Previously on Neighbours
- Mark airs his suspicious about Dakota to Matt, who advises he should go to the federal police
- Mark's old handler Greta finds lots of police dirt on Dakota, and asks him to get close to her
- At their stag/hen evening, Kyle and Georgia thank Chris for organising it all
- Josh comes to the hospital to apologise for hitting Chris, but Kyle shouts at him to get out
- Chris wakes up from his induced coma, and immediately recognises Nate
Erinsborough Hospital
Chris is still a little disoriented, as Kyle and Nate are visiting. Georgia, who is working, tells him he has some paralysis in his right arm. He's also suffering from aphasia - making it difficult for him to say certain words.
Chris wants to know how he landed up in hospital, but Georgia tries to dissuade him from talking about it. Chris remembers being at the pub for the stag/hen night, but he doesn't remember how he got hurt. Nate thinks they should tell him, as it's stressing him out not knowing. So Georgia admits that Chris was punched, and hit his head when he fell. Chris is shocked and puzzled to learn that Josh is the one who punched him.
Ramsay Street
Outside No 24, Paige is helping Bailey practice his boxing technique on a punchbag, but he only winds up hurting himself. Paige asks how things are going with Alice, and wonders what will happen if one of them gets into Space Camp and the other doesn't - but Bailey won't be drawn on the subject.
Bailey leaves as Mark comes down from the house. He explains he's had a job offer - his old boss has asked him to help investigate something. He's not sure whether he wants to take it. Paige tells him to do whatever makes him happy.
PAIGE: As long as you have enough time to work out with me. In the bedroom, I mean.
They kiss.
No 30
Breakfast time, and Toadie is searching for his iPad. He soon realises Nell has it, and is playing a game on it.
TOADIE: Thank you very much, I'll take that.
NELL: No!
Toadie asks Sonya how Nell knows how to play iPad games; Sonya admits she taught her. Nell starts shrieking and crying, until Toadie gives her the iPad back and Sonya calms her down.
SONYA: Shall we play with something else? Do you want the penguin?
NELL: No.
SONYA: No. What about... what about Monkey? Do you want Monkey?
NELL: No.
SONYA: No. What about the doggy? Do you want to play with the doggy?
NELL: No.
Meanwhile, Toadie has crept away with the iPad!
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila arrives to see Chris. Kyle and Georgia explain he's talking, but isn't great. Sheila reveals that Chris's parents are stuck in Greece due to an airport strike, and won't be back for a few days. She hopes that will mean they won't see him at his worst, but Georgia explains Chris could be in this state for a while.
KYLE: I was thinking maybe we should postpone the wedding.
GEORGIA: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
They don't want to go ahead without Chris, plus, Kyle grumbles, Naomi has 'shot through' to Hawaii. Sheila tells him not to judge her, as he doesn't know the full story - then admits to them that she sent Naomi away for a 'romance rehab' because she still has feelings for Toadie. Kyle and Georgia decide they will postpone the wedding, and Sheila offers to sort out all the admin for them, saying they should stay here for Chris.
No 30
Sonya is reading Nell a storybook, but Toadie is being a little aloof. He asks Sonya how much time Nell has been spending on the iPad. Sonya admits she's been playing on it since they've been doing video calls with Callum; Sonya gives it to Nell when she's busy, to keep her occupied.
Toadie is concerned Nell's spending too much time in front of a screen, and tells Sonya she should be monitoring it more carefully. Sonya angrily objects to him laying all the blame at her door, saying she has a business to run as well, yet she's always at the 'parental pointy end' because Toadie's always at the office. Sonya leaves the house in a strop, despite the fact that Toadie was due to leave for work.
NELL: Mum.
TOADIE: Yep. There goes Mum. It's just you and me, kid.
NELL: Mama.
Harold's Store
Bailey watches, smiling, as Paige and Mark kiss and tease each other. Once Mark's gone, Bailey admits that Paige and Mark remind him of how he and Alice are with each other, and tells Paige he's here if she ever needs relationship advice. Paige laughs.
PAIGE: From you?!
BAILEY: Yeah. I mean, I know we're still getting used to the whole being siblings thing, but as your sibling...
PAIGE: Stop saying sibling!
BAILEY: As your sibling, I feel obligated to let you know that that PDA stuff you did just then was disgusting. I mean, that was the soppiest thing I think I've ever seen.
Paige playfully tries to wrestle Bailey, and he tells her off for being juvenile. Paige admits how much she likes Mark, and says he's one of the good ones, unlike some of her ex-boyfriends. Bailey tells Paige it's good to see her happy. She smiles.
Josh is sitting at a table having just taken a phone call, and Paige goes to join him. Josh admits Nate just called - Chris wants to talk to him. Paige offers to go with him, but Josh says he should do this on his own. Paige leaves him to it, and he looks worried.
Radio Station
Mark comes in, and finding the place empty, starts snooping in some files - but Dakota comes in, and he makes out he'd just come in to drop her off some lunch. She says she's too busy for lunch setting up her new bar, and playfully accuses him of snooping; but he dodges the subject, and encourages her to take a break with him. Dakota agrees, and says he can help move some furniture after that. Mark gets a text from Paige, saying 'Thinking of you. Xx'.
