- Kate decides to go to Sydney without Mason, and dumps him
- Matt is upset with Mason and Amber's recent behaviour
- Chris is lovesick over Hudson's rejection of him, leading him to a bad start with his new boss
Kyle gets up in the middle of the night to find Chris staring at TV infomercials. He asks if he's managed to get hold of Hudson; Chris has left messages, but to no avail, and now Hudson's phone's been disconnected.
CHRIS: That's all I can think about, is him. And us. I mean, he was The One™.
Kyle expresses his sympathy, but tells Chris he should really get some sleep, as he has work tomorrow.
At the Turners', the silence between Mason and Matt continues. Lauren comes in and tries to mediate, by suggesting they clean out the shed together – but this idea doesn't appeal to either of them, and Mason and Matt begin arguing again.
As Mason stomps out of the house, he runs into Imogen. They have Hermione the car back, now the police have finished with it. But Imogen is no longer interested in driving the car since its involvement in the hit- and- run, saying it's cursed. But Mason says he spent far too much time fixing the car up for them to dispense with it now. Imogen asks him to buy her out of her share, but he can't afford it. Imogen says they'll have to sell – but when Mason explains that the car still needs work before it's ready for sale, Imogen says she's already put a ‘for sale' ad online. Mason's annoyed.
Chris dashes around frantically; he's late for work, and is worried that new boss Danni will go nuts. Kyle agrees to give him a lift on his way to doing a job for Lauren, and they leave the house.
Mason is doing some work on Hermione, when Danni arrives, demanding to know what he's doing there. She reveals she's the new manager of the garage; Mason didn't realise it had been sold, and tells her about the arrangement he had with Lucas, whereby he could drop by and work on the car. Danni says the arrangement can no longer continue and wants his keys back, despite Mason's attempt to bribe her with discounted coffees from Harold's!
As Mason leaves, Chris rushes in, and apologises to Danni for his behaviour yesterday, saying he's had a crazy time and isn't usually like this. She seems to accept this, and suggests they get started.
Karl randomly shows Lauren photos of Lenny and Chop in their new farmyard home, and reveals his veggie- growing plans for the Kennedys' newly- liberated back yard, but tells Lauren not to tell Sheila in case she thinks he's competing with her.
As Karl leaves, Kate comes in and greets Kyle, who is fixing some shelves behind the counter. Kate's had a good time in Sydney, and says Sophie's over her chicken- pox. Kyle asks if Kate's going to see Mason now she's back, and explains that Mason is hoping for a reconciliation following their time apart. Kate tells Kyle she's been thinking a lot about Mason, and knows what she has to do now. Kyle goes back to work, and Kate looks worried.
Danni interrogates Chris over discounted quotes he's been giving to customers; Chris explains that it was Lucas's policy to discount for regular customers. Danni tells him it has to stop as it's against the new owners' company policy. Chris then further upsets her by accidentally pouring coolant into a car engine, leading her to give him a formal warning – and she says two more will put him out of a job.
Mason reports back to Imogen that he hasn't been able to do the work on the car in order for them to sell it, as Danni threw him out of the garage. Imogen's not pleased, as she's already had a potential buyer contact her. Mason suggests she call them back and say they're not selling, but Imogen's insistent that she doesn't want Hermione any more, as it brings back bad memories for her about the hit- and- run.
MASON: None of that is this car's fault. She didn't… I mean, it didn't do anything wrong.
But Imogen says she'll call the buyer and say they'll take less for the work having not being done. She hands Mason the keys, asking him to deliver the car to the buyer, and marches inside.
Kyle introduces himself to Danni, and tries to put in a good word for Chris, saying what an awesome mechanic he is. Kyle explains how Chris has been dumped by his boyfriend, and that's why he's struggling at the moment, suggesting that he's due a break. Once Kyle leaves, Danni speaks to Chris, saying she understands things must be tough, but that he needs to be professional and attentive at work. Chris apologises again, but Danni says she doesn't want to hear it – and tells him to go home and get some sleep, so that tomorrow they can start afresh.
