Previously on Neighbours
- Summer successfully applies for a study placement in Paris
- Rani reveals to Ajay that Priya has been having an affair with Paul
- Karl reveals to Susan that Carmel made a pass at him, not the other way round as she has claimed
Charlie's
It's come- clean time for Carmel, as Susan tears strips off her for lying to her and saying Karl made a move on her. Carmel says she's truly sorry, and admits she lied because she was ashamed of what Susan would think.
CARMEL: Because you're not always the easiest person to talk to, you know!
SUSAN: Oh, so this is my fault, is it?
CARMEL: Of course not. That's not what I meant.
Susan wants to know how long Carmel has had feelings for Karl: is he the real reason Carmel came back to Erinsborough, she asks?
SUSAN: You and I have never been close. But you made me think this trip was about me - was about us reconnecting.
CARMEL: Oh, it was - it is!
SUSAN: Oh, two for one, was it? Reconnect with the sister, and make a move on the ex- husband? Well it's economical, I'll give you that!
CARMEL: Now you're just being cruel.
SUSAN: Well, that's me, isn't it? I'm the cruel one who's hard to talk to. And you're the flighty, selfish one - that's how it's always been.
Visibly upset, Susan concludes by telling Carmel she wants her to leave Erinsborough, right now.

Rani is in a good mood; she's made breakfast for Ajay and even offers to do his laundry! She hands him his mail, but Ajay's concerned to see a pile of letters for Priya on the side, which Rani says she was going to give to Susan when they'd built up. Rani then offers to take Ajay's dry- cleaning to Harold's, and he thanks her for everything she's doing. She replies that she realises she needs to pull her weight now it's just the two of them - and Ajay looks concerned.
Charlie's
Carmel attempts to apologise to Karl when he comes in, but he doesn't want to speak to her. She explains that she only made a move on him because she misread the signals, and thought he felt the same way. He says he's sorry if she got that impression, but he's more annoyed that she then proceeded to tell Susan that he was the one making the moves. She repeats her apologies and says she panicked - and that in any case, she'll be out of his hair soon as Susan has asked her to leave. Carmel says she's ruined her relationship with Susan, and is worried she'll never forgive her.
Erinsborough News
Karl pays Susan a visit. Susan initially thinks he's enjoying the sisters having fallen out over him, and tells him it's "not about you" - rather, she's upset that Carmel lied. However, Karl's actually there to stick up for Carmel. He tells Susan that Carmel's attempt to seduce him may not have been all her fault; he thought he was just being friendly but Carmel obviously misunderstood. Karl tries to persuade Susan to speak to Carmel again before she leaves and give her a chance to apologise. Susan says she doesn't know, but as Karl leaves, she hesitantly adds:
SUSAN: Karl... This might be a little bit about you.
KARL: I hope so.
He smiles and exits, leaving Susan looking concerned.
Harold's
Rani comes in with Ajay's dry- cleaning but is perturbed to see Priya already in the queue. Priya says hello and offers Rani the chance to queue- jump, explaining to the other customers that she's her daughter. But Rani won't say a word to her, and instead takes a seat at one of the tables with Sophie. Embarrassed and upset, Priya walks out. Sophie asks if Rani's okay.
RANI: I wish she was dead.
SOPHIE: Rani!
RANI: What?
SOPHIE: You can't say that!
Rani says she can't deal with Priya being around and wants her to leave, but Sophie warns her to be careful what she wishes for; she only gets one mum, after all. Sophie leaves, telling Rani to keep in touch.

A distressed Rani starts ripping up all Priya's mail, before moving onto destroying her clothes too...

Karl is fussing over Summer like a mother hen as she packs her bags for Paris. (She's not taking everything with her though; she's having a garage sale before she leaves.) After pestering Summer about her preparedness as regards passports, currency and so on, Karl finally stumbles upon a bright idea of how he can help her get ready - and darts off to his room, saying he'll be right back.
Lassiter's Complex
Susan is asking Carmel for further explanation as to why she went after Karl. Carmel admits she's always envied the relationship Susan and Karl had.
CARMEL: You always made each other laugh. Or cry, but even that was something! You liked each other. Even when you were tearing strips off each other. You were passionate. Rob and I were never like that; we were never best friends as well as partners.
Citing loneliness since her break- up from her husband Robert as her defence, Carmel nonetheless insists that she did come to Erinsborough to reconnect with Susan, as she always knows what to do when things go wrong. Susan admits she finds life just as tough and is just as lonely, but hasn't always been good at communicating that to Carmel; likewise, Carmel admits she's not been a good listener. They both get teary and share a reconciliatory hug.
CARMEL: Did I really make things uncomfortable between you two?
SUSAN: Oh, don't worry about us. We'll muddle through.
CARMEL: You always do, the two of you.
SUSAN: Yeah, I suppose.
CARMEL: You do. Sometimes I don't think you realise how rare that is.

