Karl thinks Izzy is lying about the attractiveness of Dr. Levi.
David telling Svetlanka and Serena to cut the squabbling for Lil's sake.
Summer upset because Travis scared her.
Erinsborough Self Storage
Luka is on the phone with his mum. He tells her he's not coming home to Perth because she lied to him about being adopted. “I've met my soulmate, I'm staying here, I'm never going back to Perth, ever.” He hangs up on her.
While Lil's asleep, Karl tells David, Serena, Harold and Svetlanka that Lil's brother Zoran wasn't a match. He adds that they're still trying to track her father down in Serbia; the address Svetlanka gave them was very old. David asks what else they can do and Karl replies that their best option is the transplant waiting list.
When Max and Summer arrive home, Summer locks all the locks behind her on the door, just to be sure Travis won't come by. “If I ever get my hands on him…” Max starts, and Summer wonders why guys have to say that and get violent about things. He says they just want to protect the people they love, but tries to make her feel better by taking an exaggerated breath and lying on the couch to relax. “See? Calm and relaxed. All I want is peace and harmony.” Summer asks if Travis wants that and Max replies that the police will see to that. He asks Summer if anything is troubling Boyd at school but she doesn't know.
Izzy hands Karl some Serbian food to take to Lil, it's made from a recipe she found on the net. Karl thinks that's really nice of her until he realises it's something that ‘Jerry' suggested, and is horrified that she's on a first name basis with her psychiatrist. Izzy says they talk about Jerry's life as well as examples, which makes Karl more annoyed.
IZZY: It's a two-way relationship.
KARL: Okay, that word there, ‘relationship'.
IZZY: What's wrong with it?
KARL: Well if you want your car fixed you take it to a mechanic, you don't have a relationship with him.
He thought she was going there to deal with her nightmares and stress, not all this other stuff.
IZZY: Jer… Dr. Levi said that if you know thyself you can heal thyself.
KARL: Oh right. So I suppose he's got big pictures of fluffy kittens in his room has he?
IZZY: Karl, what is your problem?
KARL: Dr. Levi is my problem because I think you're attracted to him.
Summer thinks that she should have the blood test that everyone else in the street is having but Max thinks she may be too young. He asks her what Boyd's up to and she laughs that he's polishing shoes… it's just too bad he used brown polish on black shoes.
Susan comes by for a chat with Max and Summer goes to the backyard to pick flowers for Lil. He asks her if she heard about Boyd and Susan says Stingray told her about the poster wars. Max says he can take teenage angst, but not something with this high level of violence, it scares him.
Izzy is trying to convince Karl she's not attracted to Dr. Levi but he doesn't believe her. “Oh come on!” she scoffs. “When he fell out of the ugly tree he hit every branch on the way down!” Izzy says she thinks she knows what's going on. Dr. Levi told her that she measures her self-esteem by making men fall in love with her, and that way she feels better. Karl doesn't see what this has to do with anything. “You sense that and that's why you think my relationship with Dr. Levi could potentially be sexual.” He thinks that is totally bogus though and heads off to the hospital.
Max asks Susan if anything has been going on at school with Boyd but she doesn't think there is. She admits though that Sky has been spending a lot of time supporting a friend. Summer returns just in time to hear this and cheerily tells Max that Sky's friend Lana is a lesbian, and she wonders if Sky will decide she's a lesbian too. After a bit of a silence, Summer decides to go and get ready for the hospital visit. Max and Susan chuckle though and Susan says that Sky does tend to latch on to a cause and run with it. She thinks that Boyd might feel his masculinity being threatened because of the rumours going around at school. Max thinks this is probably the cause of the violent outbursts and adds that he doesn't want Boyd making the same mistakes he did at that age. He, Susan and Summer head off to the hospital.
Lil's Hospital Room
Lil asks Susan what happened to her finger (it's in a bandaid). Susan says that she pricked it but Lil can tell she's lying and that she had herself tested. She says it's too much but Susan replies that she has to let everyone do this for her because they love her.
Summer and Max come in for a visit, bringing flowers, muffins and a book containing 101 jokes. Lil notices that Max's finger is hurt as well.
MAX: Oh yeah… I just pricked it on a bush.
SUMMER: After he fainted.
She thanks them for the presents. Max and Summer look a little uneasy seeing Lil when she's tired and ill so they make a quick exit. Lil starts to cry when they leave. “Oh, Susan. How can I do this to everyone?” Susan hugs her.
Max and Lou are talking about Lil. Max hopes that they can track down her dad soon, he gets the impression that things are getting quite serious. The topic of Carol, Lou's Internet girlfriend, comes up and he's still as besotted as ever. He thinks he can save her from her loveless marriage much to Max's reservations. Lou admits that he'd be happy to take on someone else's baggage because he's lonely. “Lolly's up in the bush, the other kids are up north, Trixie's… God knows where, Valda married Charlie, so yeah… yeah, I'm lonely.”
Karl is seeking advice from Susan. She suggests that he may have ‘shrink envy'. He knows that Izzy is lying about what Dr. Levi looks like and he doesn't know what to do. Susan says he won't like what she has to say, but tells him that: A. He's feeling insecure about his relationship, B. He has every right to, honesty is not one of Isabelle's strong suits.
