Alternating between No 22 and the car driven by Nate
Terese asks where Josh is, and Imogen replies he should be home from his run soon.
Josh spots that they aren't going to the hospital.
Terese is worried and decides to call Josh...
...but Nate snatches the phone.
Georgia is doing a test to see if Chris has any sensation in his right hand (he doesn't). He is frustrated at being unable to express the words he needs - like wedding and paper. Karl says it's normal and should improve with therapy. Outside the room, Georgia asks if Chris can go to the wedding. Karl says he doesn't think it's going to be possible.
Susan, who had just happened to turn up at the hospital, asks if Chris could go to the ceremony in a wheelchair. Karl says only if he makes a lot of progress. This is Erinsborough Hospital: it's in the bag! Susan remembers she hasn't done any shopping, and Karl's not impressed at her suggestion that he could have done some.
KARL: I don't know where. I've just come off a very long shift. I've got to write ten pages for Lou tonight. On an empty stomach apparently.
SUSAN: Oh stop whinging. I'm going to nick back to Harold's and grab some takeaway.
MAL: Grab me some Lamingtons while you're there mum!
Karl and Susan are thrilled to see their son, who is over for a business trip. Susan is worried that he's tired and offers to make him some tea, but he says he's fine.
KARL: Come on, let him do it. That's why we have children.
Matt comes in to find Amber at home.
MATT: Hey, have you moved back home?
AMBER: Uh, no, I just came home to do some washing.
MATT: And to use our wi- fi?
AMBER: I had exam questions to download.
MATT: So let me understand this: you leave home, but then come back to use the perks.
AMBER: Mum said it was fine.
LAUREN: I just want her to pass her exams.
MATT: Well, she might have a better chance if she lived her where there are less distractions.
AMBER: Dad, I moved out. It's done.
LOU: Do you know what I think we need?
Lou suggests they all have a meal together, since there's been a lot of tension. They all agree, and Lou wants to invite Alice and Daniel, but Daniel is not in this episode working. Bailey suggests asking Paige. They all look at Matt, who asks why he should have a problem with it. Matt asks Lou privately about it, and Lou says he's bottling everything up and everyone is walking on eggshells around him.
Unknown location- night
The car pulls up by a wire fence. Nate and Josh get out and Nate pushes him up against the fence.
NATE: Chris's brain is so bashed up he can barely even function. He's hardly even him. He'll be like that forever. Because of you. BECAUSE OF YOU.
JOSH: Just do it then. Just do it. I deserve it.
Nate considers, then lets him go.
Karl and Susan are chatting with Mal about his visit to Rome.
MAL: We, um… accidentally made a little bambino… or bambina? We don't know yet.
SUSAN: Catherine's pregnant?!
They are thrilled and tell Mal he'll make a great father, Karl pointing out he's got a great role model. Mal gets a text from Catherine saying “Have you asked them yet?” I do like a properly punctuated text. Meanwhile, Karl and Susan can't find the car keys.
While Mal is buying the drinks, Terese comes to ask Karl and Susan if they have seen Josh. Susan says no, but maybe he needs some time to himself. When Mal comes back, he tells them that Catherine is stressed about being alone with the baby when he's working away - and that's stressing him.
MAL: So we were hoping you'd come over.
KARL: Oh, when the time comes, absolutely.
SUSAN: Yeah, we could probably stay a couple of months.
MAL: I meant more that you'd stay. For good.
Karl and Susan are a bit taken aback at this.
Terese tells Brad and Imogen that Josh's bed hasn't been slept in. Brad says he'll go and look for him, but Josh turns up. Terese asks where he's been.
JOSH: I… I went running.
TERESE: All night?
He claims that he slept in the park, having left his phone in his room. Brad tells him to shower, as they have to go to the police station.
Susan is looking at the portrait of the children when Nate arrives home. She asks where he's been. He tells her that he almost did something stupid.
NATE: The more I thought about Chris struggling, the angrier I got. But I realise that putting another person in hospital doesn't Chris any good.
SUSAN: No. I'm glad you saw reason.
NATE: Yeah, I am too.
Karl and Susan are discussing the pros and cons of move to London (basically Karl for and Susan against).
Paige asks Lauren if everyone wanted her to come to lunch or just Lauren. Lauren says it was Bailey's suggestion and everyone else agreed. She says the decision is made as Margie has to cover her shift. Pfft.
Meanwhile, Alice is introducing Bailey to her grandmother, who decides he is "polite and cute". Bailey looks worried, and he tells Alice his family is weird. She says it's OK, so is hers: all families are like that.
Matt is unimpressed that Amber is doing Daniel's washing. Paige comments that she used to live in a van with her ex, which was "awesome in a seedy way". She catches Matt's eye and says she realised it was a terrible idea. Bailey arrives with Alice. They Karl arrives, and Lou claims that Karl is giving him advice for a doctor character in his book. Paige invites Karl to stay for a while, but Lou hustles him out.
Georgia tells Chris she's really sorry about the wedding, but they're going to video it, and she'll save him lots of cake. Nate turns up and she goes. Nate tells Chris that he was rude to Georgia and Chris says that he can't go to the wedding. Nate says he must do as the doctors say. Nate hugs him and Chris moves his arm to hug him back.
NATE: See, you're getting better. Slowly, but you are.
Alice comments on how close Paige is to the family and asks if she is in touch with her biological father as well. There's an awkward silence, then Paige says it's Brad. Lauren says it's a long story but they're all getting to know each other. Alice asks Paige where she lived before, then says she's been to Adelaide. She asks Matt if he's been there. He says yes, years ago.
MATT: Lauren's been there more recently.
Lauren coughs, and Lou offers everyone cheesecake. Amber says she's going to meet Daniel home from work. She is taking a load of food with her. Matt is annoyed, especially when he discovers that Lauren has given it to her. He walks out.
Lou tells Bailey that Karl's “research” is unusable. Lou goes to answer the door, and Bailey is a bit embarrassed to tell Alice that Lou is an erotic author. It turns out that Alice's gran, Layla, is a big fan of The Book of Secrets. She comments that he looks younger in his online photo.
LAYLA: You should consider taking a new one. Your masculine energy now is even more intense.
ALICE: OK, we're leaving.
Bailey leaves with them, leaving Lou staring after them.
Karl has found a photo of the Kennedy family when they first moved into Ramsay Street.
KARL: Look at the date stamp. It's twenty years ago today that we moved to Erinsborough.
Malcolm suggests it's the perfect amount of time to spend in one place… Susan points out it's a big deal moving overseas at their age. Karl says it doesn't mean it's a bad idea; after all they'd be near a lot of loved ones.
KARL: Maybe this stage of our lives has run its course. Maybe it's time to begin a new one.