Karl re- emerges with a load of French language books, to help Summer learn some of the basics. She reluctantly agrees to Karl testing her - and quickly proves her knowledge of the language isn't up to scratch!
No 24
Ajay returns, as Rani prepares to put Priya's torn- up clothes in the bin. Ajay says he doesn't want Rani running around after him; he appreciates her help, but from now on he'll be doing his share of the chores too. Then he notices the slashed clothes, but Rani gets upset before he can even say anything. She says Priya deserves it; she hates her, and she never wants to see her again. Ajay looks worried as Rani storms off to her room.
Later, Ajay looks through all the ripped clothes with a combination of sadness and nostalgia. Toadie turns up, seemingly at random; Sonya and Nell are both doing well, but are being kept in hospital for now, he explains. He notices the cut- up clothes, and Ajay explains that Rani is struggling following her discovery of Priya's affair with Paul. Toadie launches into a recap of the whole 'Sonya was Callum's biological mum all along' debacle and how that affected Callum, as if it's even halfway analogous to Ajay's situation.
AJAY: So you gave Sonya another chance just for Callum?
TOADIE: It's a lot harder to hate someone when they're right in front of you.
This ringing endorsement of Sonya still fresh in his mind, Ajay begins to mentally formulate a similar means of making Rani happy again...

With Summer's shaky grasp of French apparently impervious to Karl's expert teaching methods (as demonstrated to English- speaking viewers through the power of amusing subtitles), she quickly gets bored and decides to go to Charlie's for a drink instead - but Karl seems genuinely worried that she's not prepared for Paris. Summer insists she'll be fine and asks why he's freaking out. Karl says he just wants everything to be okay for her, and she thanks him with a hug.
SUMMER: Au revoir, professeur.
KARL: Au revoir, bonne chérie.
Karl looks a bit sad as Summer leaves the house.
Later, Susan calls round. She explains that she's spoken to Carmel, and invited her to stay a bit longer - but at Susan's flat this time! She also thanks Karl for being selfless and not making the situation awkward. Susan sees the French book on the side and is highly amused when Karl admits he's been trying to teach Summer the language, particularly after his faux pas once upon a time with a waitress in Marseilles. She thinks it's very paternal of Karl to be worrying so much about Summer, particularly given his lack of enthusiasm when she first moved in with them.
KARL: Alright, maybe I'm being a bit protective.
SUSAN: Un petit peu.
KARL: What?
They laugh and have a brief reminisce about the way things have worked out - then smile as chemistry crackles across the room.
Harold's
Ajay has asked Priya to meet him. Priya explains she saw Rani this morning but that she wasn't 'forthcoming'. Ajay says that's why he wanted to talk to Priya; he'd like her to move back in at No 24. Priya gets all excited, thinking Ajay wants to give their marriage another chance - but he standoffishly tells her that he's only doing it for Rani's benefit, and that she'll be sleeping in the spare room. Floored by his cold reaction but nonetheless wishing to make amends with Rani, Priya agrees to come over later on, once Ajay's had a chance to talk to Rani about it.
Erinsborough News
Priya turns up to give Susan her apartment keys back, and explains she's moving home. Susan asks if Ajay's forgiven her...

... and Rani asks the same question of Ajay. She's furious, and can't believe he's asked Priya to move back in. Ajay asks Rani to respect his decision, but she outright refuses to live in the same house as Priya.
Erinsborough News
Priya tells Susan that Ajay hasn't forgiven her, but that he wants her to come home for Rani's sake. Priya thinks it's a good sign nonetheless, but doesn't want to get ahead of herself; her main priority is Rani.
No 24
Rani insists she won't forgive Priya, but Ajay says Rani will regret it if she turns her back on her mum. Ajay begs Rani to go along with it, as it's important to him - and she reluctantly agrees. However, she adds that she's not going to 'play nice' or pretend.
AJAY: I'm not asking you to pretend.
RANI: Good. I just hope she knows what she's letting herself in for.
Ajay looks worried.
