss business, then back to Terese looking at her family photo and the photos of Paige on her mantle. Meanwhile Sheila brings Kyle a beer.
Terese tells Brad she wants to talk. Brad asks if Terese has been smoking. She says she had a couple of cigarettes but she threw the rest in the bin, she knows it's disgusting. She's been trying to act normal for the kid's sake but it isn't working. Every time she walks outside Lauren is right across the road. She can't get away from it. She's realising that it's not Brad, Paige or Lauren, it's her that's the problem. She's the one who can't move on. Brad asks what they do. Terese says there's only one thing they can do, it's not going to be easy.
Number 22 (Next Morning)
Terese folds up a bed sheet from the sofa, while Brad offers her a coffee. Imogen comes downstairs, thrilled to finally be free for the first time in her life. Brad says Josh and Doug have gone out lawn bowling. Imogen spots Terese's suitcase by the door and asks if she's going away on a work trip. Terese says they were going to wait for Josh to get back so they could tell them both together. Terese and Brad are trying to work some things out, and decided it would be easier if they spent some time apart. Terese is going to move into the hotel for a while. Imogen is speechless.
- Josh sees Terese moving into Lassiters.
- Imogen asks Brad if he and Terese are getting a divorce.
- Susan wants Karl to get rid of the pig, but Karl says ‘The King' is staying.
- Karl finds a box which reads ‘Elvis has left the building'
KARL: You mess with the pig and you get the tusk.
- Imogen blames Paige for her parent's marriage problems.