Erinsborough Hospital
Nate, Kyle and Georgia are with Chris, who is having memory problems - he's forgotten that the stag/hen party has already happened, but remembers when they remind him. Kyle and Georgia explain they're postponing the wedding, but make out it's because of Naomi's absence, not Chris's condition.
CHRIS: Don't lie to me! It's because of me! You can't do that. Please, don't put it off. I'll be there.
Seeing how upset he is, Georgia and Kyle agree to go ahead with the wedding after all.
Josh arrives, and Chris asks Kyle and Georgia to wait outside.
JOSH: How are you?
CHRIS: I need to know what happened, at the... At the... At the...
NATE: Party.
CHRIS: The party.
JOSH: I was upset. And so I had a drink. And I got even more upset. And wound up hitting you.
CHRIS: Did I do something?
JOSH: No. You were just being like you always are. Being a good friend. There's no excuse for what I did. I am so, so sorry. Chris, believe me, I would do anything to take it back.
NATE: You can't.
JOSH: No.
CHRIS: Okay. Please go now.
Chris is visibly upset, as Josh leaves. Chris then tells Nate he needs to be alone, so Nate leaves.
Harold's Store
Sonya seeks advice from Sheila and Susan about whether she should be letting Nell spend so much time playing with the iPad. They're sympathetic, saying they've done it too - Susan would put Libby in front of the TV every morning for a five-minute de-stress. But Sonya's worried she's becoming too reliant on it.
SHEILA: Oh, I think whatever gives you peace is fair game. I used to put whisky in Naomi's milk just to calm her down.
Susan and Sonya look horrified.
SHEILA: Although now I come to think of it, it probably wasn't such a good idea.
SUSAN: No...
Susan says there are arguments for and against letting kids have screen-time, but that Sonya has to make up her own mind.
Paige is looking anxiously at her phone. Sheila asks if she's keeping tabs on Mark.
SHEILA: Oh, I don't blame you, love. If I had a strapping young man like Mark Brennan, I'd insist on him wearing a tracking bracelet.
Paige laughs, but looks a little worried.
Radio Station
Mark is not-so-subtly grilling a flirtatious Dakota about her past. He asks her what she did after working for the bank in Brazil. She's coy, saying it wouldn't interest him - but admits she did a lot of jobs in South America. Mark presses her, but at that moment Paul comes in. He's slightly annoyed to find Mark there, and sends him on his way. Once they're alone, Paul tells Dakota that Mark is seeing someone else.
DAKOTA: Why would I care? I don't think of him in that way anyway. There's only one man I'm interested in.
She grabs Paul and kisses him passionately.
No 30
Sonya comes in, and catches Toadie playing with the iPad with Nell - he admits it was the only way he could get her to calm down. He apologises for blaming it all on Sonya before, and says she's the world's greatest mum. But Sonya thinks Toadie may have been right; while technology isn't necessarily a bad thing, she feels it has become a bit of a crutch.
Toadie admits he's too reliant on digital gizmos as well, and Sonya suggests that they have a 24-hour 'digital detox' in order to spend more quality time together. He thinks it's a good idea, but asks if they can do it next week, rather than tomorrow, as he's too snowed under with work to be away from his phone or computer. Sonya agrees they'll do it next week, and kisses Toadie and then Nell.
The Waterhole
Sheila is briefing Kyle and Georgia on all her hard work postponing the wedding arrangements, when they break the news to her that it's going ahead as planned after all. Sheila makes her annoyance clear, but Kyle apologises and says they're going ahead because it's what Chris wanted. No-one's sure he'll be well in time for it, though.
Harold's Store
It's Dakota's turn to quiz Mark. She admits Paul told her he had a girlfriend, and also that he was a little untrustworthy.
MARK: Just a little?! I'm almost flattered. Does it bother you, what he said?
DAKOTA: No. It doesn't.
MARK: Good.
DAKOTA: And just so you know, my relationship with Paul is just business. That's all.
MARK: Okay. Well does Paul know that? Because I think he's thinking a little differently.
DAKOTA: Well, what Paul doesn't know, won't hurt him.
MARK: So what exactly are you looking for?
DAKOTA: Nothing serious. Just a little bit of fun on the side. What do you think about that?
MARK: I think we should discuss this later in more detail.
DAKOTA: Hmm, sounds interesting. Well, you know how to reach me.
Once Dakota's left, Mark rings Greta, his ex-boss, and tells her he's 'in'.
On his way out, he passes Nate, who's sitting alone looking at pictures of Chris on his mobile. Nate watches silently as Josh comes in for a drink, pays Margie, and leaves again. 'Dangerous' music plays.
Outside the Community Centre
Nate pulls up in a car and stops to talk to Josh, who's been jogging. He offers to give Josh a lift home. Josh insists he's fine, but thanks Nate for the offer.
NATE: Chris was talking about you again.
JOSH: Yeah?
NATE: Yeah, I think he wants to ask you some more questions. I'm heading back that way if you want to tag along?
JOSH: Err, no, I dunno.
NATE: It'd be good for Chris.
Josh agrees, and gets in the car. Nate looks serious as the car pulls away.