Matt is in hiding in the kitchen, not wanting to be at home in order to avoid Mason. Lauren quickly realises this, and asks how long Matt's going to keep punishing Mason – pointing out that he's patched things up with Amber. Matt claims Amber had more excuse for what she did than Mason, who he says should have known better. Lauren accuses Matt of having double standards.
MATT: We've given that kid so many chances and he keeps stuffing up.
LAUREN: I didn't realise there was a quota.
MATT: Yeah, well there ought to be.
Lauren tells Matt that he ought to be the bigger person, as he's Mason's father and should set an example. She begs Matt to reach out to their son.
Chris comes round to see Karl; he explains he's struggling to sleep after everything that's happened with Hudson. Karl suggests exercise, and cutting down on alcohol, caffeine and heavy meals. But Chris is after a quick fix, and asks if Karl could prescribe him some sleeping pills. Karl says he would only do that as a last resort, but Chris begs, saying his job's at risk. Karl grudgingly agrees to write a script, but says Chris should try the other things he's suggested too – and maybe see a counsellor. Chris says he will.

Mason walks into the yard on the phone, telling someone he'll ‘be there soon to pick it up'. He finds Matt clearing out the shed, who has found some old fishing tackle. Mason isn't keen to talk, but Matt reminds him of how the two of them used to go fishing together in Mount Isa, and they get talking about it. Matt suggests they could go fishing today, at Sandy Pier. Mason says he has to do something for Imogen first, but that after that he's free – and they agree on it.
As Mason arrives in Hermione the car, Imogen storms out of her house. She's just been yelled at by the person who wanted to buy the car because Mason never turned up, and now she wants to yell at Mason. However, she soon calms down when she sees the car – Mason has had it personalised by an acquaintance from work, with the name ‘Hermione' now displayed prominently on the bonnet.
IMOGEN: But why?
MASON: Because, despite what you said this morning, I know how much this car means to you. So I figured if I could show you I could get over the stupid name, then maybe you could get over the idea that it's cursed. Hermione is kind of like our pet, and when you get a pet, you take it on for life; you don't give up on it. I've given up on too many things in the past; I don't want to do that anymore.
IMOGEN: This is, like, the nicest thing a guy's ever done for me.
MASON: Don't get too used to it. I still think you're really annoying.
Grinning from ear to ear, Imogen decides they may have to keep the car after all.
Kyle finds Chris at the bar and challenges him to a game of darts, but Chris is annoyed with him for speaking to Danni about his break- up, explaining how he got an official warning (despite the fact that this happened before Kyle spoke to Danni). Kyle apologises to Chris and offers to talk to Danni again, but Chris tells him to stay out of his business, and leaves.
Mason comes in to buy a six- pack in preparation for his fishing trip with Matt, but Kyle relays what Kate said earlier, about her having been thinking about Mason a lot while she was away. Mason quickly concludes that he has a chance of rekindling things, and cancels his beer order, before rushing off.
Matt is getting his fishing gear ready, and Lauren is pleased that he is finally sorting things out with Mason. However, Matt gets a text from Mason, saying ‘Sorry can't go fishing', and is bitterly disappointed. Lauren goes to call Mason, but Matt tells her not to bother, before stomping out of the room.
Mason tracks down Kate and hugs her, telling her he missed her while she was away. She explains she was going to call him, but she's been trying to catch up with Paul first. Mason says he wants to apologise for suggesting they should have a baby together, saying he knows it freaked her out and that it's since freaked him out too – but that at the time he thought it was the right thing to do. Kate says she knows this, but tells him that breaking up was also the right thing to do.
KATE: I'm sorry, but we have to move on.
Kyle arrives home to find the front door hanging open, the window ajar, the fridge and cupboards all open, and possessions strewn all over the floor. He concludes they've been robbed.
