Recap
- Toadie tells Sindi.
- Dee and Darcy kiss
Darcy follows Dee as she walks away, saying she kissed him back and asking her if there's any chance they'll get back together. She says she doesn't know what she felt, she's on the rebound, confused, her life's a mess, half her stuff's still at Toadie's place and she's all over the place. Darcy presses her to say if there's a chance they might get together again and she eventually says 'maybe. Just maybe'
No 30
Sindi asks Toadie just as she's leaving if he did like her. He answers that he still does and was blown away when she first went to talk to him, then not just flattered but honoured when she wanted to keep him. 'You lawyers are great with words' 'just really bad with our personal lives though.'She kisses him lightly and leaves.
Hoylands'
Summer is nagging a cagey Max to say yes about the party and is combing over the 'baldy parts' when Boyd and Heather arrive home. Max says he needs a guest-list to know what food to get. Heather leaves and Boyd thanks him excitedly. Max says he can see the headlines 'Riot in Ramsay Street'. Boyd promises 'It'll be totally cool. I swear.'
MAX: That's what Hitler said before he invaded Russia.
Summer meanwhile stares fixedly at Boyd's face and says dramatically it's the start of a zit. He races off with her following saying it's not leprosy, he shouldn't panic. Boyd calls out 'It's huge'. Max comments 'he panicked and grins as she goes off to 'consult her medical columns' then looks thoughtful and fingers his bald patch.
Coffee Shop
Toadie comes in and asks Sindi if she's Ok. She puts on a bright act and they agree to stay friends. She needs to look for an earring she thought she lost at his place and since she needs it for an interview that day and he doesn't have time to go home, he gives her the key to go and look for herself.
Hoylands'
Max and Summer are discussing Boyd's zit in volcanic terms while he looks at it in a mirror. Max reassures him that it's 'more Vesuvius than Krakatoa', but Summer's more graphic when he goes to answer the door, talking about pizza with extra cheese. Susan has come to thank Max for warning all the neighbours of the party. She immediately comments on Boyd's zit as a whopper. When she gives Max advice about the party he realises she's had some experience, so she offers to come and help. Boyd comments that he's about to host the 'safest, lamest p arty of the year'. Summer adds 'in a mask'.
No 30
Dee's collecting her stuff and talking to Bob about it not being her idea and that his daddy doesn't want her any more.
Sindi lets herself in and tries to tell Dee that she's sorry she and Toadie broke up and that she won't be seeing Toadie, but Dee cuts her off and leaves.
Pub
Darcy's checking with Sindi that she said nothing about their arrangement. She' angry because Toadie and Darcy are both obsessed with Dee. He insists he's in love not obsessed. She tells him Dee was upset to see her at No 30 and she thinks Dee's still hung up on Toadie.
Hoylands'
Boyd's on the phone to Max, who's at work, saying that he's not going as he looks like a freak. ' Oh Boyd, calm down, the hall's going to be packed with teenagers dripping with zits'.
When Boyd goes to the door and lets Heather in, Summer takes the phone and gives a running commentary on what's happening, while passing on to Boyd comments from their father.
Boyd talks with his hand covering his cheek, saying he can't go. Heather replies that she can't go either due to 'family stuff'. With Summer urging him, on he uncovers his face.
Summer tells her father 'He's showing her his zit. She likes it!' as Heather smiles and takes off her hat to reveal a big angry spot on her forehead.
Max tells Summer to say they have to go to the formal or miss the after-party, so they agree to stay in the shadows and Summer tells her father 'We did it dad!'
Darcy's
Darcy has answered the phone call from Dee's grandmother, obviously surprised that Dee's going to visit her. He passes on the message to Dee that her grandmother will pick her up at the Devonport ferry and asks if she's going because of last night. She answers no, she's going because she needs to get away and tells him Sindi let herself in with her own key of No 30. She's barely left and Sindi's living there already.
Darcy says 'gently' that she should let Sindi and Toadie get on with their own lives and sort her own out, stay with her grandmother who sounds really nice. He wants her to do him a favour and think about what he asked her, he's a different man now, hopefully a better one and even if she doesn't choose him, he just wants her to be happy, nothing else matters.
Hoylands'
Max and Summer are putting the finishing touches to decorations and food. Boyd comes out all dressed up but isn't impressed at what they've done with streamers and lollies. Max asks him to invite heather's parents too, then isn't happy when Boyd tells him they know nothing about Heather having a boyfriend and think he's just another student, but he agrees to say nothing. He gets the camera to take a photo 'Hoyland motto - 'humiliation is character-building'. Boyd escapes too quickly, but Max looks down to see the clip of Steph and Summer at the fashion-parade, pauses the picture on Steph smiling and looks down sadly.
Camp-site
Steph's laying down her groundsheet, but as soon as it's spread, she kneels and looks thoughtful, then with a resigned look, gets up and starts to pack it all up again.
Pub
Darcy's buying big cool drink bottles and Toadie comments that he can't believe they let themselves get talked into it, wrangling hormone-crazed teenagers. Toadie says he's decided to talk to Dee, to sort stuff out and goes to ring her at once, until Darcy says she's gone to Tasmania. Darcy seems perturbed that Toadie thinks it's a good thing because she goes there for a shoulder to cry on and it may mean she's going to re-evaluate things. Toadie refuses his offer to pass on any message, saying he'll say it to her face when she gets back.
Hoylands'
Max, Toadie and Darcy sit in a row on the lounge, dressed in identical black t-shirts with a 'BOUNCER' logo, eating chips and waiting for the 10, 20, 150 teens to arrive. They talk about possibiliteies until Summer says they're arriving. Boyd's horrified at the security level and even less pleased when Susan arrives. He transfers the party outside. Max tries to stop it, but darcy says it's Ok.
The party continues outside. Every now and then, Max sees something he wants to stop, but someone or other comes and tells him it's Ok and they'll deal with it.
He goes inside and paces a bit while Susan tells stories of past parties including one which led to her being called 'See-through Susan'. Summer comes in and announces that Boyd and Heather are 'kissing with tongues and everything- it's disgusting.' Again, Max is on his way to do something, but is talked out of it.
Later, He's holding a sleeping summer while his other bouncers snore together on the lounge.
Outside the Hoylands', following morning
Boyd wheels the rubbish-bin down the drive, with Max beside him carrying a garbage-bag. Heather arrives and after they've thanked max for the party, Boyd says they're going to clean up and then lie around as he's so tired. Max calls him back and asks where he and Heather will be lying around. Boyd just laughs and tells him to 'chill' as he just meant in front of the TV. He jokingly says Max 'should probably get a life'. Max sighs and goes back to the rubbish.
He hears a motorbike and eventually we see Steph come round the corner, while the music says 'Don't look back, cause nothing's ever easy, if you don't look back.....' Steph drives up to him, opens the helmet visor and winks. We see the rubbish bag fall to the ground. She takes her helmet off and smiles and he beams back at her................