SUSAN: C. She's extremely attractive, if you happen to like that kind of thing, and men are going to notice her, she's going to have to deal with that and so are you. And D. If openly confronting her didn't work, you're going to have to think a bit more laterally.
KARL: Oh okay, how? How do I think a bit more laterally?
SUSAN: Is it just me or is this a really weird conversation for you and I to be having?
KARL: What, you telling me what's wrong with my life? What's weird about that?
KARL: Come on, explain laterally.
She tells him that he needs to let her know that he's there for her to open up to. She also adds that flowers are always good.
SUSAN: Expensive ones. Roses… although deadly nightshade's probably more her thing.
He thinks she's having way too much fun with this, but thanks her sincerely. She smiles and says he's welcome.
Karl slinks into the shop with a bouquet of yellow flowers, offering them to Izzy as an apology. He says he was confused and she says he must have been if he thought she liked Jerry. Izzy says she loves an older man and he's worried that she could love “and older, uglier man”. Karl is getting frustrated again and just wants her to admit that Dr. Levi's a spunk. Izzy laughs at him and goes off to get Lil's food he forgot before.
Erinsborough Self Storage
Luka asks Serena how her mum is and she tearfully tells him that she's sicker and that she thinks Lil might not have a lot of time left. She changes the subject and asks him what he's going to do about finding his real parents. He says they could be anywhere and that he's not going back to Perth. Serena realises that it's her keeping him there and says he should go back home. She loves him, but she needs to be with her family and he needs to find his real parents. “I want you to stay forever, but you have to go.” He says he can't leave her while all this stuff is going on in her life but she says he has to do what's right for himself. “I love you Luka, and I always will. And I'll be here waiting.” They kiss.
Lil's Hospital Room
Lil says to David that she didn't think things would end up like they have, she thought they'd live till they were old and grey. David says they'll find a donor, but Lil says that just in case, she wants him to promise her that Serena will still grow up with a Serbian heritage. He agrees and tries not to cry. Lil tells him she loves him so much and that she doesn't want him to shut himself away. She wants him to be open to the possibility of loving again. David says he doesn't want to think about it because Lil is the love of his life.
DAVID: I will promise you this though. That I will love you for as long as I live.
LIL: I love you, David.
David breaks down and starts to sob while Lil holds him.
Summer is painting Lou's nails purple whilst giving him advice on his love life. She thinks he should get Sindi to help him with his next email because she can “sex it up” for him. Max stops by the door.
MAX: What's going on here?
LOU: I have a 13-year-old girl advising me on my love life.
Max gives them a look and slinks away. Summer says that Lou needs to be a knight in shining armour to help Carol away from her “stinky husband”. Max clears his throat to get their attention again and tells Summer she has homework to do and that Lou has a pub full of thirsty customers.
A lady walks into the pub and compliments Lou on how nice it looks (and also how nice his nails are). He guesses that she may like a glass of wine but she says that she'd actually like to choose one for him. She introduces herself as Carol Mitchell, “we've met before, well sort of, I'm in the…” But Lou cuts in and says he's very pleased to meet her at last. He gives her his name and she happily says she knows who he is and that she's pleased to meet *him*. Max and Summer look on in amusement.
Lil's Hospital Room
Karl tells the Bishops' the good news, they've found Lil's dad in Belgrade and he's having the tests as they speak. Everyone is excited, and Karl adds that she's also on the transplant list Australia-wide.
Summer has a chat with Carol while Lou gets the drinks. Carol seems confused when Summer mentions the Internet. She admits she's a Luddite with computers, she uses one for the business but that's it. Lou calls Carol over for some wine and Summer whispers to Max that she doesn't think Carol is Lou's Carol.
Over at the table, Lou says he's waited a long time for this and Carol says it's a very special blend. She examines the wine like a connoisseur and Lou takes a sip of his, exclaiming that it's a wonderful blend. Carol gets a call on her mobile from someone called Brian whom she seems very timid with. She hangs up and tells Lou she has to go and he says he understands. He asks if she's going to be okay, and takes her hand, offering her a refuge there if things get too tough for her. She looks slightly perturbed. “You could always tell him you were trying to sell me some wine or something,'' Lou adds. “Well that's pretty much the idea…” replies Carol. Lou says he'll be there for her any time, day or night. Carol is getting more weirded out by the second, and makes a hasty but kind retreat.
Max asks him if he's sure that she's the right Carol and Lou says he's certain. “Mate, that is one hell of a lady!”
Lil's Hospital Room
Serena is reading out some jokes from the book Max bought when Karl comes in wanting a word with Lil. She says he can tell her whatever it is in front of the family. He morosely says that her dad's results were negative. Lil says it's okay, she'll just wait for a donor then, but Serena and David start to cry. Karl walks out and Svetlanka follows him.
Svetlanka wants to know what Lil's chances are. Karl replies that if a donor comes up within 48 hours in Australia, they have a chance. “I have to be honest with you, we need a lot of luck.” Svetlanka starts to cry and blurts out that there is someone who may be a match.
SVETLANKA: Another family member…
KARL: I thought we exhausted every possibility?
SVETLANKA: Serena, only she knows…
KARL: If there's another option I need to know right now. Is this person a blood relative?
SVETLANKA: He's her son.
Karl looks shocked.
